2 Extra Large Coffees night

I decided to get two extra-large coffees from DD so that I can stay up as long as I can to accomplish something other than putting food in my gut. As soon as NCIS is over I have some letters to attend to.  I hope to work on it as long as possible.  As it is I had to block a guy who contacted me at least three times today.

I decided to call Sis late this afternoon since I hadn’t heard from her all day not even by text. I had a feeling she was pissed at me for something.  However that wasn’t the case.  She had been working on her insurance project today and yesterday.  She was also getting ready for an online meeting.

I was very unsuccessful at getting a hold of the Infusion center for the Corvid19 prescreening questions they are supposed to ask before my arrival.  Well I guess they will have to ask them at the door. My infusion is from 8 to 10.  I am debating whether or not to take my laptop to work on the letters and to do the crossword puzzles while I am getting my infusion.

There have been many unity rallies around the state.  There were rallies in West Hartford, New Britain and in Fairfield.   There haven’t been any in Milford but I would imagine it will be sometime soon.  No violent ones at least.  There was a great one in NJ that apparently went viral.  After a procession everyone did a dance and it included everyone including the police that were there for crowd control.

Well I have been multitasking too much so I think I better hit the sack….good night.

Another rainy start to the weekend

Good morning it’s Friday again.  It is 64 degrees and cloudy and rainy for the day but it will eventually be in the 70’s.  It will be the same way until tomorrow afternoon or evening.  Sunday is supposed to be better.

I would like to say I had a great time at the trivia game last night unfortunately, the background static and interference made it difficult.  Author51 did an awesome job as emcee.  It really gave me a headache.  I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t think it’s the computers but the internet.   I am not making sense but again we pay for good quality services and the providers should make sure they are doing what is necessary.

After the game I stayed up until 9:30.  Well if you call it that.  I lay down on the couch and watched the PBS line up.  Saw the TOH Cape Ann project wrap up and as usual they did a great job.    It was beautiful and I wonder how they are doing now.  I believe this project was done last year sometime.  They will be rerunning the episodes of the Paradise Fire from last year.  I am curious to see what their projects will be this coming season.  I doubt they did much this spring with the corona virus.

When I went to bed Sky followed and curled up on my shoulder and it was the best feeling.  He stayed in that position for pretty long time and then I turned over and he curled up differently.  I guess we stayed that way for the rest of the night.  Tiger stayed in the guest room.

This morning we did our regular routine.  This time I added making breakfast to my routine.  I actually made scrambled eggs with shredded cheese.  I did it for two reasons.  I have had a hankering for scrambled eggs and for the meds I needed to take.   I let the cats downstairs and had to bribe them to get them back up.  Now they are sleeping.  Sky is at the foot of the bed and I am not sure why tiger went.  Probably back on the guest bed.

I have checked in with everyone this morning that needed checking in the girls are busy working.  I haven’t heard from Jim yet or Liz.

I have been reviewing the latest pen pal emails.  It’s getting a little annoying but I will go into that in my pen pal blog later.  I am pleased I have heard from one of the 14 that I sent a letter to.   I am wondering why I can’t find the ones I deleted from outlook but I ended up finding them on the Gmail site itself.  Or where my replies (now I know why I keep saving them) go.

I still have some calls to make for the union and even then it may be hard.  I don’t like doing it while these people are working and I certainly don’t want to bother them once they are off the clock.  They want to relax, get ready for dinner, and spend time with their families if they can.  I have a feeling I will hear about it from someone.

I am trying to decide if I should head over to the Transfer station on the other side of town.  I down really have a lot going out but I am tired of putting it off.  I will need to have my vehicle registration as proof of residency.  I would think my license would be enough but what the hell do I know?

Since I barely used the pedometer on the phone yesterday there were not a lot of steps registered for yesterday which means I need to get a move on at some point.  Have I mentioned if it rains I would prefer not to be out in it?  I haven’t given my answer to AW about the video training session.  I was talking to Diane C from work yesterday and she says personal training sessions should not be done by virtual reality.  That’s just a way to get money.   I don’t trust PayPal or this Venmo.  I realize I may have used PayPal for the coffee orders but I am not sure.  I didn’t feel comfortable with the reviews for Venmo.

I do have to pick up the prescription that’s at the store.  Oh it’s the plaquenil.  Well maybe not the big motivator right now.

Well I better get going…

A Gorgeous Day

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day from early morning right through the day.  It was in the low to mid 70’s today here in Milford and it was the same in New Haven.  I even got to walk outside even though it was just to Walgreen’s.  The weathermen at Channel 8 is recommending the AC’s go into the window and get turned on.  I have a fan I may put it because I was a little warm last night and I have a feeling its going to be the same tonight.

I really got up early this morning before 5 actually.  I told Mom I didn’t go back to bed but instead got online, watched TV, surfed the net and the got ready for work and was out the door a little before 7:15.   I managed to even get breakfast at Dunkin Doughnuts and got to New Haven in plenty of time to get to the office and get set up and have my breakfast.

i was able to get a lot done today and of course have more to do when more comes my way tomorrow.  The office continues to make me feel very organized and have a lot of room.  I managed to get some supplies (cleaning and food related) for the office at lunch time.

It was nearly five when I got in the house. The drive home was really not that eventful if it was I really didn’t notice it.  I think because something was irritating my eyes today.  Of course when I got on the street I had to see my God sons Simon and Sawyer.

When I finally got in the house Mom was waiting on me for dinner.  We were having leftover stuffed peppers and cauliflower and for dessert fruit over shortbread cookies.  It was certainly refreshing for a night like tonight.

I got a weird email from Jamie’s email account. I emailed him and asked him about it he didn’t know what it was that’s when I knew it was a phishing email.  I forwarded the email to him so he could take a look.  I also told Mom about it at dinner and the end result.

I heard from the doctor today (my primary) and he wants me to start taking Vitamin B3.  I am not sure why I have to listen to the voice mail message again.  I really have to update my health blog. Its been weeks okay may be even months since I did.

Well I am going to get to bed.  I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow that includes going to Senator Gayle Slossberg’s  Campaign kickoff Party at 5:30.   I was talking about it with Mom.  I told her I wasn’t going to be there very long.  I am thinking of going for a couple of hours.  She is a really good friend of ours.

Oh and thanks to Keith in KY for this little reminder there is less the 206 days until Christmas....:)

Dear Friends

October 15, 2013

Dear Friends:

It was a beautiful fall day here and things went well. You could tell the holiday was over for this week.  Traffic was a little heavier than yesterday.

Work is fine.  I spent the morning working on more re-address mail until the Daily stuff came along.  I should say the lockbox portion was non existent because they were closed yesterday. I was still busy getting the daily stuff done.

I had gotten email with a link from Emily last night.  For obvious reasons I didn’t open the link but I sent an email and text message to her today and she replied that it was spam.  She apologized and I reassured she was fine.  She wasn’t having the best days but I was glad to hear from her.

I was the first one home tonight.  I was a little late too.  I think I got home closer to 5 really.  i was chatting with Ann and Mary before we left for our prospective homes.  Once I got home I chatted with Neighbor Don and then washed the windshield.  I am hoping it will be okay for the morning.

MOm came home around 6.  She was a little agitated.  She explained that even though she had a good day she is thinking of giving up the Regional Board.  For several reasons.  The first is the fact it can be far away at times.  The drive is sometimes stressful and she will be driving home in the dark.  She doesn’t want to depend on anyone driving her either.  I asked her what she would do with her time.  She didn’t have an answer.

I did tell her I heard from Emily today and I explained why.  It turns out that Mom got the same email as well.  She just deleted the one to her.  She was glad that Emily did reply.

Mom had vegetables for dinner while I had the leftover chicken and beefaroni from last night.   Mine was good and Mom ate most of teh vegetables.  WHat she couldn’t finish she put back in the container and will have it again tomorrow.

Both of us watched TV.  She was watching the P&Z meetings I guess.  I watched NCIS and did some surfing the net.

I have put a small load of laundry in the wash and will stay up long enough to get them through the machines and then I will go to bed.

I could finish updating some calendars...:)

Have a great night...

Kate

Make Better Use of my time

As you all know every morning the construction crew is outside working on the sewer project on our street.  Every morning I have left the house while they are starting to dig, move their machines and everything else.  For once I would like to leave BEFORE they get there so that I don’t bother them.  They have been absolutely wonderful about it though.  They work hard every day.  I even thought about parking down at the parking lots in West Haven or even at the Adams grocery plaza.

Today has been very busy at work.  I had a lot to do and got most of it done.  I have a few more things to work on but will do that tomorrow.  I did stay until 6 to help with the scanning.  I was pleased with the results.  My scanner was kinda giving me a hard time but once AC stood over it and intimidated it-it was working fine.

I didn’t get home until a little after 6:30.  Mom needed to move dinner along as a friend of ours was coming over to take a picture of Mom.  It was Pat K  she is a fellow DTC member and needed Mom’s picture for the Ad book/program for the dinner.  Once the pictures were taken she took some time and visited with us.  We talked about everything including her life in Sioux City SD.  It was very interesting.  When she left Mom got into her pajamas and finished cleaning the kitchen.

The weather around here was absolutely beautiful.  It started off with fog but by mid morning it had burned off.  It was in the 80’s in Milford by quarter of three and in New Haven.  Now its just high 60’s and it supposed to be nice overnight.  It isn’t supposed to be that way up North.  There are Thunderstorm watches and warning for tonight.  This is all mild compared to what happened on OKC.  Total Devastation, lives lost, almost every organization is making collections and donations to help the state.  I was able to finally get blogs that were from OKC and almost all of them talked about the devastation and their feelings about it.

I talked with Liz today.  She had baby Olivia with her and for reasons unknown to Grandma Ms Olivia was cranky.  I hope it didn’t last long.  LIz has been pretty busy with everything that was going on this past weekend.  WE talked about a lot of different things including the family reunion that is now two months away.  What her hopes and expectations for this event were.

I have some emails to answer including the Journal writing Mid-Week Reflection post before going to bed so I am going to do that.  I will see you all in the morning.

Unbelievable!

I wanted to see what the other major newspaper along the shoreline had to report on the impending strike at the nursing home and all they had was two lines reporting that Milford Mirror reported that the West River Nursing home will be going on strike. There were two comments on it. You can find it here. The Milford Mirror article is pretty much verbatim from CT-Post with a mention of the West River Nursing home lockout earlier this year.

I have had only one response to the email that I sent out and that was from MVB. He had read it in the newspaper. I explained we don’t get the CT-Post we only get the NHR. No one else has responded to it. I did call Dr T and Mama Roberta but neither of them is home.
Dr. T sent me an email that was sent to her from one of our friends BG. She was a charter member of our club and after several years she had to stop because of schedule. Anyway there are workshops this week Called POCD or something. They want to make changes or move certain things in town (the sports fields and move the library). I don’t totally understand it and I don’t know if I can make any of them.

The library would be a concern as Dr. T is a member of the library board. I forwarded the email to Chairmen Phil and Rich and most of the 4th District Alderman and P&Z board members for their input. I asked mom what she thought about but she didn’t know anything about it. I am hoping to hear from them soon. I probably won’t get anything now from Chairman Phil until tomorrow morning.

Mom and I had a nice dinner tonight. It was grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato and basil. It was delicious and hit the spot. Of course this isn’t good for us. For me it’s the salt content and how it affects the body. For Mom it’s the richness (and what ever that might entail).
After dinner I did some channel surfing and noticed several good movies on. “Happy Feet’, National Treasure among them most of the movies on during the day I have seen quite a lot. I just didn’t want to be in front of the TV all day today.

I have John Deleberto’s Echo’s program on. It’s been a staple of my Sunday night listening pleasure for a number of years. I probably will fall asleep to it tonight as I usually do.

The weather indeed is changing. I noticed the clouds were getting darker bout two hours ago. Sunset is in about three minutes. We are supposed to get rain later on this evening but I am betting it will be sooner. Mardi was telling us how bad it was on Friday. Trees were down every where-I don’t know if they lost power but if they did it wasn’t for long. I did ask how the clean up effort was going today and yesterday. I really didn’t see any news about it.

Well I am going clear out some emails and then hit the sack. I have another long day tomorrow especially it is the Return of Diva.

Not Raining Now

I guess Mother Nature decided to take a break from the rain because it isn’t raining right now. It sure came down last night and I could hear the rain when I got up around 3. It took me a little while to get back to sleep. There are leaves all over the yard. I guess there is more later on today.

Mom got up around 7 and I got home a short time later. Mom was waiting on the newspapers (they seem to come late on Saturday) so she was on the computer when I got up.

I also got online and noticed an email from Chairman Phil. It was about Dinner choices for Thursday’s Dinner. He wanted everyone who hadn’t made choices yet to send them directly and ASAP to him. Mom suggested it be friendly. Apparently I sent it out unfriendly like. So it was a little tense this morning and I almost told her to mind her own business. I also felt like telling her if she wants the job to please by all means take it. We moved on to other things now.

I have laundry started and will be doing more when I bring down the summer stuff later. I really don’t have much else planned for today but that’s okay.

Enjoying the snow

Well it is now after 12 Mom is making stuffed peppers and I am bopping between my NCIS fandom forums, watching TV, and trying to motivate myself to do laundry. The snow is coming down hard and fast. The temperature is 19 degrees. It is supposed to end later tonight (I am really hoping it doesn’t it).

The cable guy came out to see the phones. The phone jack wasn’t in the wall. Trying to get Mom to check the phones was frustrating. She finally got it. Now all is well. It must have been knocked out some time last weekend. Only one phone was ringing the others were not but still registering on the TV. We were trying to figure out how it came out I figured someone (either Mom or Mike) knocked it out-very easy to do.

Mom got some bad news today. A friend’s husband from the bible study group she is part of past away this morning from Cancer. I am sure the funeral arrangements are for early next week.

I don’t think Mom is going out to lunch with Martha today. I think it would be wise if she didn’t. I thought I heard Mom say that perhaps the United Way dinner tonight was going to be on after all. She said she may have to cancel her self going (I would prefer it actually).

It is now late afternoon: Mom cleared off her car and headed to the store. For all intensive purposes the storm has moved on to the Far East (RI). The Dolan Women helped her a little while doing the rest of the neighborhood. D next door cleared out the driveway. Mom was home by 4 and got a few things. She says the stores were empty.

Spoke to DM and it looks like we are moving the Mexican train game to February 4th and that works for me. Whether or not it works for the others is something to see.

We are eating dinner around 5 and I want to clear out some stuff that’s been sitting in the mailboxes for a long while.

Tell me about your snow storms

I got some bad news yesterday

I got some bad news yesterday

After I closed yesterday’s entry I had received some bad news. I had received word that my friend and pen pal Guru Ellen A had died recently (last Thursday). She had been in the hospital until Thursday when she died. The memorial was on Sunday. Telka received an email on Monday and she forwarded it to the board members who knew her. Ellen had been a member of the Woman’s Club up until three year or four years ago when some of the women broke away and tried to cause problems with us. We hadn’t remained in close touch but we heard from her now and then. At least I did. Her obit can be found at http://www.codywhitefuneralservice.com/obituaries/Ellen-R.-Aftamonow4691435347/ . She was an awesome Volunteer Librarian and was a great asset to the club.

When ever I had questions or needed a sounding board about pen pal writing she would be the one I would go to. She always took the time with the advice. If I ever go back to pen paling I will remember what she had told me. Anyway I mailed a card to her husband this afternoon on behalf of the club. They lived up the street from me. All of us are in shock.

My session with Debra went well. I told her how things went since we last met. She was pleased that I seemed happy. I told her of the conversations I had with Mom, Liz, and Dave.

The rest of last night was slightly agitating. The PC was a little slow but it eventually did okay. I watched NCIS for a bit and had dinner. Mom had her Annual Meeting for Bridges and she said it went well.

I sent out emails pertaining to the meeting this Thursday. Of course I put July instead of October. Mom pointed it out to me. I got a response from Jessica B and she joked around with me. I still have to do the minutes for last months meeting but I will do them tonight instead of watching Leroy Jethro Gibbs (my honey bunny).

Oh I discovered that our current State AG and future Senator Richard Blumenthal is currently following me on Twitter. That is awesome yet a tad overwhelming. I really have a lot of respect for this man because he has done a lot for the state. Anyway, I have to watch what I write on there. LOL.

I had a really hard time getting out of bed this morning. On top of that I had a wardrobe malfunction. The black pants I was planning on wearing formed a hole in the pants seam. So I had to put on a different pair. These pants are fairly old and they are like the blue ones I have. Even though I was afraid I would be late I still managed to get out on time.

Most of the day was busy despite the IDX system being upgraded. I generally don’t have to use it but many usually do and could do limited things. The scanners got to have the morning off. I will be able to scan shortly. I finished yesterdays and almost today’s work but left off so I could work on the Return mail (it’s started to get overwhelming for me).

Okay its time for me to get back to work…see ya later or tomorrow.

Last Night

Last night was really a nice night. I really didn’t do much except sleep and empty out my email inboxes. I didn’t stay for OT last night for two reasons. One I wanted to see if Mom was okay and she was. She wasn’t overly appreciative of the news that I called Sean to put away the recycle bin for us but I think she was over it after awhile. The other reason was I was not feeling so well myself. I did have dinner but my stomach seemed queasy and I seemed to be wiping and blowing my nose a lot.

The rain came while I was napping. I took a shower after dinner and then fell asleep until 8. From time to time I put the TV on and watched the L&O SVU Marathon to a little bit of “The Mummy” with Brendan Frasier.

I noticed the computer speed and signal strength was very low and I was afraid I would have another night of getting disconnected so I emptied out some of the emails. This time I did the Gmail accounts. The one that had the journal lists on it.

There was a new member named Andrew who had been lurking and decided to post about love sickness. At first I was a little unsure whether or not it was a troll who wanted to start trouble but his post about writing and the difference between love and lovesickness. It was very powerful. The rest of the emails were stuff from calendars and of course the Google Alerts for Journal Writing.

Today I hope to catch up on the postage return mail that I started yesterday and get he mail that I opened yesterday delivered. I hope today’s mail will be as light in volume as it was yesterday so that I can work on some of the readdress mail that is piling up again. There are some Connecticut Medical Society magazines that come monthly waiting to be redirected. I really hate those things.

Tonight I am just going to do the things I didn’t do last night the bill paying, the laundry, and perhaps some vacuuming. I don’t think I will be able to do it tomorrow as I will be helping the DTC with Literature Drop. I am not sure how long that will take but I am going to bring some thing to read or listen to my audio books. Unless I am going to be walking myself then I don’t know what will happen.

Well that’s it for now…later!

Had a sugar Rush today

Today was our Ice Cream social and farewell party for Howard B at work. Both of them were late in the day and although the Ice cream social couldn’t really be called “a social”. You stood in line picked one you wanted and went back to your desk. Lee Ann objected to it and it pissed off Dottie (and apparently this has been happening with more and more frequency for the two). There are a lot of things about Lee Ann I don’t like and she is so rigid on things that sometimes it’s a detriment to her and others around her. Howard was very touched by the party. He had been in a meeting with his new department and was told there was another meeting.

Today was also the day I was driving Dolette to and from work. The day started off rainy and my arm and legs felt it. I took the medicine unfortunately by the time I got to work my stomach was playing tennis with itself. Once I had some breakfast and took my tramadol it was fine. However, I didn’t eat very much for the rest of the day until the Ice cream social.

I did find out that there would be OT for scanning tomorrow. I am really glad because I haven’t done any OT all week and my last pay check was a little lean. As a matter of fact I need to pay a few more bills this weekend.

I will be attending the Irish Festival tomorrow at the Fowler Pavilion with my fellow Democrats for Senator Gayle Slosberg. I just have to find a parking space. I am thinking behind the bank and walk down. That means I have to extra careful NOT to have salt and to be prepared for the walking.

Mom spent the afternoon with Aunt Rosalie and Aunt Serena. They were doing some interior decorating with Mom. Aunt Serena has the best ideas for decorating. There are some pictures that were moved around and table scarves on tables and along chairs and of course hanging on curtains. Its really cool. They also talked about the Coulombe wedding we attended. They could not attend due to health restrictions.

After dinner I have been updating address books and sent John H’s to Mom, Jim, and Liz. I was supposed to do it yesterday but totally forgot. I am glad I did it today.

Well it is getting late and I want to get some sleep so I can be up early and be at work by 7.

More Inbox cleaning

In between all the traveling and working and family activities I have been trying to clear out the inboxes I have of old emails. I just recently cleared out some more of the pen pal emails from 2008. Well actually I grouped the emails by people. So the dates vary. For me that would be easier so that if I want to keep the email from the individuals I can.

I haven’t updated many of my other files as of yet. That is going to be next on the list. That will take some time. I will do that later.

I had a great day at work. I still have the rest of today’s mail to finish as well as the postage tally for today. There was no OT so I got to go home early. Unfortunately I had a little mishap. As I was preparing to get on the highway there was a car in the second lane I thought was going to come over into that lane and so I waited. Some one behind me beeped her horn at me and they yelled at me. I tried to signal at them and when they yelled I continued and then slammed on the breaks. The girl hit me. I was going to pull over but the girl took off. I thought it was one of my co workers (and on my team). I continued on to the nursing home.

When I got to the nursing home I noticed the side panel on the driver side was buckled. The fender was not bent much and there were scratches but nothing extreme. I think there was some damage to the front of the car that hit me. I just hope it wasn’t Zaneta that hit me because I really wouldn’t want things to go bad for us. I sent her a message via Facebook.

The reason I was at the nursing home was Natalie called me back today and we discussed the fact I wasn’t there. She had later remembered I had told her after a discussion that I may or may not be going. She also called to tell me they were changing the locks to all the doors and that she had one for me waiting at the office. I told her I would pick it up after work. While I was there I told a few people and they agreed the person behind me was following too closely.

We heard from Liz via email today. She apologized for leaving so early but they were not feeling well and still are not right now. They had a great time with us during the weekend. I will send an email to her before going to bed.

I finally filled out the questionnaire from the insurance Company today. Mom asked me about it after she saw the papers I got from Rawlings as well. Mom helped me fill it out and I will mail it tomorrow.

I have to remember to bring some money with me tomorrow. There are two more collections going around. One is for Howard’s farewell party from Accounts Receivable to Reimbursement team. His last day is Friday. I knew it was happening last Thursday. Everyone else knew before me. The second collection is for Marries S. Her father passed away the other day.

I am trying to clean out my inbox today

I decided I would really make and effort to clean out my inbox. I have at least three or 4 inboxes Three of them are in my outlook. The other one is hotmail and for some reason can’t be converted to outlook. Anyway I am tired of flipping from the web mail to outlook for the main email. So I am going to try and empty out a lot of that stuff. I am going to update files. The log sheets etc.

Most of the emails that I was looking at were from the pen pal lists and are about 2 years old. They were from members checking in with the lists, comparing gas prices of the time. They were sharing their activities for the day and of course requesting pen pals. I didn’t save these this time.

Wow there was many emails just for July 17, 2008. I hope I get them out of there because I would like to get the others from the web based mail in there. I can only imagine what’s there.

I decided to get rid of the emails from a group I belonged to in 2007 called the Fluid Haiku. I think they were some what political or on writing I am not sure but they don’t make sense to me. It may have commentaries on every day life.

I also got rid of email alerts from TV guide since I don’t currently have a folder for entertainment but some of the big stories were spoilers for Lost and Gilmore Girls. I don’t know if there was anything on NCIS...

I have a journal folder and there is well over 800 emails in that one. I am not sure I want to keep all of the stuff. I guess I wanted to keep things like emails from friends, news items, and historical moments. Okay I looked at it and they are emails from Dave, and Tessa, and alerts from the different blogs I am a member of. The alerts were about people I am following posting to their blogs and what not.

There was one health alert from my friend Lev M who has her own blog but was sending out updates or advisories on Tick-spread illnesses. This one I kept in the health folder as well as my journal for that month.

There was an email from me welcoming Jennie from West Haven back to the list. I didn’t keep that one. She was a piece of work.

Okay I hitnk I have done enough for tonight/this morning for the journal folder on to the Alumni folder. That will have school news and alerts from all the reunion school sites. I usually will log those and probably delete them. If there are personal emails I might save them to the journal folders as well. After that I need to go to bed. It is nearly 3 in the morning.

Triple Birthday party

It is a cool beautiful morning. I have been up nearly just over an hour and I am so well rested I think. I have already paid the rest of the bills due this month and had breakfast and started laundry. I need to get my eyeglasses fixed (or perhaps get a new pair) because they are so bent and really scratched.

Mom is downstairs shampooing the rugs and the runner that will be in the hallway upstairs. Then she is going to wax the floors downstairs. Then I am not sure what she has planned until we leave for the triple birthday party

The Triple birthday party is at Cheryl and Mike’s house and is for their 17 year-old son, and her father, and their Sister in Law Lisa. They will have lots of food, and drink, and probably what ever sports team is playing today on the tube. The best part is I get to see Jason and Audrey swim. Well at least Jason is swimming I am not so sure about Audrey yet. She didn’t last year. Mom and I will probably get there by three. As you may remember she doesn’t like being the first to arrive at any party. We usually get lost on the way to her house. I am hoping she will use the damn GPS.

I am going to catch up on my journaling buddies entries and see what’s happening with them. I then will post this entry as well. Oh and there is a discussion on one of the journaling lists about Tylenol. I mentioned on my lupus blog (the entry won’t be posted until 11 tonight so I can’t link it right now). I am trying to clear out the emails too for the journal list as well.

I guess the other discussions are the “Notebooks” that some people use when they are away from their PCs and other laptops. Some are finding the notepads hard to manage and are finding ways to compensate for them.

I just read an interesting blog entry on Social Security from my friends at Connecticut Bob. It is very scary what could happen. Being at my age of 48 in two weeks what will happen when I need it? These are one of the subjects I just don’t know enough about.

Oh I just started following a new blog today and they are CT Scenic. I guess they are a blog that talks about everything going on in Connecticut whether it is news, entertainment, politics, and from all over I guess. They have been blogging since 2009. One I am now following.

I also just watched a video I got from reading ORCINUS ORCA COLLECTIVE: talking about how a pod of orcas followed a Mink whale off of Newfoundland. The video was amateurish at best (something I have a slight problem with) because it was distracting a little. But it was a really cool video to watch the pod go after this whale. I never knew this type of whale existed.

Uh you are probably wondering what a Minke Whale is and so from Enature.com is very intense and scientific description of a Minke Whale. Why couldn’t this be in plain English? Actually once I read it was quite clear. This is a site I will visit more often.

Okay well it is nearly 11 in the morning so I am going to close out for now and will do some more reading and then get ready for the picnic. See you all later.

I was cleaning out some of the mailboxes

Since it was too hot to do much of anything and there wasn’t much on TV. I wasn’t really interested in seeing Juno, or Da Vinci Code. I decided to clean out some of my mailboxes of old emails.

Some that I came across were from two years ago and most of them were from the pen pal groups. They basically were chatting about board games they play. Most of the games they mentioned were ones I had either played myself or knew of. I don’t remember having monopoly but I had the game of Life. It is funny as each of those games has evolved to reflect the times we live in. It has been a while since I actually saw the board games but if I am not mistaken there are several different versions of Monopoly and the game pieces are different then I remember. The same can be said for Life.

Some of the other emails were members replying to my message about Mom going to have her back surgery. They were sending good thoughts and prayers. I didn’t keep them because they were through the list and my resolve to only save emails either directly to me or jokes or thoughts of the day or something that was interesting.

While I was clearing out the emails I realized I haven’t worked on the minutes from Thursday’s meeting. I have also to write a message to the group about the lack of attendance to the district meetings. I am not really sure how to approach attendance and the important elections coming up. I may ask Mom for some help with that.

I hope the AC is working at the nursing home today. I may have some help with a young man named Bryan and Paloma has a birthday party to go to I think. I think Natalie is supposed to be working today I will know for sure when I get there.

Well the thunderstorm came through last night. I could hear it around 1 or 1:30. Mom had just gone to bed and so I went through the house and closed all the windows. The thunder made me jump a few times. As soon as I got back to the room I shut down the computer and pulled all the pillows to the center of the bed. The bed is literally at the back window of my room. I remembered all the warnings and reports that people get struck by lightening in all odd ways. I didn’t want to take any chances.

Its time for me to get ready for bingo….cya later.

I am feeling pretty good tonight

I have to say I am feeling pretty good tonight. Things at work are going well. I was able to finish with the mail. I have readdress mail to do as well as sending out approvals and other things for the doctors to see. The office was looking very organized when I left.

I was doing OT and got almost 60 pages of refund letters done. I almost done with the one date and probably will start on another date by tomorrow. I will probably be doing OT for the rest of the week until Thursday. Friday everyone is coming in for the weekend family gathering.

I managed to get some bills paid tonight. I still have to mail some stuff to the credit union. That will be mailed tomorrow. I will have my car insurance mailed off tomorrow as well.

The thermostat continues to go to the top but there isn’t any bad smell like there was last October. I called last week but he couldn’t see me until this week sometime. Unfortunately I have been pretty busy and needed the car. I will have to call tomorrow.

I made some choices today. Instead of using the elevator in the parking garage I used the stairs both in the morning and at night. Food choices not so great but that’s okay. Tomorrow I will go for a walk depending on the weather of course.

I was able to forward my two Google email accounts to outlook and they work beautifully. Now I am save the emails that I want without having to use word or whatever else.

On a sad note my dearest friend Senator Gayle S and her family lost her father last night after a lengthy illness. The funeral will be Thursday Morning in Hamden and the Shiva will be Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 6:45. I have never been to Shiva so this will be a new experience for me. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers over the next week or so.

Well it is almost midnight and I am getting tired. I will chat with you all later.

Didn't Have a Great Day Today

Because of the events of the previous night I didn’t have a great day I managed to tell everyone that walked by me about what happened and they were dismayed. I got to the point of saying that if I had been in their homes and they had dictated to me what kind of hobbies I could have I would sue their asses. They either got defensive, disgusted or patronizing. In other words they understood where Mom is coming from and that I need to cut the crap.

I called Mom early in the day and she was baking a cake and I asked if she slept okay. She explained the letter kept her up all night. I told her it was taken care of. She said we would talk more about it later. I told her I wasn’t giving up pen paling.

Most of the groups I posted update to were sympathetic and offered suggestions of getting a PO Box. I even shared that with Mom and we almost got into it again. She refuses to get the point I can do it and she has no say in the matter.

Tonight I went out with Dave for a quick bite to eat and to see Marley and Me. It was definitely a great movie. Of course I cried the last 45 minutes.

Getting Ready for the Party

Good Morning! I will be getting ready for Telka’s party in a few hours. I am not going to be too dressed up but I will be wearing the blue blouse and matching pants. I will be bringing the cream puffs that I am going to be getting shortly.

This morning I am doing some laundry and answering emails. I had one potential pen pal ask me why I want to write women only. I couldn’t really give an answer to I posted to the lists and so far most of them have been responding to tell her “personal preference”.

I have another potential pen pal from Uganda. I love it when people send me emails and don’t tell me where they are from, where they got my name. It is a little unnerving. However, I will ask them and see what happens.

I was able to get all the errands I needed done. I went to Lowes and got nightlight light bulbs, then I went to Costco and got the cream puffs for tonight and stamps. After that I went to the dry cleaners and dropped off the clothes. The traffic was really agitating. People were going through the traffic lights and not paying attention to what they were doing. I was never so happier to get home.

Between the time I got home and the time I got ready for the party I watched TV and got the laundry out of the machines. I also read my mail.

I have another pen pal. She is from Indiana her name is Natasha. I think I may have chatted with her and written her before. She is on Liz C’s list with me. She is 36 years old and has one son and is married.

Well it is time for me to get ready I will see ya tomorrow…be well.

I was thinking

I was thinking yesterday that I have noticed in the last couple of days I was slipping back into some old habits. For example I haven’t made my bed since Saturday. The whole point of me waking up at five is not to turn over and go to sleep for an hour more. It is to get up and make the bed, have breakfast perhaps, get online for a bit and most importantly get ready for work without rushing around.

I have caught myself leaving my desk a little cluttered. I didn’t like it. It was a small mount of papers and not neatly either. I have since rectified it by throwing out the papers I have gotten the information from it. I have organized the piles to a neater way. Now I make sure that if I take something out or have dropped it on the floor to pick it up and put it away.

In the Blue room where most of my work clothes and special occasion clothes are in the wardrobe or even the back of the door found themselves on the bed after being in the laundry. I made myself take the time and hang them.

Yesterday I was online for quite a long time. I had it on and in between the opening of the mail I would reply to emails. I can’t do that because it causes me to get behind in the mail. The lockbox was delivered late anyway and I started to open it when I finished with the regular post office mail.

Today I was a little late because of me dragging my feet and stuff. When I got to work the charts and stuff were already there so I started on that right away. After it was done (within the hour) I finished up on yesterdays. I left the readdress mail for really later and worked on todays. I did the bad addresses for about the last two hours of the day. I made the effort to stay off the net and just got on at breaks ands looking up things.

Mom had her meeting in Middletown and once again she was caught up in traffic again. She was really aggravated. She has to look forward to it for two more days. IF that’s the case then tomorrow night I will get the downstairs cleaned.
.

I am wondering if I need to start doing my “to do list” again.

Had a scary moment online last night

I had a scary situation last night. Some guy name Robert’s Gallery sent me an email and says he wanted to send me nice photos. He didn’t ask me but he told me. I told him no thanks I don’t chat online with guys. He wrote back and said he didn’t want to talk just share the photography. (Nothing pornographic that I saw) I told him not to send it and than he didn’t even bother to tell me where he got my name. He got rude with me. I have saved the emails to word but you can bet I am blocking him.

He hasn’t sent anything more this morning but it really pisses me off when you tell someone nicely that you don’t chat with guys and you don’t want the pictures they send them anyway and then you are told to get a life.

I had a lovely comment to my last entry by Mrs. Rogers and she was very supportive of my lupus battle. I thought that was incredibly sweet of her. J

My weekly newsletter sparked an interesting conversation. One of the members told us her landlord would turn off the heat in October. A number of people suggested he get reported.

This morning is cloudy and I think some showers through out the day. I will be heading out to bingo in about five minutes and then to church. I think Dave and I are supposed to get together for some activities this afternoon after he finishes some work at his sister’s house. He had been painting the house all weekend.

Well I have been home an hour or so from my morning activities. I got to bingo early and discovered that two of the residents had passed away this past week. One of them was George T. I may have spoken of him a few times. He and his wife play bingo regularly.

I went to St Mary’s church in Milford. As usual I was late. The 10 am mass was being taped for sometime this week or next. The priest in charge was one I have seen on TV I believe he moderates the “crossroads” religious public affairs program on WTXX on Sundays.

I did some channel surfing this afternoon. I ended up watching Monday’s episode of General Hospital. I had to turn it off. I told Mom I have watched the show most of my life and it has NOT changed. Not one iota. The characters may have but the story lines haven’t.

I have some paper work to go through. I really should do it but I am tired and not concentrating very hard.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
