One Day

It is now one day before I leave for my trip. Today I will do  the errands that need to be done before leaving.  I have to go to the library and print out the boarding pass.    The email arrived 10 minutes ago.  Prior to this I have been checking my emails for the last two days and the only thing I got was “what to expect” on the flight.  It basically shared what amenities I have and what refreshments will be available.  DO gave me a neck pillow to sleep along with the plugs and earphones for the movies.  I have found the puzzle books I am taking and left them downstairs.  I still have to find the book I want to read and I am going to bring hardcover journal in case I can’t get to the google documents.

I got an early morning pick up confirmation from my sister and so that’s taken care of.  I told her I took today off for a couple of errands and waiting for Livia.  Which I have to do something for that.

errands to do as well before I go to the challenge tonight.  I just remembered I have to go to the Quest diagnostics for the tests.

Beautfiful Morning

Dear Friends:

It is Friday .  I got back just before 10 from my run to the DMV.  It was quite nice.  I had scheduled for 10 am thinking it would take that long but the staff members accommodated me and got me in earlier.  A very nice couple got me a iced coffee while waiting.  It turned out they were the parents of one of the teachers from Sandy Hook Elementary school.  She saved several of the students by putting them in a closet.

While there I ended up getting a new picture taken. It is a requirement I guess.   It had to be done like three times.  The first two with glasses (there was a glare) and the final one without.  It actually looks good.  I will get the new on at the end of September.  In the mean time I can use the old one and the copy of what will be arriving  in September.  The fees were the only problem with that but the woman explained break it down to $12 a year.

Around 11 I left here to get to the financial advisor meeting and it really didn’t take long.  I am doing good (could be doing better).  He feels i should have been contributing to this for the last 20 years.  Mutual funds etc.  So now I have to start and should be playing catch up between now and the time I retire.  I have to mail out a check for it to start.

NOw that I am home I have had a chicken sub from Nardelli’s and planned to keep it for dinner tonight.  It didn’t work.  It never made it past 2...I was still hungry and I was grazing on it while reading a blog about a young lady's  trip to Oregon.

I will be having a phone session with Debra later on in the evening as I asked her if we could have it (I don’t really want to go back into the city).  She doesn’t mind.  Waving to Debra..:).

I was going to go to the bank and turn in coin but its now getting late and I know I am tired.  I have already fallen asleep twice since i have been home.

No mail today.  This is a mixed blessing as I can probably work on some letters.  Depending on when I start to move again.

I know I had the idea of going to get a new printer but then I thought about what it would also entail. Setting up the program on the computer(s); usually i end up messing it up or something goes inevitably wrong.  My confidence level on things lately is shaky at best.

I know I need more more cat supplies and need to go for those.  THe rest of the day is going to be quiet.

Going to bed soon

I didn’t start getting ready to go out until maybe 1 or 2.  I finished up a couple of letters and updating pen pal files (and moving them around) before that and then took a shower and started to go.  As I was leaving I saw some friends and chatted with them.  They were walking around the “district”.  I told them of my weekend adventures and after a while I took off to do the errands I needed done.

My first place was to the dry cleaners to pick some stuff up and the highways was a little slow.  I have no idea what it was (it happens alternating weekends).  I went to the Dollar store and picked up a few things for the Ladies guild supper.  I came home and relaxed for a short time.

I had steak for supper and got back to working on the pen pal files.  I was really making myself crazy about what I wanted to do. I had to remind myself to focus.  The process isn’t really important but I managed to slowly get some things done.  Unfortunately I am starting to go loopy and need to get ready for bed.

The kitties spent the better part of the day and evening upstairs in my old bedroom.  They both came out a couple of times for various needs.  They haven’t been down since.  I know the door slammed shut at one point but it didn’t seem to faze them.  I did end up closing the windows while I was in there.

I have been getting updates from Dr. T and a few others and of course the news about the Hurricane that is now Category 2 to 3.  According to T there are curfews in place already.  Lots of people without power already.

I need to go to sleep…I just need a break from all that I did today.

Labor Day 2017

Happy Labor Day 2017 to all those who work hard and make things possible in our world.

I have been fairly busy (I would like to think I was).  I was able to wake up around 6 (second time this long weekend) but I didn’t sleep well and there was a party going on across the street-again.

We had our regular Monday morning routine but I slept again until 8.  I got on line for a while.  I did some solitaire games.  Worked on pen pal letters and files.  Got some more laundry wrapped up.

After I did that I got ready to go the stores.   I had gotten my swap partner and the instructions and list of items.  I took off for Staples first and got some items that I use for pen paling, then off to Wal*mart and Joanne’s for stuff (more fall related items).  My final two spots were the Pharmacy and then Adams to get lunch.

When I got home I took my prednisone and then had lunch.  I watched some travel shows on the newly revamped CPTV Spirit channel.

Now I just want to take another nap. I really do but I have still many things to do.

I had a pleasant surprise last night.  Tiger slept on the bed last night.  Twice.  The first time she went up by herself and kept herself by my feet.  She allowed me to pet her and then she laid down for an hour and half.  It was about then when I needed to make a bathroom run and I patted her on the head and she took off.  Then second after I came down here to be with her I managed to coax her up to the bedroom and she stayed for a while.  I don’t really know as I fell asleep finally after the neighbors’ party.

Right now though I need to organize the new files I will be having for pals (I hope).

Messy day but not as bad

Today was messy but not as bad as they the weather forecasters has said it would be.  I got up around 2 this morning and noticed the ice and slush (to me it looked like snow)and by the time I was ready to take Preston for a walk it was raining more than anything.  It wasn’t anything Preston wanted to be out in and so our walk was cut short.

This gave me an opportunity to head back to the house and check on the kitties.  They were wandering around the downstairs when I came in and seemed like they wanted to be fed.  Actually Sky was tiger took some time coming down.  I fed them and got my coffee and got their boxes cleared out.  I made sure I spent a little more time with Tiger as I remembered what Mardi had told me in her recent reply to her blog.  Kitties don’t like being alone...I have to say SKy followed me around and rubbed up against me alot. and Tiger came on to the couch with me and they did like the attention.

While I was there I filled out some papers and watched TV even though I swore I wouldn’t.  I had to leave by 9 to be in New Haven for a CT-Scan.  I showered and dressed and was back out the door by 9.

The Drive to New Haven was not bad.  I got to the parking garage and was on my way to DR.  I am really glad I parked in the garage.  It wasn’t that far of a walk to DR and they validate parking.

The drive back to Milford was equally good.  I stopped at the cardiologist to drop of the long overdue FMLA papers for him to fill out and sign.  He won’t be in until after the new year.  They will hopefully call me when they are available.  I will then submit them when I get back.  I first have to find the number to fax them.  I am pretty sure the number is somewhere on the other copies.

I stopped at a Deli near the house and got lunch and dinner.  Sausage and Onions sandwich and pasta salad with Deep River chips.  What is Deep River chips you ask?  They are Potato chip company out of Deep River Connecticut.  They were featured on a local newscast last month as highlight of trip.  After I picked them up I came home to Preston.
I had gotten word from Olivia her boyfriend was going to stop by today and pick stuff up for her.  When he arrived we talked about the holidays and my adventure with young Preston.  Olivia has got a nice young man for a boyfriend and i wish them well.

After he left I continued to watch TV and almost fell asleep.  Spent most of the afternoon doing that as well.  So it was a fairly lazy day.

I know it's only Tuesday but I can’t help feel this week/recess is going by so fast. I always think the week goes by fast but this time more so than usual.  There is a few more days of 2015 and the next weekend is 2016 and a busy one at that.

I will talk more about that later...for now I gotta see what Preston is up to.

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

WEll I am done.  I finished work, and I have gotten my new shoes.  1 pair of Natural balances and a pair of clogs that look great.  I got some bottled water and I have a blanket and flashlight for safety bag (liz’s idea.  I Had dinner and put the garbage is out and if there is anything that is not done can now wait until I get home on Saturday.

I am leaving here at 5 am and hope to be at Jim’s by 9:30.  Of course I only told Jim in an email and text message and yet he still calls to ask.  He was trying to figure out logistics because he has to take Jamie to the dentist and he wanted me to join him to pick up.  So when I get closer to the town I have to call.

I am just going to finish watching NCIS and hit the sack.

I will check in tomorrow night.

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

It is a beautiful day here or so I am told.  I haven’t been outside since I got to work.  I probably will enjoy on my way home from work.

Today has been good.  I wanted to get up early and I did but I started procrastinating after I got out of the bathroom.  I did manage to leave before 7:30 and had no trouble traffic wise until I got into New Haven.  It didn’t last long but it was inconvenient.

I did start getting a headache halfway through the day and I took the tylenol but It seem to take its time to go away.  By the time I left I felt much better.

I got most of the daily stuff done.  My intent is to work on the re-address  mail before it  gets  a huge pile again.  When I got here Tuesday it was small.  When I left it was fairly large.  I organized it to look better.  I still have a lot of the  postage/bad address piles to do.   If the mail volume is as light as it has been for the last two days I may be able to tackle it before the weekend  gets here.  I put my time in for the  beginning of  next week.

I was playing phone tag with Kristin Nolan.  She is the PA for  the Gastro docs and she wanted to go over what needs to be done for the procedure next week.  Well when I got home we were able to talk.  I have to take miralax for the next few days (really glad you had some left over) and as the procedure gets closer take Dulcolax and then the c-prit until that morning.

I did something I have been anxious to do.  I managed to get to Bridges this afternoon and hand over the donations from some of our friends and family that  came to us.  I wasn’t sure I wa going to do it as I started to get sick (dizzy mostly and then a little  stomach sick.)  I felt  better by the time I got Chinese food.  Anyway there  a couple of staff members  who offered their  condolences and complements of you to me.

Mary T sent us a lovely mass card today.  I will be adding to the thank you  list I will be starting those in the next few days.  I need to  start those before the weekend.  I also want to add her address to my address books as well.

Oh the rabbits have been scarce again.  That is until tonight.  There was one at the edge of the back yard.  I am still looking to see if there were anymore but so far not yet.  Oh you won’t believe this but last night I was sitting in the rocking chair and a squirrel climbed up  to the screen door .  I scared it away but I have never seen squirrels  do that.  I remember watching a opossum do it once but that was so many years ago.

Well it is getting dark and the garbage needs to be put out front so I am going to do that and then do some laundry.  I have some blouses that need to  soaked before  washed.

Love you much

Kate

Dear Friends

October 19, 2013

Dear Friends:

I had some time before going off to the Mexican Train game and thought I would check in and let you know how it went at the bank this morning.

It went really well and seemed to take no time at all.  We went inside the area with one of he managers he got the cards and such and got the box and Mom and I looked through it and kept was there in it.  Then we had to fill out some paperwork and then we were done.  I had to make sure Mom heard stuff so it went really well.  We  all have to be there to add Jim’s and Liz’s name to as well.

Our next stop was my own bank for money for the week.  After that we went to our friend Susan Shaw’s Bookstore Collected Stories to buy some books for Jason and Audrey.  Susan wasn’t there but on the campaign trail around the 4th District but her husband was and he suggested we come back Monday.  We made one more stop after that.

Before coming home we stopped at Treats Farm. We picked up some fresh vegetables and Mom had to do some financial stuff with them (not really sure but it was irritating when she didn’t have the right information).  Mary understood none the less.

I heard from James this morning he is doing great.  He is getting very good grades (this is not surprising) and he is just having fun. He tells me he has had little to no problems.   I am not sure if he thought about the other questions I asked but they don’t have to be answered right now.   He is hoping to see us some time soon.

I heard from Jim K in New Britain.  Apparently Mr. David got a hold of Jim’s phone and sent a joke about President Obama to me.  I didn’t get bent out of shape but Jim felt awful.  Dave can be really stupid and ignorant and always points the finger at everyone else for why he does things one reason or another.  Dave is now 50 freaking years old and needs to start growing up.  He has always pushed buttons and its getting quite tiresome.  I can’t begin to tell you the things he says.  I suspect the next time I see him he will shirk responsibility of it.

Well its time for me to take off.  Have a great afternoon…

Love ya,

Kate

How Cool

I had just come home from church and was about to pick up the hose outside and wash down the front porch and I noticed this baby rabbit.  It just sat there until I tapped it and then began to hop away.  It made it as far as the window (and by now farther than that) when it saw its reflection but I was really surprised it did leap or do something earlier.

I spent part of the morning getting my summer clothes out and freshened up and still have more to do but I can do that after I get the green stuff off the porch.

Mom is doctoring up the rice and steak dinner we had last night with sauce and mozzarella.  It does sound good as I have been hungry for the past hour.

I have been answering emails and clearing out some of them from the inbox.  I have already answered the roll call check in and replied to earlier posts.

Mom has been washing the kitchen floor and I went to subway for lunch. I am also watching NCIS marathon.

I have something to do every day this week

As I was getting ready for bed last night I took a few moments to look over my appointment book to prepare for the week and for the first time in what I think is months I have some thing to do every single day this week. Doctor appointments, meetings, parties, hair appointments, and follow up car appointment.

I sure will be looking forward to the weekend coming up that’s for sure. At least my work volume should be normal and I will be on top of it. It is a given that it is getting closer to FY end and that means more pressure and more stress for everyone. I have to remember that it isn’t personal if some one snaps. At least no one will say anything about the mail for the other floors. I have to remember there is mail on the side of the desk that I need to look at today.

So you want to see my schedule this week?

Monday is my session with Debra. We usually discuss the events of the past week and how I dealt with them and what challenges I have for this week. There are about three sessions left before she leaves for her month long vacation. We are planning on having at least two phone sessions. They usually last about 45 minutes and it would be like our regular sessions. We recently started doing this when I was home sick with the blood clot. My intention is to write her in between and send her these entries; she may not get to see them until she gets back in the office in August.

On Tuesday I see Dr. J Becker. She is my Lupus Doctor and has been three months since I last saw her. I have no idea if she even knows I had the incident with the blood clot or if she is aware of the upcoming tests. I know she has to send all lof her reports to my PCP but I don’t know if she even was informed. I am going to have to update those stupid forms about hospital stays and medicine and all that other stuff. I hate filling those out.

Wednesday I see Dr. Rosenblatt he will be discussing the Uterine Fibroid Embolization procedure and possible alternatives. I was trying to find out more information on him but found some tips like taking notes on the experience of the appointment both pro and con. Well I plan on doing that any way. I am not real happy about having to go to Fairfield during commuter time. The traffic going that direction really sucks.

In the afternoon I have to go to Dr. Spanolios office and get my INR testing done. I hope the levels remained the same. I will have to tell them I had to go off them for the oral surgery. The whole thing shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. I will get the new dosage level and new check in time.

On Thursday we are having the 4th District meeting here. I have sent out the reminder last night. No one has replied or acknowledged whether or not they are coming yet. I know of one person that already read it. We are only going to get a few responses but several people will show up without responding either way. That is so frustrating because Mom does a lot to prepare and as I am sure you are aware you don’t know how much to make and what ever.

On Friday is the annual “End of year” Club picnic at Telka’s. it is starting at 2 pm but I won’t be there until 5 pm. I am bringing cole slaw and Mom will be making it as the day gets closer. It is also a graduation party for the girls who graduate this week and of course who have already graduated. It should be really fun.

Saturday morning I get the stitches out of my mouth and we discuss the next step in getting the implant. I am pretty sure that will be more money when the time comes. That part should happen near the end of the summer.

The morning gets to end with a haircut. What better way to end the week? I enjoy Jamie. She is so sweet and I love this Salon. Did I mention that I met up with one of the Stylists from Harbor Lights? I met her at the Awards Dinner last Thursday. Apparently Harbor lights went out of business and are now merged with another one in the Devon area. It was rather awkward moment for me as I didn’t want to tell her I am going some where else now.

I am probably going to have to do all my chores Saturday afternoon. I don’t know what else we have planned for that day I hope nothing as by then I will be tired.

Okay its time for me to get to work. I will see you later.

Enjoying the snow

Well it is now after 12 Mom is making stuffed peppers and I am bopping between my NCIS fandom forums, watching TV, and trying to motivate myself to do laundry. The snow is coming down hard and fast. The temperature is 19 degrees. It is supposed to end later tonight (I am really hoping it doesn’t it).

The cable guy came out to see the phones. The phone jack wasn’t in the wall. Trying to get Mom to check the phones was frustrating. She finally got it. Now all is well. It must have been knocked out some time last weekend. Only one phone was ringing the others were not but still registering on the TV. We were trying to figure out how it came out I figured someone (either Mom or Mike) knocked it out-very easy to do.

Mom got some bad news today. A friend’s husband from the bible study group she is part of past away this morning from Cancer. I am sure the funeral arrangements are for early next week.

I don’t think Mom is going out to lunch with Martha today. I think it would be wise if she didn’t. I thought I heard Mom say that perhaps the United Way dinner tonight was going to be on after all. She said she may have to cancel her self going (I would prefer it actually).

It is now late afternoon: Mom cleared off her car and headed to the store. For all intensive purposes the storm has moved on to the Far East (RI). The Dolan Women helped her a little while doing the rest of the neighborhood. D next door cleared out the driveway. Mom was home by 4 and got a few things. She says the stores were empty.

Spoke to DM and it looks like we are moving the Mexican train game to February 4th and that works for me. Whether or not it works for the others is something to see.

We are eating dinner around 5 and I want to clear out some stuff that’s been sitting in the mailboxes for a long while.

Tell me about your snow storms

Getting Ready for the Party

Good Morning! I will be getting ready for Telka’s party in a few hours. I am not going to be too dressed up but I will be wearing the blue blouse and matching pants. I will be bringing the cream puffs that I am going to be getting shortly.

This morning I am doing some laundry and answering emails. I had one potential pen pal ask me why I want to write women only. I couldn’t really give an answer to I posted to the lists and so far most of them have been responding to tell her “personal preference”.

I have another potential pen pal from Uganda. I love it when people send me emails and don’t tell me where they are from, where they got my name. It is a little unnerving. However, I will ask them and see what happens.

I was able to get all the errands I needed done. I went to Lowes and got nightlight light bulbs, then I went to Costco and got the cream puffs for tonight and stamps. After that I went to the dry cleaners and dropped off the clothes. The traffic was really agitating. People were going through the traffic lights and not paying attention to what they were doing. I was never so happier to get home.

Between the time I got home and the time I got ready for the party I watched TV and got the laundry out of the machines. I also read my mail.

I have another pen pal. She is from Indiana her name is Natasha. I think I may have chatted with her and written her before. She is on Liz C’s list with me. She is 36 years old and has one son and is married.

Well it is time for me to get ready I will see ya tomorrow…be well.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
