Last Vestiges of Summer

I know that we still have another month or two of summer but today it seemed like everyone was out enjoying as much as they could.   My neighbors were working in their yards, I saw bicyclists out riding, Joggers running, and a basketball tourney going on at the local park.   I took my drive to the post office and did okay.   I ran into Christine one of my co-workers.   We chatted while she was weighing her mail and I mailed my letter and picking up mine.   It’s been beautiful.   It is 85 degrees out and now starting to get what I call overcast.   I don’t think it’s supposed to rain today but it wouldn’t hurt.   It is supposed to get very humid this coming week. We have new neighbors.   Maria has new tenants that moved in yesterday and I think are almost finished moving in today.   Neighbor Don met them yesterday and seemed to have good vibes.   The other house that was flipped may have new owners too.   There wa...

Big things Happening

Mom tells me we get connected to the new sewer system today.  I wasn’t sure when it was going to happen but its been in the works for a while now.  Kim and her family started getting connected probably earlier this and so did Don and his family.  Kim posted pictures earlier and she and her daughters were tearing up her side yard a couple of weeks back in preparation for it.  I really don’t know what the next step is.  Is there some sort of mechanism that turns it on?    All I know is we will start getting sewer bills.  Is it weird that I am looking forward to that? Telka emailed us about dates for June meeting it looks like the girls have finals and need to study for them. She also asked about the picnic and I said any date but the weekend of June 21st as that’s the weekend of MIke and Ashley’s Wedding.  I can’t believe our meetings will be ending for the summer.  We still have the creative writing contest reception later this m...

Summer Camps

I was wondering lately about summer camps. Now that summer is in full swing do you send your kids to summer camp? Where do you find them? I recently checked out this site and it looked like a really good resource of day camps and residential camps all over the country and specialized programs. There even some right at Yale University. I can probably expect to see young people around the campus as well this year. I did notice that some camps start in mid June. There are a lot of school systems that finish late don’t they? I have been to two residential camps (maybe three with my family). One was in Sharon CT (a Girl Scout camp from hell) and a Boy Scout camp in Winsted. My explorer post went to that one for a week every summer to learn things about the police department. The third one was for camping and they had activities. It was called World Fellowship in New Hampshire. Two of my cousins worked there during a few summers. Anyway, when I would visit the sites for the camps...

Haven't been up long

I haven’t been up too long and it felt great. Mom was up before me and reading her paper and having her morning coffee. I am not sure what she is doing today. I have my morning events minus church so I probably will see Sis. It looks like some of my classmates from Live Oaks School class of 77 had a mini-reunion in Florida. These four live in Florida near each other (well most of them do). I am not sure what they did probably have dinner and took pictures. It would be good if some of us could do that now. Mom’s class of 44 does that all the time and then when it is time for their big reunion they get together again. Unfortunately her class is getting smaller and smaller. I can’t believe it is in the mid 70’s at 8 in the morning. Some one yesterday mentioned it will be a very hot summer and it is starting already. Yes it certainly is. I don’t always mind it I like it (until the sweat pours off my face or into my eyes). I just have a few things to do today like I said but I hope to ...

Today is

Today is the first day of spring. Actually there is about three hours and forty minutes left of this day. Spring arrived at 7:28 this morning and it was very warm. I don’t know what the temperature was for the rest of the day as I stayed in. This week will be very hectic as it is not only month end but Year End as well. Gayle had to come to me a couple of times and tell me to tell persons like Jim from Gofor that I am really busy. She does and is getting antsy about the mail that’s on the table. She knows I am in control of it but it still makes her anxious. I had a great session with Debra today. I told her of the events of last week and how my ankle was progressing. Well actually at the moment I was telling her it was aching. We talked about the activities for me for the next several months. We discussed when our next session would be (July 12, 2010). I promised to write her as much as I could. After the session I came home. The ride home was okay. I saw a turkey on the ...
