Still Humid

I was still feeling the humidity when the rain finally started.  The clouds may have started rolling in by 1 but it didn’t really start until 3.  It came down hard for ten minutes and it looks like its misting out.  The thunder is periodically coming through.  The rain dried up quickly.  Oops it’s raining again.

I really have mixed feelings about the WWF’s 1&2 but I was trying very hard and after every time I finished a round ads or promotions of other types of games.  It was so damn frustrating even after the suggestions Jim (brother) gave me.  OF course just did a few and did okay…was a little more tolerant of the ads.

By six hadn’t moved from the Livingroom much.  Fed the cats just a little before 5 and had to call them down.  That was a first in a long time.  Maybe they sensed my agitation early.  I was quite vocal.  They must be upstairs again.  I just checked and Tiger is under the dining room table.   Sky I have feeling is in one of two places under my bed (again) in the closet.  I left it open and he is probably sitting inside.

IT looks like SyFY channel is having a Star trek night with Wrath of khan, and Star Trek III. It starts at 8 and I will stay up for that and probably miss my Friday night Radio program.  Right now I am watching 70’s TV opening credits.  Of course I have an Entertainment Blog for all this.

It looks like the neighbors across the street have a guest for the weekend.  It’s their daughter’s boyfriend.  He lives in New Jersey.  He was going to be working as a lifeguard this summer here but things got turned around with this Pandemic and relationships.  He went home mid-June.

I heard from my sister she was sort of working in her yard before it started raining. She hasn’t gone far since the pandemic started.

Now the movies are on so good night.

Dear Friends

November 24, 2013

Dear Friends:

Our furnace stopped working late this afternoon.  Mom noticed how cold it got after I came home from going to the store for a few things.  We  didn’t think anything of it except find an electric heater for the back room.  We couldn’t find it.  Mom  decided to check the  furnace.  Happily the repairman is here to  repair it.  I can hear Mom talking to someone.  I guess the computer board on the furnace burned out.

Apparently Mom told T M and she  made arrangements for another DTC member come over with a room heater.   He just arrived and probably just left.  It was really very nice of her to do this.  TM just called us to for an update.

I am almost done with the laundry.  I really don’t want to do anymore right now but I won’t be  able to do any while the family is here.  I might finish it tomorrow night if at all possible.

I finished the letters to the kids and they have been sent out.  I have other letters I need to answer as well.  I don’t know if I can stay up for it.   I may just hop into bed under the covers.  I have the fleece sheets on tonight.

There are  lot of great holiday movies on (and as I suspected t he Caribbean movies were on.  At least one of them was).  The Wizard of Oz will be on  and a few other regular holiday movies.

Well it sounds like the repair guy is leaving.  I better go see what the damage is.

See ya tomorrow.

Not going to be a quiet Weekend

This weekend will not be a quiet weekend at all. I am not just talking activity wise but weather wise. As I said yesterday I have made plans to support the union members of 1199 at HealthBridge West River Healthcare Nursing Home. I will be walking a long side them as Local 34 member as many of my co-workers through out Yale have done since it started on Tuesday. I will also be walking there as a member of the Democratic Town Committee from Milford. They may have to prop me up with a board or something because I woke up around 2:30 from a very weird dream.

I dreamt I was in a world were people were Ghosts. The only cinematic reference I could associate it with is the movie with Nicole Kidman. The people around me I didn’t recognize but I had an opportunity to live again and I guess I took it. I still didn’t recognize anyone in the dream but just as I was becoming alive in the dream I was actually waking up.

We are supposed to get some isolated thunderstorms late in the afternoon. It is also supposed to be cloudy and hot (naturally). Sunday is expected to be sunny and hot and Sunday night cloudy. Sunday activity wise will be my regular morning activity unless I heard from NatalieM. In the afternoon I am hoping to finish clearing out stuff in my desk and supply holder. Then work on the files on the computer.

You know with all this getting organized it got me to thinking and being slightly disappointed that it has taken me this long (nearly 50 years) to get my life organized. I had some doubts if I would be able to do things in the future financially. A whole bunch of ‘what-if’s’ were rolling around my head. What if I wanted to go on trips and couldn’t do it. What if I had a large amount of debt and couldn’t pay it off.

I am going to go back to sleep for an hour or so. I set the alarm for 4 am to do laundry and other such things so I can be on the picket line by 6:30. It should be fun if not long.

Okay got to go…

We have no heat this morning

We have no heat this morning. Mom noticed the thermostat was reading 50 degrees and so she went into the cellar to restart it and it would not go on. So she has a call into the repair guy and they will be here sometime this morning. Mom has been reluctant to put the furnace on but last night and this morning was cold. I have two sweat shirts on and one pair of sweat pants and two slipper socks and a pair of slippers. I am comfortable for now.

Mom told me last night that her brother Ray is not doing well. He was in a nursing home for a few days from that surgery he had this summer and apparently had an infection and is back in the hospital.

This computer is extremely slow and I hope I haven’t done anything to it. I had to turn it off at the tower at least a few times. I had changed the desk top to a picture of Rich and I am wondering if the pictures may have had a virus?

Well it has been several hours now and the computer is working just fine. I guess I was growing impatient and a little frantic for no reason. I am able to move around from site to site and the documents.

I just did a search for Taal Volcano and it incredible. I had gotten a card from one of my pen pals as a thank you for helping out with her group. I am going to read more about it later but the pictures are beautiful.

I got the second insurance check from One Beacon for $1,246. Mom suggested I find out about the cost of the rental. I need to see if this money goes to cover the rental as well as the repairs to the Honda. I did call Ed and left a message for him.

The furnace repairman hasn’t come here yet even though he called shortly after Mom called the answering service this morning. Oh they called looking for directions. Mom’s giving it to them now.

Mom is going out to dinner with her friend Martha. It’s their standing date every Saturday. I am probably going to have the pot roast for dinner or the rice ad chicken. I did see spaghetti in there but I think its way too much for me to eat.

Whoohoo~ we got heat about 4:30 or so. The house is comfortable. Although I think I will stay with the extra clothes on anyway….

Well I am going to go do some paperwork in the files and see what or how much I can get done...

June 8, 2008

Good Sunday Morning to you all. It is after 8 and I am just about to get ready for bingo and church. I have a few things to do today including a board meeting for the woman’s club tonight.

Yesterday was a fairly quiet and warm day. It got into the mid 80’s. Mom and I put the fans in the windows and I put the screen in the front door. It was a bit hard at first but I managed to get it done. The rest of the time I was either on line or watching TV.

I got a letter from my pen pal Jeanne in MA yesterday and she is doing well. I will be writing her very soon. Along with everyone else I hope.

My cousin Joe never showed up yesterday and Mom doesn’t know if he will come today or not. To be honest I think this is kind of rude. When you ask someone if you can stay at their home for a night or a few days you should either show up or call and say I am sorry but we also got an invitation to stay at ‘x, y or z.’

That’s like at holiday time. When you are invited to a person’s home for a meal you stay for the entire meal and not hop up and go to someone else’s home. I remember when Nanny pulled that one year. Uncle Lee told her no. This is where you are having your meal

It is now several hours later. I went and did bingo and went to church. When I got home there was an invitation to go to the movies with David. We went to the 2 pm show of Indiana Jones. It was pretty good. I recognized a lot of the Yale Campus. It was nearly 4:30 when we got out and it started clouding up and thundering and lightening and it got very windy. The storm lasted about 45 minutes. I rushed into the house and the rain was coming in almost all the windows. Now there are a few minor rumblings.

IN about an hour Roberta will pick up me up for the meeting and then the meeting will commence. Telka had invited us to go swimming but I think that changed now with this rain storm.

Right now though I am going to take a quick bath and then get dressed again. Mom is downstairs making a quiche and our dinner.

A cold January

It is after 11:30 on this cold January Saturday. Mom is in bed reading the newspaper from today. I have been watching TV. I have to say I just can’t get into this season’s L&O. It just doesn’t feel right.

I am getting tired again and I should go to bed. I just have more things to do for my address book for outlook and I should be writing in my journals for the swap. I just haven’t done that.

Things with Mom are settling down after an argument I had with her Thursday. I think it was Thursday. It was over Personal Hygiene. She was being incredibly rude about it I am not stupid I know hygiene is important but she was going beyond trying to prove a point.

The argument got very intense. I was about to throw in the towel and tell her do what ever she wanted to do with the house. Anyway the next morning I apologized to her and she said the apology was accepted (but she clearly had a tone and attitude about it). When I talked to her about it later on in the day she said she was still upset but that she would get over it. I surmised that her “apology accepted” was a bunch of crap. I think I asked her something like…”so the apology accepted wasn’t really accepted?” When I got back to my room I told her she had until tonight to “get over it”. I will not be subjected to her rudeness or to her head games. Thankfully it has gotten better though.

We had no heat last night. We also didn’t have it for most of today either. It was the furnace and the new gauge on the tank again. Matthew said he would be here first thing this morning. He and his father came around 3. Mom was very disappointed. Actually I was highly annoyed. We had to spend most of the day extremely cold. Anyway they got it going and so now the house is semi normal again.

When I wasn’t shivering and trying to keep warm I managed to get some bills paid. I have to still send out two more. I mailed most of them this morning.

I did get to see kitty and she is fine. I cleaned up the kitty litter and hopefully I didn’t break the vacuums.

Well its time for me to say good night.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
