We had some excitement yesterday

 We had a storm during the night that caused major damage in some neighborhoods and we had no power from 6:20 to maybe 8 am.  Some of the business on Route 1 seemed to be powered.  So I got my coffee there at Cumberland Farms.  I spoke to one woman who was without power since 1 am this morning.


UI sent out service emails updating how long it was going to take.  They had it resolved by 10. I think Optimum was another story. By 1:30 it was taken care of.  So it will be fine tonight.


I may rent the Rug Doctor and work on it tomorrow.  I can get it at Lowes but I am not sure what the traffic is going to be like when I head home because of the storm.  I am hoping it won’t take me a long time to get it.  I see that it costs like $21 for the detergent for the Rug Doctor.  You notice no one ever mentions that along with the rental fee?  Oh, it's 48-49 for two days. In the end it's going to cost $75 for me to do.  I think I would save $100


I didn't  get to Lowes after all.  I took another route but saw evidence of the damage  this morning

One Day Closer to the Weekend

Today was awesome. I did wake up early but stayed in bed a little longer than I wanted to but that is okay. I got the clothes out of the dryer from last night and watched TV for a bit. I got ready for work and then Mom got up for her meeting at Bridges. The drive to work was great (hardly anyone on the roads or in the parking garage). The crunch was on to get as much AR in as possible for not only Month end but fiscal year end. I think we did pretty darn well. I was concerned that there wasn’t a lot of volume of mail for being the end of month or year but it was explained to me that it’s okay because it’s the time of year (huh?). Anyway, I managed to get all of the mail done and was able to put another dent in the readdress mail. I worked until 6 and did the NOPPS. This will be the only OT for the next week or so. Turning 55

Today My Sister turns 55. Unfortunately all I did was sing her the birthday song. When Mom and I arrived at her house she was having dinner with Rich and Nelson. Actually Nelson was in the backroom napping and Liz and Rich were chatting and eating pizza. Mom had a card for Liz and handed it to her and Liz made some stupid joke “well you spelled my name right!” I gave her a swat. I think about it and wanted to slug her. She pisses me off when she pulls that shit. We stayed for about 15 20 minutes to get a latest scoop on Jess’s wedding apparently some of the gifts were taken or misplaced. We talked about going to the C bridal shower on Saturday. Liz is not sure if she is going. Once that was established we headed home. We had dinner and then I came upstairs and spent the evening watching NCIS and now I am going to bed.

When do you begin planning for Thanksgiving?

Earlier today I wrote that I had been reading a blog that was from Virginia or Maryland and they discussed Thanksgiving preparations and they started their blog with a question “When do you start your preparations?” I asked a couple of co-workers and they looked at me quizzically and then finally said two days before the actual holiday.   Another one looked at me and says “that’s because they don’t cook”.   But he did tell me some start now.   I asked Mom these same questions.   She tells me that Jim is coming for thanksgiving this year and she did invited Ethel and Diane for dinner.   They have not given an answer yet.   Anyway, Mom tells me she started making the pies this week.   She has the mince meat already done and in the freezer.   She will be making her pie crusts in the next few days.   In the days to come she probably will put more of a menu together (that will include seafood for Diane) that also will have various sid...
