The step to Memory

Today is the FOS/Step off Memory Walk for Bridges Healthcare.   Its 5k (3.3) mile walk I think (it may be shorter).   The walk starts at 9 but the whole event starts at 8.   I have the phone charging again.   I have my clothes in the dryer and I am heading to the shower now.   I have to have a couple of shakes before I get going so that I don’t get sick or dehydrated.   Actually I will have water with me when I get there too.    It’s supposed to be 73 and cloudy today and the possible thunder shower is expected.   It should be a comfortable walk I just hope the rain holds off until I get home.   Today will be a full day.   When I get home I am going to have to start tagging stuff for the dump run before Lawn Guy gets here.   I am getting anxious about this right now.   Maybe we will talk more about it today but I don’t want to waste his time. J should be here by 7 and hopefully some of the stuff will be ...

Dear Friends

August 3, 2013 Dear Friends: I was just taking a look online and was reminded that two incredible things are taking place this weekend. Today is the St Vincent's Swim across the Sound and tomorrow is Jordan's Ride Home. Swim across the Sound is a grassroots organization within St Vincents Medical Center that helps provide education, supplies (I believe) and other things for cancer patients.  You can read more on this awesome cause .  This is the 26th year of this event and a number of my friends participate in some way with this event.  Sadly I don’t think I can do the swim but maybe one day help out in other ways. Jordan's Ride Home is an event to remember our fallen heroes such as  Corporal Jordan Pierson who died on August 26, 2006 in Iraq.  I didn’t know him personally but I met his family through the media and discovered he was from Milford.  I would work with his Mother through the DTC and in our 4th District Committee.   I know thes...

Another Successful weekend draws to a close

Image
Another successful weekend draws to a close.   The sky is pink outside in the South Western sky.   It is partly cloudy and just 47 degrees.   It felt colder earlier but I am still not feeling my old self yet. I left here around 9.   I went straight to the nursing home and chatted with my friends on the picket line who were trying to stay warm.   I went in and chatted with a few of the residents.     Gertrude B was being very uncooperative and swearing.    She continued to speak during the communion moment.   She came back much later.   We started bingo late but that’s okay.    Natalie and Angela came in to make soup for them and it smelled delightful.   I had an opportunity to speak with Natalie about her vacation and her family.   We didn’t have coin for the games so they had my “Undying love and gratitude”.   After the games I headed directly to Telka’s house and we got started.   Th...

I need a vacation

Image
I really need a vacation.   I seem to be very tired lately.   I try to get up and do things and the most I do is check emails, check the forums, shower and get ready for work.   I also have the TV on and I sit there and watch it for up to five or ten minutes.   At night I watch TV and do laundry (sometimes) and stay up until 10.   I also get on line again.   Work is fine for the most part I get the work done (well the daily stuff) and every day I work on the re-address mail but there doesn’t seem to be enough time to get it all done.   I realize that I get online but I really try to limit the time I am on there.   As long as there is no stress and I don’t feel stress unless people refuse to do as I ask about the mail:   people have been sending mail in the large envelopes with the delivery address in the right hand corner when it should be in the middle of the envelope.   Home life is fine.   Mom has been antsy about the...

Dear Debra

Dear Debra: It is 9 at night and my long day has come to an end. The rest of the work day went pretty well. The sun came out and I got most if not all of the daily stuff done. I do have to do the postage tallies and the readdress mail (always have to do that actually) but I can do that when I first get there until the lockbox comes to me. The sun stayed out for the entire ride to the doctor’s office. I had a moment of shear panic when I couldn’t find the street for the doctor’s office. It is on this street but the sign at the beginning of the street that you see from Cherry Street was gone. I went by it twice and had to circle around and try again. I thought for sure I was hallucinating it all. I eventually got there and safely. I had to wait to sign in and then I was able to get the blood test (the results were good) it means I don’t have to go for another two weeks to check it but keep at the same dosage as this past week. I was on my way home by 5. I came home freshened...

Messy Monday

Today started out with a really messy weather. By mid morning we had gotten a thunder and lightening storm but no major damage like Mardi got up in her area. The sun came out again for a short time and then by the time I left Debra’s the sky started opening up again. I thought I heard some thunder a short time ago but nothing continuous. Today was Diva’s return. She kept mostly to herself at least that’s what I thought. I found out later she was talking often to “P” (the woman who has been doing her job these last several months). . This concerns me because if “P” over hears me. “P” was assigned to help me with the mail. I had her do the readdress mail (the tedious stuff she called it). When I first was giving her instructions on what to do-she kept saying oh I know what to do I was a “senior Admin”. That’s great so what did she ask me if she could batch all the interoffice stuff together? The way I wanted her to do it was. Condense all the mail going to say one particular...

Haven't been up long

I haven’t been up too long and it felt great. Mom was up before me and reading her paper and having her morning coffee. I am not sure what she is doing today. I have my morning events minus church so I probably will see Sis. It looks like some of my classmates from Live Oaks School class of 77 had a mini-reunion in Florida. These four live in Florida near each other (well most of them do). I am not sure what they did probably have dinner and took pictures. It would be good if some of us could do that now. Mom’s class of 44 does that all the time and then when it is time for their big reunion they get together again. Unfortunately her class is getting smaller and smaller. I can’t believe it is in the mid 70’s at 8 in the morning. Some one yesterday mentioned it will be a very hot summer and it is starting already. Yes it certainly is. I don’t always mind it I like it (until the sweat pours off my face or into my eyes). I just have a few things to do today like I said but I hope to ...

Bingo, Pie Baking, Lost Family Members

Hey everyone hope all is well. It’s been a long day here and so I won’t be on long. Last night had a great time but left my cell phone in Roberta’s car last night so I was lost with out it until this evening. I can honestly say I am now into a new card game. It’s the Military Whist Card game . It was a lot of fun and I did pretty well my first time playing. Some took it way too seriously and others were just so fun with it. There were snacks and cake and coffee during the three hour game. Needless to say I part took in that as well. Ended up not feeling well and spending time in the bathroom after the event. It was quite embarrassing. We were back home by 11 and I watched TV and shortly after midnight went to bed. This morning I stayed in bed until maybe 8. I wanted to be up early so I could get to the folk mass at St Mary’s. That was not “in the cards”. I got ready for Bingo and made a quick stop for breakfast and Dunkin Doughnuts. I had their smoked house egg and cheese sandwich...

I did it!

Today was very cool. I got up early and started getting ready for breakfast and the walk. Mom was having breakfast for her self and then realized she had to get ready for the birthday party. I called Liz for some directions for Mom and had a few moments to chat with Liz. Dave came after 9 and we headed to Cracker Barrel Old Country Restaurant up by the highway and we were seated promptly and ordered our pancakes. Dave had blueberry and I had plain with cherries on top and whip cream. I had juice and coffee. We had some time to catch up on some things and we even chatted with waitress who waited on us. She was quite nice. After we ate it was about 10 and we headed to Killingworth and to Chatfield Hallows. We arrived about 11 or so despite our not paying attention to the GPS. However it got us back to where we needed to be and we began following the huge sign that said “Chatfield Hollows” this way. We registered and chatted with the organizers Genovese Salvatore (my friend from...

I met Governor Gaitling!

Today I had a wonderful day. It started off with Breakfast with my two nieces who were visiting from PA and with my sister and her husband. The day ended with a fundraiser for CT House Speaker James Amann. For those who don't know he is running for the Democratic Party for Governor in 2010. Among the guest was Actor James Noble. Mr. Noble is best known as Governor Gene Gaitling (sp?) of the TV show Benson. I had a lovely chat with him. We talked about his co-stars from the show and what they were up to. Mr. Noble has been living in lower Fairfield CT for the last four years. He told me about his lovely late wife and how they were looking into moving into Milford. He told me about how he met Mr. Amann while on a set for a movie that was being filmed here in CT. Connecticut is becoming known as Hollywood East to help not only the entertainment industry to find new locations but to Make connecticut more available for films such as the one Mr Noble was starring in. I really enjoyed my...

Brian M turns 14 today

Oh man do I feel old! Brian M is turning 14 years old today. He is the youngest son of my niece /nephew Cheryl and Mike. They are having a party for him as they do every year for him. It usually is a wonderful picnic and the weather is usually pretty great. He is going into high school this September too. Brian was the ring bearer for Liz and Nelson (his grandparents) 6 years ago. Liz was there when he was born too. Nelson was out in the waiting room like most men are. We usually go and have fun. Of course we eat a lot too. I need to get him a card when I am out this morning. It looks like it will be a beautiful day today the sun is shining bright. The temperature is currently 60 degrees which is nice. I guess. It was sixty yesterday and it was too cold for me. I think I heard it is supposed to get up into the 80's later on. This morning I washed my jeans and ironed the pants Mom soaked for me and while I am waiting for them to dry I am going to take a shower and wor...

Mohegan Bus trip

It is after 6 am on a cool Saturday morning. I have been up for about forty-five minutes now. I have been on line for a while checking out my emails and forums. My outlook express is working perfectly after make the change that I got in the email yesterday. Today is the day the bus trip to the Casino. It leaves the commuter parking lot by 3 and we won’t be back until probably ten. Mom is worrying about what I will have to eat up there. I told her not to. Bob is coming over with his truck to take Mom to Costco to pick up a table and chairs for outside. He is supposed to be here around 10 and also fix the upstairs toilet. That’s great news because it has been a pain to use it. It is now quarter of 9 and I have not done much of anything. Well I did work on the birthday list but I was referring to the ironing and going to the bank. Mom got up a little while ago and isn’t feeling well. She said she didn’t sleep well at all that she was getting sick during the night. By 10:30 I w...

A long Monday

It is after 9:30 Monday night. I am heading to bed. Work went well still have to finish today’s mail. Shirley was on vacation still and spent time online. I sent Lisa S in Reimbursement a e-card for her birthday and I know she got it by 10. After work I ended up going to the fundraiser for Kerri. The fundraiser was great got to see many people and eat lots of food. Patrick came too. David was being a schmuck and had to get ready for one of his trips. Heidi Voight Miss Connecticut was in attendance with State Senator John Harris. We got home by 7:30. I got into some jeans and Watered some of the flower beds and checked some emails and watched TV. I got an email from a friend of mine from the Hercdom, Sorbodom and it seems she lost her 17 year-old in a car accident in early June. I just sent her a sympathy card. I am too tired to update the birthday list or anything else. I will say good night…
