Easter 2026

Good morning and Happy Easter to all who celebrate!   It's cloudy now, with rain expected later. I'm feeling lazy right now.   I did make sure to send e-cards to Jim and Janis and to Liz’s I stayed in last night because I was lazy.      I relaxed on the couch and cooked dinner.   I will probably wear the green dress I wore at Faith and Jerry’s Wedding’s hope no one notices the hole.   There is another dress I can wear that is a little more spring like. Clouds are forming, and rain is expected at 1 am.   It appears that the weather will be warm but accompanied by rain throughout the day. Jim sent me a text message saying he dreamed about me.    He couldn't recall what it was about but said he'd try to remember.    This should be fun. ldr I started getting ready around 11 this morning. At the same time checking Facebook and my email to see if everyone got their messages.   I got several responses on FB. ...

St Patricks Day

Happy St Patrick’s Day.   May you many blessings and Luck of the Irish on ya.   The parade took place last Saturday, with strong winds.   And cloudy.   Many restaurants will serve Irish dishes throughout the day. It is also my maternal Grandmothers 139 th birthday.   I have no love loss for her, but some of cousins do even though she has treated all of us like crap.   Late in life, she developed dementia and Alzheimer’s, which worsened her condition.    I used to think all the cousins loved her, but later they joked about how mean she was.    They also joke about things that she did over the years so maybe they respect her and overlook her faults.   Don from next door came over at 1, checked the window, and suggested removing it when it's warmer.    He asked what happened and as I was explaining it to him I got the feeling he was thinking I was an asshole.   He really can be a jackass-no wonder some of the...

Labor Day 2025

Kicking off a two-week vacation on Labor Day 2025, the plan is to hang out with friends in Allentown. There'll be lots of walking, hitting the gym, and attending a conference. The second week is packed with meetings, a Meetup, and some bingo fun before getting ready to head back to work. Plus, there's a trip to Bishop’s Orchard for some apple picking and checking out the store. Sounds like a blast! 🍎😊 I've been reflecting on an observation: Whenever I mention my intention to undertake something, people often respond by inquiring about my work responsibilities.    It is Labor Day for one.   If you know I work at a university, you know I have the day off.   It's my vacation too.    Why do I get annoyed when they do this?   It appears my eligibility for a vacation is being questioned.   I resent it immensely.   I avoid asking that question, particularly when I am aware of someone's occupation. I am thrilled that several of ...

It is Memorial Day weekend

Today begins the unofficial start of the summer season.   There is a parade planned this weekend but there are a few people including some of my acquaintances that don’t want to have a parade.   I am not sure why that is but several posts on Facebook that remind us that this holiday is to remember those who didn’t get to come home from their tours of the different wars. No Parades Uh oh.   I just looked up why there shouldn’t be parades.   Well, I hope that worked.   I also found out that saying Happy Memorial Day is inappropriate to say.   OOPS.   Other countries honor their dead soldiers throughout the year. The week went well even though I had a couple of challenges that took me some time to get through it.   There was a misunderstanding with CSenior, but it was resolved later. She reminded me not to be reactionary and to apologize. I accidentally broke GW's mug, brought it home, and tried to fix it. Despite the warning, I inadver...

Labor Day 2024

Happy Labor Day!   While most of us are relaxing and enjoying the last vestiges of summer, there are hotel workers across the country striking for better wages, and healthcare.   They are Local 217.   That was what I was supposed to yesterday, but it changed as of Saturday afternoon. I finally got some organizing done in my office.   I still have more to do but I am doing it slowly.   In between that and a little laundry watched some tv. I also got some prescriptions renewed.   I probably should go back to the Pharmacy with this glucometer and have them reset it.   I just feel stupid that I messed it up.   Actually I need to go pick them up. Oh, I also found the stamps I thought I threw out.   I have them on the bulletin board.   So that if I need them, they won’t be lost. Again.   I heard from my Brother J they are relaxing, but he is also preparing for a colonoscopy.   Mine is next year thank goodness. I got ...

Quiet Day

Since my plans changed earlier this week; today turned out to be a semi quiet day.   Even though I went to bed at 10 last night I got up several times during the night and got on the computer and did various things.   I finally went back to sleep around 3. I got up again for the day and did my normal Sunday morning routine.   I got online again and finished yesterday’s entry.   There are a lot of things I didn’t get done too. I did go to bingo.   There were about ten residents.   The dining room wasn’t cleared to play bingo but apparently Church Services were not held, and neither was lunch.   Someone at one point walked in and called out Bingo.   I am pretty sure it was an employee.   I asked them not to do it.   She looked at me like I had two heads.   When I told Recreation Emily about it she said it was good I said something but maybe later look for her and tell the woman not to do that and explain why.   UH no. ...

So Today

So today by  katiegirl06460 July 3, 2024 Hey everyone .. another Random post. Today starts the busy holiday travel.  I hope that if you do that, you are safe and enjoy.  Personally, I think many left earlier around here. So my questions are: Will you travel? Where do you go?  Camping? Friends houses’ resorts beaches?   Do you work on Friday?  I am .   Next year it lands on Friday  so I may take Thursday off

New Year's eve 2021

Late last night I decided I would be going to Gillion’s house for the NYE.   I texted her saying I would be there.   So today, I will be resting and relaxing and then leave here just before 9.   By that time the cats will be fed, watered, and medicated.   I hope the weather holds off until I get home Saturday morning. I am glad Dave’s dinner isn’t until 2.   This will allow me to rest for some hours before I pick up the bread and bring it for the dinner.   Tomorrow will be mostly rain.   I hope that will keep people off the roads. I actually have to revise my budget for this past month.   There are a whole lot of things I didn’t record.   I know I am already in the red for January I have to admit that it took me a long time to get to sleep last night.   I had a late night snack of mixed vegetables and the next thing I knew I was running to the bathroom.   I had the runs.   It didn’t last long but oy it was uncomfor...

I had a great time

I got to My Sister and BIL’s house just about 1.   I was happily surprised to find not only Jr.’s family there but my nephew Adam and his family and my Nephew Rich!   It was fun watching the kids playing and having fun.     I was able to chat with Liz. Got to chat with Liz and talked about various subjects including the recent    animal sightings throughout the city and state.   WE also talked about the sneakers (she liked them).   I wasn’t pleased by two more things she was chatting about. The first one was some cute things I shared about cats.   She was questioning about the lost and found animal posts I had on my news feed on FB.   She wondered if they were local.   I state in state and that if my friends who may be in whatever town it is in.   It felt like a judgement.   She didn’t say anymore but the look on her face spoke volumes. She was also asking about the scholarship in Mom’s name.   I tol...

New Year's Day 2021

Dear Debra:                 Happy 2021!   It is after midnight and I can hear fireworks being shot off somewhere in the distance.   They were being shot off earlier too.     Let’s hope this year is better and healthier than last year.   Admittedly despite the pandemic there were some good moments among the bad ones.                   Despite my rant on Wednesday the rest of that day ended up not being too bad.   I did some cooking, called Mama Roberta, and received my stimulus check!   I texted Liz about it but she noticed she didn’t get hers.   I wasn’t even expecting one.                 Anyway, Liz suggested we go shopping yesterday for the appliances I would need or want and we would give th...

Last day of work before the recess

I am not sure what I was originally going to call this because it’s on the hard drive at home.   I think it was something close to this title.   So yes today is the last day of work for the next ten days.   SR sent out a cute Holiday message and many other admins and departments across the campus followed suit.   Everyone from the team responded   DG and I discussed what we should do when we return as there will be a huge backlog of mail.   So we plan on working together as a double team and focus getting out as much as we can without overwhelming ourselves.   There were a small number of people in the office today.   Many took today off in preparation for the holiday.   It was pretty quiet for most of the day.   Supervisor left after 2:30.   When I left there were only three left in the office.   I did scanning for the entire day.   I straightened up my desk a little but not by much before I left and ra...

Thanksgiving Week 2020

Wednesday was the beginning of the Holiday week for me. Liz and I began some of the phone calls that we needed to get done prior to the move were started that mid-morning. We worked on it for a couple of hours.   It was frustrating and aggravating. One of the issues was dealing with the UI.   We couldn’t discuss closing the current account on the house because it was under Mom’s name.   So Liz would later send me the death certificate and I forwarded to the address the woman gave me. Liz had to leave around 2 because she had a baking activity with a friend’s daughter at her home.    The rest of that day I crashed I think.   That was before I did some shopping. Thanksgiving morning was quiet.   I watched TV.   I believe Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter was on that morning Just before I left for Liz and Nelson’s I stopped at the Store to get another quart of Ice cream.   I believed the one I had gotten the day before (that’s right I d...

Peaceful Morning

I am having a very slow start to the day.   It’s cloudy and 72 degrees right now and is expected to get in the mid-80s.   It might get really sticky weather wise.   I probably should take a walk before it does get too humid.   I have already cancelled today’s class.    I have until 4 to get there.   It actually closes at 5 and in order for me to do cardio I would need an hour. There are a lot of posts and shared posts of the various displays across the city and even in the blogosphere.   They looked great.   What I don’t get is when people see the videos they ask?   When, where?    Followed by I thought they were cancelled.   Well hello?    Wouldn’t you think it would be from privately citizens (that’s an oxymoron).   There are also lots of posts condemning those who are shooting them off on behalf of their pets.   I am not heartless but you know they go off this time of year.   You all need to...

Independence Day 2020

G00d Morning and Happy Birthday America!   This has been a year hasn’t it? It can only get better I think.   WE have gone through so much only to show we can be resilient.   So last night I watched most of the Wrath of Khan and a little of the Search for Spock.   I had gone outside to see where the fireworks were being shot off from.   I could barely see them and they were really loud either but I did walk to the end of my street and looked towards West Haven and noticed there were some that way.   I am figuring it was near the HS or grounds of a couple of schools nearby Sky was sitting on the sofa above my head and then took off.   I found them both at either end of my old bedroom.    There are only 4 places that are officially holding firework displays this week in the area.   Of course I was surprised when I heard them until I went outside and it had stopped raining. Today has been a normal day (well accidently pocket dialing the...

Memorial Day 2020

The Memorial Day holiday was a fairly quiet but rainy day.   It actually rained on and off until late afternoon.   It stayed in the 60’s all day.   I did some odds and ends around the house and worked n some pen pal letters that I received during the night.   I had to deal with another moron that really felt entitled and told me I was being rude.   I continued to answer some emails that I received late in the day too. I did our normal morning routine as well.   I had to clean the table because one of the titans did a hairball.   They seemed okay the rest of the day.   Sky continued to watch the birds in the bush in the back yard and he was so funny. Mid-morning I went to Shoprite but before going in to shop I called Dave and we talked for an entire hour.   We discussed friendships and I found out a friend of ours lost her father the week before.   We talked about elementary school and life for preteens and then high school. It was ...

Still not quite the summer feeling

It is a beautiful morning.   The sun is shining and will probably play hide and seek with the beautiful clouds out.     It isn’t supposed to get any warmer than the low to mid 60’s.   I will be wearing a sweat shirt today.   I was still wearing flannel pajamas and a fluffy warm bathrobe this morning.    Tomorrow will be the same way it sounds.   All next week is not supposed to be so good. Shit I heard some crows and almost a cheap noise and I looked up in the air and noticed the crows chasing a red tail hawk.   It’s been a while since I saw them do that usually they leave each other alone.   I was feeling bad for the hawk.   A short time later I notice Sky looking outside the window in the back room and he looked as though he was hiding from the bird that was in a bush.   As the bird flew away Sky Jumped up on the ledge and then jumped back down but still trying to keep an eye on the bush.   I would have taken a picture...

Mother's Day 2020

It is Mother’s Day 2020.   It is a sunny and chilly morning (39 degrees) and it is supposed to get to 59 at some point.   I don’t remember it being this cold in a long while on mother’s Day.    It rained last year. I have sent out e-cards to most of the women in my immediate family.   (The Rivera-Morgan) and I will be calling my three aunts later today (2 live in Texas and the other lives in Ga).   I had a fleeting memory of all the gifts I had given Mom over the years and I see I mentioned it last year .   It isn’t as emotional this year which is probably a good thing.   I also remember there were years she didn’t want anything but as I said last year I gave her me that still made me feel guilty. My three aunts I spoke off are all Moms’ Sister-in-laws.   Rosemary was Dad’s oldest sister.   She is the last remaining of Dad’s siblings.   Their brother Joe died many years ago and before Dad died.   Their Sister Pat died in ...
