Another Party

I have been awake since 6:30 in the morning on a chilly dark Saturday. The sun came up at point but missed it. Probably because it became overcast and it wasn’t going to change much.

I want to get this room done and get the Christmas cards either done or mostly done by the middle of the week. I have the Gift Delivery this afternoon and I still need to go to the bank before I do. Then there is the party at Black Stallion restaurant.

I just paid the Car Insurance and will get that out in my travels today. I will also have the cards out as well. Trying to figure out whom to send the cards to first is still a troublesome act for me.

Well I figured out what to get the little ones and the older ones…..everyone over the age of 7 in the Rivera/Morgan Clan will be getting money. The ones under seven will be getting gift cards.

The gift delivery went off okay despite the fact the carts were not ready for us. PJ didn’t know about those. What the hell did you all think we would use? That gave me a head ache but it went off okay. Twice I gave a gift to someone and someone else gave the same people a gift. That’s really a waste of time but there seemed to be more residents then gifts. I took a few moments to talk with the strikers afterwards they asked me to make sure “Grandma” gets to bingo. I told them I would bring some coffee to them tomorrow.

When I got home I didn’t do very much I think it was nearly three. I hung out watching TV for the afternoon until it was time to get ready. I wore the pin stripe suite with the sleeveless green blouse. For accessories I had two rings on each hand, a nice necklace and a squirt of perfume. Black shoes (I really think they were dark blue but did the job fine)

I left just after 5:30 and got there by 6. It was far too early for me to be there. Gayle was supposed to come just about then or so I understood but she didn’t until closer to seven. I spent the time having some coffee and salad and talking with the waitress. It would seem the owner is not a pleasant man and his been running off his staff.

After awhile the others began to arrive and we helped decorate the tables a little. Eventually more and more came and we started to order food. Some were not happy with the service or the food. They basically didn’t understand that when people came they ordered what they wanted. Most of the others enjoyed their food. In total there were 17 for dinner and more arrived closer to the band performance? It was a disappointment for Gayle.

After paying my share of the bill (we were all supposed to pay for what we ordered) there was some question on some of the things we had. Maria B and her friends were really getting on my nerves too. They spoke amongst themselves in Spanish most of the time. Would not tell the waitress what they wanted and was dismissive. They needed to speak clearly and succinctly so the woman got the order right and not waste her time. As it was there were things on the bill (I think G & A had ordered but forgot about) that weren’t ours and Maria ended up paying for it. I left for home around 10:30.

Mom was home by the time I got home. She had been home only a short time too. She had a great time. We talked about the evening and how much fun we had.

Now that it’s getting late I am going to bed.

The Concerts

We left the house around 4 after a brief visit from Tessa and Mike. They were dropping off my calendar and some rolls for Mom. We got to the Casino by five after a few slow moments on the highway.

Once we got to the casino we headed to one of the buffet restaurants (I think it was seasons) we paid for our meals and then were seated at our table. We got our drink orders and then headed to the food. I can’t begin to even tell you what I had. Suffice it to say it was a lot.

After we finally finished eating we took a walk around the shops and did some window shopping. I even got a back and foot massage at Brookstone. We were surprised to find the store that had the big huge shark tanks had closed some time over the last few months. Around 20 of 8 we went to the ticket window and got the tickets.

We went to our seats way, way, way up in the nose bleed section. It was a bit disconcerting because we were only a few up there and when I was in my seat I could feel my legs go week and my stomach lurch (for lack of a better term). While we waited we watched the stage get set up and listened to the music and saw the coming attractions and chatted.

Exactly at 8 pm James Blount and his band came on and started playing after a few sets he introduced the band and continued playing. At one point he would have the audience interact. He climbed on the instruments. At one point he would go into the audience to get them to clap along and one woman stepped in front of him while he was running and hugged him. He was finished by 9. I think the song he is associated with “You’re beautiful” was the one he closed with. You can find out more about this talent man at his website.

We sat in our seats and watched the set up for Sheryl Crowe. It took about twenty minutes and she started at 9:20. Her concert was for 2 hours. She played her most famous songs and one that wasn’t so famous entitled “Gasoline”. Dave thought that one was corny. You can find out more about this talented lady and her music at Sheryl Crow Official Site. You will need to have flash media if you want to read her blog. I am very interested in knowing what she thought of the casino.

After the concert we drove home and we were home by 1 am. All in all I had a great time and would like to see more concerts.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
