I got 'em

Last night I was checking my voicemail and discovered that Rite Aid had called over the last couple of days and said my pictures were in.  So I have been adding them to facebook and files on the computer.  As usual I am not sure I did it right but who knows.  Some of them  are below or above wherever they landed.  I will choose a couple at a time so I won’t over load all of you if I haven’t done so already.

We had some rain this morning and now the sun is fighting to stay out but we are supposed to get heavy thunderstorms today.  We are not at the heavy drought conditions the west (CA) are but we do need the rains.

my neighbors had  a scary overnight.  She fell and hit her around 1 am this morning and had to go to the hospital.  Her daughter who is a nurse called 911 and they all  showed up.   The woman was still conscious and talking but i couldn’t go to her but I talked with  the daughter and did offer to go to the hospital with her.  She gave me the opportunity to decide if I wanted …

A Lovely Afternoon

The Celebration of Life/Memorial for my friend’s Mom was lovely.  “N” ‘s father sat on the back deck and greeted people as they gave their condolences.  There was a book to sign in and eventually the service began.  ‘N’s father welcomed and spoke at first of their lives.  I was amazed how much he  remember (he is at least two years older than his wife).  There was music, poetry and tributes including one from the Mayor (their nephew).  At one point you could hear Preston barking from his chair upstairs.  It was surprising to see many people i recognized including my neighbor “P”.  She was friends with “N” ‘s late sister.

After that celebration I headed to my niece and Nephew’s home in North Haven.  It took me about 40 minutes and the ride was not bad on the Merritt.  Dinner was just getting started so I quickly said hello to as many people and grabbed my plate.  I sat with my sister and BIL and chatted with a friend of the families’ that i hadn’t seen August.  At one point I turned aro…

The Weekend is Here

Well the weekend is here.  Friday went very well.  I was able to get almost everything off my desk.  I have  a small pile to do (so far) for MOnday.  I was able to get my office cleaned up before leaving.  We did say goodbye to our friends in the Collections department as they packed up and started moving to their new location in WH.

The WEather was absolutely beautiful it was in the high 70’s and the sun was shining.  It made the house itself very warm so the windows were opened.  It was especially warm in the bedroom.  The ceiling fan went on and cooled off the room.  It is overcast now as I write this but by the end of the weekend we are supposed to get some much needed rain.  Parts of the lawn really need it.

While I was busy with the scholarship presentations I discovered that one of our neighbors moved out.  It would seem the owner of the house has decided to move back from NY and gave them a month to move out.   We had no idea (actually I had no idea but neighbor K told me abou…

Thankful thursday

I am thankful for my family warts and all. I am thankful for the medical profession who strived to help me on the road to recovery.  I continue to get stronger and better every day. I am thankful for my job and coworkers for their support and love. (yes I said love too) they are my extended family. I am thankful for the home I have. I am thankful for the friends who are in my life. I am thankful for the two kitties that have brought so much to my life. I am thankful my bil continues to recover and get better from his fall early this month.. I am thankful the weather is changing for the better. I am thankful for the organizations I am involved with as it keeps me busy.
10.I am thankful that I made it through the first of two Scholarship presentations without problems.
11.I am thankful BIL is coming home tomorrow to begin the second stage of recovery.
I am still shocked at how quickly this week flew by and I am about to do the second Scholarship presentation for this year.  Last night’s went beaut…

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

As I sit here thinking about the upcoming scholarship presentations I am looking forward to it with mixed feelings.  Feelings of anxiety, fear, excitement and of pride.  I have spoken only a few times in public (usually when it had to do with the Mutual Housing projects I was part of years ago).

I am proud that the Milford Democratic Town Committee chose to Honor Mom by forming the scholarship in her memory.  It would mean a lot to Mom to know they thought so much of her and her commitment to community service.  I am proud they asked me to present the scholarship to the kids.  I am also anxious about having to open my mouth in front of these people that will include a great number of them, neighbors, and of course my sister.  I also scared I will trip over my two feet.

Tonight my sister will be joining me and I am hoping that at some point today my brother will let me know if he will be able to join me Thursday for that presentation.  He couldn’t make it for tonight’s due to “scheduli…

Too Long Tuesday

’Today was too long.  I got up just before 5:30 and did the normal routine with the cats.  I managed to get some breakfast when I finished with them.  I showered got ready for work tried to write my entire Memorial DAy 2015 entry in one shot but was unsuccessful until tonight.

I left the house by 7.30 and managed to make pretty good time.  I met up with AB who looked really rested and relaxed from her vacation down south.  It was 8 when we got to the office and we got to work.

The day whizzed by actually and I got a lot done thanks to JanetN.  She didn’t have a lot of scanning to do so she helped me out.  She was fast and I think she got more done than I did and that concerns me a little.  I have to think about it some more.

After work was my session with Debra.  It went well.  We talked work, family, self isolation, and what the summer has in store for me.  We discussed vacations and what we will do about our sessions but it's turning into a blur right now.  we made plans for next…

Memorial Day 2015

As the holiday and long weekend draw to another close.  I am sitting here in bed as this was my day (another lazy one).  I did some channel surfing and landing on CSI (the original) for most of the day.  I don’t normally watch that but figured I would today since it is going to be cancelled soon.

I have enjoyed many of the online Memorial Day wishes that I saw on Facebook.  Many were from friends and some from family.  When I did have the news on there were many Memorial Day activities around the state.

I had a chance to talk to Liz while she was on her way to a meeting.  We talked about how we spent the day.  She spent most of it with Nelson having a mini picnic dinner and having visitors like his sister and his daughter.  She spent some time in her flower beds/gardens and various household chores.

I also reached out to my cousin Maura in Austin TX where they are in the middle of severe weather (ranging from heavy thunder storms, flooding, and tornadoes.  I asked if she and her family…

had fun this weekend

I had a lot of fun Saturday.  WE laughed and joked and talked about our summers and we had our dinner from Costa Azzurra. I was in the mood for Baked ziti but was unable to finish it because of all the snacking I did prior to ordering dinner.

Roberta tells me she put in her notice and is retiring on JUne 30.  It wasn’t how she planned it but she needed to do it.  She and her husband are looking for a place down south as their retirement home.  He doesn’t retire for another couple of years.

It was great to see C and her husband G.  The last time I saw them was back in the fall and I wasn’t well then.  I had left the games that night before they started.  Last night we got caught up on our lives.  She still works at a preschool in New Haven. G has had knee problems and is working.

The food came by then we had played a few hands of the game and so we stopped and started eating.  AFter we finished we continued until about 8 or so and then had dessert.  I was back home by 9.

I had to wait to g…

I was so hoping to have the pictures I had taken  over the last five months of the cats downloaded and shared with the internet.  Unfortunately I went on Thursday to Rite Aid and they were not there!  I put them in almost three weeks ago.  I caused a stink about.  The manager says it should be in NEXT Thursday! I hope its there by then.  I won’t be going to Rite Aid again for photos.

My brother sent me some text messages to me on thursday letting me know he would not be able to come up for the Scholarship presentation on Wednesday but he may be able to on Thursday.  He has to run some meetings and get stuff prepared for it.  I let Liz know so that she could switch.  I just hope I keep the dates straight and locations straight as well.

The 4th District meeting went well and I was home by a decent hour.  I have to write up those minutes in the next few days as i won’t be going to the DTC on Thursday.

Work was good.  I continued to make progress on the readdress mail and it's a mana…

With the impending scholarship presentations next week I spoke to Jim and Liz about what to expect.  I gave them the times and what it will entail.  Jim will asked if he could ride with me and sit in the audience instead of presenting (at least that’s th…

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

The end of last week and the beginning of this week saw the resolution of the “family drama” at least between my brother and I.  I shared the emails and texts that came and my therapist put the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of my siblings.  I am not sure they would appreciate it but what they don’t know won’t hurt them.  Unless....

Work is going pretty well.  I am catching up on some stuff that has been accumulating since I had been out sick and trying to catch up.  It was actually spoken about today and I am pretty sure it will be caught up by Friday.  The University had its commencement ceremony weekend and we had VP Biden  as guest speaker for Class Day.   Security was tight from what I understand and of course there were certain streets closed off for various reasons.  Starting Friday and all next week is Reunion Week and that should be interesting seeing former students come back and visit the campus.  Some probably haven’t been there in years.

The weather has been a mix…

my shoulder hurts

Oh man my shoulder is killing me.  At least as I am trying to get comfortable on the bed.  Its almost time for me to take more of the muscle relaxant or/and tylenol.    I hope I can get some sleep tonight.

I woke up early thanks to a certain feline.  I stayed until after 5:30. I cleaned up the litter boxes and fed the kittens.  Then I got coffee and watched TV until 6:30.   I rushed around while getting ready for work.   I had the breakfast essentials and a nutribar.

The ride to work was normal.  I managed to get to the office on time and got to work soon after.  The day went by pretty well.  I got a lot done and I am pretty sure I will be caught up on the readdress mail very soon. Until the next time I am out or have a huge delivery.

I had a good session with Debra.  We discussed the events of this past week.  She let me know I need to keep both relationships separate.  She feels they are both wrong.  So it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Well I am going to bed now...

I am going to bed early

Today was  a pretty good day despite the fact my shoulder was giving me trouble.  The commute was unusually light but I wanted to contribute that to commencement ceremony at Yale today.  The garage I park in was very full.  I can only speculate about the other parking garages and lots being full.  It was completely different when I left for home.

I didn’t go out into the city today.  I had wanted to get as much as I could done.  I think that some of the streets were still shut down.  According to the President of the University in his weekly update there over 3500 graduates.  The university  tweeted each time a section was given their diplomas.

My Friend LA bought a fan for my office.  It can get hot in there and so now it will be  comfortable.  It took me a few minutes to realize it was on my desk this morning.

I was able to call the superintendent’s office to see what would be expected for the awards.  I then was given the name of the Guidance counselor from Foran.  When the Guidance…

The Weekend is coming to an end.

It is Sunday evening now and for me that is the end of the weekend.  Now is the time to get ready for the week ahead.  UNfortunately, my stomach feels weird again(and that’s because I had a lot of food this afternoon).  My left shoulder is hurting also too.  It has been rather a long time since that happened but I took something for it (the muscle relaxant-I hope).

I do admit the day was pretty good.  I got to see most if not all of my neighbors today.  One couple was doing yard work.  They don’t live here but have a house (they plan on renting out some time).  They were burned by one a couple several years ago so they are careful of who they rent out to.  It's been empty for a few years now.

I went grocery shopping and did pretty well.  Actually spent almost the same amount I usually do and saved about $25.  I was back home by 12:30 quarter of one.

I had a late lunch and watched more of the NCIS Marathon on USA.  I also made plans for dinner and that worked out well.  I baked or …

Slow start to Sunday

It is a little after 9 Sunday morning and I haven’t even showered or dressed for the day.  I have been up since six.  SKy was anxious  to eat.  I had hoped to stay in bed a little longer because I spent a couple of hours in the bathroom getting sick to my stomach.  IT happened around 1.  Even though I have had coffee and cereal I am still not feeling great.   I will get there eventually.

I talked with LIz last night.  SHe was on her way home from seeing Nel.  He was continuing to improve.  I think she said he was getting a full shower and he was looking forward to it. She also did some planting and stuff like that.  She was going to do her IV session last night.  Today she had a full day as well.

We talked about the scholarship awards that are coming up.  I need to get the woman’s name who needs information.  Liz has the info on Mom from the obituary if they need it.  I emailed Phil this morning to get the name.  I hope he sees it before too long.  We have less than ten days to get it r…

Quiet and Rainy Saturday

I had gotten up early to the kitties and to rain.  I did my normal routine before I fed the kittens and then had my coffee.  Once they were fed I went back to bed.  Eventually the kitties joined me for part of the day.  The Sun eventually came out for the afternoon and got warm.  It changed again at night.

I did get up again for a breakfast and threw out some old stuff in the refrigerator.  I am sure  there is much more to throw out but my reasons for doing it was for the grocery list.  I was planning on going today but I see some new coupons and stuff on sale for tomorrow.

In the afternoon I did some odds and ends between laundry, cleaning out the litter boxes and a little bit of vacuuming.  I am not going to do that much cleaning since Livia is coming on Monday.  I hope.  At least that’s what we planned for last week when she didn’t come.

This weekend is a fairly busy weekend for other places.  For example Woodmont is have a borough wide Tag sale where everyone can for $5 join in and…

So Glad it's Friday

This week seemed like a long week for me.  Between work, appointments, family stuff, meetings it has tired me out.  I will be looking forward to tonight’s Ladies Night at the church.  It is hosted by the Knights of Columbus and they have offered to pay for our dinners to honor my BIL.

This weekend should be fairly quiet.  I plan on doing some grocery shopping and relaxing and fence mending.

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

Still trying to deal with the family drama issue.  I haven’t written the email to big brother yet.  I was getting tired and didn’t want to deal with it.  Maybe tomorrow.

I have doctor’s appointments and meetings for the rest of the week and a fun night Friday night.  so that should be an upbeat time.

the other day I was listening to a round table discussion on books and got to thinking I really need to do more reading again.  Yet I have the attention span of a flea.  I could go to the library but what would I start with?  mystery? romance?

I have to admit today was not the most productive day for work.  I was out of the office for nearly three and half hours for my appointment with the Rheumatologist.  She apparently had to see most of her co-workers patients and it made it crazy for her.  ANyway, she was pleased with my progress but wants me to see my primary for Pulmonary recommendations and a sleep study test.  I will see Dr. Sonia again in July.

The woman’s club meeting went real…
