Finally going to Racebrook Tract

Ever since I found out there was an easy hiking trail in the area I have wanted to go to it.  It is called The Racebrook Tract.  It is in Orange and about 7 miles from here.  It is considered to be easy to moderate hike and it’s in a beautiful area.  I invited Dave and Jim (his partner) to join me at 11:30.  It is going to be cool temperatures (45 to 50 degrees) so I am going to break out a sweat shirt with my work out clothes.  I don’t normally wear socks but I think today I will.  AS I am reading the link I posted above I should not be surprised to know that there is a connection to the Yale forestry school.  I am very excited that it will cross into Woodbridge which is beautiful farm land and rural area.  In all likelihood I won’t be taking pictures I tend to forget but I am sure Dave and Jim will remind me.

So I went to Wallingford yesterday.  The ride was nice even though it rained a little.  When I got there no one else from the meetup was there.  I waited for about prerequisite 15 minutes then left and stopped at the local Petco and got the food for the cats.  The ride home was uneventful and the sun was breaking out from behind the clouds as I reached Orange.    It went back in a short time later.

When I got home I checked on the chicken dish and had some.  It was not finished.  So I cooked it for another hour or so.  It was okay.  I put it in the refrigerator and cleaned up the kitchen.

The cats were fed during all that and they were indignant that I waited so long.   They will get over it.  They will have to when Liz feeds them the weekend I am in Allentown.  She won’t do it at the crack of dawn like I do.

The rest of the night was pretty quiet.  Finished posting yesterday’s entry and mailed a copy to Debra and checked on websites and of course checked my snail mail.

Just as Sideri wrote in her reply the letter from Human resources was nothing more than informational about Insurances benefits.  I will scan it and put in the file and then shred it on Monday.  I worried for nothing.

I heard from Jim yesterday.  He asked if I could be at his house by noon for our post-thanksgiving holiday so that means I will be leaving early that day to get there.  I think I may have promised to bake something.  I need to make it easy.  I will think about it.

I have heard from Mama R.  She says Miriam is safe but could see the fire from her window.  The wedding Venue is also safe.  Thank goodness for that.  WE talked more about the election and the process that has to be done now.

My plans for the rest of the day are to clean the house and get the closet done.  I hope I can get some of this done before I get lazy again.

This week should be a normal week.

An Active Day

Good Morning! It is a sunny beautiful Sunday morning.  It is 75 and going to get hotter.  I will be leaving in about 2 hours for the solo walk in Maclean Nature Preserve in Granby.  I was just reading some of the comments from members and overall they loved it.  One had to back out because of the heat (oh and two of them did it yesterday and the other did it last week sometime.  It is supposed to be equally hot up there but one of the participants said she went at 10 yesterday and it was lovely.

When I spoke to Alex about this he said to be sure to drink lots of water and prepare for this hike.  I am trying to drink some water now and will have a protein shake or two before going but I plan on bringing Jell-O and pudding with me.  (I can’t have any real solids just yet).

I am not sure how many I am taking (it’s a two hour hike and easy) so probably not much there is a farm/brewery near there (no not going there to drink but will look around).  I won’t stay long as I need to be back in time for the family zoom catch up.

So how was your Saturday?  Mine was good.  I ended up not going to class and Alex texted me asking why. Unfortunately I didn’t see it until he asked me to come in for 10:30 so I got ready and left.  WE had a good session I told him how the week went and how much I walked.  I also told him about the tooth adventure.  After the session I stayed for a half hour cardio.

I went to NAPA auto and picked up a windshield solar shield for the car and I am really disappointed in it.  It doesn’t stay in place.  There is no way to tie to something to make it stay in place and I ended up paying a little more than I wanted to (11 cents).

Why is it that no matter what I do anything I bring in to the house or my life there is ultimately something that doesn’t work right?  Last month it was that piece of shit Fitbit, this month it’s the solar shield.  In the past it has been some wire for the TV when I first got it.

The rest of the afternoon I was relaxing and then I went grocery shopping.  I got mostly Jell-O and puddings for today.  I also got coffee creamer for work and some chicken, pork, and lamb for the day I can eat normally again.  I also got some eggs because I will be eating that until then.  Not much else after that.  I will still need more milk and sweetener.

When I came home I fed the kitties and watched T V until about 8 or 9.

Neighbors to the back of me had a birthday party in their yard for what I am guessing a family friend.  They did the social distancing and preparing for it for the last two days.  It was very nice.  Not loud or boisterous.  The only thing is one geust brought Their Yorkie. One who apparently can snap?  Really?  You would bring a dog that snaps to a party?  Anyone who has followed me on blogs knows I love dogs (well most of them) but I also know how dangerous it can be.

My god doggie and her parents came home yesterday afternoon from their vacation.  I missed them I haven’t had a chance to say good morning or welcome back but that will have to be for later.

The Pampering meetup

The pampering Meetup that was planned for today has been postponed to august 8, 2020.  I am glad for a couple of reasons.  I have a full day today and tomorrow.  Unfortunately I won’t be able to go to the one in August either because of the Wedding shower for my great niece to be is on that day.

This morning is exercise class that Alex won’t be leading again (disappointed!) but I also love Paige so that’s okay.  Then I will meet with Alex at 12:30 for our personal training session.  This will be slightly tough because of the two cookies I had in the last two days.  I don’t think “my tooth broke and I couldn’t chew” is going to really make it.

I have grocery shopping to do for the week and for the solo hike on Sunday.  For anyone wondering it’s at the MacLean Nature Preserve in Granby CT.  I haven’t been there before and it is an hour and 10 minute ride.  It is an activity from the Hiking with Friends Meetup group.  I am hoping a few of us are there and I won’t really have to do this alone.

Later on in the day is another Cousin chat with my Phelan side of the family.  My hope is that the cousins who were not able to join us last week will be there this week.  One can only hope.

I have to wonder if Sis is giving anymore thought to having one for our maternal side of the family.  The cousins there are much larger in Number.  It would be fun to see it come to fruition.  I will ask her about it the next time I sent her a text or talk to her on the phone.

Well the weather is supposed to be nice.  That’s a good thing for all the activities.

No Major Plans

It's 12:30 am Tuesday.  I am starting my second week in LV.  We just got home from an evening at the Freemont Street experience.  It was amazing.

We parked and started our night El Cortez.  We walked through part of the experience to get to Tony Roma's for dinner.  I had the Chicken Mojo. There was so much I had to bring it home. We spent the next several hours split up.  M did some gambling and R and I enjoyed the music and the walk and window shopping. The Light show was awesome and going every hour on the hour.  The Zip line users were over head and I am telling you I would be screaming the entire time!

We made a quick stop at the store for my fruit and yogurt and a card for my co worker Michele who had lost her sister after a short illness.

We made it to the Exploration Peak Park...we did the mile long loop around the park.  I was slightly disappointed because we couldn’t really find the start of the other trails that really turned out to be too much (and in not shaded).

We had dinner and a quiet night afterwards.....

Playing catch up

I am trying to catch up on my blogging this morning.  I wasn’t in the mood to do it last night after the afternoon I had.  I slept most of it after getting sick.

Yesterday was the hike at the Osbornedale State Park.   I have to say despite the one person I could have done without , I will have to get used to it.  I enjoyed the hike.  It was about two miles and we got to hear a little bit of everyone’s story.  I know there is a retired NY cop, a state worker (who is the photographer), and a divorcee, and the woman who bitched on and off about stuff is a  property manager for several homes.   But she is originally from Israel.  She will be moving out of state.  Why is it there is at least one person to bitch the entire time about something.  If you don’t want to get poison ivy the woods are not where you should be walking!!  WE tried (to no avail) to not speak of politics.  AT one point we split and two took the route to a parking lot and three of us continued on the path we came up on.  We had to come to a stop at the top because we went the wrong way.  There was a discussion about other meetups they have all been part of and how they were treated or mistreated.

We met back at a gazebo, and chatted and decided to go to lunch (it was just about noon then) before we left got a picture taken.  One had to leave to head to work.  The rest of us went to lunch.  The restaurant we wanted to go to was not open so we went to Roma Pizzeria Restaurant on Wakelee AVenue .

By the time we finished lunch (I had a salad and garlic cheese bread) we said our goodbyes and headed home.  By the time I got home I had a headache.  When I got home I immediately laid down on the couch and for the next several hours either slept, or eventually started vomiting.  The cats finally came out to greet me in my condition around 3.  Next thing I know it's 6 pm and they were hungry.

I am a little annoyed that my brother doubts I was on the hike.  My mapmywalk accidently turned off and only recorded half the time.  When I told Jim about it (I hope he was teasing) he said if it is on mapmywalk then it wasn’t done.  I hate when people doubt me like that...Sister does it and apparently so does my brother.  I told him this morning he will just have to take my word for it.

I also tried to post my total steps yesterday but I messed up (over 7000 again).  Will have to be careful not to be so quick to delete it to be posted.

I finally did some cooking today.  I have a chuck roast cooking in the oven.  Some time today I will have to get going on the rest of the stuff I need to make.    I didn’t put any additional vegetables (potatoes, onions) in the roast.  I am going to make sandwiches out of it mostly for the week I think.

I am also doing laundry.  I am going to have to refresh the stuff that’s been out on the dining room table in a huge mound all week.

This afternoon I have bingo and then relaxing I guess.  I do have some letters to finish as well as thank you notes.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
