Discoveries

The kitties have discovered the chains to the cuckoo clock and have been playing with it.  They have finding new places to look as well.  I did manage to close off the spare room again.  I stuck paper in the door by the handle.  I had to try it a few times.

The minute I woke up I got the sheets into the wash and have been folding clothes I left there from last night.  I watched Charmed and then did some chores.

The sun took its time coming out today but I took the opportunity to do some vacuuming and straightening up because it will be a few days before I can do it again I think.

I got an email from Telka regarding club activities.  SHe asked me to to book a date for the carnival at the nursing home (Who knows what the new name will be if and when they change it) and the Shelter Dinner at Beth-El.  I told her I could do it this afternoon.

Once those phone calls were done I relaxed for a bit before getting a call from Liz.  We made tentative plans for me to drop some mail off that needed her attention for Mom’s stuff.  I finally did the bathroom and spare room.

I showered and left around 3:30 for Liz’s and the store.  I bought more than I should have on some levels and some of it was for work.  It took me about an hour to shop and then got home.  Sky was waiting at the top of the stairs for me.  He came down as I was putting the stuff away.  Eventually so did TL  They walked around and ate some more food and i had my dinner.

As I was cleaning the kitchen and getting some peppermint tea i called Liz.  We talked about the tea and shopping and then her plans for tomorrow.  SHe has to watch Nelson 3 as he isn’t feeling well-again.  I think Olga has  a point about day care.

Now I am lying on the bed and Sky is asleep at my feet.  Tiger I think is downstairs somewhere and I am hoping I fall asleep soon.

I have to call the garage tomorrow.  The engine light never turned off today so that clearly means I need to do something.

Dear Friends

December 1, 2013

Dear Friends:

Good Morning!  I am trying really hard to be chipper but its just not working.  I kept waking up a lot during the night.  I also have a dull headache going on.  I must have slept on the pillow I am allergic to.

After my last entry yesterday I called my sister to see how she was feeling.  She wasn’t exactly running sprints around the house but she says she was getting better.  We commiserated on that of our brother.  She acknowledged that I am not big on Chaos.  She has said many times she will not feed into unacceptable behavior and that’s how I feel.  I think we talked a good 45 minutes and it was just about then when Mom got up.

The rest of the day we put up the new wreath that Claudia had sent along for the holiday.  That was a bit testy situation.  I did some laundry and by 4 I decided wasn’t doing anymore.  Instead I started my sleeping sessions.  Mom got dressed and worked on a tablecloth that got stained by one of our guests Thursday.  She went to mass and we did our own thing for the rest of the night.  I did pay a bill (Yay me).

Today was going to be Bingo, Church and Laundry.  That is until my car wouldn’t start this morning.  Its going now thanks to Neighbor Don but I have definitely got to get it in to the mechanics this week. I have to call tomorrow.  He found anti freeze leaking and oil on some components.

WE had a short but wonderful visit from Chris and his kids.  They were funny.  Chris did a lot of talking and the kids shared their favorite or not so favorite activities.  Today they were going to see Frozen.

The rest of the evening was quiet.  I cleared out more emails and stuff like that.  I gave a half hearted attempt at the Christmas card list and updates.

I am looking forward to a semi quiet work week and activity wise week.

I was feeling a little bold today

After releasing the second of two raccoons this week from the trap and having enough coffee to make LJ Gibbs proud I was bold enough to take on a fellow passenger who was being less then gentlemanly. H got on at Cedar Street near the Psychiatric Hospital and was trying to scam the bus driver by getting out of paying the fare. She wasn’t having any of it. She told him to get out of her personal space and sit down.

He did but started swearing and talking and I finally told him to watch his mouth. He got mouthy with me but not too loudly. The guy sitting next to him got up and sat across from him (he wasn’t interested in hearing him either) and all the while the bus driver was listening and told him to stop or she would call the police. He was dropping a lot of F bombs and saying his father worked on the buses for the 37 years etc. When he told me he was having a bad day I looked at him and said I am sorry you are having a bad day but I don’t want to hear it.

In one of the moments I looked around I looked at the guy who moved and thought he was looking at me and thinking “shut up woman’. However, I didn’t pay attention but remembered a story this driver told me the other day when a similar incident occurred and someone stood up and told the other passenger off. Anyway I was grateful to be getting off and I blessed the bus driver. I told a few people that story and some of them looked at me and shook their heads while others applauded me for saying something.

I got started working shortly after 8. There were two large boxes with EOB’s from United Healthcare that were not opened by finance or even the bank that handles our lockbox for us. So I left it on G’s desk for her to look at when she got in. Unfortunately it will have to wait until next week as she never came in today. She hasn’t been feeling well all week. She also reiterated that she will be leaving on Disability as soon as she can manage it. This really saddens me as I really love her as a friend and as a boss.

I managed to get all the work done early despite the second mail run (the campus/interoffice part) came really late and that had some mail in it. There wasn’t a lot but I really didn’t like the fact it was so late. I also was able to get some of the mail for the other floors delivered. I still have a few piles but it’s done quite considerably. I have to remember there is some on the floor next to the second desk and the wall.

I also tried to stay out from the aisles on the main floor. Unfortunately it worked until ST walked in from the ladies room. I had been talking to DB about the morning bus ride. When I had a moment and DB was near by I explained to her what was going. Everyone knows that ST has been on the warpath this past week. I also let EV (a co worker and union rep) what G had said to me the day before about ST unconvinced that I need help.

I have some car news. I got it back today. I called at lunch time and he said it’s almost done and that he had a few things he needed to do before giving it back. I called back at 4 as Mom was picking me up and it was ready. The bill was being written out. So by 4:30 I had brought it home. I rather not tell you I left my credit card there. I had to go back and get it.

They also straighten out the car for me (by that I mean put a few things in a box and picked up the garbage that I had on the floor. I am going to put those in the trunk and get throw the papers and stuff out tomorrow.

After I left the garage for the last time this week I headed over to Sis’s house. She had gone out for a few hours and N1 was watching TV. I went there to drop off the books for J-man that Mom wanted him to have and I had her thank you/birthday gift too. N1 and I had talked about the car and the ex-DIL he has absolutely no use for. He said the same thing that Mom said to me that the girl is selfish and self-centered. When I left I let him know I would come over after church for Father’s Day. Sis called and was tickled pink and pleased at the gift.

I don’t remember what time it was when I got home. Mom was finishing up frosting the cake she was taking for the literary club party tonight (it was an extra meeting). I was getting my dinner of left over spaghetti.

After a week of no show Woodchuck #3 finally showed its face. It appeared right after the lawn guys finished working. It kept popping its head up out of the hole. The first few times Mom missed it then she saw him. After she left he finally came out and sniffed and explored things. He even went into the trap but not far enough to spring it. After he went back in I cut up some more melon and put in the trap and the path from his hole to the door. He hasn’t been out since. I have been checking the trap regularly tonight but no luck. I expect to find one of two things early tomorrow morning. Either it is a different critter or he/she in the trap. I will take it to the park when I get up if it is WC#3.

I managed to answer a few Journal Writing check in prompts such as the summary Saturday, and a few other responses. JAustin from the Journal writing list shared a funny forward that I sent to a few friends and family. I had a few responses tonight.

Okay well I think I am going to say good night as one of my favorite radio programs is about to start on Public Radio. It’s a local show called Profiles in Folk. It is on every Friday night from 10 to midnight and it focuses on folk music nationally and groups that have performed in and around the area.

Not a bad day

My day started around 5:30 or so. I saw a critter in the trap. I though it was from the woodchuck clan. I would find out I was wrong. I woke up Mom to let her know so she came out to watch. I was all set to take it to the park and release it. Oh what was it? It was a raccoon. He looked at me like he was begging me to let him go. So I did. I was a little nervous but he wasn’t angry or anything.

After that little chapter Mom went back to bed and I had breakfast and watched Smallville. I started getting ready around 6. I got online for a little while too.

I was out the door a little after 7 and tending to junior a short time later. When I got to work chatted with JanetN and Mama Joanie. Then I started on the postage tallies. I managed to get one done and then started on the lockbox. Didn’t get it done because we had a staff meeting and then the post office mail came. I will go in early tomorrow and finish them.

I did manage to make some calls. The car is still being worked on. I have no idea when that will be done. This is making me a tad nervous. Mom has offered to pick me up from work for the rest of the week. .

At some point I realized I would need some one to drive me home from the dentist. I was pretty much expecting to be loopy from the Novocain and stuff so I called Liz and Nelson. Liz and made arrangements to pick her up at 1 and she would take me home. I gave the car back too.

When we got there we were told it would take a half hour. I was brought in a short time later and then prepared for it. I told them about going off the Coumadin. Then we got started. The doctor was wonderful and complimented me on what a good patient I was. It didn’t take long and I have stitches and will have them taken out on the 23rd in the morning. They have me on anti biotic (they changed it from Penicillin).

I Fell asleep around 3:30 and the next thing I know its freaking 5:30. Mom was running to the pharmacy for me and made some scrambled eggs for me. By then the bleeding stopped.

I am going to go to bed soon. I am tired and I also want to get to work early as possible.

Today ws my day to be stressed

The mail for the other floors is starting to pile up even more (this includes interoffice mail and regular post office mail). It doesn’t help when people walk in and comment on it. I nearly bit off JackieM’s head when she walked in and made a comment. By then she had been the sixth person in two days. I happen to have been working on the daily mail which to me is freaking priority. I also had the opportunity to get the lobby mail that was there all week.

The last two days were exhausting to the point where I didn’t go to the DTC meeting and went to bed early last night. I got news about the car as well. I wasn’t feeling well either.

The news about the car isn’t good. The pin that holds the timing belt broke and caused serious damage to valves in the engine and TC needs to pull the engine out and fix it. It will take some time and could be expensive ($2200-$2500). Good news is Sis offered the use of her car while she is away next week. She will pick me up on Sunday and I will drop her off and take the car. I just told Mom about it when she got home from Dinner. She was happily surprised by the news and fact that Sis offered the car.

I saw Debra yesterday told her about the week and the current struggle with the car. She felt awful. I told her how things at work went including the firestorm at work. She gave me the insurance forms to submit to Aetna. I can do that tomorrow.

It’s been very chilly this evening. It has also been cloudy all afternoon as well. The rain is supposed to start in a couple of hours there is a chance of Thunderstorms all day tomorrow. \o/.

I am tired so as the normal Friday night I am just going to chill. I hope all of you had a great Friday and hopefully a great weekend. I will be around.

Not a bad night

I have to say I am enjoying the evening. I didn’t have any problems getting home from work. The traffic was light and I managed to get home just about 4:30.

Before going in I decided to clean the windows of the car because they seemed dirty and the glare at times can be quite dangerous. I was surprised to find there wasn’t a lot of dirt. That can mean only one thing (or more) and that is the wind shield is pitted. I will check it out tomorrow while driving.

I found Mom in her pajamas and talking on the phone regarding her one of her committees and boards. I think she has to speak and she is still having a hard time with clog ears. I have noticed she is not coughing as much as she was last night or this morning. She did manage to get dinner started.

We had pork chops and mashed potatoes and home made biscuits. She is cleaning up and going to watch TV for a while.

The rest of the work day went okay. I took a walk to city hall to pick up parking vouchers for GC and came back and got us lunch. Longhini sausage sandwiches. I have to finish the lockbox and do the lobby mail and do the month end of postage tallies.

I watched TV for a while and now I am heading to bed….

Snow

It is snowing outside this morning. It is hitting the window with full force. I have been up since five and could hear the wind blowing hard. I turned the TV on and said there was snow coming. I looked outside and there was nothing but now its coming down hard. I was in no way prepared for this. I even wondered why Mom was talking to me about boots yesterday. I hope they are down in the cellar because if they are not I am in deep trouble.

Yesterday was great. It was 50 degrees out for most of yesterday. The sun was shining too. Bingo went well and we had fun. I had roughly 16 to 20 players and we pretty much had no problems. Apparently Bernie and Julia are not speaking to each other. Gee what a surprise.

I talked with Natalie about the activity dates for the next month. I told her I would get back to her on the time for the gift delivery on the 18th. I will call her today about that.

After bingo I was late for church (as usual) I am going to have to start going either on Saturdays or go to an early mass. St Mary’s has a 7 am and 8:30 mass. They do have 4:30 mass Sunday afternoons but I don’t want to get into that habit again.

The Board meeting went well. I was a little late but that’s nothing unusual. There was a traffic tie up on the highway. The meeting was about two hours and we talked about the Discovery trips, the Veteran’s Day activities, and the new members being installed.

After the meeting I went and fed Junior. Roberta left out all the goodies for both the cat and me with a note “only a couple a day”. I am not sure if she was referring to the walnuts or the vast amount of cookies or the cans of food. There is only one problem. The phone numbers and address they left me to contact them or Miriam I can’t find. I have no idea where they went. Let’s hope I don’t need to call them. I can probably find Miriam and Ben’s name online but that’s it.

I tried to drop off the car last night but no one was at the garage at 7 so I have to do it this morning. I called Dolette last night to remind her to pick me up but she didn’t forget but I wanted her to pick me up at the Garage. She said she would between 7:30-7:40. Why can’t she do it earlier? We won’t be getting there until after 8.

The rest of the night I waited for the clothes to be dry. I have to still put the folded sweaters in the sweater holder instead of my bed. I will do that after Debra tonight.

Okay it’s after 6 now and I still have to shower and dress. I have already ironed the clothes I am going to wear but I need to find the boots.

Family Update

Well Evening everyone how are you doing? I am okay kind of tired and I am going to bed soon. I really hope I do get that extra hour of sleep when we turn the clocks back later.

It has been quite a whiles since I did a family Update and thought I would do one tonight.

Things here are okay even though you wouldn’t think it was this afternoon. Mom and are kind of snipping at each other and I am not exactly sure why. I guess it started last night but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later and I don’t expect it to last much longer-hoping I am.

Things at work are pretty good. There are no major issues really. I am trying to keep up on things and it is an ongoing exercise. I did get a little concerned last week but it didn’t last long. I figure it will get done eventually and hopefully by the time the holidays roll around next month. We have a new scanning person that started this week. It is an interesting experience. We are preparing for the holidays with various fundraising from United Way and food drives and clothes drives. We did very well in month end AR. Yay Team. I have barely done any OT this week. I hope to do more this coming week.

Some of the reasons I haven’t done OT this past week is I have had a lot of other things to do. I had some Doctor’s appointments, Volunteering, and fun stuff to do.

It seems like since the weather has changed I have had more aches and pains. It isn’t just the weather but the foods I continue to eat. For example I was at an auction for the Democratic Town Committee (it’s our new fundraiser I will chat about soon). I had some food and within an hour my legs and arms hurt terribly. I was stiff and achy. I took the medicine and by the time I was going to bed I felt better. I saw the Doctor last week sometime and he wants me to do more exercise and get a sleep study done. I was supposed to last Wednesday but there was some confusion on my part as to location. Now it will be in about ten days. I see him after the holidays.

The woman’s club has been rather active since starting the new meeting season. We have recently installed several new girls’ club members. The group I think is up to 30. We did some fundraising for Breast Cancer Awareness month and did pretty well. This month alone we have a couple of activities. One is our annual Veteran’s Day service at the nursing home on November 11. There will be at least 20 or 30 Veteran’s there to be recognized. Then a few days later is the Pie in the Sky fundraising at one of the high schools. WE have some Holiday activities in December as well.

Well another election season has come to a close. I am sure it was just as nasty in your areas as it was here in Connecticut. We just learned as of today that Former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy actually did win the election after some cities ran out of paper ballots. Yes the Republican candidate hasn’t conceded and I expect this to go on for quite some time.

Happily all the candidates in my area that we supported won their bids for office. I am also happy to report that I will not be leaving the state of Connecticut now that I know WWE CEO Linda McMahon lost her bid for Senate. She did give a nice concession speech and offered the olive branch to Richard Blumenthal. She is a piece of work (and yes I was insulting her).

I spent most of Election night standing at two different Polling places greeting people and let me tell you I was exhausted and achy and couldn’t stand or walk well when I was done. I went to the Headquarters to watch the results come in and hear speeches and then I went home.

Friday we had our newest fundraiser an Auction. It was a goods and Services Auction to benefit the Town Committee. Since we no longer participate in the cities biggest fundraising activity (the Oyster festival) we had to find other ways to raise funds for the DTC. My contribution was a pet sitting service. I do it on the side of course but I watch a person’s pet while they are on vacation or what not. Some one said they put a bid on it last night before l left. I am not sure how much we raised but I guess we will find out next month or so.

Then again with the Holidays coming up we may not until after the New Year. Most of the meetings are on the last two weeks of the months and on Thursdays.

Mom is doing okay. She has been busy with her Mental Health Boards, committees and activities these last few months. She usually attends the Folks on Spokes fundraiser that’s held every late summer but we were away at a family wedding this year.

She was given a citation the night of the annual Meet and Greet that was held here in October and it was presented to her by Nancy Wyman candidate for Lt Governor on behalf of Richard Blumenthal who couldn’t be there. There were 35 people here including Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. She was overwhelmed to say the least.

Other than that she has been spending time with family and friends.

My Brother Bob and his family continue to be very busy. Bob is teaching at three colleges this semester with 40 students each. That’s a lot of paper correcting. Ethel is getting by with real estate and taking care of the house.

They had a nice visit with my niece Diane who is currently finishing up a week in Pittsburgh for South Pacific on Tour. For the most part she likes it. Being with the some of the same people day after day is proving an enlightening education for her. Next week the tour takes her to St. Louis and then she will be home for a few days at Thanksgiving. She says she will stay with the tour until February 2011 (as they are adding more and more dates and locations for the tour).

The boys John and Rob are doing okay. John is in Korea and occasionally posts to Facebook his adventures. Sometimes I wish he wouldn’t but that’s just me. Rob continues to work for American Medical Response Company here in Connecticut and lives in Hamden with his lovely girlfriend.

My brother Jim just celebrated his 60th birthday this weekend. He had my nephew over this weekend for a boy’s weekend and I think he is doing pretty well. He has been spending as much time with the kids as possible.
WE are expecting him up for thanksgiving this year with or without the kids. The kids are well teenage kids. They are keeping busy with their activities. Some time in December Mom and I will give the kids full access to the attic and have them decorate the house for Christmas. That should really be interesting.

October was a busy month for My Sister and her family. Liz and Nelson celebrated their 12th Anniversary. We also had a baby shower for their Son Nelson Jr. and his wife who are expecting their first bambino in January. Adam the youngest became engaged to his girlfriend Olga. We found out Chris my nephew has a new girlfriend and is living on the other side of Milford. His kids are the grandkids that spend lots of time with Grandma Liz and Poppy Nelson. I call Liz and Nelson every couple of days and see them at least once a week.

Okay that’s about the news from here. Its getting late now and I have a full day ahead of me tomorrow. I have my normal Sunday activities as well as a meeting and cat feeding session.

I have to drop my car off for service this week as well. That is always fun.

Good Night.

I got the car into the shop

I had another great day at work. Got all the mail done except the lobby mail. I will do that in the morning. The office is still in good shape and I even showed Sally T and she thought it looked great.

I called the garage today. I spoke to Frank and asked him if I could bring the car in after work. He told me he was expecting me yesterday. Gulp. Anyway, after arranging some rides for what could be the next few days I got the car to the garage. Dolette will be picking me up tomorrow (and I am a little apprehensive about this) around quarter of 8. I am hoping she will be giving me a ride home tomorrow too. I asked CC for a ride in on Friday and Carol H a ride home on Friday. Carol asked me for a ride home today so I gave it to her.

When I got home I relaxed for a while then had dinner. Finished putting the sweater I was soaking from last night through the wash and I think it’s finished drying now but I am too tired to go look. I tried to clear out some emails from the mailboxes and updated some logs and then watched TV.

I took a nice relaxing hot bath as my legs and hands were starting to ache again (I really believe it was because I added the worcstershire sauce to the stew tonight. That’s how quickly it affects me sometimes. Yeah the option is not to have it but I love it.

Mom got home from the Aldermanic Budget hearings around 11 or so. She was very tired but got into her pajamas. She told me they were like at the bottom of the list. Actually as in years past she spoke twice. The first time was for the Regional Mental Health Board and then again for Bridges. She an early morning breakfast for United Way and then a Doctor’s appointment and then not sure what else she had.

I talked with Liz today. She and Nelson were putting together a new Ottoman (Spelling?) And some other things and apparently they had some trouble doing it. She told me she spent some girl time with Audrey at the beach yesterday. She wanted me to pass along a message to Mom. As of today they will be going to the play with us on Saturday. That is unless the Doctor has nelson come in for the hernia operation.

Okay I am going to go and check some forums before going to bed.

Didn't Sleep Well

Well I didn’t get to go to bed until way after midnight this morning. Instead I did some online banking and paid some bills. I could hear Mom getting ready for bed. She was both tired and cold from our activities earlier in the day.

The Reason I couldn’t sleep or get to sleep is the soda and coffee I had while at Lisa and Nelson’s house and because my back still hurt from pulling muscles when I was at work. I put some Ben Gay ® on and took some Ibuprofen for it. I could also feel my nose starting to run. I hope to heck I don’t have allergies right now.

When I finally did get to sleep it didn’t like I was sleeping long because I started getting cramps. I ended up having the runs. They didn’t last long but they didn’t make my stomach feel very good.

It was nearly 7:30 when I got up so I got ready for bingo. I made a quick stop to Roberta’s to feed Junior. I got to spend time with my godson Charlie (a mixed shepherd) from next door. It was after 8:30 when I left and went to the nursing home.

When I got there it was dark and one of the short term patients was watching TV. I brought the newspapers in from out front and delivered the others to their rooms. I made fresh coffee and also had a moment to talk to Phil the chef in the kitchen.

I was the only of the troops doing bingo. My back up team all abandoned me on this day. I had about 12 residents playing. One was an old acquaintance of Mom’s. Well at least she knew the family. Back in the day everyone knew everyone else.

After Bingo I went to church (late) and was very confused. Father Cronin was (I thought giving the homily) he wasn’t he was speaking on giving (contributing more) to the church. Then he went into the homily. The only thing was the Gospel reading hadn’t been read aloud yet. Father Nathan did that. As we finished the reading some us started to sit that is until Father Nathan did the Apostle’s Creed. I was really confused (and probably tired).

After church I went over to Liz and Nelson’s house. Rich had just brought his niece and nephew (Audrey and Jason) to the house to wait for their Mother Stephanie. The kids were outside playing and Liz was watching and so was Nelson. Apparently no one in the Morgan/Rivera homestead slept last night. As a result the kiddies were less the stellar in the behavior department. I left around 1 and came home.

Mom was getting some more baking done and we talked about the morning. We talked about the food we ate and the sleep we didn’t get. I spent some time over at Sylvia’s and Mom did some paper work.

The rest of the afternoon I did some napping and some web browsing online. I watched TV. It seems as if Harry Potter is on again> There was a whole bunch of stuff I really wasn’t interested in watching.

Around 3 I decided to vacuum my car and clean the rubber mats in the car. They were dry by 4:30. Just in time because it looked like the skies were getting cloudy.

Just about 4:30 I went over to feed Junior and came back for Dinner. Mom was making some kind of Chicken cutlet dinner and we were going to eat early so I could make the Board Meeting at Telka’s.

Today turned out okay

Despite a rocky start to the day things went pretty well. You see Mom needed to get her car serviced so she dropped it off this morning. I gave her a ride back to the house. She criticized /complained that MY car was cruddy. I got annoyed and she saw it. When we got back to the house all she said to me was see you later. Not thank you for the ride. You can imagine just what I was feeling by then. I was having a major argument with myself in the car all the way to the highway. I don’t think anyone saw me and I really don’t care either.

After a while I calmed down and drove to the garage in New Haven. It was nearly 7:30 when I got there and by 20 of 8 I was at the office. I told a few people about the morning s events. I don’t think they were all that sympathetic. They probably were right

I decided to drop off mail to other floors and then started working on the rest of the mail from yesterday. Since the post office mail was still large I worked on that first. Lou from Go-For came and dropped off the tub of charts and the reports. I showed them to Claudia. We talked about it for a bit and then I dropped them off to Menchu R’s office.

At some point during the morning Mary and Claudia got those stupid orange Physician Directories out of my office Ye-hah. I asked Claudia if she was going to want to watch me again and she said she had a lot to do and that I should just do what I normally do for now. I was so relieved. I wanted to get everything done. Lockbox was light but I got that done in the afternoon. I was able to get everything done by 2 and got started on the bad addresses.

Claudia showed me what she did for the new daily mail count spreadsheet and it is awesome. We are going to start using it on Monday. She will show me how to just highlight and use one day. It looks so much better than the one I put together. It makes me so mad that I didn’t think of doing it that way a long time ago. I can’t even begin to explain how it is set up. It just is so much better.

I stayed until 6 and did the bad addresses. One was so big that I could only do two days worth of them. I still have three more days worth and when I get to work tomorrow that will be the first thing I work on.

Well I managed to do the one thing I promised Telka last night I would do. I called Beth-El Shelter to set up a dinner for the residents there. Unfortunately the man in charge is part of the delegation that went to Haiti this past week and won’t be back until Wednesday. I haven’t told Telka yet.
I haven’t called the American Red Cross to sign up for sponsoring a blood drive yet. I will do that tomorrow. I am not sure when the next one is for Milford but it should not be too difficult.

When I got to the car I returned to argument I was having with myself this morning about the morning events. It didn’t change much and when I got home things were okay so all of that was a waste of energy I think.

Before having dinner I took a bath and got into my pajamas. I wasn’t feeling all that well (gee what a surprise). Earlier I discovered I was being cursed. It isn’t too bad but it would explain some of the feelings I had this week.

Dinner was delicious. It was our favorite Lamb shanks and vegetables. Mom pulled it off the bones for us to eat and it was out of this world. We watched the news. We chatted about Mom’s day with out the car.

After I finished I came upstairs and watched TV for a while. I also took a mini nap. Now I am going to read some other blogs and then get ready for bed.

Mom is going to be at the Literary club Meeting tomorrow so I will have the house to myself then. I probably will get the laundry done and watch TV.

An Early Night

Hey everyone. It is after 7:30 and I took some Nyquil and don’t know how long it will be until it kicks in but I wanted to tell you how things went.

Jim and the kids left around 10 after Mom’s pancake breakfast. When they left Mom got ready for Church and I split my time between lying down and watching whatever was on the TV for the moment.

Mom came home from church around 12:30 by then the Star Wars Trilogy was beginning on Spike TV. Mom just hung out for a while and read the paper and did some computer work until it was time for her to meet our friends Tess and Mike for dinner. I went to bed before she came home so I don’t know when she came home.

Today was really hectic. It seemed stressful to me as well as anything that was touched seemed to annoy people or aggravate them. I had a lot of work that I wasn’t able to finish.

I did get to call for an appointment or so with Tim’s Auto for the emissions. I probably could go in on Thursday and it would take 5 minutes and then get it mailed out.

Happily I was able to go home at my normal 4 pm because Debra had to cancel for an emergency. It would have taken longer then she would have liked and she knew I didn’t like waiting until 6:30.

When I came home I got home Mom wasn’t feeling well herself so we did our own thing. I watched TV then took a bath (I had the runs and it wasn’t pretty). I also did some web browsing.

Now that the Nyquil is apparently kicking in I am saying good night.

Ever Have one those Days?

Have you ever had one of those days where things tend to go wrong? It didn’t upset the entire day but it made for some dicey moments.

I overheard a conversation between Susan A and Maria R talking about how Michele P found out that Susan was leaving. I thought I was going to piss my pants. I also got a little panicked. A short time later when Carol Hildebrand came in I told her about the conversation. I also told her I was the one who had told Michele P. I explained that I do a newsletter to my pen pals and the groups. She understood and I asked her if she thought I would get into trouble. She felt no that I wasn’t lying about it. I even asked Liz R and she agreed with me when I said it is public knowledge and I could say whatever I wanted to whether it be blogs or what ever. I am not sure what if anything I should do about it.

The second bone head thing I did was to leave my headlights on this morning. I couldn’t get the car to start so a girl in Registration suggested I call/or walk to the security force and ask for a jump. I did go to them and asked and they were very helpful. 25 minutes later I was on my way home.

When I got home it was nearly quarter of five. Mom was on the phone after she got off I told her what happened. I also showed her my leg that seemed better but still needs to be elevated. I am going to do it as soon as I get this written.

Mom left for her meeting around 5:30. she got my dinner ready and I just put it on around 6. I spent the time watching TV and warm compress around the leg. Unfortunately it leaked on to the chair I was using to prop up my foot. I am going to try again shortly.

I got some really nice cards today at work. I received a couple of thank you emails from people I have already sent cards to.

Gayle wasn’t in today I don’t know why but I believe she will be in tomorrow. Evette H broke her ankle over the weekend so she didn’t participate in the party for Christina. The party was fun for the most part except some of the conversation was a little inappropriate.

Well I am going to go to bed.

A Dark Thursday

It is quarter of 7 and still dark. I can’t wait for the time change. I am tired of getting up at 6:30 and it still being dark. I know that means it will be dark at 5 pm instead of six but it has been getting darker even before 6 pm in the last few days. I just checked the Weather.com site and it is 51 degrees right now and it is going to be rainy and cloudy all day.

Mom tells me she has a meeting at 3 pm so I am going to do the emissions when I leave from work. I have to go to the bank at lunch time and get some money out. It shouldn’t take very long the guy I spoke with earlier this week says it should take 20 minutes.

Well it is now 7 am and I still have to get dressed and put the garbage out. I will see you later.

I have been here since before 8. The ride in didn’t seem so bad. That is until I got to the exit for the garage. It was long and on to the highway. So I went via the Office drive way. This one guy was walking across the street in the crosswalk as though he was going on a Sunday stroll. I was really anxious because he wasn’t moving fast enough for me. There wasn’t any traffic to speak of on George Street. I got in the garage via George and Temple Streets.

Before heading to the office I mailed Lisa’s letter. I hope she gets it soon. I am hoping she isn’t the type to keep saying “I haven’t gotten your letter yet” I mean yes she was doing that when I hadn’t written her but I mean when I know I have sent it to her.

When I got here I went to pick up the mail from Registration and Patient Services and stopped by Shirley’s office to see if she had anything going back to the mailroom. I noticed she had things in her office for a party. The Collections and Patient Services department is having a party. (I think it’s a baby shower for Thawana B.) Jocelyn was a little put out because she has been included in these things before and neither of us were this time.

After that I was ready for the charts. I had ordered a great deal of charts and they only sent 13 or 14 charts and they also sent some of the request forms back with no explanation. I called MR to find out what was going on. Vivian the liaison didn’t have a good answer. Patti wants me to order the charts that came back with no explanation for Monday. She wasn’t pleased.

I called Mom this morning. She was having her coffee. I can’t help think that she is still annoyed with me from the other night. As I told Donna this morning I am tired of this. I am tired of her telling me how to live my life. Whether I am here at work or at home. I pay room and board and I have helped her out in so many ways.

Anyway, she has a meeting at three and then the CPAC meeting at 7. I will do the emissions testing then. I should be home shortly after that.

It is almost 11:30 and I am just finishing up lockbox. The main part of the Post office mail is done. I am just waiting on Mike to bring me the rest of the campus mail and see if there any stragglers in the pile. I went downstairs to check for mail there but it hasn’t come yet.

Even though it is still raining I plan on going to the bank at lunch time. I am thinking of also getting a wrap from Subway because I am hungry, tired, and getting a headache from not eating—much.

Mike came after 11:30 and didn’t bring me much of mail. It is readdress mail basically. I can finish that after lunch. Right now though I am going to get some water on my face.

I took my walk today at lunch time. It had some minor excitement. These two people (who were either homeless or patients for a halfway house) were talking and walking by the corner of Crown and College and they were talking about the woman’s food. The guy was teasing her but looking at me when he said it. My response was “whatever”. He started yelling at me. I told him that he was looking at me when he said that. I realize that was incredibly dangerous but I didn’t think of it until after I was half way to the bank.

I made it to the bank okay got through the line and then headed to Subway and got my lunch. One veggie wraps to go. As usual it was very delicious. I was walking down Temple and ran into this man. If you know anything about New Haven (as in any town I guess) you either like him or you don’t. We talked for a few minutes and then he went to his meeting and I came back to the office.

I didn’t realize I was ten minutes late back from lunch. I did the requests right away and ordered 12 for tomorrow. After that I got rid of the bad addresses and then into the readdress mail. I will be doing that for the rest of the day.

I talked with Liz today. She is going to be babysitting Audrey tonight. Stephanie and Chris are taking Jason to the Circus at Harbor Yard Arena. According to Liz it’s a surprise. We got to talking about the kids. How funny they can be. For example she was talking to Chris on the phone the other day and Jason gets on and they started talking about sports. Liz asked him if he like the game and he told her he likes hockey. Neither Chris (Dad) or Liz knew he could say hockey let alone know what it is. Audrey either laughs or cries.

Liz also asked me about how things are going and how Mom is. I told her Mom is doing well. Busy but good. I told her that Mom has been voted in as chairman of the Bridges Board. She said good for her. Liz tells me that everyone else is well and she would email Junior's address soon.

Well I have an hour left before leaving so I am going to post this and check emails really quick. I will check in before going to bed tonight.

Well just as I promised I am checking in. The emissions test went just fine. It took about all of ten minutes. The drive to the Firestone seemed to take longer than that. Traffic was rather heavy for a Thursday. At least I made it there and got home by 5.

Mom wasn’t home yet so I had left over eggplant from last night. It was good. How could it not be? For dessert I had some pumpkin bread and ice cream. I decided to watch TV. It was Charmed 8th Season. I just couldn’t get into it tonight. I watched a little bit of “Star Trek Voyager”.

Mom came home around 6. I had been upstairs and she apologized for being late. I told her I had dinner already. She felt that was a good choice. She finished it for her own dinner.

While Mom had dinner I came went upstairs and wrote out some checks in preparation for pay day. After a while we got ready for our meetings.

Mom left before I did and I left around 7. I stopped at the shell mini-mart and got some soda (Sierra mist diet). I headed to the Club and parked the car and went in with a few others and helped set up the chairs.

The meeting got started and Rich started with a few opening comments about the recent Board of Ed debates that were held this past week and a few articles attacking him as the Town Chairman. He introduced Nancy DeNardo the Chair of the State Central Committee and she spoke about the importance of the elections and our participation and the events of the next year.

After she spoke we continued with the business portion. We had campaign reports and board and district reports. Mom came near the end of the meeting. After the meeting we made some endorsement videos for Kerri that will be on the website as well as this fine man's blog. I even did one and I was a nervous wreck.

I asked a few people who went to the fundraiser at Patrick’s house last night what they thought of the house. I was praising the house and of course Patrick. I need to send him an email before going to bed.

We were home before 9. Mom was on the computer when I got home. We both got into our pajamas and I wrote a letter to my friend Gail in California to pay for the “raffle prize”. I wrote out some more checks and updated my checkbook.

Now that it is getting late and my hands, and arms hurt a little I am going to bed. I took my meds and some ibuprofen so they won’t be hurting for long.

Have a great night everyone…

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
