I have a confession to make

My trip home yesterday wasn’t as uneventful as I made it out to be. I was meant to head to Cuomo Bridge, but I stayed on 78 East and ended up in NYC on 95 instead.   In summary, I ultimately took an alternative route to reach FDR.   I am unable to specify my location.  The whole situation was stressful at best.  I was exhausted by the time I got home.

I really didn’t do much yesterday.  I had a visit with Don, and Laura’s visit was close to 6 and stayed until 7.  The visit went smoothly, and I was in bed by 8 o'clock.

It took some time for me to fall asleep.   My leg cramps came back and took some time to go away.   After that I was able to sleep

This morning, I got up at 5:30 fed Sky and did minimal cleaning.  I have completed showering and getting dressed.   I intended to take a walk and visit Planet Fitness; however, I am currently not feeling well.  Again.  I was experiencing fatigue and some stomach discomfort; however, the symptoms have subsided.

This afternoon I have a pharmacy call and then get ready for the dinner tonight that I didn’t pay for. Yet.  I made a call to the person in charge of this to double check if I could do it.

For now I am going to take a nap my energy level dropped quickly

Came home today

I left my brother's at 10am.   I shared a final breakfast coffee with Janis before she departed for work.   Spent time with Jim and packed the car and headed out.  My hope is tcako return next month for a weekend visit.

The morning was beautiful.   I was aware that I had a limited window of time before the afternoon commute commenced.  Traffic proceeded smoothly.   I got home a little after 3.  I had to stop a few times.

Upon returning home, I unpacked my suitcase, organized my living space, and spent time engaging with Sky.    I was also expecting Laura from OS to stop by on her way back home.

My last day in Allentown was very nice.  Once the weather cleared up and we all had our naps.  Janis completed some cleaning and knitting tasks while Jim and I went for a walk and took the car to the car wash.   The place did a beautiful job.  It turned out to be a birthday present from Jim.  He also didn’t expect the price to be more than the gift card price.

After the carwash we came home and did our own thing.  Around 4 I offered to take them to dinner.  I would go for a walk around Trexler Park before we went.  It took me nearly an hour, I walked 1.62 miles, at speeds of 2.1 to 3.3.

After the walk we decided where to go.  Ether a place called Theresas, Outback Steak house.   It was over on N Krock’s Road in Allentown.  We each started off normal drinks, then salads, and each of our main meal was slightly different.  Jim had ribeye with baked potato, Janis had Shrim and chicken with pasta Alfedo, and I had steak with coconut shrimp, and broccoli.  It was delicious but my stomach was acting wonky.

We returned home at eight o'clock and engaged in a discussion regarding the arrangements for my upcoming departure. Following this conversation, I proceeded to pack my suitcase.   I didn't think I'd need the computer or phone, but I was wrong.  They were charged up to this morning.   I did leave out stuff I would need this morning as well.

The rest of the night will be settling in and looking over the preparations for the dinner tomorrow night.

Allentown Day 2

Our plans for yesterday afternoon changed by lunchtime.  Janis came home from WW at that point and we decided to have a snack (unhealthy lunch LOL) and decided to go to the Allentown Art Museum,  Where there were two exhibitions of interest The Art for Church and Home that included a tiffany window that had a small light show.  There was a quilt exhibition that we never made it to.  Both Jim and my energy level were waning.  We decided to come home.  Neither of us went to the gym or washed the car yet.

We stopped to get iced coffee and then returned home to have a mid-afternoon snack.   We made plans for dinner.  Left over lasagna and salad.  Janis and I made plans to go to Aldi to get salad fixing after we had some quiet time.

It was also just about then the so called “storm” was starting.  It was a light rain but no Thunder or lightening. Sunshine was short-lived, as clouds came back by 7 and it rained most of the night.

Janis planned to attend the Sheep and Wool festival in New Milford, PA, but her friend canceled, so now everyone is doing their own thing.   I might need a nap since I stayed up late updating files and calendars.

Hey everyone .. another Random post.

Today starts the busy holiday travel.  I hope that if you do that, you are safe and enjoy.  Personally, I think many left earlier around here.

So my questions are:

Will you travel?

Where do you go?  Camping? Friends houses’ resorts beaches?

Do you work on Friday?  I am .   Next year it lands on Friday  so I may take Thursday off

Road Trip and Wedding weekend 10-02-21

Special activities:  Since Jim invited me to go to the firing range with the both of them I have been trying to find out where the local gun ranges are (without asking them).  There are at least three or four in Lehigh County.  Two are in a town called Coplay and the other is in Emmaus.  The other one is in Easton and I couldn’t imagine us going all the way back there.  All though during my research most of them have about the same amount of drive time for each of them.

It turned out that activity got put aside.  Janis and her sister Sharon made plans with a dear friend of theirs to meet up for Coffee this morning and ended up shopping.  This allowed me to sleep in a little bit longer and hang out in the room until my “breakfast” with Jim.

Jim had to work in the local campaign office for a couple of hours that morning so we met at the Panera bread restaurant near his house.  We each got something different.  I ended up getting chili and coffee.  I was kinda hungry by then.

Among the topics we discussed is our collective health.  I learned that several years ago he had two strokes. (it would explain a lot of things) and he will be going for some tests in a few months to further investigate whether or not he  has Parkinson's disease.  That scared me.  When he shared with me the moments he had lost his balance or how he had been walking or his movements.  It was definitely unsettling.  He will get his results after the tests.

We took a slow walk around Trexler Park near his home afterwards.  WHen I asked if we could walk he was confused as to why I would want to do that after just telling him I have been having breathing issues.  We both did it and it wasn’t so bad.  The scenery and weather helped to say the least.

After the walk we headed back to his place. I needed to use the bathroom and he had some stuff to do.  I got to meet Ruby, one of Janis’s kittens (senior cats actually).  I headed back to the house and relaxed and took a nap until about 4.  I had to be back over Jim and Janis’s by 5:30 for evening activities.

When it was time to go back I had no problem getting there.  We chatted for a bit and then left for my new Nephew’s apartment in Downtown Allentown.  It was in a fairly new and lovely complex called the Center Square Lofts.  He gave us a tour (it was a nice size for him).

We stayed for a couple of hours and had coffee and donuts.

WE then drove to DeSales University to the Lubuda Center where the Performing arts department was putting on Pride and Prejudice.  It was 34 minute ride to this place and even in the dark it was pretty big.  The play started by 8 and was done by 10 and we were home by 11.  We had carrot cake and chatted. After we finished the cake I headed back to Elena’s.

When I got there, there was cat near the door.  It looked like Elena’s but smaller.  So I opened the door and let it in.  it walked into the house towards the kitchen.  As he did that I looked at the sofa and there was house cat.  I went to catch the other one and shooed him out the door.  The house cat just watched the whole thing.

After that fun moment I went to my room.  I packed my things for the trip home the next morning.  The cat came upstairs and come to the bed.  It actually came and went throughout the night.

All in all it was a great day….

Road Trip & Wedding Day 10-1-21

 On the road by 9:30.

The cats are fed and watered and medicated.  Liz will handle tonight, tomorrow and Sunday morning.  This will be the first weekend away in two years (not counting Easter 2020).

For the last week I have been mulling over when was the best time to leave by using the google maps and scheduling and it gave a pretty good indication when I arrive if I leave before ten. My hope is to take the normal route I usually take to visit PA.  That includes the Merritt to 278 over the Cuomo Bridge (formerly Tappan Zee).  Then 78 to where my hostess is.  I took a brief stop there to see what it looked like then headed to Jim’s.  I was really early.

Admittedly I was concerned that Google was going to insist that I go to GW Bridge but it didn’t and took me over the route I remember over the years and once I was on on 287 I was fine.  I was surprised to find an additional electronic toll booth had been built and wasn’t expecting to be paying anymore  on the way down.  I do expect a couple of Toll by mail invoices arriving over the next few weeks.

I headed to Jim’s and was greeted by my soon SIL.  Who I didn’t recognize!  Really???  I was really embarrassed.  We hugged, chatted and from there got ready for the wedding.  I showered after Jim got my stuff out of the car.  The others got ready and visited with Jim.  I also got to see at least one of the kitties.

We left for the courthouse around 3.  We parked down the street in one of the many parking garages in the city.  I already regretted the shoes and stockings I chose for the outfit.  I learned that was also the location of Janis’s new Job.   She didn't’ give us a tour of the place but it's on the first floor.

We had to wait outside the courtroom and many more of their friends and family came out.  I got to see James R (my nephew).    We were brought inside and waited for a bit.  My niece emily arrived a little later and was standing in for her father while Janis’s daughter (who could have been Emily’s twin) stood for her.  It was a short ceremony and I only took a few pictures and asked the kids to send me some.

The weather: Beautiful and sunny.  Chilly at first and maintained it for most of the day. It was mostly in the sixties and sunshine.  It got a bit chillier as the sun dropped though.

After the ceremony we headed over to their friend Shawn’s home for the reception.  It was a beautiful home on W Tilghman and it was an oasis from the busy street out front.   It was light fare.  Sushi, pinwheel sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, shrimp tortellini, fruit and a home made cake.

We were there until 8 when I had received word it was time for me to check in.  My hostess was to go to a meeting (I realized later it was work) by 9:30.  I felt so much pressure and a little resentment for pushing it but looking back it was my own fault.  When I arrived the keys were outside where she said they would be.  It turned out she waited for me.  She helped me take my stuff to the room where I would be spending the next three days.  IT was quite simple.  A dresser, a wardrobe made of cloth.  A bed (the bed frame was exactly the same one I have in my bedroom.)

Once I got my stuff in and moved the car towards the front of the house Elan left for a meeting/work.  I got unpacked and got ready for bed. Elena’s kitty cat came and slept with me for the night.  It felt like I was home.

Thanksgiving 2019

I was expecting the weather to be cloudy, cold and very windy and it was as the day progressed.  It started off sunny and 45 degrees.  It was pretty much the same in Killingworth.  This is probably a good thing.  I have heard from friends across the country.  They did get snow and it ranged from 8 in to a total foot.

I baled on the gym in the morning despite the fact I saw A on FB.  So he knows I was online and despite the fact I promised I can’t.  I have things I wanted to do before the day got away.  So I met with A this week at our normal time.  Tuesday I was very tired and we talked about.  He reminded me that I am pre-Diabetic (something I may not have shared with the Doctors this week) and the reason I was tired because of the sugar and breads I have been having.  He suggested that I can no longer have desserts or sweets of any kind.  No breads either and this entire are going to be tough A did say he would allow me a smudging of stuffing and sliver of pie.  I graciously (I hope) turned it down and told him I would do my best to focus on the fruits and vegetables (moderation) and make best choices possible.  I have had some veggies this morning and had a protein drink.  I am running low but I will be picking some up when I do cardio (I baled on the class again).

I actually did pretty well (not too much fruit when we got there) I had water, lots of shrimp, and one crab cake before dinner.  The main meal was turkey, string beans, sweet potatoes, stuffing, and a couple of pieces of bread with butter.  I did have one piece of pie.

I did give myself some stress that I was trying to avoid and that was I was a little late getting to Liz’s.  I had been chatting with next door and didn’t know the time.  When I left I was running really late.  I tried calling her on her cell and she didn’t pick up.  As I got to the street I saw my brother in law leaving.  AT the time I didn’t realize he was going to the store until I followed him.  I thought he was taking a short cut.  I tried calling Liz one more time on the house phone and she was there.  Needless to say I was so frustrated with myself.  So I went back to their house and relaxed.  We chatted and then eventually left.

The ride up was okay even though the traffic was semi heavy.  Liz was driving but there was a debate on who was driving before we left.  Liz won.  The drive home was much better but was after five and dark.  We got back home by 6.

The afternoon was wonderful.  Liz did some activities with the kids and the rest of us watched football games.   I did spend some one on one time with Olivia.  She was so cute.  She sat with me in the family room during Nelson 3’s concert.  Everyone applauded but he needs more practice.  The food was delicious, the company was great.

Before going home Liz gave me her dresses that I may wear for the New Year’s Eve party and new pair of jeans.    I have to try them on to see if they fit.   I may have to find few accessories at Party city.

We were also discussing how to split up the cookies.  I need to know if we are putting them in little trays or what.  I think I have to make at least 8 dozen for these that means I may have to double the recipe.  I will definitely get the stuff this weekend.

On my way home I stopped at Wendy’s probably the only other place besides Cracker-barrel opened.  I had a cheeseburger and fries and then spent the evening watching LOTR-again.  I Stayed on the couch until Midnight.

I hope you all had a great one.

Heading Home

Today I head home. My flight is at 12:20 so we are leaving here around 10 for the airport.  I will bring home with me the memories of the last two weeks of the sights, sounds, people. I have crossed paths with.

I hope to come back again next year and see the things we missed.  Like the Hoover dam and maybe find better hikes.

I also go home with a renewed sense of purpose to maybe change some things in my life that need adjustment.

I love the fact my boarding pass is now on my phone.  I thought I would need to have a special app for it and I don't.

I understand I will be heading home to cold and rain.  A Nor'easter is heading off the coast of CT. Hopefully this will not adversely affect the drive home from the airport.  I am pretty sure I will be ready to see my cats.

I haven't been away from them this long before.  It definitely be funny to see what happens.

Last Day of My Adventure

Today is my last full day of my adventures in Las Vegas.  I wasn't expecting much except to prepare for the flight home tomorrow. That changed after last night's meet up.

We were invited to another game Mexican train at Einstein bagels at 1.  It will be in likelihood our dinner as well.

We will be leaving here around 10 and have to get a check up for one of the cars first.

Then tonight last minute laundry. I will also print out the boarding pass and then bed for me.  I haven't been sleeping all that well lately. As a matter of fact I wrote this at 4 in the morning.  I had an alarm set for seven so I could get my walk in before the day started. I woke up late.

I received my schedule for Bingo this month.  I am doing Bingo at 10:30 in the morning on the 7th and my regular time on Easter Sunday.  Which means whatever plans I did have got boggled.

It was about that time I also got my appointment confirmations for this week for the infusion and the dermatologist later on in the week.

Happily we didn't have to wait long for the car to be serviced.  We had a late breakfast at Bagelmania. The spinach omelette egg white was delicious

After breakfast we killed some time at Freyes electronics.  That store is huge.

Soon we were heading to the Mexican train Meetup.

On the way there I got my check in email for my flight.  I was a little unsure on how to do it by the phone but it wasn't hard at all the boarding pass is now in my email.  I am glad because I want to save paper.

The Mexican train was fun two tables like last night.  Met some new people and recognized others I have met early this week.

I  had some coffee and chocolate croissant. I expect that the coffee will kick in later.

We got back home by 4:30.  I made a call to big bro and took a nap.

The rest of the night quiet.

Hoover Dam

Sunday was beautiful and chilly.  It's sunny and watching the planes making their final approach while on my morning walk was very cool.  The walk was about a mile and half and met some other residents that were on their walk. This walk helped me get to 3K steps already.

Today we are headed up to the Hoover Dam and explore it.  I was looking forward to seeing this awesome piece of history.  That is until we couldn't take the tour until I got rid of the trail mix I just bought in their gift shop.  When they say no food they mean no food! Even if its in prepackaged and unopened you can not take it in the tour with you.  They said we could take it back to our car but we parked on the Arizona side of the dam. It was a little far and time consuming so we ended up just walking back to the car and heading out to lunch.

We headed to Fox  Smokehouse BBQ it is in Boulder City NV and it was in a small shopping mall (I think it was the only building actually) and quite busy for a Sunday afternoon.  We ate inside once we got a table (we waited outside and chatted with some locals). I had the BBQ chicken and soda. While the others had brisket and fried onion rings.  The restaurant makes it a policy they remain open until 7 unless the food runs out and that’s exactly what happened the previous night.

After lunch we headed to the store and got some groceries (we had time before our game night at Jason’s Deli).  We headed to Jason’s Deli in Henderson I believe where we would be meeting up some friends and play some games and have dinner.  I wasn’t too hungry so I had coffee. Met some great people and we played (what else?) Mexican Train until 9. We said goodbye to others and headed home to relax.

Lake Mead

Today we went  back to Lake Mead. We stopped at the visitors center.  There was video narrated by Actress Stockard Channing about the lake and its importance to the ecosystem.

We were looking for a restaurant and was in the marina.  We found one and had lunch. We also did some people watching.

We decided to head back to the house to relax before going to Primm NV.  We are going to listen to a band there. It is at 7:30. The invite came from a couple we met at a meetup last week.  The husband is friends with a band member and wanted us to join them at the Buffalo Bills casino and hotel.  We Left by 6:00
When we got home I did some laundry and made some calls and sent some emails.  All trying to relax for a bit. Also did some organization on the computer.

The place is expansive and has a monorail between BB and whiskey Pete and Primm casino resort.  Not overly crowded for a Saturday night.

The band we went to see is called Sin City 4.  They were great. Rock and roll. Being here reminded me of the sister act and road house Movies.

WE got home by 10 and I was getting into bed after that.

The Vegas Strip

Well I can actually say I was at the Vegas Strip.  We got there just about midday and spent four hours there.  M jokingly says we spent nearly an hour in traffic just to find a free self parking garage.  The traffic on the strip is always “bad”. But the views and the activity sure makes up for it.

We finally found a parking space in the Treasure Island casino and hotel garage and from there headed out to find lunch and to head out to the Flamingo HOtel Habitat.  We looked around in the TI for lunch first but didn’t see anything so we had lunch at the Carnegie Deli and Restaurant in the Mirage.  Where i had the biggest Reuben Sandwich known to man.  To me it was also the most expensive. It was open-faced and almost $25.  Include the drink and tip it came to $31 and change. I couldn’t finish it so I brought what was left home.  It was good I was walking the strip. My entire body felt it.

I think the Mirage also has a Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat but we missed it but did see a huge aquarium behind the registration desk.  The Mirage was expansive too. Walked by the front of it (I am guessing) where there were all kinds of Ducks and birds and I saw a baby duck it was so cute.

I am sure anyone knows the girls from the casinos are all dressed (or not dressed depending on your definition) outside their respective casinos to get pictures.  We didn’t take that opportunity. Personally I didn’t want to shell out the money for it. I did that once when taking a carriage ride through Central Park (and some kid wanted to take a polaroid of us for $20) my friend and the driver tried hard to have me not do that.

As we made our way to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino to the Habitat we went through a couple of other casinos like Margaritaville and I am not sure what else.  I was focusing on not falling to the ground as my legs and feet were getting tired. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long.

I have no idea how we got to the Habitat once we got to the Flamingo but it was beautiful.  There were tropical Parrots, a variety of fish, and other wild ducks and of course the flamingos.  I took as many pictures as I could. There was a wedding going on near the pool that has general admissions to the public.

Soon it was time to head back to the car and up to Henderson.  On our walk back M stopped a couple of times to do some gambling.  R and I went to the Starbucks and I got some much needed coffee. White chocolate a Medium was $6 and change.

We got to Henderson around 6 to our friend J and Petunia (a cute fluffy and friendly pup)  and had Chinese food and another fun night of Mexican Train.  In the background was the Golden Knights Hockey game (they lost the game but still made it to the next round) and music I  had heard in quite some time.

The games finished by 10 and we were heading home by 10:30.  We got home by 11 and I was in bed shortly after that.

I did hear from my family (daily check in) and found out my brother had fallen and so I will be checking in with him tomorrow.  My sister sent me wonderful pictures of her grandchildren and I was thrilled with it

I made transportation arrangements from my flight for Tuesday.  It didn’t take long and the girl was quite helpful.

Springs Preserve

Today we are heading to Springs Preserve  It is a huge place owned and operated by the Las Vegas Water District to provide a place of fun and education in way to live with the desert.  There are lots to do. We didn’t walk the outdoor trails but there are plenty of things to do inside to learn about sustainability and it was quite interesting.  They also have a little town that was Las Vegas before it became the spectacle it is today. We were there for hours.

Later on in the day we headed to the Rio for a presentation on Holocaust Survivors and we got to meet families and survivors of the Holocaust..  M’s Parents were survivors. There was a dinner we didn’t know about but we got to sit with children from local schools that were learning about it earlier in the day.  We had dinner prior to it. It was very interesting.

We got home by 8 and relaxed.  I didn’t make it to my 12000 steps but I do know I did a lot of walking and my legs and lower body were rebelling.  We spent the next couple of hours watching TV.

The weather was nice and sunny and it got to the low 70’s (74)  It is expected to get to 71 today BAck home it is predicted to be in the low to  mid 50’s and possible chance for rain. So glad I am not going to be there yet. It will be like that when I get back too.

I had a full on cheeseburger at one of the restaurants at the Rio Casino It makes the Double Whopper weak.  But the onions they use stays with me (not unlike garlic usually does). I know I will have to pull triple duty today to get back on target.

I continue to keep in touch with family back home.  Tried my nephew again but not much luck there. May just need to text him.

Went to the movies

Haven't finished yesterday’s log yet but today was a semi quiet day.  We had to pick up M’s car from the shop and then we headed to a mall so I could get my steps in.   We did about 2000 there and had lunch at Rubio’s Mexican Restaurant and I had their California Bowl.  That had rice and beans and guacamole and shrimp.

Around 2 we headed to South Park Casino and hotel and went to the movies.  First I had to get one of those cards that gives you discounts and such. We went to the Cinemark and get tickets to see Captain Marvel.  The price of the tickets came to $12 for all three of us.

As in all theaters you had various promos, trailers, and ads for everything but there are number of movies I definitely want to see over the next several months.  I won’t spoil it for any of you who haven’t seen the movie but I will say there are some great surprises and explains a few things about different characters. It was a lot of fun.

Afterwards we ambled around before dinner.  M did some gambling and R & I walked around and into the Bowling Alley where there was a tourney going on.  We met up and headed to the Garden Buffet for Prime Rib special. $19. There was everything else. I had a lot of Prime rib and sides of various vegetables, and a salad and shrimp.  WE also had dessert. My first real dessert. Nothing was tagged well in the dessert section but it was everywhere else.

We came home a short time later and relaxed.  We have made tentative plans for tomorrow that included a Holocaust Meeting at one of the casinos.  During that time I had to recharge my phone and then walked on the treadmill for the last 3000 steps for the day.  I started the day with a walk and will end with a walk soon.

I have been keeping in touch with my family back home and also talked my friend in FL.  She is doing well and keeping busy.

The weather is vastly different back home from here.  It was in the 40’s today and as I just checked it was in the high 30’s.

No Major Plans

It's 12:30 am Tuesday.  I am starting my second week in LV.  We just got home from an evening at the Freemont Street experience.  It was amazing.

We parked and started our night El Cortez.  We walked through part of the experience to get to Tony Roma's for dinner.  I had the Chicken Mojo. There was so much I had to bring it home. We spent the next several hours split up.  M did some gambling and R and I enjoyed the music and the walk and window shopping. The Light show was awesome and going every hour on the hour.  The Zip line users were over head and I am telling you I would be screaming the entire time!

We made a quick stop at the store for my fruit and yogurt and a card for my co worker Michele who had lost her sister after a short illness.

We made it to the Exploration Peak Park...we did the mile long loop around the park.  I was slightly disappointed because we couldn’t really find the start of the other trails that really turned out to be too much (and in not shaded).

We had dinner and a quiet night afterwards.....

The Lion Habitat

The Lion Habitat is only opened a short time daily.  It used to be in the middle of nowhere in Henderson but as is everywhere else developers are building more and more communities around it.  We got there a little before 11 when it opened and there was already a line of cars.

There is small parking area and then you enter the ticket office that looks like construction trailer and hopefully has AC during the hotter months.  Before we could purchase tickets we had to sign waivers of responsibility. In it we also to tell them if we belonged to any animal rights organizations which only tells they have had their issues with them.

Once the tickets were bought we all met at the emu cage and were taken on a tour by a really awesome tour guide who explained everything between being trained and the care of these animals.  We saw about seven or eight lions some who were directly related to the original MGM Lion (yeah him Leo). There are also birds of all kinds and a famous Painting Giraffe named Ozzy. The whole tour took 90 minutes.  We met several of the newcomers and they were nice. They were heading to lunch at the M but we had other plans.

We had other plans but were cancelled at the last minute.  It was a Mexican Train Meetup that had to be cancelled due to unforeseen issues so we had lunch at Jack in the Box and did some errands.

Tonight we are going to Freemont Street Experience and I am told it is one not to miss.  We parked at the cortex and went to a light show. It was recommended that I don't get upset by the atmosphere there.

Tag Sales and Meetups

Today was all about Yard Sales and Meetups.  This morning the large “neighborhood” my friends live in are having a huge Yard Sale and it's not a rinky dink activity this development is a rather large one at that (at least I think so).  We drove around to the indicated places on a map looked and couldn’t find anything worth buying that is.

We then headed back towards the house making a few stops to a small park and walked around.  It was about half a mile and called the Rose Park.

We then headed towards the Silverton with the idea in mind ot have lunch.  We tried going to Cracker Barrel that was near the Silverton but there was an hour long wait.  So we tried one of the restaurants in the Silverton. It was the Sundance Grill. My friends had a hamburger and calamari while Surf and turf.  Unfortunately part of the turf was fried shrimp. So I had my asparagus, and salad. The whole meal came to $59 (including tip). It was fun and on top of that we go to see the Mermaid Tank.

By then we headed home to get ready for the Happy Hour Meetup at The Martinis restaurant in the North Summerlin Neighborhood of Las Vegas.  I met a lot of nice people all retired from the respective jobs.  From all over the country they all moved out here because they were tired of the weather in respective locales.

We had wings, and soda and really great conversation.  We left around 7 and were home by 8. We relaxed for a while.  I tried to watch TV for a while and then got tired and headed to bed.  I was thinking the pollen was getting bad again.

Unfortunately didn’t make my daily 12000 steps goal.  Mama encouraged me to use the treadmill but I would have be preferred to walk outside but by then I was too tired.  It will be different tomorrow. We are going to Overton NV tomorrow.

Red Rock Canyon

The day started off pretty cool at 48 degrees and very sunny.  I was looking forward to the temperatures going into the 70’s for the hike into Red Rock Canyon.

Before we went though  we had to do some errands in the same area.  They wanted to meet with their attorney for stuff.  So I kept myself busy. I went to a coffee shop called Leone  Cafe and had breakfast. It was quite a busy place and I got an egg white Asparagus Omelet with a salad. I thought it was strange to include a salad with breakfast but what do I know the other options were things I couldn’t have.  I had coffee with it. I sat out on the patio and did some people watching. The meal came to $12. 99. It was still a bit cool but nice.

IF you need to go to a public restroom you will need to go down the street into another building.  Where the Lawyer’s office is located. I learned that this Business center that included a wide range of stores and restaurants and offices all had an underground parking facility that you could access from any location.

I was thoroughly pleased to see a bakery called CupKates by Kate.  Just what I need!!!   I showed great restraint by not going in the store but I did take a picture of it!!!

When my friends finished their errand we met up at the cafe and they had a late morning breakfast.  We chatted about stuff and then headed to Red Rock Canyon.

Red Rock Canyon is 20 miles west of Summerlin. It is a Nature Conservatory and has many vistas and things to do.  OF course you can pay for the day or for a pass which allows you many things. We attempted one of the trails and couldn't do it.  Some of the trails were widespread and all over the place. We decided to drive the scenic loop and look around that way. So my attempts at the hikes were not fulfilled.  Neither was my daily steps goal. I did get to see a couple of people try to round up two goats which was very cool.

The Visitors Center is hosting a Naturalization Ceremony tomorrow and anyone could attend.  We have made other plans but it would have been very cool. It was to be held in their outdoor amphitheater

When we finished the scenic drive we went back into the Visitors center to look around.  There were so many nice things from T-shirts, books, clothings and Media . WE then went to a late lunch.

It was at Sweet Tomatoes.  A Salad bar that was very interesting you could only go once so you had to fill up on what you wanted.  There were 8 fresh soups and chili made daily. They had breads, desserts, and fruit. The price is fairly reasonable $9.

We headed out to Albertson’s to get some snacks for tonight’s Mexican Train at their friend J’s home.  She is in a Senior Living complex that’s very beautiful. She has a cute dog named Petunia and loves attention.  We played until 10. We chatted for a bit before going home.
As we were driving home the night time views were just as beautiful.  You could see the Las Vegas Strip from where we were. It was awesome.

We got home about 11 and I got ready for bed.  We had to be up by 9 in the morning for the Development’s neighborhood yard sale.

Purim Party

It is early in the morning I haven’t gone walking yet.  Decided to sleep in longer after going to bed so late yesterday.  Today we went to a Purim Party in Summerlin.  It was held at Community Center and with People that Mama met and apparently knew through other associations it was so funny.  There was some refreshments and (and I ate the fresh fruit and had coffee).

Afterwards we we went to a Bagel cafe.  I had ordered tossed Salad and huge bowl of chili.  The chili filled me up so I couldn’t eat the salad but saved it for a dinner tonight.  It was delicious and the restaurant was great and locate in one of the many Shopping centers all around the city and area.

Afterwards we headed to the Summerlin Cottonwood Canyon trail which is located near a senior Center near another shopping center.  There are plenty of shopping centers every 1000 feet or so. We only did a half mile walk on it but it is supposedly much longer. Very good for bikers, dog walkers,  and slow people like myself. We made a quick pit stop at the said Senior Center and then headed home.

We took the highway 215 as it was getting late and close to the end of the work day.  Happily the sun had been out for a couple of hours by then and made the scenery vibrant and beautiful.  If I had been tired prior I wasn’t. THe walk and the scenery was rejuvenating.

We took a tour of the rest of the development before coming back to the house.  We had dinner at home and then R and I took an hour long walk in the outer rim of the development.  We checked the internet while M watched a show from Netflix.

I did call my nephew in CO but he hasn’t returned my call.  I would imagine he was working. I hope he will call me so we can chat.  I did send a message to Jim to let him know because I only heard from him earlier this morning.

Sent text to K back home and to Sis...

Then did some laundry.

I spent about 30 minutes on the treadmill and made my 12000.  I had already sent an email to AW for the food logs and an hour earlier so I wanted to make sure I had done the 12000.  By the time I got to bed i had done 200 more.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
