One confirmation Down

Well I just received the confirmation for the car service about 20 minutes ago.  I am still waiting on the one for the airlines.  When I spoke with Liz she said it should be here already.  Well guess what it isn’t.  I have been checking since last night.  This is one of those moments that I am starting to think I should be getting all the emails and check them again.  I can’t have DO come because he is on his way to CA.  I did ask him a question regarding the tickets but he hasn’t answered yet. Well the party started.  The music is fairly loud but not a huge problem.  I was talking with Neighbor Don and he asked me if I was going and I told him I might he said he wasn’t because there would be too many people there.  He also gave  me some info on the guy .  He apparently won a great deal of money to build the house.  He wasn’t the same guy I spoke with (must have been a housemate).  Uh oh the music is off! :0( ...

Welcome to 2017

Happy New Year everyone!  The kitties and I are quietly enjoying the morning right now.  I have been back at the house for a short time.  Time enough to have them fed watered and their litter boxes cleaned out for now. The party yesterday was wonderful and full of energy.  There was plenty of food and some pictures taken of Ms Madison but I haven;t gotten them yet nor will I be able to share with you.  Her Mom is very adamant about pictures of her little one online.  Everyone seems to like my new hair color.  Which is great.  I left around 4 to get back to the menagerie.  I also came back to the house and checked on the kitties.  I went to the store for a later dinner despite the food we had at the party. By the time I got home to Preston and Vlad i was in a lot of pain.  So I got Preston walked and then came and fed everyone and ate my own dinner and then settled in for the night.  I took some Tylenol PM and i did get some...

Saturday Doings

Well it is nearly 8 am and I am about to do the unpleasant task of getting one Tiger Lilly into the crate.  I have it standing up with the door open.  The bedroom door is closed and I am trying to be calm.  She is sitting/lying on the bed right now not sure what to make of it. I have her feces in a bag (at least I think it is hers) as they requested.  I know it will be two hours before she goes to the appointment but they said it would be okay.  Besides it would probably take me that long just to get her in there.  She will stay in there until we leave.   Once I get her there it should just take a half hour.  I am also getting one of those microchips put into her so in case she gets out or lost. I am trying very hard not to get nervous about anything.  For example I don’t have a collar on her and I am afraid she will get out of the crate somehow and or out of the examining room.  I even sat down with her earlier and talked wi...

New Years Day 2016

After a fairly quiet night and being woken up to fireworks at Midnight today is also fairly quiet.  I got up early to straighten up and change the sheets on the bed I have been sleeping in for the past ten days.  Of course they were still in the dryer when I left.  Dishes are still in the sink there but I figure when I get back there tonight for one last feeding and walk it will be done. My goals for 2016 are already being tested.  I was hoping that I wouldn’t be so reactionary to things that happen.  For example misplacing keys a hundred times a day or not getting a good password on a site that’s important for the cats.  Both times I was very aggravated and angry because it wasn’t happening the way I wanted.  Can you imagine what tomorrow will bring when I need to get tiger to her appointment?  I will continue to find ways that be better.  I just have to continue to take a breath and look at the two kitties that depend on me to keep the...

Enjoyable Afternoon

The Gift Delivery was pretty good.   Since it was our first time doing it at the new place (new for us).   There were some “hiccups”.   There was some question as to what would or could be given out.   The young man there a bit confusing us in directions.   Again it was suggested by our alumni that hats and socks be the only choices next year.   I couldn’t agree more.   It’s a waste of time and money on our part if we can’t give the stuff out (it was cologne, toiletries).   After the activity R, T, M and I went out to lunch. WE followed T while she dropped one of the girls off at Private Community off of E. Rutland Road.   It had been a long time since I had been there and we have had friends over the years live there.   It was beautiful.   Then we went to Mama Teresa’s for lunch. We spent the next hour and half eating and talking and laughing about stuff.   We talked about travel and life in general.   It was a lot...

I am really struggling with the Holidays

I am still working earlier entries but I wanted to get this one done.   That being said this holiday has once again came too quickly.   I have not done a lot with the Christmas cards except send out three and started the labels.   I have so much to do and a lot of things going on all at once.   I was able to get the gift for the club party tomorrow and was able to get the contribution to the food.   It was wings and T approved of it.   I am never sure how much to get.      The only thing is they nearly fell all over T.   The party went well and there was a lot of food.   The meeting went well too.    We have three Christmas activities this coming weekend.   Two sing-a-longs and one gift delivery all at the nursing homes.   Two are at the same nursing home we have been associated with and one with the newest nursing home we did the Veteran’s day Service for.   The office Christmas Party that Nicole ...

My Car is in the shop

As you may remember I took the last part of  last week off for the holiday and I had dropped off my car Wednesday night expecting it to be finished by Thursday and returned.  Well that didn’t happen.  There is more than oil change needed for the car.  THey told me what needs to be done including alignment.  It is going to cost 2 grand.  Something my sister thinks is too much when she called me to find out what happened.  Nelson either called her or LIz  called to check in. (THat was Thursday night).  So I Have been without a car of my own or relying on Mama Roberta, and Papa Mike. for a few trips.. Thursday night Milford had a fantastic fireworks display and music.  The food truck lines were a little chaotic so we went to subway for our dinner.  THe crowds were huge.  When I talked with Chairman Phil a couple of days later he told me he saw me but I didn’t see him   He did say that many of the DTC were there.. ...

A Lovely Afternoon

The Celebration of Life/Memorial for my friend’s Mom was lovely.  “N” ‘s father sat on the back deck and greeted people as they gave their condolences.  There was a book to sign in and eventually the service began.  ‘N’s father welcomed and spoke at first of their lives.  I was amazed how much he  remember (he is at least two years older than his wife).  There was music, poetry and tributes including one from the Mayor (their nephew).  At one point you could hear Preston barking from his chair upstairs.  It was surprising to see many people i recognized including my neighbor “P”.  She was friends with “N” ‘s late sister. After that celebration I headed to my niece and Nephew’s home in North Haven.  It took me about 40 minutes and the ride was not bad on the Merritt.  Dinner was just getting started so I quickly said hello to as many people and grabbed my plate.  I sat with my sister and BIL and chatted with a friend of the ...

The Long Weekend

I was so happy to realize late last week that it was a long weekend.  I was having a bad start to the week at least I thought so but it turned out okay. Sue had Mary help my office back to shape.   THe rest of the week went better.  I was getting support from an unexpected source.  I am able to keep up now. Friday I was supposed to take a certain little girl to the vet and wasn’t cooperating.  So I cancelled the appointment.  The vet was not upset but understanding.  I not sure how many times they will be.  The rest of that night was fairly quiet.  Did some vacuuming. Saturday I ran some errands and spent time with Liz and got to spend time with Adam and Olga and young James who just had a haircut.  That afternoon I checked in on the pups.  Yeah them.  That night was Telka’s party, it was a lot of fun.  Telka gave me a surprise gift a note pad from animal planet about cats.  The picture looked a lot like T...

Busy Couple of days

Yesterday was an incredibly long day.I woke up early for no reason in particular.  It actually is becoming a blur but the day was pretty good and work was busy.  Some stuff different day. After work I headed to Roberta’s to pick up her contributions to the club party lat night (she had a prior commitment) and then I went to pick up the wings I ordered.  I got to Telka’s  a little while later.  I am trying to remember if there were girls already there or not.  ANyway we wrapped the gifts for the residents at the nursing home and then we ate before the meeting.  Jolyn came as well..  We had a lot of fun  Before we left it was starting to snow.  The girls were all excited and claiming there would be delays.  I am sure they were disappointed this morning. The snow was a dusting and covered the ground until midday today. It was still cold when I left.  It looks like we might get some flurries tonight.  The beginning of t...

Dear Mom 10/20/2014

Dear Mom,     It was a chilly and frosty morning and it didn’t     get any warmer than 60 today.  The rest of the week promises rain.       I had every intention of getting up at 5:30 this morning but after getting an early morning text message from Jim at 4 in the morning I saw no reason to get up that early.  I stayed in bed until 6.  I did get ready for work and was out the door a little after 7.  The things I had planned on doing can wait until I get home. Work was good.  Mail volume was late and light.  It allowed me to work on the re-address mail for most of it.  We had an in-house retirement party for Gloria O.  Her dinner is next week. I sent out the reminder yesterday for the 4th District this week.  We are having it at the Headquarters and so far its been six responses-out of twenty-five. It looks like I will be heading to PA for Thanksgiving.  Although Jim is g...

The Weekend

Saturday was quite eventful and long for me.  In the morning I went grocery shopping and then spent time cleaning out the car and going back and forth as to which car I was going to take.  I ended up taking mine with Mom’s GPS.  In the early part of the afternoon I went to Nelson and Lisa’s home for his birthday party.  I had a rather frightening time getting there.  First off there was a traffic jam for most of the ride up but on more than one occasion I found myself dozing at the wheel..  It was the most frightening experience i have had in a long time.  I was never so happy to be kids house in such a short time.  Of course I was early.  The party wasn’t starting until 3 and I got there after 2.  I told them of my experience and from that  point on I drank coffee and caffeinated soda.  The food was delicious and the beer tasting event was interesting.  I left there around 5 and headed back to Milford for the next activi...

Got Lazy after a while

I am afraid that after the last entry all I managed to do is watch TV and eat more food.  I guess the spaghetti wasn’t enough food for me.  I spent the time watching various shows and movies including the Star Trek with Chris Pine.  That movie basically blows canon for the original series and movies out of the water. I did manage to talk to Liz about tomorrow’s activities.  We even discussed my wardrobe selections for the party.  It wasn’t a long discussion as both of us were tired from our weekend activities.  As it is I haven’t really done very much else with wardrobe choosing so I am leaving that until early morning.  I have several options and they can be decided in the morning since I am not going to bingo or church that early. I haven’t updated my health, NCIS, or my pen pal blog yet either.  I have a few things in mind for each but I am now really tired and so I think they will have to wait for another time. I can hear the rain occasi...

Today is the Day

In about eight 8 hours the 35th Annual Meet and Greet will have commenced. There is up to 30 people expected to be in this house. Mom is downstairs preparing to cook the “famous” corned beef she serves to the guests and candidates. There is probably still a lot to do before then. I have been awake since five but didn’t get up until maybe seven. I have a few things to do before leaving for the day. I am folding some clothes and will get the bed made. I have to still iron what I am wearing for the day as well. I have the kid’s birthday party to go to before the meet and greet and I am looking forward to that. My only concern is the weather. It is cloudy and windy and a little rain is predicted for the morning. I am hoping it doesn’t change and continue to rain all day. The weather forecast is calling for temperatures in the mid 60’s and cloudy. I will let you know if it changed. Fore warning you all my next entry will probably be a critique of the day’s events. Who came, who...

I have something to do every day this week

As I was getting ready for bed last night I took a few moments to look over my appointment book to prepare for the week and for the first time in what I think is months I have some thing to do every single day this week. Doctor appointments, meetings, parties, hair appointments, and follow up car appointment. I sure will be looking forward to the weekend coming up that’s for sure. At least my work volume should be normal and I will be on top of it. It is a given that it is getting closer to FY end and that means more pressure and more stress for everyone. I have to remember that it isn’t personal if some one snaps. At least no one will say anything about the mail for the other floors. I have to remember there is mail on the side of the desk that I need to look at today. So you want to see my schedule this week? Monday is my session with Debra. We usually discuss the events of the past week and how I dealt with them and what challenges I have for this week. There are about ...

Party atmosphere

Image
It was really warm this morning it was nearly 50 degrees again.   I was glad I got up early enough to get the garbage out and the bins in the back.   I managed to leave the house on time and get the bus. The bus ride was uneventful and the bus didn’t get full until after we passed the church.   Even then it wasn’t at full capacity.   I was afraid I was going to sleep past my stop though. I ran into an old acquaintance of mine on the way to the office. His name is Dave A he is or was part of the DTC and more specifically the 4 th District.   Until this past year a member of our BOA in town but he hasn’t been to our meetings in a while.   The mood here has been in party mode all morning.   I have gotten there myself even though I started off with a headache.   I got a nice gift from Janet this morning.   It is a box of K-cups and a gift certificate for downstairs. There are a few parties going on today as well.   EV’s http://www.fa...

Another Party

I have been awake since 6:30 in the morning on a chilly dark Saturday. The sun came up at point but missed it. Probably because it became overcast and it wasn’t going to change much. I want to get this room done and get the Christmas cards either done or mostly done by the middle of the week. I have the Gift Delivery this afternoon and I still need to go to the bank before I do. Then there is the party at Black Stallion restaurant. I just paid the Car Insurance and will get that out in my travels today. I will also have the cards out as well. Trying to figure out whom to send the cards to first is still a troublesome act for me. Well I figured out what to get the little ones and the older ones…..everyone over the age of 7 in the Rivera/Morgan Clan will be getting money. The ones under seven will be getting gift cards. The gift delivery went off okay despite the fact the carts were not ready for us. PJ didn’t know about those. What the hell did you all think we would us...

I sprained my ankle yesterday

Well my holiday partying came to a screeching halt yesterday. I was coming out of Liz and Nelson’s house after playing games earlier with the kids and my ankle folded right under me. I landed on the deck. I could see Mom coming for me I told her to stay back and I could hear Liz coming from the kitchen. I think some of the other guys (Cheryl’s family) tried to help me up and take me to the chair. We put some ice on it and them we ate. Rich waited on me and several others came by and asked how I was. Both Cheryl and Nelson both said “shit happens. We got to the hospital around 3 and waited our turn and then got into the triage. After awhile we got into a room and I was x-rayed and found out to be sprained. Liz came by and waited with us until I released. It was nearly 7 when we got home. I planted myself in the blue room bed and watched the rest of the NCIS marathon and got a piece of pie. Mom was in her pajamas and checked her messages. Bob called and invited us to go ove...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Wow when I was younger and heard about the future it was pretty exciting. 2010 was to be a lot of stuff. Robotic houses, flying cars, transporter type stuff. Well we still have cars driving on the pavement (asphalt) not flying. We have a lot of diseases and for some no cures. The Era of Robotics is still in its infancy. What will the next decade bring us? Last night the news programs took a look back at all the events that occurred since the 21st century began. The wars, the terrorist plots (the most heartfelt obviously was 9/11), the people (newsmakers, influential) we lost. The scams that took place (the banking debacle.) New Years Eve was fairly quiet for Mom and me. I was either on line or watching TV. I watched NCIS on ION at 9 but started falling sleep by 10. As Midnight arrived I could hear fireworks in the distance (somewhere in West Haven). I went down and wished Mom a Happy New Year and saw the last few minutes of DC New Year’s Rockn’ Eve. Man he...

Christmas is almost here

Well there is a day until Christmas Eve. Most of the gifts that I have bought are wrapped (except for the coffee for Bob that arrived Monday). I still have to get Audrey and Jason’s gift wrapped and add candy to it. Mom feels that they have enough toys they don’t need anymore. I have to get the cards ready for those who are getting money and gift certificates. I have to get cards out to my 4th District Committee and the Woman’s Club. Today is our Holiday Breakfast at work. Marianne and the Administration gives it to us every year. It is the usual breakfast fare. In the past we were able to sit and socialize but many don’t and so we end up going back to our desks and eating there and do our work. There will be many who have already left for the holiday and won’t be returning until the recess is over. The recess starts tomorrow and finishes up on January 1, 2010. I will be working every day except of course Christmas Day and New Years Day. We return on January 4 2010. While I...
