Didn't stay Long Friday Night

I got to the union office a little after four and parked out front and Ian suggested I come back an hour later so I walked down College to Shake Shack.   I wasn’t sure it was open but as I got closer it was.   I ordered a cheeseburger and an Oreo cookie shake.   I was getting nervous as it seemed to take long (I ordered it at 4:30 and of course it’s going to take long).   It arrived sometime later and I scoffed it down and headed back to the union hall where many others were gathering.     We got our t shirts and paraphernalia and took some pictures.   I chatted with a few people.   Ian had us go over to Bienke plaza and put literature on the chairs for a presentation today.   I believe it’s the Presidents welcome.     It didn’t take long so we were going to handout the flyers on the streets.   He did say we would end early.   They were handing out sandwiches.   I had one and while I ate it decided to ...

Last Day of Work

Today is the last day of work for me until September 13.  I am so looking forward to not working but having things to do.  I have been looking on VisitCT.com for things to do but most are on the weekend and or at night.  My fear and probably what  will happen is I will be spending most of the day watching TV or sleeping.  IF possible (and not only that I need to make it possible) I will be taking walks.   This is what I have so far:   Lockwood Matthew Mansion Museum Until August 29. Ghost walks in milford There are some in september as well Concerts at Webb Dean - Norwalk sunset cruises -until the 28th New Britain ' until August 31 Marine life encounters Norwalk starts in the afternoon Corn maze in Orange CT -Need to reserve tickets online. I don’t think I can do much this weekend but I am going to do the regular house cleaning tomorrow and then keep looking through it and Groupon.  Steph, from the finding friends group, suggested...

STudents move in this week

This week is the week the students are returning to the University campus to begin the semester.   I suspect that many came earlier only because I saw some U-Haul trucks on side rides that I have taken to avoid certain areas of the city.   To be honest it hasn’t seemed that bad. The Union is taking the opportunity to doing some actions this week just letting the parents and students is aware of the current situation.   Monday was the first day of the leaflet dropping.     It rained that day and I was glad I didn’t choose that day to work it.   However there were many others who did in various spots.   I honked my support and waved at them and I am sure they all looked at me and wondered who the nut was.   It apparently did the trick with negotiations this week according to the news I received from the committee meeting on Tuesday.   Anyway, I chose to do the leaflet handout on Friday night.   I understand the weather is g...

Henri turned into category 1

Image
TS Henri was raised to a category 1 Hurricane late Saturday afternoon.      I am sorry I thought it was hurricane from the minute it formed.   It rained here just before 6 but when I was talking to Liz earlier it was starting to rain there. I took some stuff in and have yet to put it back where it belongs.   I will probably do that tonight when I get home. I did go out and get a few more things before nightfall including ice.   I could probably use it to chill my milk or water. But I don’t know what else to sue it for. Sunday morning it was raining semi hard and continued like that for the rest of the day.   AT times I noticed the wind picking up but not nearly enough as predicted or forecasted.    I was going to do the cleaning that I didn’t do Saturday.   I ended up doing nothing but watch TV and watch the non-storm outside.   It was pretty much over by 6 and that’s when Liz and I decided to take a ride around the bea...

The Storm hasn't started yet

Technically the storm hasn’t started yet but we got alerts that would break your ear drums yesterday about the storm surge, wind and flooding on the phone.   At one point it looked like it was going to open up and pour buckets at work.   It didn’t though.    The sun was out for the rest of the day.   I stopped at Walmart and got some groceries.   I got bread, Milk, tea, Vinegar.   I couldn’t find the Baking soda I needed (they had the small ones).   I will go to Shoprite later and get the rest of the stuff I wanted or needed.   I also go some goodies.   You can’t be in the middle of a big summer storm without goodies. I did get the chairs back in last night and had trouble with the umbrella but on the third try it worked.   I have to take the recycle out to the trash hut soon.   I put it out behind the flower pot because I wasn’t ready to go out in public. I spent the evening relaxing and went to bed at ten.  ...

Really?

The most popular season has begun, five weeks early. Starting today Dunkin Donuts has begun serving all things pumpkin spice flavor.  I am not really complaining because I love the coffee and of course everything that is infused with pumpkin spice.  However it's like everything else that is pushed early. Do we really need to have this so early? Last week about ten days ago our Vchairman/city clerk Fortunato sent out a recall for volunteers for the DTC tent for the Oysterfestival this weekend.  After many snags and changes our group decided to pull out of the Oyster fest.  I was disappointed. It was also done just as the Festival Committee made some changes to the festival.   Now everyone on a couple of the Milford FB people are bitching, complaining and calling to boycott it.    They don’t understand why they can’t bring their pets, coolers, or food.  Two of those have been part of the requirements if you will FOR YEARS.   Yet people ...

Another Quiet Saturday

So it’s Saturday again and the daily routine has been done.  I did go back to sleep for a little while and got up to start laundry and do some chores quietly.  I cleaned the bathroom last night so that will be one less thing to do today.  I may have to vacuum it again. The cats are fine.  Both are sleeping in two different spots.  Tiger spent some time unbeknownst to me in the pantry closet in the kitchen.  I guess I didn’t look inside before closing the door.  I deep cleaned the litterbox last night while cleaning the bathroom so my hope is there will not be packages outside the box.  I ordered food for them I will pick it up later on today.  Just got word that only the dry food has been pulled.  The wet food isn’t in.  I had changed to Fancy feast because they didn’t seem to have the one I wanted in wholehearted flavor.  I guess they will have to eat the kibble until it arrives. As usual I started writing a coupl...

This time last year

It was this time last year when Lawyer Bob 1 reignited his campaign to get me out of the family home.   He was horrible and continues to be horrible.   By the end of that month my sister and a few friends purged the house of things.   My niece began the process of placing the house on the market with some input from LB1.   As you know by September the house was sold and by December I had found a place and moved in.   Actually you can probably follow it in the archives.   I love my place. LB1 is still being an ass.   I haven’t heard from LB2 since I sent him an email last week requesting an update.   Liz feels we should move on to taking LB1 to court.   I don’t want to because I don’t have that kind of money.   I also don’t want to call LB2 because I want a paper trail of what transpired.   I don’t believe this man is doing a very good job.   He promised to keep me in the loop and really hasn’t done that to my satisfac...

Another Heatwave coming

Good Morning!  We are heading into another heatwave this week.  Last night I got a weather site alert saying severe weather was coming (I thought for last night but noooooooo).  It was 69 when I left the house and in the mid seventies by the time I got to work.  I am sorely tempted to put the fan on.  I was uncomfortable before but I am better now.  It was cloudy for most of the day.  The sun came out for a short time before lunch. This morning was active.  I was up before 5:30 because the titans were needing to be fed, watered, and medicated for those who needed to be.  I could smell something emanating from the bathroom and was afraid someone missed the target but they didn’t.  Yay.  So that task got done even before my coffee. I managed to do a few things like dishes, bed making, and watched a few of my morning programs.  I showered and dressed by 7 and I was out the door by 7:20.   Making a stop at DD’s on the h...

Nice Day to sleep in

It’s amazing how quickly time passes.   I got up before 5:30 thanks to the wonder twins and did our early morning routine and its now after 7.   I also emptied the dishwasher and then washed the dishes I used to feed them.     I did have some coffee and watched the end of the Star Wars Phantom menace.   It’s on its second rotation for the weekend. I am thinking I will have to start washing dishes by hand.   The Dishwasher is starting to look old and parts of the top rack are breaking off.   I don’t know the dimensions of this one and I am sure the prices are too much right now.   Besides when I do the dishwasher I try to fill it up but it’s not always feasible.   So today will probably have a few things to do.   Fold some clothes; fix the blankets on the sofa and recliner.   I hate those things but its to keep the cats from destroying them (it’s too late for the small recliner).   I am supposed to see Liz today ...

I sat outside this morning

I sat out on the patio this morning and had my coffee.   It’s not that quiet.   I can hear the cars and trucks near buy.   I hear but don’t see the birds and the bugs.   Sunrise was at 5:55 am this morning.   Its light out but I don’t necessarily see sunshine.   The weather report said it would be cloudy and 82 today. It got to 86 by the end of the day. I have learned that just because it’s cloudy, it doesn’t necessarily mean rain clouds.   I didn’t sit outside long.   The bugs were bugging me and Sky was being very vocal. I took a brush and cleaned one of the patio chairs because it has been the target of birds and I have cleaned it with rags before and it never worked.   I used the disinfectant Windex and it looks like I will have to keep working on it. So last night, I made the pork loin and the pasta salad.   I cooked it for about 40 minutes and it seemed okay except I couldn’t cut it very well.   I have a feeling it’...

The Seasons they are changing

The temperatures were in the 60’s when I left the house this morning and by the time I got to the office it was in the 70’s.   More evidence that summer is almost over.   I held the belief I didn’t mind the seasons changing but what kid likes to come in from playing when it gets dark?   I wonder if parents back in the day did these kinds of things ?   Truthfully I am sure we did stuff.     As I get older I don’t always like how cold it gets.   I also don’t like the oppressive heat either.   I am looking forward to the Oyster Fest in Milford in a couple of weeks.   It's fun, lots of food, and people watching.   I don’t buy anything (other than the food if at all) because I either don’t need, want, or can afford it.   I haven’t been to too many activities in town though for the reasons listed below.     It would be great if I got back into walking and hiking again but it doesn’t seem to be the case. ...

The Rain Held off

I left here just around 6:30 Tuesday night to go and get Tiger’s prescription but just as I was leaving I had run into Neighbor Bonnie (unit 5) and we got to chatting up a storm.   I shared the story of how got to the condo.   I learned she is widowed and has been here for 11 years and knew the Family who owned this condo. The rest of the night was quiet and I went to bed fairly early It must have rained at some point during the night because when I got up the ground was wet and there were some puddles.   However, that’s all it did all day.   It was in the 70’s and cloudy all day until dinner time. Work went well.    I did some daily scanning (the eobs) and the CD upload sent the ones that had issues the day before to the library and another one today.   I was thrilled that there were two that worked.   Kim was very helpful.   Did the refund backlog and have another one to start today. I was pleased to hear from DK.   We h...

My plans changed for tonight

As of late yesterday afternoon I was planning on attending the meetup at Hammonasset State Park and meet the newest two attendees.  Then around 10 I received an email from President Pat of the Ladies Guild reminding us there is a board meeting tonight at the church.  I had been waiting for a reminder and I had been checking the calendar on the church site but it wasn’t there.   I should have known it wouldn’t be cancelled.  We discussed it earlier in the season about meeting during the summer this year.  In the past we didn’t meet in the summer but I think with Covid we can catch up and prepare for the upcoming year. I am seriously considering bailing on that meeting  myself. I was supposed to update the membership list and totally forgot about it. .  I put it out of my mind and went on to other things.    This is probably the reason I don’t want to be on the membership committee  anymore because I haven’t done anything with ...

August 3, 2021

Well I managed to get a few things done before leaving for work.   Fed, watered, and medicated the cat, cleaned out the litterbox but will have to do a deep cleaning soon.   I made my breakfast and my lunch.   I made a cheese sandwich.   I got my laptop ready to use for the union meeting this afternoon. I emptied the garbage and disposed it as I was leaving the complex. Not a lot of regular scanning to do yet but I am sure that will change soon.    I did work on backlog refund scanning for most of the day. So did AC.   I got some advising and worked with the manager from the care center regarding some of the patient CD’s that didn’t upload.   We decided that when one needs to be sent to the film library she will provide the MR number and Doctor.     Anyway, I stopped at the Fed ex so the ones we are sending to the film library could be delivered. The union committee meeting was short but what I did get out of it was the some...
