A beautiful Morning

This morning was sunny and chilly.  There was no snow when I got up either.  I knew there wouldn’t be.  There won’t be any snow this weekend.  I am kind of glad because I had errands to run and the gift delivery.

I Found out my hairstylist is going to be a Mommy in May!  She was going to tell me the last time but she wasn’t showing then as she was today.  I am so happy for her.  The next time I see her she really will be pregnant.  That’s going to be in late January.

AFter the hair appointment I stopped at Adams and picked up a new mop.  While I was there I ran into Pam.  We talked for a short time.  She still has the cold I mentioned a few days ago.  Apparently it goes back and forth between them.  I came home and relaxed for a few minutes and then vacuumed the kitchen and Bathroom.  I then washed the bathroom floor.  I had to get on my knees and that hurt and frustrated me.  I also was having problems with the door to the laundry closet.

For some reason when you tighten the screws on the door knob it doesn’t allow the doorknob to turn (as if it is locked) now I was getting aggravated by this because I had a short time to get ready for the gift delivery.  So its is a little loose and I don’t close it all the way.  i really hate that door.

I called Liz and Nelson as I was getting ready to head to the Nursing home.  Liz was sleeping but would be getting up and getting ready to go out for KOC activity tonight.  I asked Nelson how last night’s went and he said it was great.  I also asked him what candle scents she likes...He wasn’t that helpful...so I am on my own for that one.

The gift delivery went very well.  Joanne was there today.  She was insisting that we start at 2 and Telka was a little annoyed by that.  But as the time grew closer we were able to start before 2.  The whole thing took about an hour and we still had many left over.  Nicole and Jacqueline and Santa came.

After we left I headed to the store and got some dinner.  I was all set to get chop meat to put into beef patties.  instead I found packaged of four.  I also got some sliced cheese and string cheese.  I had one pattie and the others are still in the package with aluminum foil wrapped up on top.  It should be okay.  I didn’t feel like having two tonight.  I am eating cheese and some pickles.

My shoulder started hurting earlier tonight I am not sure I want to do too much tonight but the pain can be shooting and then goes away for bit.  I have taken the meds..I might do a couple cards before it gets too late.
I had wondered if Jim had gotten home yet and so I sent him a text message and he was still in PR.  His flight wasn’t for another hour.  He sent me a picture of a wild horse galloping along side of his car today.  it was beautiful.

I got  a very cute Christmas card from the Mayor and his family today.  THey had a picture of their children including their youngest T who was born three months ago.  I will be sending a card to them soon.

Well I have some dishes to put away and straighten the kitchen a bit so I am going to go...

Have a great night.

Dear Friends

December 8, 2013

Dear Friends:

It has been a long day and the pups spent a big chunk of it alone today so I have to make it quick.

We started waking up around 5 but stayed in bed until 7 or 8.  I showered dressed and got the pups out for their morning walk.  It wasn’t bad out then but it looked like it would be cold and cloudy and start snowing soon..  While I was getting ready I had the Law & Order marathon (mothership) on and left around 9.  I was starting another headache but managed to get something in my stomach.

When I got to the nursing home I saw BoBM.  He was the Staff member on duty.  We talked about the holidays, the impending weather, and today’s activities.  We eventually got ready for bingo and ended up with a really full house.  Twenty one players and I think a few of them were being difficult but I think it was my headache that was making me annoyed more.  We finished early as it was St Peters Church eucharist service.  This allowed me to go to church on time.

I got to the church early and found it very crowed.  I would later find out that the school was having a “holiday bazaar breakfast” in the school.  When I got into the vestibule I sat down and started to fall asleep-several times.  I couldn’t wait to get home.

After mass I came back to the pups and relaxed with them.  Preston was very cuddly and I suspect he knew I had a headache. I told him I was fine.  When it got closer to 1 I started getting ready. i had to check my phone as there were messages from both Telka, and Roberta.  I called Roberta back and she was fine (she got to the nursing home too early).  We chatted for a few minutes and then I left for the nursing home.

I got to the nursing home by 1:20.  I could see Telka was there getting set up.  The girls came as I was asking BobM to move a podium.  We started getting residents and got the show going before 2.  It was a good show.  We had many residents probably about 40.  We were finished by 2:30 and Telka and Roberta wanted to do the wreath thing.   I told Roberta how the holiday was and then we all left.

I think it was around 3:30-4 when I got to the house.  The snow hadn’t started yet and I was relieved..  Mom was on the phone with Jim and I checked emails and got lunch/supper.  The spaghetti we had about a week ago.  I talked with Mom for a bit.

Mom felt pretty good.  She had a good sleep and today did some shopping and was debating with herself about going back out.  I think she decided not to.  I told her I would be home some time tomorrow night after I have fed and walked the dogs.  As much as I would like to be here when Nancy and Pat get home I want to be in my own bed..

I think I will go and the L&O SVU marathon..  I need to get to bed early to make sure I am up early enough to walk the dogs and make sure the bed is made for them when they get home tomorrow night.

Have a great one.

Dear Friends

September 21, 2013

Dear Friends:

Wow had a great sleep from 10:30 on last night.  I got up only a few times and Preston did sleep in the bed right next to me.  As daylight approached I could hear Packy (the other dog) walk around and was a little nervous he left packages.  Happily I didn’t see them when I got up to check emails.

This morning was a fairly busy morning.  I had to get the dogs up and walked before I left to feed Junior and head back to the house to get my phone and then head back to town to help sell the bracelets until 12:30.  The rest of the day was going to be quiet.

I had gotten an email from Dr. T reminding me about the bracelet selling activity last night.  She wanted make sure she wasn’t the only one doing it.  I don’t blame her.  She has a lot to do.  She is a teacher in Waterbury and has all classes to prepare for, papers to grade, etc.  We don’t have anything more this month.  We do have stuff next month though.

I heard from Chairman Phil this morning.  He approved the August minutes and so when I got home I sent them out.  I told him I would be working on this months and send them out Sunday (pending his approval).

Dave is home!  Yep my friend Dave returned from his two week cruise in Europe on Wednesday.  He sent me a reply to an email I sent earlier this week.  In it I had asked if we would be making our annual trip to The Big E this year and unfortunately we will not be.  He has a number of trips he needs to take as Flight attendant for Jetblue before the end of the  month.

I went and checked on the cat this morning and she is fine.  I have a feeling Mama R and Papa M came home from work after I stopped in and left last night.  Everything that was around or out was put away and the kitty box was moved where I could see it.  I didn’t give her any food as it looked like it was pretty much all fresh.

I headed over to Mom’s before 10.  She was getting ready for a shower.  She suggested I get the blinds off my windows and get them washed.  Well that led to a 10 minute aggravation.  then she griped about putting something away wrong. Her voice was raising ot me and she didn’t have to raise her voice to me.  She is frustrated.  Well too bad.  so after a while I helped with other things but she was still giving me snip answers.  This to me means she is starting to get anxious about next week.

I was the first to arrive at the store.  I thought for sure Dr. T would be there first.  She arrived shortly after I did.  We were the only two there today.  Apparently some of the girls backed out or haven’t said one way or another.    Its the same issue they made a commitment to help and they didn’t follow through.  It doesn’t matter if they are kids.  My hope is it will be discussed yet again with the girls.

I do have another full day tomorrow.  I am meeting Greta S back at the house to drive her around for walking.  As a candidate for the Aldermanic board she will be going around talking to her constituents and convincing them to re-elect her. She has done a great job as an Alderman.

When I get home tomorrow night I have to do laundry and make sure things are in order for the week.  I don’t want to do it last minute.

Well I have a few more things to do this afternoon so I am going to go do them..have a great one.

Something Weird

I got a message sometime today from My cousin Jeremy through twitter saying someone posted a nasty blog about me.  I signed out to twitter saw the message and tried to access the link but was knocked out of twitter and had to confirm the log on.  So I went to the facebook and sent a message to Jeremy asking if he sent me one through twitter.  I don’t feel comfortable clicking on the link if screws this up.  This being the computer.  I tried doing a search but couldn’t find anything under any of my usernames to the sites.

I heard from Jeremy and he says yes he has one but doesn’t use it.  So I told him it might have been hacked.  A few seconds later he sent me another one saying it was hacked.  I am really glad that i checked it out.

I got to the nursing home after 9:30.  I kept procrastinating this morning from getting up and doing some chores, to getting ready for bingo.  Somehow I managed to start bingo on time and finish on time.  However, I didn’t leave the facility on time.  I cleaned up from Bingo and chatted with Claudia.  I was late for mass.

When I miss the readings sometimes I try and read the readings of the day.  Sometimes its better to see from the homily what was being said but It also helps me to get back into reading the bible.  I go through periods in which I try to read and then even longer periods where I don’t.

The weather changed for part of the day.  it was sunny for most of the morning and early afternoon and then at some point the clouds rolled in.  It is in the mid 70’s and I think humid. I put the ceiling fan because it got stuffy in the room.  WHen i got back from the meeting it was sprinkling for a very short time.

Mom  got back from a wake for the parent of a Bridges Colleague around 6.  She left a little after 4 when she got back from the store. I was getting concerned because I didn’t know what we were going to do about dinner.  She made me a fish filet sandwich.

I was late for the meeting so I quickly sat down and started writing.  We discussed the budget, the summer activities and the fall activities, and of course the officers responsibilities and duties.  I did sign up for hosting a couple of meetings in the winter/spring time for 2014.

Now that I am home for the night its time for me to take the Alka-seltzer plus med because I am still fighting something.  My throat was irritated earlier today and now the sniffles.

Eventful Friday

As I was sitting at work yesterday working on  the mail my thoughts were drifting to Macungie where my nephew was sitting through his graduation ceremonies.  I wondered if they were indoors because of the rain.  It was pretty likely that was the case there are venues that big for it.  I was having flashbacks to the day I met him.  He was just two when Jim and Claudia brought him home and he had a limp for a while.  He was shy at first but by the fourth time I saw him I think we grew close.  Over the years I watched him grow he was a smart young man.  Any time they came for a visit he always helped Mom make breakfast.  As he got older he didn’t do it as much.   As he got older and his parents divorced he spent a lot of time with his father.  He also had his friends and his sports but he made sure he spent time with Jim.  That might change now that he will be attending Blair Academy in the fall.  I spoke to Jim before leaving the office yesterday and he said it went well.

When I got home Andrea was creating havoc along the east coast and we were concerned that the awards banquet would suffer from it.   It didn’t.  There were were a lot of people there despite the weather.  Some say it was because they wanted to be there for Mom.  All the award honorees were there and all congratulated and commented on Mom.  I thought the food was good but others were not so happy with it.  We didn’t leave the event until 11 or 11:30.  It was still raining but no flooding and I drove us home.  I was glad that Ethel and Diane and Rogier were there (even though they were late).

Today was a fairly quiet.  The weather was completely different from yesterday the sun was out bright and early but not extremely hot.  Mom stayed in bed until 10 and I did some laundry when she got up (actually we are still trying to get some spots out of the new blouse I wore last night).

I got my hair cut and spent the rest of the time doing some cleaning (Mom sort of asked me not spend the entire day watching TV so I didn’t).  I did spend time on the computer but I also did some sleeping.

Jim called this morning with news that Kristina would be graduating with her class tomorrow after passing a science test that she took to bring up her grade.  AT first Mom asked if they wanted us to join them tomorrow but JIm said no that Claudia would like us to come another time for a celebration.  I was glad because I knew I couldn’t just drop everything at the last minute and go and there was also no way I was going to do a round trip in one day.   Mom said she would drop everything if asked.

Liz and Nelson came home today from their trip to Cape May.  They had contacted me via text very early this morning asking about the awards dinner and so as I was getting ready for my hair appointment I wrote as much as i could.  When I finished the hair appointment I called her and they were still in NJ  I told her about the awards dinner and the news about Kristina (and after I did I was not so sure I did).

Late this afternoon Liz came over with stones she had found on the pristine beaches and many stories of their trip.  She also asked about the awards dinner and mentioned about Kristina.  Mom answered her and I was relieved Mom hasn’t asked me about it.  She stayed for about an hour and we had coffee (but not our dinner).  We also talked about the upcoming family reunion and who would be attending.  All in all the visit was great.

After Liz left we had a late dinner.  It was rice and beef Mom and i started preparing it earlier but when Liz called we had to put it on hold.  The steak was from Mom’s dinner and even though it was mixed in the rice it was a little dry.

We have ants.  We have had them for the last several days  but Mom finally put the ant poison out and now they are hopefully taking it back to wherever their nest is.  They have been in the pantry closet along the walls.  They have been crawling on the counter nearest the refrigerator.  I had to put away the cake Mom had out into the refrigerator.  I am thinking it will be a couple of days and then we won’t have them.  I am pretty sure I don’t want any of the food in that pantry.

OKay it's getting late now.  I am going to bed (if the coffee I had tonight doesn’t keep me awake).  I am planning on getting my summer clothes out and putting my winter clothes away before I go to the board meeting tomorrow.

The Weekend is going by fast

I can’t believe it is Saturday night.  Today went by awfully quick.  It all started around 6 when I got out of bed and did some surfing on the net.  I spent the morning doing laundry and then around noon time I got ready for the fashion show.

We met a little after 1 at Carriage Green Assisted Living complex.  Dr. T was already in her first costume and she looked great.  Eventually the rest of the girls arrived and we set up.  The administrator helped set up the chairs while we got instructions and made some changes to the script.  My sole job was to make sure the girls were ready and to cue the MC.  We started at 2 pm and we were finished by 2:30.  Afterwards we had refreshments including ice cream...woohoo.  Overall we had a huge success and we probably will be doing more things for this place.  This might mean we will no longer be doing activities for WRHH.

Sadly some of the girls chose not to participate because they were not prepared and had backed out because of sports activities that suddenly popped up.   WHen it was discovered said sports activity was cancelled the girls never came back and said oh we are going to do it.  They chose not to help out and quite frankly I have lost a little respect for them.  This isn’t the first time the girls have shirked their responsibilities.  I realize they have an active teenage life but they made commitments to the club and they need to honor it.  It is one of my pet peeves.

The weather was meh.  It was not a very sunny day and even though the temperatures were in the 70’s at one point it got really chilly.  I couldn’t get warm for most of the afternoon after the fashion show.  There is a possibility of some rain overnight  Tomorrow is supposed to be a rainy afternoon.

Connecticut made national news again.  This time there was a train crash in Bridgeport CT.  Six People were taken to the surround hospitals.  It happened Last night around 10.  Prayers go out to injured and to those first responders.

Mom tells me Ethel stopped by and was trying to get to NY.  Unfortunately becuase of the train crash investigation she couldn’t go.  She was trying to get to Diane.  Apparently Diane sprained her ankle in the last day or two and was at the hospital.  Diane has had a couple of performances today and tomorrow and I don’t know if she will be able to attend.

Mom had a low key day.  She got sick very early in the morning and stayed in bed until 9 am.  She did go church and to the store but other than that nothing.  Tomorrow we are going to a poetry reading in Madison at the Mercy Center.  I haven’t been there in years.  It is quite lovely.

The work has begun

As promised the work on the phase 2 of the sewer project has begun.  Several trucks and men were outside at 7:30 this morning preparing to start working.  I saw huge pipes being offloaded from a dump truck where the pump station is being built.  I am not sure what else happened.  When I came home it was all cleaned up for the day.  I noticed a portable toilet outside (the spell check and grammar check isn’t cooperating) when I got home.

I had a great day at work.  I was busy from the time I got there until I left after 6 tonight.  I expect the same all week.  Actually I am expecting the volume to be a little heavier tomorrow than normal.   I hope to do OT for most of the week.  I won’t be able to Thursday or Friday.  I am hoping for the weekend though.  I have to check my weekend plans before I commit.

I called the Dermatologist today and asked them to renew my metro gel prescription.  They took the information and said they would order it.  I was rather surprised that they didn’t ask me to come in for a visit but it wasn’t necessary.  I did get an email alert informing me that it wasn’t in stock but would be by tomorrow.

I called Beth El shelter today to arrange the “after dinner activities”.  The woman I spoke to had to call me back later to get more info.  She did say that story time would be fine but not the Egg hunt and they recommended that we do it in the soup kitchen and announce it while they were eating.  I sent an email to the officers of the woman’s club to update them.  I just got off the phone w/Telka she is questioning why after all this time we can’t go in the back where the residents are and do the activities (such as story reading).  We have been doing it all the time before and had no problems.

Another issue we seem to be having is the girls in the club are not responding to requests to volunteer or sign up for activities.  Some say they are going to do something and either don’t show up or back out at the last minute.  I talked with Roberta about both situations and we seem to agree that this is the new procedure for the shelter and we have to honor it.  As for the girls signing up and not fulfilling their responsibilities they need to be spoken to about it.

I picked up the Xarelto this evening after work.  The pharmacy is still waiting to hear from Dr. Becker about the plaquenil and of course the metro gel will be ready tomorrow.

Dinner was delicious leftovers from last night.  The roast beast was delicious. I had the creamed onions, peas (not part of last yesterday’s meal), mashed potatoes, the artichoke and spinach dish that mom had.  It was super.  No dessert for me tonight.

The weather today got really cold and windy.  It apparently rained for awhile in New Haven and a little here in Milford.  It was in the high 50’s in both places.  It was a little too cold for me and it still is now.  It is supposed to get warmer by the end of the week.  Yay.

It is getting late and I want to get to work early tomorrow if I can.  Have a great night everyone…..

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
