Lake Mead

Today we went  back to Lake Mead. We stopped at the visitors center.  There was video narrated by Actress Stockard Channing about the lake and its importance to the ecosystem.

We were looking for a restaurant and was in the marina.  We found one and had lunch. We also did some people watching.

We decided to head back to the house to relax before going to Primm NV.  We are going to listen to a band there. It is at 7:30. The invite came from a couple we met at a meetup last week.  The husband is friends with a band member and wanted us to join them at the Buffalo Bills casino and hotel.  We Left by 6:00
When we got home I did some laundry and made some calls and sent some emails.  All trying to relax for a bit. Also did some organization on the computer.

The place is expansive and has a monorail between BB and whiskey Pete and Primm casino resort.  Not overly crowded for a Saturday night.

The band we went to see is called Sin City 4.  They were great. Rock and roll. Being here reminded me of the sister act and road house Movies.

WE got home by 10 and I was getting into bed after that.

The Vegas Strip

Well I can actually say I was at the Vegas Strip.  We got there just about midday and spent four hours there.  M jokingly says we spent nearly an hour in traffic just to find a free self parking garage.  The traffic on the strip is always “bad”. But the views and the activity sure makes up for it.

We finally found a parking space in the Treasure Island casino and hotel garage and from there headed out to find lunch and to head out to the Flamingo HOtel Habitat.  We looked around in the TI for lunch first but didn’t see anything so we had lunch at the Carnegie Deli and Restaurant in the Mirage.  Where i had the biggest Reuben Sandwich known to man.  To me it was also the most expensive. It was open-faced and almost $25.  Include the drink and tip it came to $31 and change. I couldn’t finish it so I brought what was left home.  It was good I was walking the strip. My entire body felt it.

I think the Mirage also has a Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat but we missed it but did see a huge aquarium behind the registration desk.  The Mirage was expansive too. Walked by the front of it (I am guessing) where there were all kinds of Ducks and birds and I saw a baby duck it was so cute.

I am sure anyone knows the girls from the casinos are all dressed (or not dressed depending on your definition) outside their respective casinos to get pictures.  We didn’t take that opportunity. Personally I didn’t want to shell out the money for it. I did that once when taking a carriage ride through Central Park (and some kid wanted to take a polaroid of us for $20) my friend and the driver tried hard to have me not do that.

As we made our way to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino to the Habitat we went through a couple of other casinos like Margaritaville and I am not sure what else.  I was focusing on not falling to the ground as my legs and feet were getting tired. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long.

I have no idea how we got to the Habitat once we got to the Flamingo but it was beautiful.  There were tropical Parrots, a variety of fish, and other wild ducks and of course the flamingos.  I took as many pictures as I could. There was a wedding going on near the pool that has general admissions to the public.

Soon it was time to head back to the car and up to Henderson.  On our walk back M stopped a couple of times to do some gambling.  R and I went to the Starbucks and I got some much needed coffee. White chocolate a Medium was $6 and change.

We got to Henderson around 6 to our friend J and Petunia (a cute fluffy and friendly pup)  and had Chinese food and another fun night of Mexican Train.  In the background was the Golden Knights Hockey game (they lost the game but still made it to the next round) and music I  had heard in quite some time.

The games finished by 10 and we were heading home by 10:30.  We got home by 11 and I was in bed shortly after that.

I did hear from my family (daily check in) and found out my brother had fallen and so I will be checking in with him tomorrow.  My sister sent me wonderful pictures of her grandchildren and I was thrilled with it

I made transportation arrangements from my flight for Tuesday.  It didn’t take long and the girl was quite helpful.

On My Way

Well after having last minute change s to ride to the airport.    I am I'm on my way. What were the changes? CT Limo called me at 11 Monday morning to tell me they didn’t have a driver or vehicle and would have to cancel my reservation and refund me money.  I was annoyed. I called them back and told them I would never use their service again. I had to call Liz and let her know. I left a message but she didn’t get it but when I called her a second time we discussed that and caught up with each other.  So I called Hy’s Livery and got door to door service for 4 am this morning. I should have done that from the start.

I slept on the couch and managed to get up without issues.  I got ready and spent time with the kitties.

The ride to NY was fine.  There was some traffic due to the bridge reconstruction but we got to the airport in fairly good time.  Checked the luggage in at curbside for $3. You can do this by credit or debit. Tip can be cash.

Checked the boarding pass then went through the TSA lines and it seemed to move fairly quickly even with all the people there.  Got through the line and gathered my things and then headed to the Gate.

I found a less expensive coffee shop that had all kinds of food just before the gate.  I got a coffee and Strawberry chobani. I think it came to $6. I went and found a seat and ate.  Chatted with a few people sitting next to me going to San Lucia (the flight before mine). After chatting with them and they had to leave I took a walk to the window to take a picture of the skyline.  Chatted with other passengers and also sent some texts and posts to FB.

Boarding time was just about 7:25.  It was pretty quick and easy. As soon as I got to my seat I settled in and began dozing through all the pertinent announcements.  I could still hear them on some level.. Woke up long enough to watch the plane take off at 8:20.

AT 21344 Feet.  They began serving snacks and food.  Some of the offerings were expensive.  What the hell is Chia seed pudding? I would have had some protein snacks but they too were $9.  The free snacks were not an option.

By 10 of 9 were at 31368 feet and in the distance could see the land below and it was very cool indeed.

T was fortunate that there were only two people in the seats me and this other gentlemen. He was watching TV for a while and then fell asleep.  I spent the time trying hard to do puzzles but I ended up sleeping as much as I could.

We were scheduled to arrive in LV at 10:30 it turned out to be 11:30.  I tried a few times to let Mama know but it didn’t work until I was on the ground.  I was certain the time change would confuse me.

There were three women sitting behind us and they talked about working out and I had to smile.  They were actually pretty loud for a long while and even woke up my seat companion. I shared with them about working out.  I was glad they fell asleep because I was starting to get a headache.

Shortly after 11 the flight map came up on the screen in front of me and it was indicating we were over South Dakota and I looked out the window and it looked like there was still snow on the ground.

Around 12:15 Eastern (9 am pT) time we were over Wyoming and I was finally able to go to the lavatory.  I was afraid to wake the nice man up but he said next not to wait. I made several attempts to send messages to various platforms but they didn’t work and I had to wait until we landed.  The phone was beginning to lose power by then too. I couldn’t charge it anywhere around there.

We landed at 11:30 local time.  Got the luggage without any problems and contacted Mama and Papa.  I couldn’t find them at first but I finally did and we headed to a restaurant.

The scenery on the way to the restaurant was beautiful.  We could see Mt Charleston with snow on it. The restaurant was Our Families Country Cafe.  Mama and Papa had breakfast and I had lunch.  After Lunch we came home.

They took me on a tour of their neighborhood/development.  It is beautiful. Their home is beautiful. We relaxed for the next several hours watching a movie 2018’s  Interview with God.  It was great.  We followed that up with a few episodes of DS9.

It was about 4 or 4:30 when we decided to go for dinner.  We went to Krazy Buffet. It is a An Asian all you can eat buffet.  there are two of them but we went to the one on Rainbow BLVD in Las Vegas.  It was half hour North of Mama and Papa's house. I had mostly seafood, some I listed on my food log as *chinese buffet*.  Coconut Shrimp, Teriyaki chicken, Crabs, shrimp and vegetables, Steamed sea bass. I had green tea and one fortune cookie.

On the way home we could see the strip lit up and it was awesome.  We saw some more developments all lit up but the night time traffic not so much.  They pointed out a hiking trail that I will like to try out this week. I don’t know if we can tomorrow.

Not sure what is on the schedule tomorrow but some of the things I did hear are the Mob museum, Lion reserve, a Mexican train game or two, a meetup or two (meals).

I have done 3909 steps so far and I need to do more so I need to go and do it before I start sleep walking.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
