Super Moon

Image
Well Good morning did everyone catch the last super moon of 2020 last night?   I was able to and it was beautiful.   I took this right around 9:30 or so.               I just read the next one is supposed to be in 2034.    I will be 72 at the time.   I don’t want to be maudlin but who knows if I will even be around especially with my health.   I also believe that the way this universe has been changing we will see it again.   AT least I would like to think so.   So it would seem I am not the only one with random friendship requests on Social media.      Several of my friends and associates have had it happen over recent days.   I don’t mean the ones that FB suggests but the ones that out and out seek you out on their own.   I am not sure if I should feel relieved or angry that I am not the only one this happening to. I was telling next door how I have enjoyed watching th...

I was just sitting here thinking

I was just sitting here thinking this week went by quickly.   This time last week I was doing the Finding Friends Trivia night and shoving an exorbitant amount of onion rings in my pie hole.   That started my unhealthy weekend and eventual trip to the hospital on Sunday. There were somethings I missed writing about at least a few times this week.   First off my Good Friday post (I was doing a lot of fasting that day had no choice) then subsequently noticing the little things that went on around the neighborhood. We had a couple of Canadian Geese visit the neighborhood earlier this week.   They were here over two days at a few times.   It’s been a while since they did that but I suspect it had to do with the river outback rising from the storm Monday night. Then I noticed that the young couple at the head of the street putting up a beautiful new fence.   I can’t remember the last time that house had a fence.   Probably when I was small and...

Hoover Dam

Sunday was beautiful and chilly.  It's sunny and watching the planes making their final approach while on my morning walk was very cool.  The walk was about a mile and half and met some other residents that were on their walk. This walk helped me get to 3K steps already. Today we are headed up to the Hoover Dam and explore it.  I was looking forward to seeing this awesome piece of history.  That is until we couldn't take the tour until I got rid of the trail mix I just bought in their gift shop.  When they say no food they mean no food! Even if its in prepackaged and unopened you can not take it in the tour with you.  They said we could take it back to our car but we parked on the Arizona side of the dam. It was a little far and time consuming so we ended up just walking back to the car and heading out to lunch. We headed to Fox  Smokehouse BBQ it is in Boulder City NV and it was in a small shopping mall (I think it was the only building actua...

Lake Mead

Today we went  back to Lake Mead. We stopped at the visitors center.  There was video narrated by Actress Stockard Channing about the lake and its importance to the ecosystem. We were looking for a restaurant and was in the marina.  We found one and had lunch. We also did some people watching. We decided to head back to the house to relax before going to Primm NV.  We are going to listen to a band there. It is at 7:30. The invite came from a couple we met at a meetup last week.  The husband is friends with a band member and wanted us to join them at the Buffalo Bills casino and hotel .  We Left by 6:00 When we got home I did some laundry and made some calls and sent some emails.  All trying to relax for a bit. Also did some organization on the computer. The place is expansive and has a monorail between BB and whiskey Pete and Primm casino resort.  Not overly crowded for a Saturday night. The band we went to see is called Sin City ...

The Vegas Strip

Well I can actually say I was at the Vegas Strip.  We got there just about midday and spent four hours there.  M jokingly says we spent nearly an hour in traffic just to find a free self parking garage.  The traffic on the strip is always “bad”. But the views and the activity sure makes up for it.   We finally found a parking space in the Treasure Island casino and hotel garage and from there headed out to find lunch and to head out to the Flamingo HOtel Habitat.  We looked around in the TI for lunch first but didn’t see anything so we had lunch at the Carnegie Deli and Restaurant in the Mirage.  Where i had the biggest Reuben Sandwich known to man.  To me it was also the most expensive. It was open-faced and almost $25.  Include the drink and tip it came to $31 and change. I couldn’t finish it so I brought what was left home.  It was good I was walking the strip. My entire body felt it. I think the Mirage also has a Secret Garden a...

Springs Preserve

Today we are heading to Springs Preserve  It is a huge place owned and operated by the Las Vegas Water District to provide a place of fun and education in way to live with the desert.  There are lots to do. We didn’t walk the outdoor trails but there are plenty of things to do inside to learn about sustainability and it was quite interesting.  They also have a little town that was Las Vegas before it became the spectacle it is today. We were there for hours. Later on in the day we headed to the Rio for a presentation on Holocaust Survivors and we got to meet families and survivors of the Holocaust..  M’s Parents were survivors. There was a dinner we didn’t know about but we got to sit with children from local schools that were learning about it earlier in the day.  We had dinner prior to it. It was very interesting. We got home by 8 and relaxed.  I didn’t make it to my 12000 steps but I do know I did a lot of walking and my legs and lower body we...

Red Rock Canyon

The day started off pretty cool at 48 degrees and very sunny.  I was looking forward to the temperatures going into the 70’s for the hike into Red Rock Canyon. Before we went though  we had to do some errands in the same area.  They wanted to meet with their attorney for stuff.  So I kept myself busy. I went to a coffee shop called Leone  Cafe and had breakfast. It was quite a busy place and I got an egg white Asparagus Omelet with a salad. I thought it was strange to include a salad with breakfast but what do I know the other options were things I couldn’t have.  I had coffee with it. I sat out on the patio and did some people watching. The meal came to $12. 99. It was still a bit cool but nice. IF you need to go to a public restroom you will need to go down the street into another building.  Where the Lawyer’s office is located. I learned that this Business center that included a wide range of stores and restaurants and offices all had ...

A beautiful Saturday

It has been a beautiful Saturday all around.  The temperatures started off in the low 40’s and rose to low 50’s.  There was a cool breeze to make it feel like spring was coming but there was some moments that it got windy,  It's kind of cloudy now but not expecting rain I don’t think. It's been a regular Saturday morning.  This time though ordered the Biales for Mama and will pick them up on monday around noon.  I can put them in my backpack for the plane.  I sent message that it was done and later in the day they sent thanks. Went to the gym.  It was tough.  Today was also the last challenge group class for the fitness challenge.  We had pictures and you can find them on FB. I am sure.  I looked pathetic.  After the classes I went to the pharmacy and picked up the prescriptions and came home and relaxed for awhile.  At Noon I returned for the session with Alex.  We still did inbody even though I weighed in earlier ...

I believe I saw

The snow was lovely this morning.   The streets were already plowed and the sidewalks looked like they were plowed.   The temps got into the mid-40s and snow was melting all morning.   It will continue until the temps drop to thirty overnight.     The snow will be gone by Wednesday according to the weather reports.   The rain tomorrow should help it if it doesn’t get really cold.   It looks like we will have rain for most of the week. It’s funny when I saw the report that we could see snow well into spring.   I figured it was for the entire country.   I should have read further.   I bet it was for the mountains in the Midwest to West coast.   Maybe we won’t get any more snow.   Over the years we have had snow well into April.   I think I saw a Golden Eagle today.   It was spotted in the Marsh over the Oyster River out back by the stores.   It flew over to the beach and back over the house.   I...

Ended up

Because I wasn’t feeling well last Thursday night  and the lack of sleep from it I barely did anything Friday.  I did some laundry, cleaned out one of the litter boxes, emptied the dishwasher only to fill it up again.   I made myself an early lunch of steak and potato and had yogurt.  I was not anxious to eat too much as my shoulder still hurt. I think the aches and pains are from the amount of cheese I had in the last couple of days.     I fell asleep for the afternoon watching the X Men double feature.   I did fold some of the clothes and sheets and put more laundry in.  You are probably wondering where all these clothes are coming from.  Some of them have been there a few days and needed refreshing.   When I didn’t fold the clothes I watched TV.  I actually sat through Hawaii 5-0 haven’t done that in months.  It's a good show.  It has done a few cross overs with the NCIS franchise (mostly the LA show...

My PHone Went wonky on me again.

Image
After i posted yesterday morning took a nap and heard my phone make a notification noise but I didn’t hear the phone ring.  It turned out to be Dave returning my phone call from yesterday.  He was waiting to go to work at the airport but it was cancelled so we had a moment to talk.  He answered some of questions when I told him I was going to Florida and when.  I also told him my sister’s concerns.  HE was very supportive.  After that conversation we got to talking about how long my brother has been gone.  I thought it was seven years.  Dave remembered his sister died the same year just two months later.  I was absolutely sure it was seven...it's not.   AFter I got off the phone with him Liz texted me that she was home and to come over anytime.  So I got ready and started to go.  As I was driving there it was crazy out on the roads.  People seemed to be in a rush.  Actually that’s the way it usually is on a Sat...

I don't like it

I don’t like when I haven’t written all week.   I usually start forgetting what had transpired in the previous week and it could be important or significant things that have impact on me or to the thought process I have used. The week started with a close encounter (or 2) with nature.   I noticed something in the grass towards the back of the yard and took a look through the binoculars and found a sleeping fox.   It stayed there for quite some time and when I checked after my shower it was gone.   As I was leaving a Mama and kit came out of the woods near my garage they stopped mid step and watched me.   They turned around and headed back to what I can only guess is their den.   I haven’t seen them since but neighbor D’Arcy shared videos of her pack in her yard on FB.   I have seen rabbits lately. Work has been its usual busy stuff. I was able to get more days of scanning done except for Friday.   On Thursday Supervisor asked me to take ca...

A whale of a story

Apparently there was some excitement in Milford Sunday afternoon.   A humpback whale was spotted in Long Island Sound in Between Charles Island and Milford Coastline.   The video from Patch.com is weak but I am trying to see if anyone else saw it.   I remember years ago there was a beluga spotted on the CT coastline but I don’t know what happened to it after that. I finally got back to sleep around 4 and stayed in bed much to the chagrin of Sky until after 6.   I got them fed and they hung around.   They went upstairs when Juanita arrived at 8:15. Juanita was the nurse from the home healthcare and she was wonderful.   We talked about health, she has Lupus too and the things that work for her and that don’t.   She loves old houses and did everything perfectly.    Once Juanita left I showered and got ready for my appointment.   Liz picked me later then we planned but we still got to Dr. Sonia on time.   I will be updatin...
