I really must have been thinking about this

Today’s #365 Day Question “IF you could do today over what part would that be” was on my mind today because the first thing I thought I did wrong was a conversation I was having with LeeP regarding our colleague’s loss yesterday.  Whenever we or I discuss death or the circumstances leading up to it I seem to say things wrong.  LeeP didn’t even think I said anything wrong but I felt I did.

I had another headache again.  I am not sure if it is me grinding my teeth or the way I slept or what I slept on or the atmospheric conditions going on.  It could be I was hungry as you know what.

I had a breakfast burrito this morning but it has done nothing to ebb the hunger.  I also did have a panini for lunch (vegetable). For lunch I had a vegetable panini.  It didn’t make the headache go.  I also took ibuprofen.  I thought it was not really working there either but I felt better by the midafternoon.  Dinner was from Shake shack.

I spent most of the day on mail. I had gotten a big mailing of the Connecticut Medical society newsletters for the doctors.  I decided to make labels just for them but I also had labels for the other doctors from another list that I used.

The mail was light and I was still working on the Healthlogic before I left for Debra’s office for our session.  I will have to finish that and the readdress mail tomorrow morning.

I went to the union committee meeting and we discussed the meeting that was tonight in favor of the Bridgeport MGM Casino project that will bring in union jobs from all aspects (from building to the actual day to day work).  Members of the MGM staff all over the country to provide stories and reasons it needs to happen.  I got to see many dignitaries of every level and even got a chance to chat with them.

I left there by 6:30 or so and started walking back to the car.  It was getting close to 7 and decided that I wasn’t going to the ladies guild.  So I sent an email letting them know I was coming.  I got a response later when I got home from JM.

On the way back to the car I stopped at Shake Shack and had dinner.  Their chicken sandwich was delicious (even with the crispy stuff on it).  I had a black and white shake that was awesome.  When I finished I headed back to the garage and to the car and drove home.

On the way home I called Liz and she and Nelson were on their way home from Fairfield visiting the kids. I told her about the meeting and it was clear she was not happy that the union was in support of this.  Oh well.

I managed to get home before 8.  I rushed to get Sky and Tiger fed and ran upstairs and settled into watch NCIS. I think they finished and Sky came up and meowed a few times and I kept calling him to the bedroom and finally came up and has been sleeping at my feet. Tiger has now arrived and is settling in next to him.

I enjoyed NCIS tonight.  It was weird seeing Tobias as PI but at least he is working.  I am glad that Gibbs is able to confide or talk with Sloane.  Gibbs has been written as close to the vest about things.  I wonder if the two month prisoner is just more of the changes over the years.  I am just waiting for the forums to start discussions.  Newbe has already.

Chairman Phil sent out the email alert today (about an hour ago) about the next committee meeting and people have already responded.  VC John was the first to reply for him and his wife.  (They are attending) and then four others said no.  I don’t think I have to tell you who declined right?

I never made it to the gym tonight for my treadmill session.  I could have used it but I also did a lot of walking around tonight.  I was/am tired and need to get to bed.

If the weather is bad tomorrow as they are saying I will need to leave early.  It is supposed to turn to rain later on in the day.

Thankful Thursday

1.            I am thankful for my family warts and all.  My Niece in NY has the flu…welcome to the rest of the world honey.  I talked to my cousin in NJ.  He hadn’t been on FB for some time and I was concerned.  I had learned he had to move out of his house he grew up in.
2.            I am thankful for my kitties.  They have a dental procedure Monday.  They are getting used to the new feeding routine.
3.            I am thankful for my job.   Been Busy.  We have a retirement party for a coworker tonight and tomorrow.
4.            I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health.   I see the Lupus Doctor this afternoon.
5.            I am thankful for my neighbors:  They are well.
6.            I am thankful for my home.  Keeping up with it.
7.            I am thankful for my friends.  Heard from some of my friends this week.  Hope to find time to do letter writing.
8.            I am thankful for the organizations I belong to.  No movement on nominations committee meeting.  DTC is starting up again but I haven’t attended any meetings or fundraisers.  Conflicting commitments.
9             I am thankful for the weather.  The warm weather was nice earlier in the week then it got really cold and it is doing the bouncing ball.

10.         I am thankful for the men and women who choose to protect and serve their country and their citizens even at the worst possible times.

What is the Best Memory of last Year?

As I am sitting here thinking about today’s prompt of the best memories?  My trip to Florida would be the first and foremost.  It had been my first trip there since I was in grade school.  It was my third and 4th flights in two years.

I was excited because I would get to meet up with my friends I hadn’t seen since their move to Florida last summer/fall.  It would be in towns I have only heard off through the news, blogs, and stories from others who had been there.

Even though it rained for a good part of the time it didn’t last long but the things we did were fun.  We did a lot of shopping, and we visited places and had meals I wouldn’t normally have. I mean go to South Beach?  Miami?

I also got a chance to meet up with a couple of my classmates from grade/HS for breakfast and it was so fun.  I hope to meet up with them again the next time I visit.

We are still getting wind and snow this evening.  It started out light (around 3 this morning) and by 10 or so it got heavier and windier.  I have been getting snow updates from people around here but not too much from the Floridians.  Actually Jacksonville got snow and Tallahassee. For us here in Milford we are supposed to have snow showers and wind.

We did get an alert that the University will be open tomorrow and to show up on time (and I am guessing safely).  I have a feeling I need to get up extremely early and clear off the car and get in early.

I have to say the house is cold and it was up to 73. I probably should leave it up but I am afraid I am going through a lot of oil. I can hear the wind coming through the windows too.  I can’t wait until I get new ones.  That will have to be a spring project.

Liz called me this morning to see how I was doing…I was sleeping and she was gleeful because of all the times I called her and woke her up.  I guess payback can be a bitch.

I spoke to Jim and he was fine.  He has the perpetual allergy to his cat.  WE had a great conversation about that.  Unfortunately it was interrupted by a call from Debra.

So my phone session with Debra was great.  We talked about the holidays, work, house and pet sitting, it’s time to hang it up or at least the physical part of it (dog walking).  We talked about the health regime I will be looking into.  We will be meeting next Tuesday at our regular time.

I got a call from Next door was wondering if I was going to work tomorrow.  He may or may not be going out in the morning so he may wait to do the driveways.  I think I will have to go in late tomorrow.

The kitties have been handling this snow day just fine. They slept with me earlier today and then in the spare bedroom.  They have been downstairs a couple of times (in the cellar) but I closed it off for the night.  Tiger is sitting above me and I just heard Sky jump from somewhere.

I made spaghetti for dinner used a jar of tomato sauce.  Wasn’t in the mood to cook or create.

Well found out recently that our Cable provider took away Starz and Encore to our lineups.  I was just starting to watch those because of some of the movies and shows.  Now we will be getting Hallmark Drama channel and Flix and few others.  They are up in the 300 channels.

I could have been writing letters but relaxed and slept for a good part of the day.

I think I will go to bed early and start getting ready early for tomorrow.

What am I grateful for January 2

Today’s Prompt is what am I most grateful for?  Well first and foremost I am grateful for my family.  Despite the rocky patches we have had we still come together for the important things.  At least Liz and I do. Jim and I still have a pretty good relationship despite some disappointments this year.  MY sister-in-Law and have some distance. We haven’t seen each other or talked with each other except through FB.
I am also grateful for my job and the people I work with.  They are understanding when I must go to my appointments.  They give my opportunities to expand my skills.  Even if I don’t take them.  That usually means if there are classes that I might be interested but I don’t think I could take because it would take me away from my work.  My reasoning isn’t always sound.
Dave’s party was nice.  Unfortunately, Dave was neurotic and rude. His friend Jim and I were talking about Lupus and Dave just changed the subject.  Throughout the party he kept asking people to eat or did they try whatever dish was there.   It made me very uncomfortable.  I had to tell him don’t force food on me.  His cousin Dave was a pain in the ass and twice I had to bite my tongue.  I left around 4.
When I got to the zoo.  Relaxed and then took Preston out and then fed them. I don’t know the exact order but he also did poop overnight.  Man!

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
