Took it easy this weekend.

I decided to take it easy this weekend.   The last few days were exhausting and fun.   Thanksgiving dinner at my niece and nephew’s home was wonderful.   It was a lovely day.   The kids were funny and the best part is Olivia my great niece gravitated towards me a lot.   She willingly sat on my lap more than a few times.   I am lucky if I get a hello from her.     I was there until about 4:30 or so and then we came home.   A short time later we back in Milford.   After that I came home and scrambled to get the bed made for when my friend Karen came. Karen is my HS classmate and friend.   We shared quite an adventure with another friend and it was a tough those years.   More for her then me.   We also worked together back in the late 80s and our relationship faded again.   We reconnected a few more times after that and most recently on FB.   We spent most of thanksgiving night catching up on life. ...

Saturday Doings

Liz came over and helped with the rearranging and (I think) cleaning of the sofas/couches they picked up yesterday from Mama and Papa. I started to clean them last night with upholstery and rug cleaning stuff but that’s not working just yet. I have been slowly putting the cushions from the old furniture in the garage. Again I started last night but saw the neighbors and chatted with them.   So I tried to vacuum the cushions again. I can’t get to the back of them because it’s hard to move them and I can’t really reach with the attachments. Well I am going to try again soon. I threw some windows opened last night and some I was surprised that did open. I left them open overnight so the house is pretty cool right now. The smells from the Couches were strong. I found we have new neighbors in the flipped house. It had happened in the last couple of days. A young couple with a dog. You will never believe this but the young man is a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs minor league te...

A Lovely Day

I had a lovely time with Mama Joanie yesterday.   After each of us had some things in the morning to do we had to change the meeting/lunch date time to 1 pm.   This allowed me to get my car register for this year.   I made a call to Nardelli’s Deli on Route 67 and ordered us each a sandwich.   Mama’s was Tuna mine was Eggplant Parmigiana I left here just about 12:15.   The GPS was taking its sweet time warming up (I really hate that thing) and once it got going it had me drive to Racebrook Road and then to Route 34.   I knew I could have gone two other ways but I still followed it. I was sure I was going to be late when I got caught behind a dump truck for like 8 miles.   I was going crazy.   I finally decided to go around it and picked up speed a little.   I got to the exit I needed and was surprised how quickly I got to Oxford.   I found Nardelli’s quickly (I must have put the wrong number in to GPS because it wasn’t w...

Family Day

Well the day started fairly quiet as usual.  The three of us spent the morning chatting and having coffee.  It was some time after 12 when DIane and Rogier stopped by for a visit.  THey shared with us their recent trip to Mexico and various other family stories from Memory lane.  It was a lot of fun. After they left we all had a late lunch of sandwiches and then we made calls to two of my cousins across the country.  They were fairly short as one thing or another was happening (the phones were either dying or the connection was bad) We all did our own thing for a couple of hours.  For me it was a nap as I didn’t sleep that well the night before.  I also caught part of the NCIS McGee Marathon and a few other shows. WE had Chinese take out from China Pavilion in Orange.  It was pretty good.  There is a lot of rice leftover. My knees have been uncooperative tonight so I think I am going to go to bed

I need to have

I really need to go back to LensCrafters® and have them check my glasses. Every time I take my glasses off and put them on it feels like they can’t focus or I see double. I think it started back the night after I literally slept on them and found the left lens popped out. I put it back in but I don’t think I did it right. It seems fine once I put them on but it just feels strange. I woke up around 2 this morning for a bathroom run. I noticed my left ankle/foot was doing pretty well until I was awake for a while. The right ankle felt like someone was putting one of those vices on it while I was walking. I may just have to keep taking the “tramadol”® until this passes. I stayed awake for a while so I did my routine of surfing the net until I got tired again. I am not sure why else I stayed up but I felt rested. The only problem is I wanted to be up by five so I could do some things before work. (That didn’t happen) I was really glad to see one of my co-workers Wendy return from...

Easter 2008

Good morning and Happy Easter everyone. I was just heading to bed and thought I would write a quick entry. I can’t seem to sleep so I have been watching Van Helsing and the Ten Commandments. Yesterday was a pretty good day. I spent the morning doing a little of the laundry and spending most of the morning doing letters. Mom went and had her hearing aids adjusted. I have a feeling just as the Dr. told her that these hearing aids will not do it for her. Lorraine and Aunt Ann arrived her just about 12:30 quarter of 1. We went out to lunch to Kimberly Diner over by the police station. Mom had an omelet and Lorraine had waffle with sausage, I had a cheeseburger w/ lettuce and Tomato. Anne had French toast. Mom made comment when I was ordering and I told her not to do it. She would also bring it up later when they left. “Oh you shouldn’t have gotten such a big lunch’. When someone else is paying for it you shouldn’t get an expensive meal (it was $6). When she heard that she rec...

August 12, 2007

The birthday party was great. I had a fair amount of food but drank lots of water. We stayed until 5. Then drove to the fundraiser. There was a small crowd there. They had about 50 people come through the day. We had some corn and dessert. When we left I showed Mom where Telka lived. She was a bit confused about how to get out of there. I was about ready to slap her. Couldn't we have gotten in there. That's the fucking road we did use. Mom watched a repeat of Ask TOH and I watched a bunch of movies and surfed the net. I think I went to bed about 11. Today will be the bingo and church. I will come home and do some work. It is now 9 hours later and I am eating dinner in my room. No there hasn't been a problem. Its just that some very old (literallly) and dear (ditto) friends stopped by to visit and so I am letting them to that with Mom. Besides I would rather not eat in front of them and perhaps embarrass the two of us. So as soon as I am finished eating I am going back down....
