Dear Friends

August 14, 2013 Dear Friends: Did you see this?  I heard Denise talk about this at work this morning and decided to look it up.  It isn’t a nationwide mandate but CVS is going to make it policy for their entire chain.  What I object to is the store clerk out and out lied and said it was a state law.  Why would I even trust anything from this chain if they lie?  Yes I am sure many pharmacies have lied but I haven’t found out.  I think it is illegal for the chain to set this precedence and I hope someone stops them. I had another healthy breakfast courtesy of Mama Joanie...She had brought in a Vienna Finger Cookies the other day and every day I have had a small handful that ends up being a lot.  Today was no different.   Yes I know its not her fault and yes I know I could have said no.  I love me my cookies.  At break time I went and got something a little more healthy and hopefully cancels out the damage somehow. I found ou...

Our Annual Trip to NY

We had a late start getting up for the day but we managed to leave the house a little after 9. We headed straight to town for the train and while we waited for the train (it was brutally cold) we waited in the waiting area inside the small train station. It was the first time either of us had been inside and it was a pleasant experience. There was a coffee clutch but in the next area there was a sitting room to watch TV and above were vintage model trains from a circus train to the updated Amtrak line on rails near the ceiling. We didn’t have long to wait. After having a brief chat with the cashier in the coffee clutch we caught our train. The train ride was uneventful (except for the loud young woman sitting in front of us) Mom found her annoying. I think it was the pitch of the young girl’s voice. Mom couldn’t hear the other woman occasionally speaking but I could. We made several stops until we got to Westport where the rest of the ride became an express to Grand Central Sta...

Cruise Around the Hudson Harbor

We left the house about 8:30. It was a bit strained because Mom and I had a fight over stupid stuff last night. Anyway we got the 9 am train to NY. The ride itself was quiet and quick. Mom slept while I watched the scenery pass by. It was 10:30 when we arrived in NY. We made stops at the Market place for extra bread and to the Information booth for directions to the pier. After we did a bathroom run and keeping an eye on some woman’s bags while she did a bathroom run we headed out to the bus with our handy coin in hand. Three buses we needed drove by us. That was because we were not at the exact spot to be picked up. WE finally got a cab. That cost $11 including a tip. When we arrived we emptied out the cab and we headed to the ticket booth. I heard Jim calling out to us and so we gave him our stuff and we went to the booth. We went to the boat. It turned out to be the wrong boat. We wanted the 12:30 –three hour tour and we got the 12 pm –two hour tour. So for the next two ...

Busy few days

i wrote out an entry but haven't posted it yet so i decided to do this cold. it has been rather a few busy days. Thursday i worked and went to the DTC event and won the raffle. :) will come in very handy. i ate lots too. We couldn't park in the parking lot for some reason. Friday-worked, and hung out at home. Did some letter writing and laundry (whoohoo). Saturday went and finally picked up dry cleaning. New Policy is any thing below $50 cash only and above checks are accepted. That was a little inconvenient because i had to go to the bank prior to going. Sunday-Wow what a day! Went to Bingo and in the afternoon went to NYC to see Diane's play. "Honor" taken from "As you Like it". it was held at The Hudson Guild Theater on West 26th Street. We got to see Diane before and after the performance. She was part of the Talk back and it was awesome. WE had dinner at Chipolte on 7th Avenue. The 5 borough Bike Ride was also taking place and delaye...
