I got 'em

Last night I was checking my voicemail and discovered that Rite Aid had called over the last couple of days and said my pictures were in.  So I have been adding them to facebook and files on the computer.  As usual I am not sure I did it right but who knows.  Some of them  are below or above wherever they landed.  I will choose a couple at a time so I won’t over load all of you if I haven’t done so already.

We had some rain this morning and now the sun is fighting to stay out but we are supposed to get heavy thunderstorms today.  We are not at the heavy drought conditions the west (CA) are but we do need the rains.

my neighbors had  a scary overnight.  She fell and hit her around 1 am this morning and had to go to the hospital.  Her daughter who is a nurse called 911 and they all  showed up.   The woman was still conscious and talking but i couldn’t go to her but I talked with  the daughter and did offer to go to the hospital with her.  She gave me the opportunity to decide if I wanted but I made her tell me because well I didn’t really want to intrude.  I urged her to call her uncle so she wasn’t alone (but then I remembered her brother is in the next town).  I think they are home now and have been since 7 this morning..

Well I have to go shopping and Sky is crying for me so I better go.

A Lovely Afternoon

The Celebration of Life/Memorial for my friend’s Mom was lovely.  “N” ‘s father sat on the back deck and greeted people as they gave their condolences.  There was a book to sign in and eventually the service began.  ‘N’s father welcomed and spoke at first of their lives.  I was amazed how much he  remember (he is at least two years older than his wife).  There was music, poetry and tributes including one from the Mayor (their nephew).  At one point you could hear Preston barking from his chair upstairs.  It was surprising to see many people i recognized including my neighbor “P”.  She was friends with “N” ‘s late sister.

After that celebration I headed to my niece and Nephew’s home in North Haven.  It took me about 40 minutes and the ride was not bad on the Merritt.  Dinner was just getting started so I quickly said hello to as many people and grabbed my plate.  I sat with my sister and BIL and chatted with a friend of the families’ that i hadn’t seen August.  At one point I turned around and my sister and BIL disappeared into the house.  So i eventually followed them in.  As i am lying here I hope I wasn’t rude to the guy i was chatting with.

We sat at the table with the many grandkids all eating their desserts while i was still eating my second helping of pasta salad and pulled pork sandwiches, and BBQ rib.  I did get a chance to chat with others about cats, work, and life in general.

My sister and BIL left some time after 6 and it wasn’t too far after that i came home.  i took a different route than I normally do thanks to the GPS.  The route eventually took me to I-91 and it really wasn’t that bad either.  Traffic moved along quite well even through Long Wharf.  At least Southbound direction.  I was grateful I wasn’t going North.

It was nearly 7 when I got home.  The kitties were hanging out by the door.    Did some straightening and taking care of the dryer.  I freshened up the kitties water and started the dishwasher.

I had a short visit with Neighbor Don next door as he was watching some geese in a tree.  The tree was leaning against another tree.  Among the subjects we discussed was the whole neighbor “evicted” (technically that’s exactly what happened) and then he asked if he could measure the back room some time.  It seems he wants to build one on his house.  Of course I agreed.  Why not?

After the visit I came back in and have been watching TV as I had originally planned and surfing the net.  I admit I am starting to get tired.  The kitties are around here somewhere.  Actually Tiger was just playing with my dress.  She took off for downstairs I think.

There is a lovely breeze coming through the windows right now.  It will be great sleeping weather tonight.  On that note I think I am going to close out for now.

Be Well.

The Weekend is Here

Well the weekend is here.  Friday went very well.  I was able to get almost everything off my desk.  I have  a small pile to do (so far) for MOnday.  I was able to get my office cleaned up before leaving.  We did say goodbye to our friends in the Collections department as they packed up and started moving to their new location in WH.

The WEather was absolutely beautiful it was in the high 70’s and the sun was shining.  It made the house itself very warm so the windows were opened.  It was especially warm in the bedroom.  The ceiling fan went on and cooled off the room.  It is overcast now as I write this but by the end of the weekend we are supposed to get some much needed rain.  Parts of the lawn really need it.

While I was busy with the scholarship presentations I discovered that one of our neighbors moved out.  It would seem the owner of the house has decided to move back from NY and gave them a month to move out.   We had no idea (actually I had no idea but neighbor K told me about it Wednesday).  I have mixed feelings about the newest development and the return of “M” because she was very difficult when she first moved in.  SHE eventually moved out to NY.   The young family that was here was very nice and somewhat private.  That’s not to say they didn’t have problems. My hope is they have better times ahead.

The house flippers are busy working this morning and have been on and off since Thursday.  I have noticed  they do most of the work from THursday to Sunday.   I can’t remember if they were here last monday or not.  In any case it is looking great.

This morning I am going to do some light laundry and straightening  until it's time for the Celebration of LIfe for my friend’s Mom.  I am not sure how long it will be but I will then go to my niece’s for the graduation party.  I should bring a change of clothing with me.  It will be a long afternoon.

Sunday I need to do some grocery shopping and hopefully get to see my BIL .  He came home yesterday afternoon.  I didn’t go over yesterday because it was his first day home and didn’t want to overwhelm.  THe weather is supposed to change by the afternoon.
I know  I have to work on my budget and bills. I can do that  late in the day.   As usual the parking bill hasn’t arrived yet.  I am going to have to check to see if they sent it via email (I haven’t noticed it yet) and others are due this week.

It looks like it's Jurassic Park weekend on AMC and the Harry Potter series on ABC Fam this weekend so I will catch them at some point tomorrow.  I may even catch a small NCIS marathon.  Right now is a Rick Steve’s European travel special.  I just realized I have seen this at the last fundraiser PBS had.

WEll I am going to take off and check the net.  Have a great one!

Thankful thursday

  1. I am thankful for my family warts and all.
  2. I am thankful for the medical profession who strived to help me on the road to recovery.  I continue to get stronger and better every day.
  3. I am thankful for my job and coworkers for their support and love. (yes I said love too) they are my extended family.
  4. I am thankful for the home I have.
  5. I am thankful for the friends who are in my life.
  6. I am thankful for the two kitties that have brought so much to my life.
  7. I am thankful my bil continues to recover and get better from his fall early this month..
  8. I am thankful the weather is changing for the better.
  9. I am thankful for the organizations I am involved with as it keeps me busy.

10. I am thankful that I made it through the first of two Scholarship presentations without problems.

11. I am thankful BIL is coming home tomorrow to begin the second stage of recovery.

I am still shocked at how quickly this week flew by and I am about to do the second Scholarship presentation for this year.  Last night’s went beautifully.  It was a long one but we left right after we presented the certificates.  IT was about 8:15 when we presented the scholarships and then we left.  Tonight’s was very good.  We were able to present around 8:15 and I had to speak.  My sister was with me unfortunately my brother couldn’t make it up.  However next year will be different.

To be honest I had suspected my brother was not going to come up for this.  When he told me he had something to do for one of the days I knew he wouldn’t be able to come up on the next day.  I actually told him about it months ago when I first was told about it.  When it was asked that the family show up he was hesitating.  That’s probably why I didn’t make a serious effort to clean the house even though Livi had done it.

The kitties have been having a week.  I had to get rid of not one but 2 area  rugs (small ones) as Tiger had been chewing on the strings and getting sick on them.  I noticed a couple of “piles” and one huge one wednesday.  I think she is fine now but only time will tell.  sky has been pushing the “I want to go outside” envelope this week.  Twice he nearly walked out the front door and the back door.  I am considering getting collars and those halters for the cats and taking them outside.

N is coming home from rehab tomorrow and he is very excited about it as we all are.  He still has a long way to go though.  eventually it will included surgery.

alrighty then I need to get to sleep...

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

As I sit here thinking about the upcoming scholarship presentations I am looking forward to it with mixed feelings.  Feelings of anxiety, fear, excitement and of pride.  I have spoken only a few times in public (usually when it had to do with the Mutual Housing projects I was part of years ago).

I am proud that the Milford Democratic Town Committee chose to Honor Mom by forming the scholarship in her memory.  It would mean a lot to Mom to know they thought so much of her and her commitment to community service.  I am proud they asked me to present the scholarship to the kids.  I am also anxious about having to open my mouth in front of these people that will include a great number of them, neighbors, and of course my sister.  I also scared I will trip over my two feet.

Tonight my sister will be joining me and I am hoping that at some point today my brother will let me know if he will be able to join me Thursday for that presentation.  He couldn’t make it for tonight’s due to “scheduling conflict”.

Too Long Tuesday

’Today was too long.  I got up just before 5:30 and did the normal routine with the cats.  I managed to get some breakfast when I finished with them.  I showered got ready for work tried to write my entire Memorial DAy 2015 entry in one shot but was unsuccessful until tonight.

I left the house by 7.30 and managed to make pretty good time.  I met up with AB who looked really rested and relaxed from her vacation down south.  It was 8 when we got to the office and we got to work.

The day whizzed by actually and I got a lot done thanks to JanetN.  She didn’t have a lot of scanning to do so she helped me out.  She was fast and I think she got more done than I did and that concerns me a little.  I have to think about it some more.

After work was my session with Debra.  It went well.  We talked work, family, self isolation, and what the summer has in store for me.  We discussed vacations and what we will do about our sessions but it's turning into a blur right now.  we made plans for next session and tehn I headed out to get kitty food.

It took me a while to get to the Pet supply place.  the traffic was pretty heavy until west haven.  Jesus (there is a employee there) who helped me get the 20 cans of cat food.  that should last me at least two weeks and then I got the litter.

I had dinner and have been watching TV.  Now I am going to bed..

Memorial Day 2015

As the holiday and long weekend draw to another close.  I am sitting here in bed as this was my day (another lazy one).  I did some channel surfing and landing on CSI (the original) for most of the day.  I don’t normally watch that but figured I would today since it is going to be cancelled soon.

I have enjoyed many of the online Memorial Day wishes that I saw on Facebook.  Many were from friends and some from family.  When I did have the news on there were many Memorial Day activities around the state.

I had a chance to talk to Liz while she was on her way to a meeting.  We talked about how we spent the day.  She spent most of it with Nelson having a mini picnic dinner and having visitors like his sister and his daughter.  She spent some time in her flower beds/gardens and various household chores.

I also reached out to my cousin Maura in Austin TX where they are in the middle of severe weather (ranging from heavy thunder storms, flooding, and tornadoes.  I asked if she and her family were safe and she said “safe but wet”.  I am hoping that included the whole family but can send an email to my Aunt to just to be sure.

Tuesday is back to work and my day to prepare for the rest of the week.  I have to make sure the spare room is ready for Jim if he does get to come up for the Scholarship presentation.  I have to make sure the outfits I plan on wearing are in shape.  They are already washed now they have to be ironed.  At some point I have to write up the 4th District Minutes.

Wednesday is the first of the two Scholarship presentations and it this one starts at 7 and is at Jonathan Law HS on the other side of town.  I believe there is a reception prior to the event but I am not sure if we will be attending it depends on what my sister wants to do.

Thursday is the final scholarship presentation and will be at My alma Mater Joseph A Foran and that is at 5:30 but we have to be there by 5:15.  It is the same night as the DTC and I don’t expect to be going to that at all but I just may wait and see.

I need to print out the information from the Guidance counselors from my email and make sure I have the right locations and get it to Liz on time.

Friday is going to be a work day and my quiet night.  Probably relax as I have a long afternoon the next day.

Saturday will be the Celebration of Life for my friend’s Mom Ruth.  I will probably wear one of the two outfits from the scholarship presentations to that and then bring a change of clothing for Bry's grad party.

I am thinking of going to the nursing home and do bingo on Sunday.  I haven’t spoken to Natalie about it yet.  I may call her on Friday and see if she would mind (yeah like she would mind).

Well I am going to get going.  SKy is already sleeping at my feet and I am not sure where Tiger went to.

Have a great night.

had fun this weekend

I had a lot of fun Saturday.  WE laughed and joked and talked about our summers and we had our dinner from Costa Azzurra. I was in the mood for Baked ziti but was unable to finish it because of all the snacking I did prior to ordering dinner.

Roberta tells me she put in her notice and is retiring on JUne 30.  It wasn’t how she planned it but she needed to do it.  She and her husband are looking for a place down south as their retirement home.  He doesn’t retire for another couple of years.

It was great to see C and her husband G.  The last time I saw them was back in the fall and I wasn’t well then.  I had left the games that night before they started.  Last night we got caught up on our lives.  She still works at a preschool in New Haven. G has had knee problems and is working.

The food came by then we had played a few hands of the game and so we stopped and started eating.  AFter we finished we continued until about 8 or so and then had dessert.  I was back home by 9.

I had to wait to go to bed as S & D were dropping by to give me my phone.  I left it at M&R house to get charged.  I totally forgot it.  So as soon as they came I got it and then went to bed.

Sunday was a totally Lazy Day.  I spent most of it in bed watching the NCiS Marathon.  I originally had planned on going to the parade in town but decided to forego it.  I did do some laundry and did the dishwasher and reheated the ziti but that’s it.

Today will be pretty much the same.  Exceptions a trip to the pet food place.  I have to get stuff for the kitties.  I have been putting off long enough the really cleaning the litter boxes.  I am still doing it but want to do it later.

The kitties are okay..I think Tiger is sleeping under the bed (in the box spring) and Sky is trying to get into the bag that has all the old litter in it..

The other day SKy was coughing up a hairball that never materialized but I was a little concerned.  He seemed okay for the rest of the day.

WEll I better go because if I don’t someone will walk all over the keyboard-again

Saturday, May 23, 2015

I was so hoping to have the pictures I had taken  over the last five months of the cats downloaded and shared with the internet.  Unfortunately I went on Thursday to Rite Aid and they were not there!  I put them in almost three weeks ago.  I caused a stink about.  The manager says it should be in NEXT Thursday! I hope its there by then.  I won’t be going to Rite Aid again for photos.

My brother sent me some text messages to me on thursday letting me know he would not be able to come up for the Scholarship presentation on Wednesday but he may be able to on Thursday.  He has to run some meetings and get stuff prepared for it.  I let Liz know so that she could switch.  I just hope I keep the dates straight and locations straight as well.

The 4th District meeting went well and I was home by a decent hour.  I have to write up those minutes in the next few days as i won’t be going to the DTC on Thursday.

Work was good.  I continued to make progress on the readdress mail and it's a manageable size for now.  Since it is a long weekend they were going to clean the offices.  Mine included.  So the last couple of hours of the day I cleaned off and moved stuff around.

I went to Liz’s after work.  SHe had to have a colonoscopy earlier that day so I wanted to see her.  She was fine but tired.  We entertained the thought of having pizza but I really wasn’t hungry. I was there for 20 minutes and we just chatted.

When I got home I had yogurt and watched TV  The kitties were waiting for me and looked like they behaved.  Until I saw the shredded newspaper in the upstairs bathroom.  It was under the litter box.  I didn’t do anything about it until this morning.

I went to bed fairly early last night.  i was pretty tired and I think I slept a good part of the night.   I still have a few pains in the neck and stuff but it doesn’t seem to be as bad as it was earlier this week.

Today is the Mexican Train Game and I still have to go to the bank but I am going slow.  I will get it done soon.

Thankful Thursday May 21, 2015

  10. I am thankful for the three day weekend coming up.  I Have no plans for sure.

With the impending scholarship presentations next week I spoke to Jim and Liz about what to expect.  I gave them the times and what it will entail.  Jim will asked if he could ride with me and sit in the audience instead of presenting (at least that’s the idea I am getting).  I know that RS asked many members of the DTC to come and give support.  I am really starting to get nervous about it.  Anyway, I am going to have to impart the importance of both of us being up there for the presentation.  I just realized that the second one will make me late for the monthly DTC.  We will see.  i guess worrying about it at midnight is not helpful.

As I mentioned in my Mid Week Reflection.  I have the Pulmonary doctor consult the first week of June.  It is a morning appointment and I am trying to decide if I should go into work then leave or just stay out until after the appointment.  The consult itself is a half hour and I believe the test is an hour.

I see my Rheumatologist the second week of June.  I have blood work to get done prior to that (and pray the request isn’t destroyed while in my bag).  I usually end up losing it some how.  I like it when Anita transmits it by computer then the paperwork is already there.  I know we cancelled some dates and rescheduled others but it's late (or early) and I need to get to sleep soon.

I actually am going to have to sit down with my appointment book and go through it and update my google calendar because something doesn’t seem right.  I think I forgot a few things for the google calendar.  I have to do the same for the other calendar (microsoft).

The first part of the Collections/Customer SVC move was successful.  Now the mail procedure is slightly changed.  Not only will I be sending mail to them but they will be sending mail to us.    The second half of the move will be at the end of the month.  I have to admit I am going to miss seeing these people because I usually seem them on daily basis.  Some of them are also on Facebook.

As I mentioned again in my mid-week reflection I am starting to catch up on the backlog of stuff.  This is also another reason I don’t like being out sick, or going on vacation because sometimes they (whomever does the mail) can’t always get to it or they think its something else and isn’t important and some stuff that needs to get somewhere doesn’t.

I heard from Debbie M today she sent a reminder about Mexican Train this weekend.  Its on Saturday afternoon at 2 over at Roberta & Mike’s.  We will be ordering out.  I think we were considering doing a cookout buffet but one of the couples was going to be delayed and so this would be better.  I have a feeling the buffet will be considered for later on in the summer.

I haven’t talked with Roberta since our woman’s club meeting last week.  She did tell me about her daughter's visit.  I was so hoping I could see her but there just wasn’t time.
The next visit is at Christmas time and I am going to make every effort to see her.

I never did connect with our friend JW last week.  She said she needed to talk to me about something and since I left my phone at work that week we never connected.  I probably should call her this weekend and see what she wanted.

I am trying to keep the house in good shape since Livia’s last visit.  The main thing is trying to keep the kitty litter cleaned up and off the floor and rugs.  I probably will do some light cleaning over the weekend especially Monday.  THere doesn’t seem to be anything in need of fixing except the closet doors here.   As long as the kittens stay out of them.  Actually I still need to get the slip covers for the furniture.  I am debating whether or not to get them from Ocean State JOb Lots or amazon.

I was expecting the lawn guy this week but he hasn’t shown up yet.  There are a couple of key things he needs to do like reseed the front lawn where the sewer pipes were put in last year and get rid of the Hydrangea bush and flower bed in the corner of the front yard.

Now for the kitties.  It would seem they have a new friend.  A black and white Medium/Long Haired cat has shown up at the back door this week.  It got as far as the screen door.  The first time the kids saw it.  Tiger ran and hid behind a chair.  Sky was ready to defend.  They didn’t see it this morning.
They have been doing okay.  They some how managed to disconnect the TVs in the house for a short time.  They are both working normally now.  The radio I listen to or the extension cords they seem to have done something to.

They still knock stuff over.  THey have climbed up onto the dressers and Sky has tried to play with the chain on the ceiling fan.  So I have tied the chain around the blades.  I have a feeling I won’t be using that too much this summer.  Oh before you ask space between the bed and fan is considerably low and he can reach it on his hind legs.

They continue to throw the litter out of the litter box.  I don’t know how many times I have had to sweep it up.  On several occasions there will be mountains of litter at least in one or more corners of the boxes.

I had to catch my breath today as I watched SKy at the front door.  I thought for sure he was going to try and escape.    I had just come in from emptying the garbage.  He took a few steps closer to the door.  Of course I closed it before he could but I am so afraid he will do it for real.  He has done it for the cellar at least half dozen times now.

I have been allowing the kids down in the cellar.  Sky does explore and his training for him to come when I call (like Cousin DLH has suggested) is a work in progress.  Tiger gets as far as the shelves.  I also have allowed them in my old bedroom while I do some computer work and they do pretty well there.  I am not sure I want to try the attic yet.  Too many open spaces at the same time not enough space for people.

Later on today I should be picking up the pictures I dropped off two weeks ago.  I am so excited.  I will download them and then post them when I get a chance.  I think there were about twenty.

N continues his PT at the rehab center.  The first week of June is the goal for home and then he will have home therapy and then eventually surgery on the back/spine.  Hopefully he be back to normal or as normal as possible.  L goes up almost daily and spends hours with him.  When she isn’t there she does errands, cleaning and her own appointments.  She will be attending a funeral for her friend’s father who passed away earlier this week.  I don’t know if I can attend the funeral myself.

The weather is making me crazy.  One moment it looks like its summer and then the next it feels like fall.  It's been in the sixties today.  Its supposed to be like that the rest of the week and I am not sure but I think we are getting rain during the weekend.

Tonight is the 4th District meeting at my friend SM’s house.  We will be discussing the different boards activities, the upcoming Dinner, and of course the Scholarship presentations. I hope to be home early from it.  Last month I didn’t get home until 10 and the kittens were not a happy bunch.

Finally I am so looking forward to the long weekend.  I found out the city’s Memorial Day Parade is Sunday at 2 pm.  I am considering going to it.  I am going to see if L wants to go with me or not.  She usually goes when N is marching.

Well it is getting late and the second cup of herbal tea is not kicking in so I better close up for now.

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

The end of last week and the beginning of this week saw the resolution of the “family drama” at least between my brother and I.  I shared the emails and texts that came and my therapist put the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of my siblings.  I am not sure they would appreciate it but what they don’t know won’t hurt them.  Unless....

Work is going pretty well.  I am catching up on some stuff that has been accumulating since I had been out sick and trying to catch up.  It was actually spoken about today and I am pretty sure it will be caught up by Friday.  The University had its commencement ceremony weekend and we had VP Biden  as guest speaker for Class Day.   Security was tight from what I understand and of course there were certain streets closed off for various reasons.  Starting Friday and all next week is Reunion Week and that should be interesting seeing former students come back and visit the campus.  Some probably haven’t been there in years.

The weather has been a mixed bag this past week.  Over the weekend we had some rain and then warm temperatures.  The last three days has been chilly, foggy and some rain.  Further Northwest there were thunderstorms but no serious damage that I have heard as of yet.  Unlike the midwest and southwest states with their tornados heavy rains.  I have family and friends in all of those areas and hope they are okay.

As for my recent health been to the doctors.  I just got an appointment for a pulmonary doctor and that’s early next month.  For the last few days my shoulder has been giving me grief.  I have been taking the muscle relaxants and tylenol.  I am not sure if it's the arthritis or a pinched nerve.  It has interfered in the sleep except for last night.  I don’t think it needs to be looked at yet but if continues or starts to interfere with anything substantial.

I think I am going to get some tea and then head to bed.

my shoulder hurts

Oh man my shoulder is killing me.  At least as I am trying to get comfortable on the bed.  Its almost time for me to take more of the muscle relaxant or/and tylenol.    I hope I can get some sleep tonight.

I woke up early thanks to a certain feline.  I stayed until after 5:30. I cleaned up the litter boxes and fed the kittens.  Then I got coffee and watched TV until 6:30.   I rushed around while getting ready for work.   I had the breakfast essentials and a nutribar.

The ride to work was normal.  I managed to get to the office on time and got to work soon after.  The day went by pretty well.  I got a lot done and I am pretty sure I will be caught up on the readdress mail very soon. Until the next time I am out or have a huge delivery.

I had a good session with Debra.  We discussed the events of this past week.  She let me know I need to keep both relationships separate.  She feels they are both wrong.  So it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Well I am going to bed now...

I am going to bed early

Today was  a pretty good day despite the fact my shoulder was giving me trouble.  The commute was unusually light but I wanted to contribute that to commencement ceremony at Yale today.  The garage I park in was very full.  I can only speculate about the other parking garages and lots being full.  It was completely different when I left for home.

I didn’t go out into the city today.  I had wanted to get as much as I could done.  I think that some of the streets were still shut down.  According to the President of the University in his weekly update there over 3500 graduates.  The university  tweeted each time a section was given their diplomas.

My Friend LA bought a fan for my office.  It can get hot in there and so now it will be  comfortable.  It took me a few minutes to realize it was on my desk this morning.

I was able to call the superintendent’s office to see what would be expected for the awards.  I then was given the name of the Guidance counselor from Foran.  When the Guidance counselor called she told me the program starts at 5:30 instead of 7.  They will have a blurb to explain who the scholarship is honoring and who it will got to and we will announce the names.

I haven’t heard from the JL HS yet but there is still time.  I am hoping that their awards program also starts at 5:30.  I am guessing it will be the same way.

The kitties were in the living room when I got home today.  I spent some time with them and then I made a sandwich of the pork loin.  While I ate they played for a while.

My neck and shoulder have been hurting and it has affected my arm.  I took some tylenol and the muscle relaxant but it still hurts a bit.  I am not sure what  caused it.

So with that I am going to bed.

Sunday, May 17, 2015

The Weekend is coming to an end.

It is Sunday evening now and for me that is the end of the weekend.  Now is the time to get ready for the week ahead.  UNfortunately, my stomach feels weird again(and that’s because I had a lot of food this afternoon).  My left shoulder is hurting also too.  It has been rather a long time since that happened but I took something for it (the muscle relaxant-I hope).

I do admit the day was pretty good.  I got to see most if not all of my neighbors today.  One couple was doing yard work.  They don’t live here but have a house (they plan on renting out some time).  They were burned by one a couple several years ago so they are careful of who they rent out to.  It's been empty for a few years now.

I went grocery shopping and did pretty well.  Actually spent almost the same amount I usually do and saved about $25.  I was back home by 12:30 quarter of one.

I had a late lunch and watched more of the NCIS Marathon on USA.  I also made plans for dinner and that worked out well.  I baked or broiled a pork loin that I bought and had a salad with it and juice and ice cream.  I am trying really hard not to go through the entire ice cream this time.

I also emailed and called family to keep in touch.  Jim and I talked about cat stuff.

I talked with my SIL and she is looking to store some stuff here.  She is making plans for a trip home to the Philippines.  I told her about the  scholarship.  I am not sure she fully understood it or I didn’t explain very well.

I also talked with Liz.  Her friend ANdrea lost her father today and I wanted to make sure Liz knew about it.  She did.  Andrea called her this morning.  Liz has had a full day.  She was on her way home from seeing Nel and had a few appointments tonight for home improvement projects that need to be done.

Had a very interesting occurrence.  While I was downstairs watching TV and hanging with the kitties I heard a growl.  I turned on the light after I saw them react defensive and scared (tiger).  THere was a black and white long haired cat showing interest in them.  I scared the visitor but I was really very proud of Sky.  Defending his territory.  I turned around and poor Tiger was hiding behind the chair I had been sitting in.  She came out after a brief coaxing.  I realize the visiting cat was curious but I never saw him/her/it before and I wasn’t sure what would happen.  I made sure I praised Sky and talked to both of them as though they would understand that the “visitor” was curious.  I do wonder where that one came from.

Well I am going to do more surfing.  MOnday will be here quicker than we all like.   Traffic in the city will be hectic as the Commencement exercises are tomorrow.   I don’t think I have anything after work to do so it will be another quiet night.

The rest of the week is just a few meetings but nothing else until the weekend.

Have a great one.

Slow start to Sunday

It is a little after 9 Sunday morning and I haven’t even showered or dressed for the day.  I have been up since six.  SKy was anxious  to eat.  I had hoped to stay in bed a little longer because I spent a couple of hours in the bathroom getting sick to my stomach.  IT happened around 1.  Even though I have had coffee and cereal I am still not feeling great.   I will get there eventually.

I talked with LIz last night.  SHe was on her way home from seeing Nel.  He was continuing to improve.  I think she said he was getting a full shower and he was looking forward to it. She also did some planting and stuff like that.  She was going to do her IV session last night.  Today she had a full day as well.

We talked about the scholarship awards that are coming up.  I need to get the woman’s name who needs information.  Liz has the info on Mom from the obituary if they need it.  I emailed Phil this morning to get the name.  I hope he sees it before too long.  We have less than ten days to get it ready.

The sun is out right now but according to the weather it was supposed to be cloudy all day.  Color me confused.  That’s not hard to do either.

Well I better get going..i have things I want to get done before too long.

Quiet and Rainy Saturday

I had gotten up early to the kitties and to rain.  I did my normal routine before I fed the kittens and then had my coffee.  Once they were fed I went back to bed.  Eventually the kitties joined me for part of the day.  The Sun eventually came out for the afternoon and got warm.  It changed again at night.

I did get up again for a breakfast and threw out some old stuff in the refrigerator.  I am sure  there is much more to throw out but my reasons for doing it was for the grocery list.  I was planning on going today but I see some new coupons and stuff on sale for tomorrow.

In the afternoon I did some odds and ends between laundry, cleaning out the litter boxes and a little bit of vacuuming.  I am not going to do that much cleaning since Livia is coming on Monday.  I hope.  At least that’s what we planned for last week when she didn’t come.

This weekend is a fairly busy weekend for other places.  For example Woodmont is have a borough wide Tag sale where everyone can for $5 join in and have tag sales at their home.  Yale is having Commencement weekend. Class Day is on Sunday and Commencement is this MOnday.  I have been told Vice President Biden is in town as speaker.

Dinner is pizza.  My usual place Dominos.  I am not sure what I want on it.  Have any of you used dominos?  Do you like it?  I have used it a few times and on line and they have been really good.  What are your thoughts on it?

So Glad it's Friday

This week seemed like a long week for me.  Between work, appointments, family stuff, meetings it has tired me out.  I will be looking forward to tonight’s Ladies Night at the church.  It is hosted by the Knights of Columbus and they have offered to pay for our dinners to honor my BIL.

This weekend should be fairly quiet.  I plan on doing some grocery shopping and relaxing and fence mending.

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

Still trying to deal with the family drama issue.  I haven’t written the email to big brother yet.  I was getting tired and didn’t want to deal with it.  Maybe tomorrow.

I have doctor’s appointments and meetings for the rest of the week and a fun night Friday night.  so that should be an upbeat time.

the other day I was listening to a round table discussion on books and got to thinking I really need to do more reading again.  Yet I have the attention span of a flea.  I could go to the library but what would I start with?  mystery? romance?

I have to admit today was not the most productive day for work.  I was out of the office for nearly three and half hours for my appointment with the Rheumatologist.  She apparently had to see most of her co-workers patients and it made it crazy for her.  ANyway, she was pleased with my progress but wants me to see my primary for Pulmonary recommendations and a sleep study test.  I will see Dr. Sonia again in July.

The woman’s club meeting went really well. We just approved our budget for the 2015-2016 year and it looks like we will try and do more fundraising now that we will not be able to apply for chamber of commerce grants (they stopped those this year-not sure why).  We did some brainstorming sessions with old Clubwoman magazines.  It was quite clever.  We all looked through them to get ideas for our club to do by what our fellow/sister clubs did with theirs.  Some ideas were reading to military personnel families, a number of fundraising ideas, and I suggested having speakers at meetings on health issues.  We have several things going on for June and August.

The kitties are sleeping at the foot of the bed right now but they were pretty good tonight.  Sky sat with me in his favorite chair earlier tonight and was cuddly.  Tiger was her usual self.  They were both waiting for me on the stairs when I got home tonight.  I am seriously considering giving up the Blue Wilderness kibble after reading some serious  reports and complaints about the food (Blue Wilderness is from Blue Buffalo)

I have a small load of laundry going through right now and I am going to check on it to see if it needs to be moved to the dryer and then I am going to bed.

Not doing very much this morning
