Thankful Thursday

1.     I am thankful for family warts and all.  I have been invited to my sister’s for Thanksgiving next month and a post-Thanksgiving dinner with Jim the weekend after the holiday.  I don’t know about you but I remember a number of years that Mom and I had been invited to a few places for the holidays like that.

2.    I am thankful for the kitties.    They have recovered from the latest indignity of being put in crates and had their freedom curtailed for a few hours.  I am hoping now they won’t be going into them again until we move.

3.    I am thankful for my job.   Busy.  Every day the additional steps in Scanning have been coming into the routine.  I haven’t done them myself but AC showed them to me before I left Tuesday.

The union is scheduling EPM’s with staff members and the management at least in YM.  DK will be handling the scheduling.

4.   I am thankful for the medical profession that keeps me on the road to good/better health.  I see Dr. Sonia next week.  I got a refund from the Eye Dr.  That is a nice windfall.

5.                   I am thankful for my home.  I have been keeping it up since the house has been on the market.  We had the appraiser earlier this week.  We should get the decision in the next couple of days.

6.                   I am thankful for my friends.  I didn’t make it to Madison this week but I will next week.   I talked with Mama a few days ago.  She and Papa are doing well.  It’s almost time for me to call her with the house update.

I am going to send another email to Dr. T.  to see how she is doing.

7.        I am thankful for my neighbors.   Everyone is fine

8.         I am thankful for the organizations I belong to.  Ladies guild has something coming up next month.  I keep looking for notifications and updates in the bulletin but nothing yet.

9.                   I am thankful for the weather.  It’s been chilly in the morning and as warm as the 60s this week.  There has been very little to no rain.  As I mentioned yesterday we may get some rain next week.

10.                  I am thankful for those who choose to protect and serve our country.  Enough said.

11.   I am thankful for those who are in the healthcare caring for those who have been affected by this Virus.

Monday Musings

Sunday was a fairly busy day despite the thunderstorm in the afternoon.  The Exercise class went well and we had fun there were six of us and I believe I did better than I did on Saturday.  I would later sign up for classes for today unfortunately I didn’t attend them.  Alex’s was full by the time I signed up but later found out two openings opened and I saw them too late.  I will have to check the schedule for tomorrow.

After the class I headed to Shop Rite and went grocery shopping.  It took me an hour but I ended up spending more than I was planning on it.  I also added last minute items such as Salmon filets.  I hadn’t seen them for the last few weeks that I have been.  I also got peanut butter to snack on.  I got more creamer and sweetener because both were low.  I did manage to get paper towels and s’more baby wipes but I couldn’t get the Lysol wipes.  I managed to get more frozen vegetables and salad fixings that I seem to be still having problems making at home.

When I put everything away I made lunch of steak and Brussel sprouts.  I scoffed those up quickly.  I then took off for a pre-thunderstorm walk.  It was warm, and the sun continued to shine.  I chatted with a few people including a dear classmate of mine.  We talked at her condo for probably an hour.  We talked about ancient history, Current events, difference in opinions, and before I left she apologized for anything she did to me in grammar school.  We hugged and promised to get together again soon.  She is a waitress over at Pops Restaurant.  I had to leave because it was starting to thunder at it was 3.

I headed for home making two more stops.  One at Captain’s Catch for water and some resting stops and chatting with an Asian woman who was tending to her lawn.  I was home by 4 an hour or 2 later the thunderstorm came and went.

The rest of the night is almost a blur.  I know I listened to a little bit of the Sunday night radio programs and showered.  I do remember having a brief conversation with Alex.  He urged me to go for another walk so that I could get to the 10K mark.    I made a very weak attempt but I somehow managed to get the 10K.

I had a surprise phone call from Big Brother last night.  He invited me to come down sometime during the summer.  Not a long visit but a weekend one.  I absolutely jumped at the invitation.  Just with the caveat that I need to check my schedule when I start work.  OF course Livia reminded me today that when I get back I will have to do the 2 week self-isolation from travelling. Once we finished that discussion I told him my feeling about Diane’s mask tirade and he shut me down fast.  Even though I gave great advice overall its none of my business.  It sounds like he supports and understands who she will direct it at.  I told him about the Northeastern article that I had found.

Today was another blur.  We did our normal routine.  I did watch some TV and then napped for a while before getting a move on.

I was supposed to go to class but I had already cancelled I was feeling achy and stiff.  It has lasted for most of the day..  I didn’t even go for a walk.  I took meds and supplements that should help.  The ankle seems to be better right now but the hands not yet.

Livia came around 9:30 and we chatted and then I came upstairs to finish yesterday entry and do some surfing.  I also fell asleep.  I came back downstairs when she was working on the upstairs.  She has done a great job.  The sunroom/backroom is looking better and better.  After struggling with the flattened boxes (don’t get me started on the stupid twine) I got them in the car to take to the transfer station sometime this week.  There is a little more to clear out but that will come in time.

AT lunch time I made a meatloaf and a beef patty for lunch.  I combined both ground pork, and ground beef.  I put seasonings (didn’t measure it) cut up an onion and a couple of eggs. I added some grated Mexican mix cheese. I cooked it at 350 for 45 minutes.  Put a little ketchup on it.  I had the patty for lunch with cheese.  As usual there was some rawness to it.  I have a habit of eating a little of it raw.  I am waiting for all that to bite me in the ass next time.  I had the meat loaf for dinner with peas and cheese.

I received some interesting family news in the last couple of days.  My cousin’s son Mike has been reassigned to a Naval Base in Florida (that’s where they were a long time ago.  Well, same state different naval base) my cousin Carol will be ecstatic because she really misses them.  I guess he will be in Florida by the end of the week with his family.

Nephew John posted on FB today that he will be reassigned to Fort Bragg NC in August.  When I told my sister this she hoped he would be happy there.  I do too.  I wonder if his lady will follow since she just recently moved up to AK with her kids.

I didn’t stay in the Trivia Meet up long.  The audio wasn’t good again.  I wasn’t very interested in dropping out and coming back in.  JOC popped in to say hi but had to leave by 7.  WE made tentative plans to walk soon.

I was quite surprised when Sky didn’t come down midafternoon to begin the “feed me ritual” he was under my bed for most of it.  He was there last night too.  He was in the closet at one point and then the next under my bed for the rest of the night.  Tiger was well I am not sure where she was but probably in all of her summertime spots.  She has been under a table in the dining room for the last two or three hours.  I was wondering if they were getting agitated by the thunderstorms.  For the first time in a While Sky sat on the couch since 6.  If I stayed on the trivia they would have been able to see him.  I am hoping he will come up and sleep on the bed with me instead of the closet or under the bed.

All the bills I had scheduled for the last few day have been delivered and will be posted to the accounts soon.  I am relieved for that but now I can’t wait to get paid next week.

I am going to have to find some time and dedicate it to getting the taxes done.  Well that’s going to be tomorrow’s worry.

I have exercise class tomorrow at 9:30.  Then later on I have my session with Alex and I am hoping to go for a walk at some point. It is contingent on the weather tomorrow and of course JOC.

I will say good night…………

Hot Midweek Reflections

It is another day of hot temperatures.  It is currently 83.  It will get no hotter than 86.  It got in to the 90’s Monday and mid 80’s yesterday.  It only rained for a brief time early this morning.  It looked like it was going to rain more but it didn’t and the sun came out.  I am glad because if it didn’t the meetup this afternoon would be cancelled or postponed.

I called JOC this morning to offer we drive up together to the meetup.  We agreed and I will be picking her up at 5 and from there go to Branford.  Her foot was a little better but wasn’t really anxious to push it.  She was a little concerned about the drive up there but then she thought she was being overly paranoid about the whole situation.

This time last week I was working on budgets and that’s an ongoing thing.  I was also on a search for a misplaced CC and had to order a new one.  Well the new one came and any guesses what I found yesterday as I got to the store yesterday?  You got it, the old one in one of the reusable bags in the car. I really should have looked harder.  The old one is currently in to be shredded pile.

This time last week the gyms opened up and I have been there almost every day.  I didn’t go Sunday but I went walking with JOC that day.  Classes didn’t start up until Saturday.  I went to class Monday, and tried to go in the last couple of days but they were going to interfere in the walks that I ended up not taking.

We had our last FF4W Thursday trivia Night last week.  Happily they moved it to Monday night at 6:30 for now.  I think GC is hoping to find local restaurants that are reopening and beginning Trivia Game nights again.  I was talking to Authoress51 about it.  I sent her a link today for a trivia game meetup in her city.  Just in case the trivia stops being online or something.

Of course the greatest news is that there will a new baby in the family come December!  My Nephew Chris and His wife Jen are expecting a baby Boy.  They had a zoom gender reveal party on Sunday.  Of course everyone is ecstatic.

Well I need to start getting ready for the Meetup so I will say good night.  Blessed Be.

Just sitting here

Just sitting here thinking about the moments that stood out this past week.   I mean that’s what midweek reflecting is about right?

I was thinking about the worries of work and the future.  Right now though I am not as worried or am not letting it worry me.  Still have to call IT and see why I can’t access The Kronos time piece or areas I am supposed to.  I was late for the committee meeting like I said.

This time last week I was preparing for the last Ladies Guild Board meeting of the year.   I didn’t have much to do except put a chair in the car and get my laptop ready.  The meeting was short and somewhat difficult to hear at times.

I participated in the virtual trivia meetup last Thursday.  Still had some interference but my hope is that now that I downloaded Chrome it should be much better.  On Saturday I went to the in person Meetup in Killingworth and Niantic and it was great.  Did a lot of walking but don’t have it captured for posterity.  WE have one tonight at Rose Orchard in North Branford?  I have been by the place a half dozen times and we have talked about going there and this will be the second time there has been a group going.  I believe we have a card game on Saturday as well.

Today begins Phase 2 of the state opening up.  I was able to find an article that explains simply what it all means at least it was simple for me.  The one I am really looking forward to is the gym.  They open today and I am planning on being there.  They are starting to schedule classes and I tried to register for them but there was no add button I am going to ask AW if I can go to his 8:30 class on Saturday.  AS of this writing haven’t gotten out to it yet.

I updated the Pen pal blog with some interesting news.

It took forever to get to sleep

Oy, I didn’t sleep well again.  It wasn’t until after 3 and when I finally did I had some really weird dream with L& Order Characters.  I wasn’t ready to get up at the normal time but luckily Sky was there pawing me in the face.  I did go back to bed as soon as I fed them.

I fell asleep for another couple of hours and it felt better but I ended up having another weird dream.  This one I am not remembering it as well as this first one.  I will have to tell my friend she isn’t the only one who has had weird dreams lately.

When I did get up I of course put the TV on and got some coffee and returned basically to the normal routine.  Checked my mail delivery nothing yet and it looks like I am not getting anything interesting.  Checked Amazon because I know there are a couple of things I am supposed to be getting today.  The Alcohol wipes are still late and I am supposed to get toilet paper.  I am not sure if I should ask for a refund for the wipes.

I need to make some calls to the coffee for less company because I never did get the coffee order from May.  So I had to go through resetting my password with my Gmail account.  Set up the whole thing again.  I did call them and tell em that under my old email address I never got it.  I had to leave a message.  A short time after all the resetting I got a call and they will be reshipping it.  So I should be set for a while (who am I kidding it will be gone in 6 weeks)

Cleaning angel came around 11.   She sent a text to me around quarter of ten to let me know she was coming.  I spent the time writing her check and getting changed.  When she came we chatted and then I finally placed the order for more canister bags and they will be here by the end of the week.

The Dentist office called to reschedule my appointment for this week.  It’s actually with the Hygienist so we had to move it to next Wednesday at 12.  She gave me instructions on what to do that day but will remind me next Tuesday.

Around noon time I headed to the pet food place and picked up some more canned food and something to prevent hairballs.  I managed to get some into sky but having a hard time with princess (shocking isn’t it?).

I also stopped at Lowes and got some twine and will tie up the boxes and put them out for the bulk pick up.

Livi was still here when I got home but she was almost finished so I tried to take a nap and stay out of her way and it was nearly 1 when she left and I made my lunch and watched TV.  I need to take a nap.

Thankful Thursday

1.            I am thankful for family warts and all.  They are all are doing well.   Niece Diane’s movie ‘Marry Harry” premieres on the net last week.  I didn’t attend the party.  I have a feeling that I am going to lose my good standing with her if I don’t support her in her work (I don’t mean financially).  I received a note from Niece Emily with pictures this week.

2.            I am thankful for my Kitties.  They are doing pretty good.  I had to clean up a few hairballs this week.

3.            I am thankful for my job.  It looks like we will be going back in mid-July and my hope is to go ack to my regular job and not be reassigned.  There is still a lot of uncertainty.

4.            I am thankful for the medical profession that keeps me on the road to good/better health.   Still on the Xaralto and things seem steady there.  I see Debra tomorrow virtual meeting.  I have my infusions next week

5.            I am thankful for my home.

6.            I am thankful for my friends.  I have had several replies from e-pals.  I will be working with those today.

I am still working on that letter to DR. T.

There were some connection issues last night so I had to leave it early.  I am not sure what it was but I hope it will be okay tonight for the trivia.

7.            I am thankful for my neighbors.  Everyone is doing well.  Some returned to work and others continued to work.

8.            I am thankful for the organizations I belong to.  We had the DTC meeting last week and I am expecting  Ladies guild next week.

9.            I am thankful for the weather.  The weather has been consist in temperature but its been mostly rainy this week with only a couple of days of sunshine.

10.          I am thankful for those who choose to protect and serve our country.  Enough said.

11.   I am thankful for those who are in the healthcare caring for those who have been affected by this Virus.

Midweek reflection

It is day 51 of the state’s quarantine for the Corvid19 Virus.  I have been spending the last week watching TV, writing for blogs, and reading blogs.  I also visited my favorite websites.

I spent every other day going to the hematologist to check my INR and had to get an issue on miscommunications cleared up and now everything is doing better.  At this point I have 6 to 12 days more of the injection.

I attended the Finding Friends Midweek Coffee time and trivia sessions and had a blast.  I won’t be able to go this week as I have a conference call for the Ladies Guild tonight.  I will get back to the meetups next week.

The ladies guild meeting will discuss the installation dinner for next week.  I am still trying to decide if I am going or not.  I was hoping we would have a zoom type meeting for tonight.   This is the first actual activity that we had since the pandemic quarantine exception is the few emails.

The DTC has had some meetings but I know I missed them.  We have gotten updates from Chairman Phil.  Sadly some of our members lost their parents this past couple of weeks.

This week Milford announced that several outdoor recreation areas will be reopening such as parks, skate parks, pickle ball courts, the Orchard Golf course, and beaches.  They will be open to residents only.

Schools across the state have now been closed for the rest of the year.   Various committees from various educational providers are making plans on what they will be doing for the future.

Restaurants will be reopening but limited to outdoor service starting May 20.   When I was talking about it with my Friend Dave we both felt that we are not anxious to be running out to the restaurants and all those outdoor activities including the movies as quickly as expected.

I see the RHeumatologist today

Today is my Telehealth appointment with Dr. Gordon-Dole.  I received instructions for setting up the app and to get in to the video.  I just hope I don’t have problems with it.  It should only be 15 minutes.   I would like to tell her I take walks when I can and I might in between my zoom meeting and the appointment.
It’s been seventeen days since we implemented the social distancing and work at home for most of my colleagues.  I have had been to the office in the last two weeks sporadically and doing the mail.  The funny thing is when I think I am caught up more Health logic comes.  We have been getting generalized updates from the CEO; we have been getting updates from HR, well one most recently regarding the current policy and protocol to remain in place until the end of April.  We have a town hall virtual meeting this afternoon at one via Zoom.  I personally haven’t used zoom myself but I know that Siduri and my sister use it for lots of things.
I have been updating pen pal hobbies for the last few days and that includes trying to get letters written.  I am working on an email to my Pen pal Becca in Florida and I keep getting distracted.  I have a few more to reply to but that need to be printed out and I will do that for Thursday.
I have also been puttering around picking up things and bagging stuff that I don’t need or want.  I haven’t made huge dents but I need to reorganize stuff.  I think I have managed to empty the garbage twice in two days.
The kitties are continuing to do their normal stuff.  Sky is ambling around here and Tiger is upstairs sleeping.  They slept with me until about 4 this morning.  I am still working on rearranging their feeding times back to 5 at night.
The neighbors are going to be putting out an luminary tonight at 7 Neighbor Kim suggested it and has offered to give me one tonight. I hope she does it early because I will be at the virtual Coffee Talk at 6.

Mid week reflection

I had to be reminded that today was “Hump Day” this morning at dunkin Donuts.  I have no idea what happened to the last two days.  I guess I was so tired yesterday that I  slept walked through the day.

Yesterday was Cheryl and Mike’s visit and it went well but she could sense by the time she left I was overwhelmed.  They did a walk through and felt the place wasn’t bad but still needed to be decluttered and that she would call in the troops.  EVen Lawyer bob suggested after they left that I go and get a couple of tubs to put stuff in.  I found out why he is pushing for the holidays.

There is still a lot to be done and I am fooling myself if I am going to be getting an equally good condo price wise.  I am not sure how much I will have left over if any  to use for anything else.  I did find out what will happen to the “trust”.  It will stay there.

The weather was nice yesterday that I could remember of it but that will change again later today.  Another storm is coming through tonight.  The papers made mention that seems every wednesday has been rain.  The temperatures are in the 80s and 90’s for the resst of the week not sure about humidity though.  Cooler at night.

This past weekend was excellent.  The Oyster festival was a huge success.  I think the DTC tent did well and we had many volunteers from the committee.  I spent a couple of hours on the setup detail that morning and got a couple of comments that I almost took like a criticism.  One was from CaliforniaFrank (cuzin) and DO.  I felt like had to justify what I was doing and when.  Yeah I know I just said the weekend was excellent it was for those two moments and one about real estate.

I did make it to my session with A and we discussed the challenges and plans for the following week.  I managed to miss going to classes Sunday and Monday but did make it to my session with A and also did the inbody (down to 211 again).

Saturday night I managed a 3 1/4 mile walk that I have been anxious to do.  It took me about 2 hours to  finish.  Sunday morning I went on the Meetup walk with JoanS and that was just under 2 miles around the center of town and along the marina.  I haven’t done any walking since then except the daily steps that have not made it to goal since Saturday (I surpassed my goal that day).

Work has been good.  Last week we had a baby shower for a coworker and this week its not as eventful.  We are current with scanning and waiting for the next wave of batches of work to arrive.

We have had a wave of new employees start this week.  They are on other teams and I have managed to meet two so far.  We were alerted via email this past week.

Haven’t had any updates on the space/move this week but I expect something in the next couple of days.

This weekend I am going to the Plainville Balloon Fest and pray that 1) I don’t get lost and 2)the weather holds out  and 3) it doesn’t take forever to get home.

The rest of the weekend is the normal weekend gym, decluttering, and volunteering.

Mid Week Reflection

Last week at this time we were anticipating a huge storm and getting over some small ones.  I ended up cancelling a lot of things including my classes at the gym.  I was certainly set straight Monday.

It has been a bittersweet weekend as many of my friends, acquaintances, neighbors have experienced some life changing moments.  One of my schoolmates who lived in the area a long time ago succumbed to an aggressive form of cancer.  She lost her father many years ago who was pediatrician in town.  Her services are tomorrow.  I don’t know if I can go but will try.

Another of my classmates lost her Mom as well.  We were in highschool together and she was in many of my classes but I don’t think I had the opportunity to meet her Mom except maybe at graduation time.

Yesterday NancyH (my friend and ‘client’) lost her 99 year old father.  Apparently he was not doing well in the last few days but was aware of his situation.  He was a force to reckon with.  He was sharp as a tack.  His nephew is the Mayor of the city.

Neighbor Sylvia texted me last night and asked if she could store stuff in my garage as she is moving on Friday.  I noticed there was a “sale pending” on the for sale sign and there had been some activity in the last few days.   I also got a call from her before  left work asking if I could park in her driveway while she parked her moving truck in my driveway and acquiesced.

I sent a message to Neighbor Don thinking he had a padlock on the Garage (he pointed out that he wouldn’t do that because its my garage).  His email sounded as though he was offended I would even think that.  WTF?  I was thinking all kinds of things like if he brings it up again I will ask him to take his shit out of my garage.

I have a feeling i won’t be seeing Kris while in NV.  Its a 12 hour ride to Denver and it wouldn’t be a day trip.  I did send him a note asking if we could meet in the middle. Waiting on his reply as of this moment. Let mama know too.

I went to the ladies guild meeting and I will be returning again.  I have to go to the meeting next week as hostess/greeter.  I will be baking for the meetings and bake sales coming up.  I even took the opportunity to ask them to help with Bingo at the nursing home.

Didn’t go to the gym tonight had every intention but just got tired.

Got cards for Nancy, Mayor Ben and his family (including his Mom) and will mail them out tomorrow.

Should be getting coffee order sometime Friday night.  My new laptop battery on same night too.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
