A Lovely Afternoon

Spent a lovely afternoon at the Mercy Center to hear a friends poetry reading as well as music and art.  Each of them experienced life threatening events and learned how to deal with it through different aspects of art.  It really was a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon. The only downside was I had been sneezing and sniffling through the entire day and I just was beginning to feel miserable.  It all started before I left for bingo.  I am thinking that the pollen and the rain started it all for me.   I left the house just after 8:30 my plans to attend an early mass went out the window and so I headed to Dunkin donuts for breakfast.  I went to the nursing home and had breakfast and then went in and hung around.  I was there before everyone came in.  AFter awhile people came in and so I spent time chatting.  Time sort of just got away from us and then we got ready for bingo.  We did start on time and finished on time...

Festival Day

There are three festivals going on in the area. They are The Walnut Beach festival, The Woodmont Day, and the Savin Rock Festival. The Walnut Beach one is tomorrow and the Woodmont Day and Savin Rock Festival is today. I am going to the Savin Rock Festival to hear Gayle’s friend Eugene play with the 5 Satins . The Woodmont Day festival is basically one huge block party. Streets around the park are closed off to most vehicle traffic and there are games, rides, and food. I have been to it over the years both as a participant and volunteer. It was fun. Before I do that though I need to work and hopefully get stuff done at home. I have already cleared the area for the guys to install new electrical stuff. I probably will be online through out the morning.

The Concerts

We left the house around 4 after a brief visit from Tessa and Mike. They were dropping off my calendar and some rolls for Mom. We got to the Casino by five after a few slow moments on the highway. Once we got to the casino we headed to one of the buffet restaurants (I think it was seasons) we paid for our meals and then were seated at our table. We got our drink orders and then headed to the food. I can’t begin to even tell you what I had. Suffice it to say it was a lot. After we finally finished eating we took a walk around the shops and did some window shopping. I even got a back and foot massage at Brookstone. We were surprised to find the store that had the big huge shark tanks had closed some time over the last few months. Around 20 of 8 we went to the ticket window and got the tickets. We went to our seats way, way, way up in the nose bleed section. It was a bit disconcerting because we were only a few up there and when I was in my seat I could feel my legs go week and m...

August 9, 2007

It is now after 12:30. I have been listening to one of the Native American radio stations on the internet radio. The song is Bear in Danger by Mary Youngblood. It is really cool. I was hoping it would soothe me into sleep but it hasn't. I knew I should have not had the coffee so late in the day yesterday. That coffee is what is keeping me up right now. Now I am trying to think of things that will get me to sleep. I probably could write up last night's minutes. Well I managed to fall asleep after 2 this morning. I had a great sleep. I stayed in bed until 6:10 and got up emptied the garbage, emptied the dehumidifier, showered and dressed for work. Mom was up when I left for work. Today is absolutely beautiful. The sun is shining and there is a cool breeze. I had no trouble getting to work. Unfortunately can't say the same for others in the Groton New London area. There was a truck accident bright and early this morning. I have been following my to do list pretty closely. I ma...
