Laid back Friday

Image
Good Morning!   It’s 9:30 and the house is starting to wake up.   Actually I have been awake since 7 and out of bed by 8.   Mom got just about then and got her coffee and I emptied the dishwasher and she woke up.   Mom will be making waffles once everyone is up. The tentative plans for the day are varied right now.   Diane and Ethel are supposed to come for dinner and a movie.   The movie choices are Lincoln and Life of PI.   Jim is having dinner with Bob’s friend Frank Cicone.   Liz and Nel might come by sometime.   Hey guys…as I thought some plans changed.   Ethel was coming home around noon from NY while Diane overslept.   Ethel asked me to go open the back door for her assistant so that’s what I did.   When I got back here Mom asked me to bring the kids over and visit.   I did but I am really annoyed with them.   They spent the entire time watching TV while Liz continued to get them to interact wi...

Sunday was Nice

I was in bed until 8 and then got online before heading into the shower. I answered some emails from Telka and surfed the net for a short time. I got a late start to the shower and to getting to the nursing home. Some of the protesters were outside when I arrived. I talked with Phil for a short time and now I can’t tell if they are winning or what. I went in and made coffee for a few of the residents and had some myself. I managed to get everything set up and ready to start playing on time for a change. WE also ended on time and I made it to church sort of on time. I managed to get here before the liturgy started. I found out the new pastor (or priest) will be arriving on Tuesday to begin his assignment at St Mary’s. After Mass I came home and did some chores. When I arrived Mom was cleaning in the bathroom. When I arrived she must not have heard me at least twice she jumped. I did some laundry and did some vacuuming downstairs. Around 4 Dave came and picked me up and we a...

Dinner and a Movie

Wow that storm that came through the state very early this morning was incredible. The lightening was pretty cool and the thunder started much later and then the rain came. It played havoc on my ankle for most of the night. It still is a little now. According to the radio several areas have power outages and downed wires. Mom went to bed before midnight after spending the day shopping and cleaning. She wants me to put the light shade up in the bathroom and put the screen door up as well. I suggested that Dave come and help because her back was going to give out. I called Dave and asked him and he said he would be there by 5. He had just flown in from a flight and was relaxing before heading back to CT. Mom had a bit of news for me. She either talked with Bob or spent time with him and they talked about the kids and the weekend. First John is going to try out of for Special forces again and if he doesn’t make it this time he will be going to Korea. Diane was in town for the l...

Another Successful Monday

It is now the end of another day and I am quite pleased by it. I left here a little after 6:30 and stopping for breakfast at Dunkin and got to work by 7. For the first hour I pulled an EOB for one of the Insurance Reps and then scanned for the rest of the time. Lou came around 8 and I started the work took care of the charts and had to call MR to let them know there were two charts I didn’t order in the box (apparently no one cleared it out from last week) After that was taken care of I started to sort through some of my papers that became a mountain on my file cabinet. I didn’t get to work much on it when Jill came with the lockbox. The volume was deceiving. When the US mail came it looked heavy as well but by three or 3:30 it was done. By then almost everything was done. I was starting on the bad addresses and worked on them until I was ready for Debra’s. Debra had called earlier in the afternoon to let me know she would be running late and if we could move the meeting to qua...

Didn't Have a Great Day Today

Because of the events of the previous night I didn’t have a great day I managed to tell everyone that walked by me about what happened and they were dismayed. I got to the point of saying that if I had been in their homes and they had dictated to me what kind of hobbies I could have I would sue their asses. They either got defensive, disgusted or patronizing. In other words they understood where Mom is coming from and that I need to cut the crap. I called Mom early in the day and she was baking a cake and I asked if she slept okay. She explained the letter kept her up all night. I told her it was taken care of. She said we would talk more about it later. I told her I wasn’t giving up pen paling. Most of the groups I posted update to were sympathetic and offered suggestions of getting a PO Box. I even shared that with Mom and we almost got into it again. She refuses to get the point I can do it and she has no say in the matter. Tonight I went out with Dave for a quick bite to eat and to...

Sunday December 2, 2007

It is almost 5 pm on this cold Sunday night. I am really in a high state of aggravation. Mom is being rather difficult today and I am really getting tired of it. She has been condescending towards me and really rude. I don’t think I deserve it and I wish she would stop. I think the term is argumentative. She is making dinner right now and it should be finished very soon. After that she will be probably watching TV. Our normal PBS fare has been changed this for their annual pledge drive. In about an hour and half I am going to the Board meeting and I have done the minutes from last month’s meeting. I hope they will be okay. Well my prayers were answered. Around 6:30 Telka called and told me the meeting was cancelled. It was getting too icy. I really didn’t want to go out tonight. Telka did ask me to work next week with her at the gift-wrapping. I told her I could be there at 2. I looked out a window and it didn’t seem to look very bad except for damp. I guess that could be considered bl...

Hollywood Comes to New Haven

Hollywood invaded New Haven again. Casting calls for the new Indiana Jones film set to film in the elm city were held at the Omni Hotel where wannabe stars lined up for stardom. These will be “the crowds” in various forms. There was an article in this morning’s newspapers about it. Annette C mentioned it when she arrived and I asked if she was going to try out for but she said no. On the way back from the bank today I saw a number of people dressed for the auditions. I asked them if they were part of the Festival (dumb I know) but they weren’t. They were going to the auditions/casting call. As I got closer to the hotel I noticed several news vans and reporters outside and across the street from the hotel. All preparing for their reports to be aired at the news casts tonight. I caught some of it before dinner was served. This isn’t the first time that Hollywood has visited. Last year Uma Thurman filmed a movie on the campus and about two years ago so did Julia Roberts. Throug...

Another Day of Training

Today was another day of training for Gloria and Daphne. The first things I had them do were the charts and then they switched off for the lockbox. They did the same thing for the post office mail. Daphne was getting a little frustrated and I thought I would lose my temper with her but I didn’t. I made sure I was patient with them. We broke for lunch by 1 but because the time was getting late I did the charts. Then I showed Gloria and Daphne the bad addresses. I had asked Shirley earlier in the day if we could have the girls not do the bad addresses and leave them for me. She didn’t want Gloria to be upset by the volume of it. That’s how I explained it to Gloria she didn’t really buy it but anyway they will only do the normal bad addresses and not the extra stuff (like the postage tallying). Daphne left at 2:30 and showed Gloria what I do with the postage tallying and the “no address vs. new address” AKA special project. Shirley says that the girls will not have to do it w...
