December 31, 2013 Dear Friends:     May you all have a wonderful New Year’s Eve! The afternoon so far has been good.  Mom is in much better spirits then when I left here yesterday.  She was very put out that I didn’t get the tea she wanted when she wanted.  She became verbally abusive and I got angry.  I have to admit it wasn’t long but it was nuts.     Last night once I got back to the house was alright.  I got the dogs out a couple of more times and that was a bit much.  I have a feeling I hurt Preston’s feelings when I had to correct him about the pulling.  Let’s just say by the end of the night and this morning he cuddled.  I also have a feeling he may have peed in the bed.  So there is a strong possibility he wasn’t as forgiving as I would like. December 30, 2013 Dear Friends:     Well as you can see I was able to write again.  I tried to write in bound book but I just couldn’t.     The whole concept of time seemed to be lost on me yesterday.     I stopped at Micky D’s to get some dinner and then headed to the house.  I made a couple of attempts to walk the pups they were not having it.  I finally made them (especially when the rain stopped) around 9:30.      The rest of the night was a lazy night.  I spoke to Jim on the phone and made a couple of text messages to Lawyer Bob.  This morning was a fairly lazy morning.  I walked the dogs and spent most of it watching NCIS or something on the tube.      I finally got up and showered and came back to the house and talked with Mom who seems to be feeling slightly better.  She wants me to go to staples along with Trader Joe’s for her Tea.  I am also going t...

December 27, 2013 Dear Friends: Sorry for the absenteeism.  Nancy’s computer at the house is now uncooperative and I haven’t had much time to do much except for the occasional email check when I get back to my house.     The last couple of days consisted of work, spending time with Mom and a lot of sleeping and TV watching and of course the dog walking.   There have been times when I am seriously reconsidering getting dogs for the future.  The pups have been pulling a lot and it can be really painful for my body.  How can I do this in the future?  Not just for them but anyone who wants me to watch their dog(s).  How will I be able to do it for my own?  For the last couple of days I have had (what I consider) serious trouble getting out of the car from midday to the end of the day. December 26, 2013 My Dear Friends:     Well today was very busy.  I had six hours to get the mail open and sorted and delivered and for the most part got it done.  I couldn’t do much of the re-address mail but that can be another day.  It was so cold in the office and I was drinking coffee just to keep warm.  I was able to chat (but not long with both Marlene & Susan) I talked with her as I was leaving for the day.  I will probably be hammered with Lockbox tomorrow.     After work I headed to Milford.  I made the important stops that I wanted to and then I came back to the house by 3:30.  The time just seemed to slip away so quickly.  I got the dogs outside and they did their job.  I was getting a little annoyed with Preston because he kept pulling me and it was really hurting my arm and hands.       Once I was done with all that I relaxed and watched TV.  You know how was cu...

I am thankful Mom is here to live life the way she wants I am thankful Mom was here to celebrate Christmas her way.  Quietly before anyone asks. I am thankful for my family warts and all. I am thankful for a job I love I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for the volunteer organizations I belong too. I am thankful for the changing seasons. I am thankful for my health even though it scares me at times. I am thankful for the home I love. I am thankful the snow and ice were gone this week.

December 25, 2013 Dear Friends:     Merry Christmas everyone.  I hope you and yours have a blessed day.   My intentions were to go to 8:30 mass this morning but that just didn’t work.  My arms were not cooperating this morning so I decided to finish the laundry and walk the dogs and of course watch TV.  I still have to put together the gifts for this afternoon.  I am in a real panic because I can’t find Jim’s and Liz tells me that he will be here today! I talked with Mom as I am typing this and she hasn’t been up long but is feeling better she says.  I don’t know if that means she is going with me this afternoon or not.  We will see when I get there after church. December 24, 2013 Dear Friends:     Well it is here!  The Christmas Holiday has arrived.  I am awake at 4 in the morning. Since I didn’t do any surfing last night of any kind.  The boys are sleeping in the bed room.  I think Preston is put out that I got up but I hadn’t checked on the mice brothers at all until this morning.     Yesterday was not the best day.  I got on Mom’s proverbial shit list when the room wasn’t cleaned enough for Olivia to do the job.   Mom was starting to get obnoxious and so I hung up on her.  I still do not understand the concept of cleaning the house before the cleaning lady comes.  It is a freaking waste of time, energy and fucking money.  I called Liz to tell her about it.  She was sorry that it happened but she repeated the same story (she has been doing that a lot lately I have noticed) she told me the night before.  Mom was still annoyed with me when I got hom...

December 22, 2013 Dear Friends: Good Afternoon!  I am with the pups and they are fine.  I have been here nearly an hour or so.  The first one to come greet me surprisingly enough was packy.  I had to go to Preston and chat with him and he sort of growled at me.  Once I said time to go out they both came running.  I took them on the beach where we walked around on the sand a house or two down and they both did their job.  Got to do that more often!  While we were on the beach I noticed some ducks move quickly into the water as we were nearing their territory and they moved quickly out when we headed back home.  They are both in the bedroom sleeping.   I am surfing the net as best as i forgot my password directory. I actually will have to go back home later after I do more shopping.  My first stop will be to Lassie’s Restaurant for Liz & Nelson’s gift.  I will get Chris’s on the way home from work tomorrow...

December 21, 2013 Dear Friends: Well its Saturday and I have been awake a few hours now.  I did some laundry paid shared expenses and surfed the net and answered emails and watched TV.  But I felt I wasn’t getting a lot done. I went to bed around 10 last night and slept for the night pretty well.  My wrists are hurting and so is my left arm.  I have taken Tylenol so hopefully it will be okay. I had to make some early morning phone calls just to make sure I knew where cousin bill was coming.  As the morning wore on I talked with Nancy and Patrick and they gave me the skinny on little Packy.  Liz called around 10 and said she was on her way to pick up Mom. December 20, 2013 Dear Friends:     Has it been two days since I really wrote?  Regretfully it has.  It has been very hectic and very busy and right now I am not up to doing much.  I will have to though.  Let’s see where did I leave off last?     Mom has now been in the hospital two days.  She had the stint put in late yesterday afternoon and already is doing better according to the doctor and of course Liz.  While Mom was in the surgical room we all gathered in her room and waited.  Once she was settled into her room again we left just before 8.  She was pleased to see us altogether.  She slept well she said when I saw her at lunch.  Jim was there and after I got to the room he took off for here.  I spent some time with her and Tessa and then when Mom was getting sleepy we left.        When I got there after 4:30 again Liz was there (she had called me earlier to tell me Mo...

December 18, 2013 Dear Friends:     I am thankful that I was able to get out of my driveway.  I had a late start and it took me a few minutes to get out.  The drive in wasn’t too bad.  The traffic was slow but the roads seemed clear.   I was so tired today and still had so much to do.  I was hoping to get more shopping done by tonight and get the garbage out but something changed. Mom got a call from the oncologist/Hemotologist (Dr. Lu) he told her to go to ER at the hospital in New Haven.  It seems the liver was starting to go bad.  He wanted her to have a Ultrasound. So as we were discussing it the option of having me go with her while Tess drove her liz arrived.  That was bizarre to begin with.  Mom didn’t realize she had been talking to Liz.  Anyway after some phone calls and discussions with M&T, and my crying.  Liz took her to the hospital.  She called me twice the last time was a few minutes...

December 17, 2013 Dear Friends:     I am going to do a quick Daily thank-you that I will add on to my Thankful Thursday list in a couple of days.       I am thankful I was able to get to and from work safely.  Today was the storm they had been predicting for a few days.  For some it started at 7 am I was leaving by 7:30 so it had been going good by then.  Luckily most if not all the schools had been closed for the day.  This should make parents and kids thrilled to death now and later.  How was this affecting me?  The drive in wasn’t bad.  The ride home took me nearly an hour.  I was going 20 miles an hour all the way home.  Avoiding the major highways.  The only problem I have now is trying to get out of my driveway.   I am stuck in the driveway and I tried a half dozen times to fix it.       As you can see I abruptly ended last night’s entry.  I wa...

December 16, 2013 Dear Friends:     It is has been a morning.  My intention was to get up and out of the house by 7.  I wasn’t as successful.  I ended up staying in bed a little longer than I should have and I did iron but I didn't leave until way after 7.  I managed to get to the office way after 8.  TRaffic was bottled up by the garage as usual.     I got to work and helped Mama Joanie with something and that got to work.  Started on the postage stuff from friday and then worked my way to the lockbox that came a short time later.  The Post office mail came but it was heavy so I spent most of the day on that and will have to finish the lockbox tomorrow.     I heard from my friend John B he looked into the situation with the plowing and said the construction company is responsible to get the driveways and street cleared until the project is done.  They were also told to get a machine in here to...

December 15, 2013 Dear Friends:     We had a power blip about 4 am this morning  or longer because the computers had to be rebooted and logged onto and the electric clocks were blinking and the cable box was re-setting itself.  The snow and or rain stopped sometime after 2.  Yeah I was awake at that hour.   Apparently we had another power failure just before I got home from bingo this morning.   I am thrilled to report that it didn’t last long.     I left the house around 10 or so after taking a half hour to clear off the car.  I think there was an inch of ice on it and I almost ripped the windshield wiper blades when I used them to move the ice.  I also might have done damage to the seal for the windshield it self.      Bingo went well.  Angela was there for staff members and she was serving coffee when I got there.  I got out of the boots and switched shoes and started setting up....

December 14, 2013 Dear Friends      It is after 8 and it is still snowing.  There was indeed a lull in the snow fall earlier today and Mom took the opportunity to go out and do a few errands.  While she did that I managed to shovel the sidewalks.  A lot of good that was considering its all covered again.  I will have to do it again tomorrow.     Other than laundry, the sidewalks, and attempted to help with dinner I haven’t done much.    I did start letter to the kids but haven’t gotten far.  Mom took a nap this afternoon after she took some antihistamine.    Now I think she is watching TV or the TV is watching her.     As most of you have noticed today was the 1 year anniversary of the Newtown Shooting.  Many places around the country marked in many different ways.    As we remember that tragic day a horrible and deadly replay happened  in Colorado yesterday....

December 14, 2013 Dear Friends:     Greetings from snowy Milford.  The snow came bright and early this morning and by noon time it slowed up.  According to weather.com we are supposed to get snow all day and it will turn to rain over night.  It amazes me how quickly the weather changes constantly.  Here I was all set to settle in house for the weekend and I may have to go to bingo tomorrow after all. I slept in this morning until about 9.  I was glad because I needed after what I consider a long week.  Between work, shopping, extracurricular activities.  Since I wasn’t going out today I thought it would be good. Mom got up and has been doing various things.  She is having severe itching all over her body (mostly likely due to the medication she is on) and it has her on edge.  Which would explain a lot of agitation.  She will be calling the doctor about it sometime.  As long as i know that I will try and be a...
