Happy Birthday Dad

Yesterday  would have been my Dad’s 91st birthday.I sometimes wonder what he would have been like if he had been healthier (multiple illnesses).  He still had some daily demons that he dealt with but he was a good man to me.  I wonder if he would be suffering from alzheimer's, or would he be fine?  Or would it not make a difference.  Really things that in the grand scheme of reality doesn’t matter he isn’t here but I do think of him often. I can’t believe July is over.  One month from yesterday is my birthday (I always considered myself a belated birthday gift for Dad).  I will be the speed limit.  This year is going by fast ( it always does this time of year).   The first two weeks of August will be a little busy for me.  Some of it is health related (doctor’s appointments, and infusions, and some procedures-crown inputting).  The rest will be entertainment and fun stuff.  Volunteering will always be part of it. Relaxing Saturday Night

It has been a few hours since I wrote and in that time I managed to clean out the car and go to church and have dinner and almost done with folding clothes. In a short while will go to bed. Cleaning out the car took about an hour or less. I thought it was too hot to haul out the behemoth vacuum cleaner and the little one was not enough power so I might do it tomorrow in between activities. There is a box of old parts from the engine (can someone please tell me why they would leave it there?) that I need to dump some where. I am thinking a dumpster. Mom and I went to the 4:00 mass at St John Vianney in West Haven. It is a really nice church and it has good feeling from it. The church is a modern type church and has been around a good long time. In 2002 it merged with Our Lady of Victory Church in effort to save it from closing completely. Many churches in the Connecticut Diocese are still in danger of closing. You can read the very interesting history of both churches in the link ab...

I ended up with a migraine

It came during Bingo I guess. The brightness of the day didn’t help either but it got worse as the day progressed and after church I came home and took some ibuprofen. Note to self: it’s not as good as Extra Strength Tylenol. I ate breakfast and then an hour later I lay across the bed and slept for an hour. It was 2 and then there it is. I got sick. When that happens it means I am starting to feel better. It helps also to take a bath. I did take some more Extra Strength to make sure it was gone and for the rest of the day I eased up on the food. We heard from Jim today he is doing very well. He likes his new job as hired driver. Mom and he talked about “the situation” with Liz. While I only heard from this side of the conversation I was worried that Mom was trying to control them to get them to talk or whatever. She did tell me that she pointed out the problems between them he is partly to blame. I did find myself realizing that I need to stay out of what ever Mom needs to do to m...

It was beautiful out today

Aw man you should have been here in Milford today. It was absolutely beautiful today. It was sunny and in the mid to upper 40’s today. I think it was in the 30’s at the beginning of the day and when I started for Mediplex it was a bit chilly but when I came off the highway after church the sign read “44 degrees” when we drove by it again later on it read 47. That’s almost 50 degrees. I even went without a coat for a short time. Today went well despite the fact there were some annoying moments with Mom but I will get into that later. When I left here in the morning Mom asked me about an email with information about the benefits of Bingo or something. She wanted me to share with Natalie. I haven’t yet. She started to criticize and get all pouty because I didn’t. This didn’t bode well for me and I knew it. When I came back from Bingo/church she wanted to make her weekly complaints. The first was not rinsing one of the containers before putting it in the dishwasher. The second was leaving ...

Crazy Day

Hey this is going to be a short entry tonight as I have laundry to do and things that need doing before I get to bed. Besides I am working tomorrow for some hours and I need to get rested. Things at work are pretty much the same as yesterday tense and testy. I understand that Sue R was yelled at by her boss and as a result Sue has been riding everyone else. She barely talked with me and I know I kept busy and got the mail mostly done. I have just one pile to do and I will do that on Tuesday. I heard from Liz today. She wanted to know the name of my hair cutters place I gave it to her and the number. WE talked about the pictures and how I could get copies. I still will probably have to pay for them. We had the birthday party for Niamba today. WE had pizza instead of wings and of course ice cream and cake. As always it was delicious and filling. All but 2 bills are paid. They are the payment for Debra and the Silkies pantyhose. They will both be paid by the time I go to bed. O...

Today is Dad's Birthday

Today is Dad's 81st Birthday. We don't usually do anything for it. At least I don't think Mom does. She probably does what I do. "Oh today is Dad's Birthday". I don't know if Bob, Jim, or Liz do much either. He has been gone from us for 18 years. I don't think Mom goes to the Cemetary to visit his grave unless she is there for someone else. I seem to recall that Bob would go and place flowres or even keep up the marker. We all have different memories of my father some of them good and some not so good. I don't go to the cemetary because there are pictures of him all over the house and I have my memories of him. I had a chance to talk to Mom while I was originally typing this. She says she didn't sleep well but not sure why she didn't. Today she is going to work on the cellar doors and then make dinner and then go to her meeting. It is a meeting she is not enjoying it. Annette C thinks she may have whooping cough and has given it to us......
