Triple Birthday party

It is a cool beautiful morning. I have been up nearly just over an hour and I am so well rested I think. I have already paid the rest of the bills due this month and had breakfast and started laundry. I need to get my eyeglasses fixed (or perhaps get a new pair) because they are so bent and really scratched.

Mom is downstairs shampooing the rugs and the runner that will be in the hallway upstairs. Then she is going to wax the floors downstairs. Then I am not sure what she has planned until we leave for the triple birthday party

The Triple birthday party is at Cheryl and Mike’s house and is for their 17 year-old son, and her father, and their Sister in Law Lisa. They will have lots of food, and drink, and probably what ever sports team is playing today on the tube. The best part is I get to see Jason and Audrey swim. Well at least Jason is swimming I am not so sure about Audrey yet. She didn’t last year. Mom and I will probably get there by three. As you may remember she doesn’t like being the first to arrive at any party. We usually get lost on the way to her house. I am hoping she will use the damn GPS.

I am going to catch up on my journaling buddies entries and see what’s happening with them. I then will post this entry as well. Oh and there is a discussion on one of the journaling lists about Tylenol. I mentioned on my lupus blog (the entry won’t be posted until 11 tonight so I can’t link it right now). I am trying to clear out the emails too for the journal list as well.

I guess the other discussions are the “Notebooks” that some people use when they are away from their PCs and other laptops. Some are finding the notepads hard to manage and are finding ways to compensate for them.

I just read an interesting blog entry on Social Security from my friends at Connecticut Bob. It is very scary what could happen. Being at my age of 48 in two weeks what will happen when I need it? These are one of the subjects I just don’t know enough about.

Oh I just started following a new blog today and they are CT Scenic. I guess they are a blog that talks about everything going on in Connecticut whether it is news, entertainment, politics, and from all over I guess. They have been blogging since 2009. One I am now following.

I also just watched a video I got from reading ORCINUS ORCA COLLECTIVE: talking about how a pod of orcas followed a Mink whale off of Newfoundland. The video was amateurish at best (something I have a slight problem with) because it was distracting a little. But it was a really cool video to watch the pod go after this whale. I never knew this type of whale existed.

Uh you are probably wondering what a Minke Whale is and so from Enature.com is very intense and scientific description of a Minke Whale. Why couldn’t this be in plain English? Actually once I read it was quite clear. This is a site I will visit more often.

Okay well it is nearly 11 in the morning so I am going to close out for now and will do some more reading and then get ready for the picnic. See you all later.

Didn't feel so good today

Man today was a long day. I started the day with a small headache from the back of my head and then it progressed to the front. I mentioned this in my Kate's Journey with Lupus: Headaches entry.

The mail volume was heavy but I will finish it in the morning. I was also distracted by a birthday party for A Lopez. There is some back story to that as well. I walked in with her this morning and she seemed as though she was slightly put out that no one remembered her birthday yesterday. Well I had known (and possibly gave it away) that Niamba was going to do something for her. Later when I told Evette about it she was upset and explained that Arcenia asked that nothing be done for her. Now I know Arcenia has been like this for years. There was an argument between the ladies and as a result Arcenia moved her seat.

When I left for the day it was a little after 4. The aches and pains subsided for a bit but they would come back later after I had taken down the curtains and washed the windows. I didn’t feel like eating dinner so Mom ate by herself. I am eating yogurt right now.

I found out that the 4th District has been cancelled for Thursday. I sent out an email to let everyone know about. Mom said the email I sent out this morning was very good. I have to remember that for the next time. I don’t know if we are going to have a 4th at all this month because the following week the chairman will be out of town I think. The regular DTC meeting is the following week.

I am going to bed. I am tired and the knees are bothering me right now.

How I managed

I don’t know how I managed to get up late and still get to work on time but I did. I got up at quarter of seven showered and dressed and got online and still left before 7:30. I think it had to do with the volume of traffic as well.

The work day went very well despite some early morning power failure. I guess it started last night when the entire network went down. Later on I find out there was flooding from another floor. The hospital floors were in complete darkness. Our network came back on by 9. I got everything done by 2 and managed to clean my desk and help Liz purge some files. The volume of the mail for today was light but I still had to finish yesterdays and that went very well.

Donna C came back to work today and I stopped by to convey my sympathies. I think many did it and I hope I didn’t make it worse. I told her if she wanted to talk to come see me.

After work I went to my appointment with Dr Martin. It was pretty quick and by 5:00 I was on my way home. It was starting to sleet but it didn’t really have any impact. Damn. I just realized I was going to move the cars around so that Mom’s would be in the driveway behind mine. I haven’t done it.

Mom seemed jumpy when I came in. She was making me feel edgy but it worked out. She annoyed me when we talked about Lupus support groups. She couldn’t believe when I said the only Lupus support groups were in Hartford. She is right there is one at 6:30 pm third Thursday of the month. It conflicts with the DTC. I might set up the lupus journal the way I usually do this journal.

Well it is getting late and I am getting tired.

Many Thoughts

I have so much going through my head right now. I did not get a chance to write at all while at work. Although I found time to get online a few times. I left here a little after 7:15. Mom was just getting up and having coffee and about to get ready fro her meeting at Bridges.

The drive in wasn’t bad at all. Well maybe when I was pulling into the parking spot. One car was coming at me and didn’t look like he was going to stop. Thankfully he did. I kvetched about it to someone.

I got to the office a little before 8 and managed to pick up the mail from Customer Service and Registration. I even took some to Registration. The day went pretty well. I started off with the charts and there were like 32 (I counted them) MR. Mike from Gofor had to bring them in two totes (the long ones that look the chests you bring to college. I sorted them and delivered them. While I was sorting Arcenia brought me the lockbox for today. It wasn’t bad but would have to until I did yesterday’s post office mail.

Once I had the charts delivered I started the rest of the mail. It didn’t take long and so I was able to finish lockbox before post office mail came. From time to time I delivered the mail to customer service and Susan and Sally. I also was doing the labels for the personal mail.

At one point I was talking with Jocelyn and we talked about food. She gave me strudel (the frozen ones from Pillsbury) and some mini wheat box. It just about that time we decided to get wings from a Chinese place and some rice. I also got finagled into loaning Jocelyn $25. $5 for today’s mail and I have no idea for the $20. All morning I was feeling a little awkward and nervous. I didn’t want to be mean but neither did I want to give that much. Now is done with. I gave it to her. I just hope she doesn’t make a habit of it.

At lunch time I went to the bank. As I was walking near City Hall I was crossing the street and this woman came barreling down the street and almost didn’t stop. She slowed down when I didn’t move and looked right at her and yelled slow down. She did for about 30 seconds. I walked to the other side and she almost hit someone else. I swear there was a full moon because I watched woman cop give a state employee a hard time about parking in front of the city hall.

I got to the bank a short time later. I told the teller what had transpired earlier and they were shocked or disgusted I really couldn’t tell. I got the money and headed back to the office.

I made it back to the office by 12:30 I can’t remember if I was still working on opening the mail or starting on the chart request. The food came around 10 of 1. I had wings and fried rice, soda and later on got two more. I gave Jocelyn hers. She would it eat later.

I also took the opportunity to pay Michelle S my contribution to the group gift for Patti and Susan. I couldn’t pay for the candy IOU to Carol so I can do that tomorrow. I got a couple more soda’s that probably contributed to my feeling hyper this afternoon.

I worked on the individual personal mail and made more labels. I took care of the bad addresses and delivered the last of the interoffice mail.

At one point I found myself asking Patti if she has had any complaints or problems with the way I have been doing the mail. The reason I did this is all the managers and team leaders were at a staff meeting. Sometimes I get a little worried. Pattie reassured me that everything is fine and if it wasn’t I would know about it. That’s very true. I think it was because I was feeling a little hyper and sensitive.

I managed to make a few phone calls today. One of them was to Mom and the other to Liz and Nelson. Mom had just come home from her meeting and she told me it went well. She also was driving along New Haven Avenue and a doe crossed the street in front of her. I started to sing the song from Sound of Music (the scales). When I called Liz and Nelson’s house Nelson answer the phone. It was close to lunch time and Liz was still asleep. I explained the reason for my call (the question about where does everyone get their gas from) and he said anywhere.

When I left the office it was 4 on the dot. I got to the car ten minutes later and drove home. The sun was setting in the west and traffic was heavy but moving along I-95. I got home by 4:30 I think.

I checked my mail and noticed dinner was cooking. Mom was upstairs on the phone. I decided to go and watched Charmed. It was the 1st season finale where Ted King ended his run on the show. After a while and once I thought Mom was off the phone I went looking for her only to find she was still on.

She came down around 5. Checked the dinner and started cooking potatoes. We talked about whom she was talking with and some good news. She called Union plus and got info about the finance charge and then told them about mine they looked into it and I was given the finance charge in error they will be refunding me the .50 It was just about then the phone rung. It was Liz.

The conversation lasted about 10 minutes. She gave a list of the places for the gas cards. Either Mobil or Shell would be the places to go. She suggested Dicks Sporting Goods for young Brian. She thought that a gas card for Mike Junior would be wise as well.

While dinner was cooking I emptied the garbage and put out the recyclable stuff. It didn’t take long but I wanted to get it out early. I wasn’t sure if it was going to rain or not. I also managed to get some stuff out of the car too.

Dinner was great. Mom and I talked about her conversation with Judge Beverly. Mom says she will be making an appointment to see Beverly and then arrange one for us to go together. I asked what did she want to see come from this meeting. She does have some concerns that I wouldn’t be able to live here. If that were the case then she would like to see me in an apartment of the same value. I told her I think I would be able to because in the last several months I have been following through with my own bills. She also said that at one time she wanted all the kids involved but not now. She says Beverly would be in charge of it all.

Since dinner finished I have been trying to write this and watch TV and surf the net. No big news. No messages from people I have emailed. I did hear from Mary G last night. She also recommended that I don’t send/get a gift for Patrick that there is an urgency to get Dave moved out. She also sent a joke about Math...

Now that I have the Christmas gift list updated I can probably start the shopping next week sometime. I would prefer to do it when I get my paycheck next week. I might be able to get Patti’s gift and the gift swap. I probably should start the Christmas Card list. I will think about it later.

A nice Sunday

Good Morning! It is after 8:30 and there is a light rain coming down outside. I am doing some ironing before I go to the nursing home. Mom is downstairs reading her paper. I had a pretty good sleep. I had some really weird dreams and one of them had to do with the Charmed TV show. I can’t remember it all but it was weird.

Well it is after 12:30 and I have been home an hour. I started reading the article that I mentioned here and updated that journal. I will probably write some more letters and straighten up the room. I did catch some TV watching. The Steve Martin Movie Cheaper by the Dozen is on.

I helped Mom with some of the weeding. I wasn’t out there long. I might be going out there again later. Right now it went from partly cloudy back to cloudy and 68 degrees.

In the last couple of hours it’s been fairly quiet. Mom has been hanging around and we had a visit from Representative Dick Roy. He was handing out flyers for the Annual Woodmont Day Event that’s next month. As I was trying to say hi to him Mom was talking to me and I told her Dick was outside. So for half an hour they were talking about the recent events at the State Capital.

I made a little visit to Sylvia and Boppie today. Sylvia was pruning her garden while Boppie was just standing around. I had been teasing Sylvia because she attempted to trim the dog’s nails yesterday. She will never learn. Anyway, the teasing stopped right after she told me she hit a dear last night on the way home from her son’s house in Waterbury. There was minimal damage to the car but Sylvia was really upset about it. I sat with Boppie for a bit and held him and he sat under my legs for a bit. Then I took him for a walk. I had asked Sylvia for a bag. She tells me he won’t need it he already went. Well he went again in front of Vinci’s house. Needless to say she had to walk down and pick it up.

Mom is cutting up fruit right now, but she has been doing a bunch of stuff. She is going to make spaghetti for dinner. It was my suggestion since the chicken she was going to make was still frozen. So she will make it tomorrow.

It is now after 8 and I am just looking through the recipes folder on the g-mail account. One of the emails was from Tammy C Milonas who is in the editing stages of a cookbook. She says also that she is accepting contributions from members of the groups. I am not going to do that because well I haven’t cooked in awhile.

After dinner I went for a 45 minute walk. It was inspired by the health segment on channel thirteen tonight. I left from the house went up (or down depending on your point of view) Anderson Avenue then turned on to Merwin Avenue and the turned on to New Haven Avenue and walked up the hill and then back down to the house.

After I got home I got into my pajamas and watched a little TV and moved around some emails (the cooking ones). I also checked the outlook express and Jennie sent me the pictures from the beach. I have added one to my facebook I will add more to here.

Well I am going to update my lupus Journal and then update my birthday list and then hit the sack.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
