Another Lazy Afternoon

Somehow my afternoon after 12 pm, whizzed by me. We did our normal routine at the beginning of the day and I fell back to sleep for a bit and then spent time on the laptop. I was surfing the net and chatting with a pen pal who was having a hard day.   Missy lost a dear friend of hers of 19 years to Corvid19 and it was difficult.   He did a lot of stuff for her and she was just sharing the things he did for her.   She shared news about her mom that I didn’t know and it was fairly tough. I went to the gym this morning and did the class.   We had it outside despite the clouds above.   We were just waiting for the rain to start it didn’t come until we were already gone. I never got the water bottle that I left there on Thursday.   I checked yesterday and again today and it wasn’t there.   I thought she found it for me.   Either she lied or someone threw it away.   It belonged to RH from the DTC.   I did manage to go to rite-Aid yeste...

was expecting to have a schedule

I thought for sure I would be getting my schedule for next week but as you well know I got the word earlier this week and it will NOT be sporadic like I originally thought.   My plan is to go in as early as possible everyday so I can get as much done as possible.   I have most of my laundry done but some of them need to be ironed before I wear them.   I also got foods for lunch at least for the first few days.   I don’t want to order food at lunch or get stuff from the vending machines.    I think we all know I will anyway. We already have a lot of Union Activities (okay so may be 3 or 4) in the next few weeks.   We have a med school committee meeting (Not sure if is actually just committee or it’s a membership meeting) next week and some other ally meeting.   I made a promise to attend or participate in activities for the union and wouldn’t you know it I have a few conflicts already. So I went to the gym last night and did some cardio befor...

Couldn't sleep

Well the boys are asleep right now.   I was in bed by 9:30.   I took the Tylenol and it seems to be working well.   I couldn’t sleep so I came out to the office and wrote stuff.   I have been surfing the net reading some blogs and of course the IMDB that I wrote about in NCIS blog.   I heard from Olivia she was missing the boys.   I tried to take pictures but they were to blurry or dark.   I really wanted to help her out but it just wasn’t working.   Well she will be home Monday night she can see them when she gets here. Mom says I can get the ingredients for the dip Sunday since I don’t need them until Tuesday.    So the only thing I am doing   tomorrow is the bank and then coming back here and laundry and start to inspect the house and make sure it’s in order for the family’s arrival Monday night.   I can’t access my to do list so here is what it will be tomorrow: Laundry Bank Walk the ...

Getting back to Normal

Image
It is now 9 pm in the evening.   The road way heading towards West Haven has opened to traffic for nearly eight hours now.   People are cleaning up their yards, and cooking foods they may have lost during the power outage.   Mom just finished for now.   She even defrosted the freezer in the cellar.   We had meatloaf sandwiches and I thought they were good.   Mom is trying to take it easy on food as she got sick this morning.   I had no idea.   I think she is done with the cooking for the night. She had been working on reports as the storm hit and when we lost power she lost the document or so she thought.   She got it back earlier today.   I think she is going to work on it some more.   Either that or she is going to relax. I called Roberta & Mike and they have their power back but she doesn’t have to go to work tomorrow.   She only has a couple more days until she leaves for Arizona.    She isn’t...

Hurricane Sandy Aftermath

Personally we lost power sometime after I went to bed. I heard the printer restart. Unfortunately I can’t access the internet because the Cisco Router now wants me to log on. I don’t know the password so now I have to use Mom’s computer until we have it straightened out. Neighbor Kim has lost part of their fence. I am not sure about everyone else. We got an early phone call from BarryK at Bridges and his house was flooded. Our friend SusanS had her newly repaired house almost destroyed. I have been watching the news on and off. Mass Transit will be starting up later on in the day. I am going to check Facebook for my friends and family.

We has Rain

Image
It started raining some time during the night.   It is windy but not like its whistling pitch.   We still have our power while many others have not I can’t tell by this map for CL&P.   United Illuminating is our power supplier.   It looks like there is an outage in Bridgeport but no one is affected? Union meeting for tomorrow was cancelled!   Yay!   So I can come home right after work if there is no OT.   That’s also if we are actually working. I think that day we will have to use our time on that one. Liz called nothing new there.   I went to see them when I finished with my INR check-up.   They were not home.   So I came home. I had gotten a call from IMM asking me to come in earlier than scheduled as they were closing at 11:30.   I did and happily the level is 2.2 I have to stay at 20mg of warfarin and come back Thursday.   I actually have to call the oral surgeon and find out what the Coumadin level he ...

No rain yet

Image
It is after 7 am and the rain hasn’t arrived yet.   The clouds are here and there was a tinge of redness in the sky where I would normally see the sun rising.    It brings to mind the children’s rhyme: Red Sky at Night Sailors Delight Red sky in the morning Sailors take warning I did a search on it and found this article (or website) explaining the weather proverb.   It is very interesting.   The news reports are covering the storm preparations and providing lists of shelter locations, schools and businesses that will be closed and the length they will be closed. I am checking all the networking sites to see how the others are dealing with it.   They don’t seem to be in a panic-well maybe one or two.   They are going on with life. The news continues to share the possible scenarios that Sandy could take.   When Mom got up I had told her that many schools already announced they were canceling school.   She was confu...

It's Saturday

Image
Well good morning! I had a few moments before getting the day started.   I just finished yesterday’s entry and posted it to the sites.   I have been up an hour and feel pretty good.   I had a restful night even though I had a dream that (luckily) I can’t remember.   I woke up with a start and that feeling of fright is still with me. The dark clouds are out right now.   It looks like there is a slight breeze and it is warm out.   No rain yet but I am not expecting any.   I just did a search of blogs pertaining to Hurricane Sandy and most of them are from the Weather centers, and TV stations, and newspapers.   There are no what I call personal accounts.   Well we still go on with our day. My day will consist of the hair salon fro my hair cut.   Then I go to work for a few hours and then when I get home chores.   I probably won’t be in the mood to do it but this week that’s not an option.   Tomorrow is another ful...

Not going to be a quiet Weekend

This weekend will not be a quiet weekend at all. I am not just talking activity wise but weather wise. As I said yesterday I have made plans to support the union members of 1199 at HealthBridge West River Healthcare Nursing Home. I will be walking a long side them as Local 34 member as many of my co-workers through out Yale have done since it started on Tuesday. I will also be walking there as a member of the Democratic Town Committee from Milford. They may have to prop me up with a board or something because I woke up around 2:30 from a very weird dream. I dreamt I was in a world were people were Ghosts. The only cinematic reference I could associate it with is the movie with Nicole Kidman. The people around me I didn’t recognize but I had an opportunity to live again and I guess I took it. I still didn’t recognize anyone in the dream but just as I was becoming alive in the dream I was actually waking up. We are supposed to get some isolated thunderstorms late in the afternoo...

A busy Weekend

Well Hello everyone. The last two weekends have been incredibly busy and that’s the way I like them. As you recall last Saturday I went to Mohegan sun for dinner the James Blount/Cheryl Crowe concert. Everything was awesome. The seats were great even though they were up very high. On Sunday Mom and I had brunch with Liz and Nelson and our two nieces/granddaughters from PA That Sunday afternoon Mom and I went to a fundraiser house party for CT Speaker of the House Jim Amann. There was a lot of food and the weather was fine (it rained actually) and I had the pleasure of meeting actor James Noble (I) . He was charming. This weekend I helped out for a couple of hours at my club’s tag sale on Saturday. The tag sale was to last until for so I have a feeling it was called off when the weather hit. The storm came through violently around 12. It lasted about 1 ½ hours and apparently caused some flash flooding and downed power and telephone lines through out parts of Milford. As the storm subsid...
