Happy New Year

Despite the rain I had a great time.   I got dressed around 6 and headed to my sister’s.  When I arrived I had the pleasure of seeing my family in South Carolina.  After we finished with them we put make up on (to cover my sore nose) and to look the part of flapper.  I got the approval of my BIL.    WE took some pictures and then around 8:15 I headed to Middletown.   

The drive to Middletown was okay but there were some spots the lights that were along the highway were not on and that made it a little unnerving because I was afraid some bambi or pet would run out in the middle of the highway.   Eventually I made it to the place parked and found the restaurant after reading instructions from GC. 

The speak easy really was wonderful and it was exactly the way I read about speakeasy’s.  My group was towards (around the corner from the bar area and there were about 10 of us I guess.  Three husbands came.  I got to see Mari, and meet the Vicki who was made to be Cinderella to several ladies who became her fairy Godmother for her wedding.  When I got home I sent her a message that I was glad to finally meet her and her really cute husband.

I held to my promise not to eat anything there but had water and a ginger ale or two.  I had a fairly good sized dinner several hours earlier.  I was proud of myself even if I was slightly hungry and the few things that did passed by me looked great. 

I enjoyed my conversations with AL, and Erica, of course Nery, and Vicky’s husband.  The music was slightly loud by enjoyable. 

When it got to be midnight we had a few count downs.  We cheered and toasted and a short time after that I left.  I felt I was pretty obnoxious with my cold and needed to get home.

The drive home wasn’t bad (although missed one exit and had a re do).  Managed to get home by 1:30 and went to bed immediately after that. 

I got up this morning around 6 and fed the cats and relaxed a short while.  We did our daily routine and relaxed and finished some writing and watched tV. 

I did go to the gym and do some cardio.  I managed to be there an hour but did more socializing then anything else.  

I came home got changed and then took off the bakery and picked up the breads and heading to Dave’s.

I Had a little mishap because I took a wrong turn and ran over a curb and shredded the tire.  When I got to Dave’s asked him if he could do it and then couldn’t but had to spend time with insurance company getting roadside assistance.  I am not sure how long it took but I was frustrated and started not feeling well.

Overall if I wasn’t stressed the party was nice but Dave brought up some issues that I think could have been left unsaid (the issue with rose).  He said someone asked and he had to tell her. 

I stayed until 4 because the cold was starting to annoy me and I was getting tired. I also knew I had been obnoxious.  Also Dave got me a gift but I didn’t get him one. 

When I left I didn’t get on the highway.  I called the tire company but of course they were not there.  I left a message and continued home.  Every time I think about how this happened the harder it is to explain. 

It was almost 4:30 when I got home and sundown was just starting.  I fed the cats who probably spent most of the day sleeping.  Sky was under the bed when I left and Tiger in the closet.  But when I got home both were waiting by the front door.

I fed them and did the regular Wednesday routine garbage night.  I fell asleep for a bit and then I woke up and watched TV.

We had internet service interruption again.  We were able to watch TV but there was some message on the box saying router failure or CM Registering.  I tried to get online and couldn’t.  Luckily it wasn’t as long as the one earlier this week but it really was pissing me off.  I am sending them an email tomorrow. 

I talked with Neighbor Kim via text about the internet and then on the phone.  After that conversation found out one of her patients is in my meetup.  It far too funny.



I am going to call it a night.  I have already written my Thankful Thursday for tomorrow but I am getting tired and want to get some rest.

New Year's Eve

Greetings and Happy New Year!  In about 4 hours I will be at my sisters getting last minute fixings for my night at Conspiracy Bar in Middletown for the Meetup New Year’s Party.  I am really looking forward despite not feeling completely better.

I spent a lot of time hanging out yesterday.  We had a storm late in the day and it caused the Internet to go out so I slept for most of the day.   Oh it came back on around 7:30 but I had to reset the TV because I pressed too many buttons.  IT was all better now.

I have been taking the Zicam and I was feeling better for a while but it seems the sniffles are coming back.  Oh I will be taking more Zicam shortly.  I hope it will be enough for the night.

I did go to the bank and get some money out to have for parking and whatever else.  

I would like to take this moment and thank you all who have visited my blog and shared my world.  I look forward to your visits in the coming year.

O Came home earlier than I expected

Dear Debra:

    Well the afternoon was good.  Olivia texted me just before noon to let me know she was on her way home.  I told her where I was and what had transpired earlier this morning.  She was mortified but I took full responsibility for it.  I told her I would be back there later to pick up my charger.  I left the chicken for them.  I saw them after Dave’s Party when I went to pick up my charger.  I stayed for nearly an hour.  We discussed the last day.  I was able to talk with Preston and give him a snack but he snapped at me and it was the way I approached him.  

    After my visit with them I went to ShopRite and I picked up a few things for the Rib recipe and a few other things I needed.    The recipe said it would take 15 minutes to prep and 8 hours to cook.  I started it just about 6 and  it seemed to take longer (noticed a few things about the ingredients that I need to re evaluate later).  Anyway there is about 6 more hours plus draining the liquids and then adding bbq sauce and cook for another hour (read: I will have to be up at 3 and cook it until I have to get up again at 5:30.

    I heard from brother Jim this morning.  He is having a quiet slow day.  He told me in an earlier text that he would be packing for his trip in 4 days.  

    The party was great.  I had a lot of different things ( I want to say I ate in moderation but I have my doubts) Dave  posted picture on my timeline if you are interested in seeing them.   Had great conversations including the one where mr preston bit me this morning.  I was not the first one there this time (his cousins were) and that’s okay.  I stayed until 3:30 or so.  I was anxious to get back home but also check on Preston.

When I got home to the house I fed the cats, made the coffee and of course started the ribs and a few odds and ends.  Laundry was going, refilled and made a mess of the kibble.  Started the dishwasher after prepping the ribs. 

The best part of the day?  Was cuddling with Sky at least twice tonight.  He is curled up beside me and fell asleep.  Tiger who is probably waiting for us to come upstairs and go to bed was cuddly in her own way too.  

I think I will try and get some sleep (not sure it will work considering I have had coffee tonight) but I am going to try.

All night I was wondering why it was so comfortable I thought perhaps the temperatures outside was making it comfortable inside.  It wasn’t I had the heat up to 70 from the other day!!!   UGH.

Well I am going to go before I start to babble uncontrollably.

The Holiday Party

I left the office by 4:30 and managed to get to banquet facility by 5 despite the weather and commuter traffic.  The building itself was huge. THe parking lot (even though it was warned about) not so much. I parked on a huge hill across the street and walked down with a coworker’s family member (who worked with in the YM).  I was so good all night. UNtil the desserts. :( . Did some dancing and chatting and when the time came I left.

The Drive home wasn’t too bad even though I got turned around.  I ended up taking some side roads that were really hilly and turned back to the way i needed.  OF course if I kept going the way I was originally I could have driven by Cheryl and Mike’s house.  AS i was looking at a map the way I ended up going is close to where I am getting the mammogram.

I did get home by 9 and the cats were waiting by their bowls.  I got them fed and then got dressed for bed. I checked the mail (couple more CHristmas cards).  I tried to get online but I read the mail first and then ended up going to bed. The kitties joined me eventually.

Today I didn’t want to get up.  I did though because the cats needed to be fed and watered and I had to get ready for work.  I also had to look for my Day Planner that I can’t find. I looked everywhere for it and I know I had it when  got to work yesterday.

The other reason is I am having coffee with Liz at the restaurant this afternoon.  I don’t want to call it a meeting but I am not really looking forward to this thing at all.  I am trying to not go to that place where I am getting angry even before I get there. I have only talked to a couple of  people about it today and they have each given me advice.

After the “coffee talk” I am going to the library and pick up the books on reserve and then come home and hopeful work on the cards that are really getting late to mail out.  On one hand a part of me knows I need to get it out and the other knows there are others struggling with the same thing.

Tomorrow I need to order groceries and then go to my session with Alex.  The rest of the day I have nothing. Maybe Holiday stuff.

I don't need this today

OF all days to have an upset stomach!  I didn’t come to work prepared for this and I don’t have time to go home and get cleaned up and go to the Office party.  I am going to have to do it here of course. But I hadn’t eaten since last night! Maybe coffee. I was seriously considering running to the store and buying things.  By lunchtime things were back to order.

Snow was in the forecast today and by mid morning it had arrived.  I was worried and fretting that the only things I had were sneakers and the shoes with the outfit.  OH and I discovered that I may have left the sweater Jacket back at the Allentown Hotel when I was there for Thanksgiving. I called them at break time and asked if it was turned in and they said they would look around and see.

I have been thinking about meeting with Liz tomorrow.  I have also had to keep pushing it out of my head too. So that i don’t keep getting upset before I get there.

A whole bunch of interoffice mail came back from mail room  Not sure when DG did them but there were some wacky addresses and we went over a few of them.  She had to do them all over again. I told her what directories to go to first. She keeps saying she did.  So now she has to show them to me before she puts them in the outgoing campus bin. I expect I will have to double check the health logic for today.

I have more scanning to do before taking off for the party...

The Weekend Flew by again

I am sitting in my living room watching the 60 minute piece on fake news and how it is perpetrated and how much it is believed and used.  One of the guys who is a radio guy is an idiot.  It is just a piece to remind us all to be care full of the things we read on the various sites.  This is an issue in a few of the message boards for NCIs I frequent.  We are constantly reminded to not post from certain sites (and yet some still did it until recently) and to check with reliable sources such as the network itself or the reps of the stars or even ET or such sites.  Anyway I am waiting for NCIS: LA. To start.

I am also realizing the weekend is virtually over.  I woke up at a fairly decent hour fed the cats, and watched TV and waited for the grocery delivery to come.  The weather was fluctuating between gray skies, rain and an occasional visit from the sun. 

I spent part of the morning watching one of my favorite movies.  It was Free Willy.  The first time I went to see it was when it first came out in theaters and I just was starting to become a parent to Alex the Springer Spaniel.  It was a tough time because I was not very confident in my abilities as a pet owner.  I was trying to do what everyone else wanted and not what I wanted.  Anyway, I hadn’t see this movie in quite some time. 

I had to get ready for the Baby sprinkle so it was on in the background while I got ready.  I even got the gift ready made a phone call or two and then left just before noon. 

It was starting to rain by the time I got to my sister’s.  I tried to go in but the door was locked.  I figured I would wait until one of them came to the door.  My BIL did.  They were getting things together and we finally took off.  It was about a 45 minute ride and we got there a few minutes after 1. 

The party was already started like most of Cheryl’s parties.  WE got settled in and started to socialize with each other.  I was foretold that there is some bad blood between my niece and her MIL.  Apparently at one point there was a heated exchange (I missed).  Around 4 (and before the desserts were served) we decided to go.  Liz was basically getting tire and had enough of the whole thing (including the inappropriate behavior of some) and truthfully I was tired as well. 

Jessica got a lot of great stuff.  I am always impressed and amazed with the new outfits that come out for babies.  They are so adorable.  I can never find anything (as most of her stuff was already bought).  Of course I probably could look a little more.

When I got home I was greeted by my babes.  They were quite hungry and anxious for kibble.  I didn’t give it to them until an hour or so after I got home.  They have been roaming around here and vocalizing as though they were dying.  I have clean out their boxes for now. 

I also wrapped the loose coin I have collected over the months.  It took me about two hours.  I also was watching the Decades binge of TV movies and one was the Matt Houston series opener.  It was fun to watch it. 

I have also did some laundry and sent the dishwasher through..  It leaked a little tonight.  I think I didn’t close it as tightly as I should..  Actually it sounds like the clothes need to be put in the dryer.    So I am going to do that.

I am very glad Livia is coming tomorrow. 

This is why I don't watch

I understand there was a screw up on the Oscars last night.  It has been talked about on social media and the news.  This is why I don’t watch it or any awards programs.  First of all I think it was very stupid on the part of the people who handed out the cards to the celebrities and I think they should have checked it before being announced.  You are probably going to say “it’s live” but it’s unprofessional and wrong.  I am pretty sure these people all partied before going and they should stone cold sober.  It was awkward to say the least.  I can’t believe it they have mentioned the damn mistake three times in the time I watched it.

Livia didn’t come today she had a Dr. Appointment this morning.  So she will come tomorrow.  I am so looking forward to it.

Work was good busy from the moment I got there.  I worked on the refunds most of the morning and then in the afternoon the mail.  I do have some refunds to mail in the morning and more mail to get done but it will first thing in the morning.

I called the Credit Union and explained the situation to them and she put me on hold to look in on it but it took too much time (ten minutes) and decided I would go to Walgreen’s later on and get money from their atm.  I had no problems.

I did get some really funny and appropriate cards today.  There was a Dr. Seuss one for Jen and Chris and of course I hope a funny one for my cousin RAH.  Then the one for the Senator and her husband about the loss of a father, I also got some treats.  The cards and the ticket were mailed on the way home tonight.

The party tonight was great I got home just before 10 and I met a lot of Chris and Jen’s friends and family.  I am not overly impressed by her parents.  I was thrilled to run into some of my cousins. The food was finger bar food which was okay. 

Well I need to get to bed.

 

I had a great time yesterday

Yesterday was Dr. T’s Pool party and it was a lot of fun.  It was mostly her friends from the Education world.  Some of them were retired and some were just starting a second career.  Of course Woman’s Club members were there too.  The weather was nice.  I didn’t think the weather was too hot but then again i was wearing jeans and a shirt.  Not the Hawaiian theme that Dr. T was hoping for.  I guess I didn’t pay attention to that detail (again).  They were very accommodating to my POC and had places to plug it in.  The food was great.  I stayed until 6.

When I got home it was nearly 7 and I spent the rest of the night watching TV and managed to make the bed and put some more laundry in the wash.  I actually have more to do before going out today.

I was in bed by 8 because I was tired but did watch TV and surfed the net for  awhile.  Sky came up for a while and slept at the end of the bed and he also cuddled with me.  He did that a few times during the night.  Tiger came up near the end of the night into early morning.

I don’t think Tiger is feeling well I heard her heaving on the bedroom floor and there was a huge pile of vomit on the rug at the bottom of the stairs.  That’s in the wash now...I don’t think I will have much of it left (the rug).  I love my brother’s attempt at cat related humor (at least I think it is...with this.  Luckily I don’t think she has brought me home anything unless you count the two dead field mice in the cellar.  

I am trying to get some letters written before I go out this afternoon.  I have also contacted one another pen pal about writing and my address.  I haven’t heard from them or one other yet and that really can be annoying.

I am doing bingo at 2 pm at the nursing home.  Several weeks back Natalie and I discussed doing this as alternative because in essence things are changing for Sunday’s and because there is not enough room in the recreation room these days for activities.  Now granted I am under the impression that we are doing bingo in the main dining room.  If we are not the same problem exists for the recreation room....not a lot of room.  It will be interesting to see how it is done.  It will only be for this month so far.  Not sure what the ensuing months will bring.  I think I will like it in the afternoons because I can do things in the morning (like sleep), before going off.

After bingo I am suppose to be having supper with Liz.  She is spending the mid morning going up to Southington with my Niece to look at some bedroom stuff.  They are in the process of putting a bathroom/laundry room into the master bedroom and have lots to do.  However, I just got off the phone with Liz and she says she isn’t feeling all that well.  We may not have supper but just a quick visit.

I have to tell you it is a beautiful morning.  It is starting to get warm but it was absolutely beautiful.  Its about 76 degrees.  The Temperatures may go up but not all that high.  It will be a lovely day.

Today was our Christmas Party

The Christmas Holiday Committee went all out this year and sent invitations back in November for the luncheon that was held in three different areas for availability.  They even had tables so that we could sit and mingle and eat.  The menu included ziti, chicken, eggplant rollatini,  potatoes, salad, and dessert.  We all received lovely coffee cups with the University Logo on it

Liz called me and told me there were two sets of kittens from different litters that there are 3 months old and 5 months old I think she told me they were tabbies.  Anyway we will see them tomorrow.  After work tonight I went to Petco and got “supplies” that included a scratching post, 1 set of dishes, two litter boxes and scoopers. and a cat carrier.  oh and I forgot to mention the 25 lbs of kitty litter.  It was too heavy to bring in. and will tomorrow.

Since I have been home I put the boxes in the rooms I want them to be and straightened up a few places and closed off some of the rooms.  Now this is going to sound a little out there but I swear I heard a cat meowing.  I called Liz and I Think she thinks I have lost it..  Maybe I just imagined it.

Tomorrow I am going to get an early start on stuff.  Make sure things are still in place in case I do bring the kittens home.  There also may be a good chance I won’t bring them home too.

Right now though I am so tired and achy I need to go to bed.

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Happy Nov 1!  It is a wet and rainy start to NOvember. Earlier forecasts had predicted snow for the state but instead we got the rain.  We got rain Wednesday which surprised me and I was sort of surprised for Halloween night.

Work has been busy and a little stressful for everyone.  Productivity for most and of course for me I am still swimming according to SR in the mail.  Its still the re-address mail with the pre-authorizations.  No I am not asking for help.  I love my co-workers but ever since I had the  dizzy spells tuesday they have been making sure I eat.  I have had an offer to have a dinner made for me.  Some people feel I have lost too much wait.  Others of course feel I look great.  I had called Liz and told her about the spells and she wondered if my perhaps my illness is causing them.  

Thursday was Gloria’s Retirement party.  It was great and lots of food.  Of course a few people asked if I ate.  I made sure I did but it was heavy on my stomach (that I noticed a couple of times of late).  It was great to see JoAnne, Ellie, Mary, Jean, and many of Gloria’s other friends and former co workers, and of course her family.  I did leave after dinner and speeches because I wanted to be home by 9.  The drive home was better than on the way to the restaurant.

Thursday was also the day that First Lady Michelle Obama made her visit to campaign for the Governor.  It came at the worst time.  The highway was shut down for her to come right through.  It caused traffic jams for hours.  What would have probably taken me a half hour nearly took me 45 minutes to get to the restaurant.  I didn’t panic I didn’t get too crazed until the gps decided at the last minute to tell me to get off at exit 48 when I was two lanes over and traffic kept coming...

Friday I got my car serviced.  It was long over due.  I finally got the tired plugged that had been flat for so long (after about gazillion people told me to do something about it) and they were rotated.  I consider this to be winterized.  When I came home I locked the house up and finished my left over sandwich from earlier in the day and then came upstairs and watched TV.  In plain English I didn’t give candy out for Halloween.  Instead I watched a Law & Order Marathon until I got tired.  Apparently Neighbors Kim and Sean had a lot of people at the door.  I didn’t mind not handing out candy.  I just hope I am not falling into a trap of heading to bed the minute I come home at night.  

I have a hair appointment at 10 and I still need to shower and go to the bank.  The rest of the day I am going to do stuff.  I am not sure what yet but anything is better than just hanging around.

Dear Friends

January 24,  2014

Dear Friends:

     Sorry for not getting back to you yesterday but it got busy and I wanted to make sure stuff was all done before I left.  I wasn’t sure if I would get it all done and delivered but I did.

    I got to see Grandma Mary she came back after a couple of days off.  Her new grandbaby arrived over the weekend and she hasn’t seen him yet because she got a cold.  She was very disappointed but she is anxious to hold him.

    When we got to the garage I took a few minutes and cleaned out the car.  I headed to Tim’s and apparently they were expecting me yesterday morning.  Great.  So they took me home and said they would call me and tell me the news.

    MOm was sitting in the back.  She wasn’t feeling great but she did manage to put the coffee together for the meeting.  I started getting ready for the meeting.  I even finished the minutes as best as I could.  Mike and Tess came with some stuff to warm up and Tess and I talked about ways to improve the minutes for the future.  

    Eventually people started arriving we had ten members including a new 4th District member and a dear family friend who brought her beautiful 1 year old.  MOm got to see the baby.  We sent them upstairs.  The meeting lasted until 9 and we then had refreshments and cleaned up.  I stopped to relax for a bit and then got back to cleaning the kitchen.  It was nearly ten when that was done.  

I closed down the house and then went upstairs did some surfing and then went to bed around 11.  I think I had a pretty good sleep until the alarm went off this morning.  THen I didn’t want to get up but I did.

I was late for work but the day was busy I had gotten a lot done and we had a farewell party for the Ex Director.  She has been here for 15 years.  She gave a speech and we had cake.  She will be VP at UCONN Health.  

After work I headed home.  Mom was upstairs and in her office.  She wasn’t really feeling great.  She was irritable.  She was commenting on an email I sent out to the 4th District that the only people I sent it to was her and Phil.  I explained that I use the BBC when its a lot.   She doesn’t want me to do that she wants to see who it was sent out to.  I have a problem with that.  First of all I don’t think she is doing it because she is a committee member but doing it as “Mom”.  She does this from time to time and I feel it's inappropriate.  I told her I would do it but I resent it very much.

She did help with my dinner.  We had cooked it in the Brevillle oven.  We should have defrosted the lamb chops first but started to cook them and then defrosted them.  Once the got to cooking and once Mom felt they were okay she went up to bed.

I ate and watched TV for a bit and then went upstairs.  My arms and legs are hurting tonight and so I don’t feel like going back downstairs much but I did.

Now I am going to bed.

Dear Friends

    I finally went to sleep some time after 3 am Saturday and I know that Its all the coffee I had Friday.  I know at one point it was decaf but I went and added the regular.  I spent the time trying to clear out one mail box and updated the Java program that’s been waiting for me to do it for the past two days.

 Mom had a rough time sleeping herself.  She had a nose bleed at one point.  I asked her how she slept when she got up around 9 and she isn’t feeling well.  We did not go to the lab after all.  I told her we would do it Monday.  She said she didn’t want me to lose more time.  I reminded her I have off.  We were not sure if the Lab is closed that day or not.  I tried to get an actual person but I couldn’t so we will just have to go over and see for ourselves.

Mom spent the day as quietly as possible spent time on the computer and  I did some errands and picked up some cough drops for her.  Since I didn’t sleep well myself I took a couple of naps before going out to Telka & John’s Party.  As I suspected most of their friends and some of their family were there.  I had met them all at past parties and some of them they both worked with and of course know my neighbors Kim and Sean.  Of course some friends I knew too.  I stayed until 9 and was home a short time later.

I had a lovely chat with Barbara G who is very interested in seeing Mom.  Barbara is a friend/former woman’s club member and knows Mom from before I think I was active in politics.   Anyway she wants to visit and she has gift (not a physical but metaphysical) she wants to share with her.  She reminded me again of what I need to do for Mom as well as myself.

Today I went to bingo and church.  Sadly I found out that my one of bingo regulars passed away in the last few days.  I really cried.  Despite the fact he sometimes was a curmudgeon he grew on me.  It was nice that both Dennis and Bob were there to be comforting. 

I found out that Liz was at church but not for the service.  She was picking up communion for Mom.  Nelson had told me when I called after church.  As I was driving away I met up with Liz.  They were at our house 15 minutes later.  She had stopped by earlier and made arrangements.  Nelson came in almost full Knights Uniform.  He looked mighty handsome.  They stayed for a short time and then headed out.

After they left Mom got tired out but worked on her computer and got a call from Jim.  She is sleeping now but when she gets up later we are going to make the tomato sauce for spaghetti.

I have been lazy.  I watched a few movies and now surfing the net while I write this.  I am getting a little aggravated some of the sites are slow loading up today.  I don’t like and I don’t have patience.

Well it sounds like Mom just got up let me go see what she wants to do.

I hope I am not getting sick

I noticed I was coughing a little more yesterday morning.  I hope I am not catching what the cruise people got.  The cold weather isn’t helping either.  Oh and it was snowing for most of the day. It only landed on the grass apparently.  Really?  Seriously?  Come on.  We are supposed to get more next early next week.

Work went well despite the feeling yucky.  I got a lot done and off my desk.  I stayed until six helping out with the scanning and was out the door by 6 and home by 6:30.

Mom had warmed up some eggplant and meatloaf for my dinner.  She had gone out to lunch with the Knitwits to GoodFellas in New Haven so she wasn’t hungry.  We did talk about Easter and as I suspected we will be having dinner here.  She talked with both Ethel and Liz.  

Liz offered to pick JH up when she goes to pick up Rich on Monday (he is spending a weekend in Ireland to see a soccer match).    JH is coming just about the same time.  We definitely will get together at Easter and it will be great to see him.  Now I am wondering if I should get his Christmas Gift?

After dinner I went to the DTC cocktail party.  I ate some more and I really shouldn’t have.   I was getting achy when I got home.  I had a lovely time spent about an hour and half there.  THe only downer is only 20 people showed up out of 110.  As you can imagine the organizers were a little put out.

It was around 9 when I got back to the house Mom was sleeping in front of the TV so I left her there for a bit and then when I heard her walking around again I went down and talked with her.  We talked about the party and then we said goodnight to each other

Well I have to finish getting ready for work.  I will be staying until 6 again tonight.  When I get home though I need to do laundry and stuff like that.

A lovely Day

Well hello all.  I had a lovely day and the things that concerned me were not even a real issue-anymore or to anyone else. 

I did the errands I needed in the morning, came home got the laundry into the dryer and then had a quick bite to eat.  I had already called RR to make arrangements to pick her up for the meeting and so I just relaxing for a bit before taking off again.

It was after 12:30 when I picked RR up and we talked about the week and how I was working on letting people know when I was upset without showing them.  I told her about the “incident with T and of course she told me not to worry about it.

We got to the house close to 1 and were the first ones there.  We talked while waiting and then the girls came.   They worked on the Valentines that were left and I was watching and writing the minutes.

The meeting lasted until 2 and we all chatted after awhile.  When the girls left we talked some more.  Then we headed home and I dropped RR off and I came home and relaxed until it was time to go to church.

Mom came home a little after 4 from shopping and then we took off for church.  We had to park near the school and it was rather precarious.  We sat about two rows behind Liz and Nelson.  Some of L’s friends from both school, and the Knights were there as well as two of N’s own siblings.  The three of the newest Eucharist ministers (that would be L) were commissioned on the Alter and it was great.  After Mass we saw some friends (the daughter A was in the girls club) everyone else went back to the house for Pizza party.  I did tell Liz about Aunt A.

That’s right I didn’t mention this earlier.  Aunt A is a friend of our family.  She was the sister of Mom’s dearest friend and for several years lived with “IM” when “IM” had retired from Burndy’s.  After IIM had died Aunt A moved to TN to be with her other Sister.  When things didn’t work out she moved back to NJ  where she remained until  her death.  Mom tells me the services will be in Staten Island where she spent part of her youth and married life.  Mom has been in contact with BM (Aunt A’s nephew and the  oldest and remaining son of “IM”}.

Sis gave us each a little thank you gift for being at the “commissioning” and they were all some form of the cross.  Mine as a blue dove in the middle of it.  Its lovely.  I am going to send her a quick thank you note for it.

We left the party just around 7:30.  There were still a lot of people there and we had a great time but Mom was getting tired and she didn’t eat all that much at the party.  That was definitely not a problem for me.  I did have some chips but mostly salad and the pizza and this atomic flavored Chicken wing.  That was definitely too much..  There was dessert but I begged off.

When Mom and I got home I watched TV (and started to write this entry)  and did some web browsing.  I finally wrote a new entry in my NCIS blog.  I was going to write more stuff for the other blogs but I had taken some night time ibuprofen and started getting tired.

It was after 3 when I got up and make a bathroom run.  Unfortunately the toilet is back to its old self again.  It is running by itself.  Although not as much as before.  I think it may have just started up yesterday.

I also noticed it must have snowed during the night.  There is a light covering on the ground.  I guess there is more on the way but I hope not until I get back from Bingo this morning.  The moon was out but for how long would be a guess.

UH oh.  The alarm clock just went off.  I did try getting some sleep but it didn’t work.  I wanted to finish this entry.  I will try to rest for another hour and then  do more laundry before leaving for the nursing home.

I finally know what to get Mom for her birthday.  I will be making a contribution to Bridges in her Name.  I told her about it this afternoon.  I didn’t tell her exactly what I was doing but only I had an idea and she might like it.  I just need to make sure I have everything else taken care of first.

Okay I need to get back to bed for a while.   I will see you later.

Good News

I am here doing Scanning OT and the three of us had an opportunity to speak to GayleC and she is home from being in the hospital/infirmary.  She sounded stronger and happier.  She hadn’t been home in over a month.  Gayle and I spoke late last week as well and went over the same stuff we talked about then too.  There is a strong possibility that she will be attending our team party next week. (:0)

Happily I got the daily stuff done.  I just started on the postage tallies for today but need to finish it tomorrow.  Then I can work on the readdress mail until lockbox comes.  I am thinking it will be heavy.  

Jim emailed me this afternoon his wish list.  Gift Cards to Amazon, LL Bean, and of course Wegman’s.  He is coming here for Christmas so I can keep his here until then but I have got to get the kids theirs before they go to Colorado.

The more I hear about Geoff Fox’s behavior the more I wonder (along with many other I have spoken to) if this was the real reason he was fired from WTNH all those months ago.  Whatever the reasons for it.  He is going to have to make some serious changes in his life

There is one batch I am working on that is taking an awful long time.  I won’t be getting many batches done tonight because it is already 5:30.   The batch has 130 pages to it.    I was able to do 9 batches and a total of 400 pages altogether.

Its time for me to go now.
