Independence Day 2020

G00d Morning and Happy Birthday America!  This has been a year hasn’t it? It can only get better I think.  WE have gone through so much only to show we can be resilient.

So last night I watched most of the Wrath of Khan and a little of the Search for Spock.  I had gone outside to see where the fireworks were being shot off from.  I could barely see them and they were really loud either but I did walk to the end of my street and looked towards West Haven and noticed there were some that way.  I am figuring it was near the HS or grounds of a couple of schools nearby Sky was sitting on the sofa above my head and then took off.  I found them both at either end of my old bedroom.   There are only 4 places that are officially holding firework displays this week in the area.  Of course I was surprised when I heard them until I went outside and it had stopped raining.

Today has been a normal day (well accidently pocket dialing the emergency number mot withstanding) they called me back and I had to apologize and explain it was in error.  I just hope they don’t charge me with a crime.

I have already played a few WWF games and now I am taking a break right now.  I don’t know if that’s allowed but tough tutu’s if it isn’t.  I don’t want to be attached to that all the time.  I am already attached to the laptop way too much.

I had a chance to talk to family members already.  Cousin Bill in MA, Brother Jim, and of courses my Niece Jen in NC.  Waiting on sis to respond to text and then I will move along on the day.

It looks like it will be a beautiful day.  Currently partly sunny and 74 degrees (it was in the lower 70s 2 hours ago) and it will be in the low 80s.  No rain though.  The grass is starting to look a little better.

Oh and I bailed again on the class.  I will be walking sometime and then do cardio at the gym before it closes for the day.   I had the rest of the remaining roast beef that I had been picking at this week.  I need to throw out the meatloaf soon.

I have already started another grocery list but I still have much to feast on.  I don’t have as many frozen vegetables.  I have salad fixings and hopefully the semi fresh Brussel sprouts in the vegetable draw.  I did get a hankering for a cherry pie so I went and got it and ate it within 10 minutes

Today must be the day I catch up with family whether it is online or in person.  While I was at the store had a few moments to catch up with my Cousin Dan.  He also works at the University by with the bigwigs. He is the Deputy Director of Communications of Development and Marketing.

I have been Watched the Aerial America Marathon on the Smithsonian channel.  I have seen these all before.  When I get a chance I go back to the blogsites and look up any blogs that are tagged with the states and most of what I get is political, news, etc.

I called Mama R this evening.  She says the state has spiked from the Corona Virus.  She reiterated masks are to be worn in public at all times.  We talked about me going back to work.  We talked about the fireworks going off and how to deal with it with pets, and PSTD.  I told her what I will do if it gets bad. They were fine last night really.

I made some dinner of the lamb chops.  That’s it nothing else.  I may need to get going with the salads with it for the dinners.  I will still need to get a few more things at the store tomorrow

I spent two hours for training purposes for Harassment in the Workplace training.  It was two hours of information.  There was so much how I will I remember it all?  I am thinking I can google it.

Something is up with the phone.  Getting to all the apps is different.  I have to swipe up instead of their separate windows.

Well for the last hour and half been hearing fireworks go off in all directions.  My plan to go around and close the windows was unfulfilled as I didn’t want to move from the laptop.  It should be ending by 10.  I will check in on the kitties. Oh well I just found Tiger on the stairs so I held it for a short time and put her on the sofa she decided to amble around and then upstairs to under the bed.  Sky was stretched out under the bed so after struggling with google assist I got the answer and put some music on.  I have to remain destressed It would help if google assistant would be more helpful.

Not What I was expecting

Yesterday was the union protest at the commencement.  It was discussed on the news all weekend but by the time I left for work is when I found out it wasn’t going to be just a silent vigil.  IT turned out to be a long march from the union office all the way to Broadway and then back where we greeted the graduates and applauded.  Quite frankly I am annoyed because this is not what we were told and we should have been told.  By the end of the day my ankles were swollen and my legs hurt.  There was a de-briefing  lunch at the union hall today.  I decided not to go because i could still feel my ankles against the shoes.  It took me awhile to get home yesterday too.  I don’t remember that happening last year. For the record 20 minutes in the garage and 15 to get out of the city.

Last night was the creative writing contest reception at City hall.  Before I got there I had to stop and get more cookies and get gas or I would not have gotten home I think.    It was still crappy out so the end of the day was dismal and wet.   I got to the city hall past 5:30 and everyone was setting up.  Really it was already set up for us which is nice.  We took pictures and eventually the event began.  The mayor came as expected and we got to chatting.   There were 21 winners and all of them showed up.  We even honored our three graduates with the Presidential Volunteer award.  The only two things that made it difficult was the fact I collided with a grandparent of another winner because neither of us were watching where we were walking!  My leg was not cooperating either.  It was achy and stiff.  I couldn’t wait to get home to take something for it.

When I got home the kitties were waiting for me.  I gave them their night time kibble and cleaned the litter boxes and then I went to bed.  They eventually followed actually SKy did not sure where Tiger slept.

Unfortunately I didn’t fall asleep fast enough to learn there had been a terrible explosion in London at Ariana Grande’s concert.  Twenty two people were either killed or injured.  It is being tagged as Terrorist attack.

The week started with rain and we have had a nice cloudy day with no rain but getting more by the end of the week.  I don’t have a problem with that but what I do have a problem with is how freaking cold it's been!    I haven’t turned the heat up once in the last several days but the house has been cold I had to wear long sleeves and or sweaters.  Today is a little better but i haven’t turn the fans back on yet either.  I don’t remember May being so cold.  Not even last year.  I would like it a little warmer please!

I am not doing anything outside the house tonight i have to do a little bit of pen paling to a new pal who is right here in CT.  Actually she lives in the next town and about 15 minutes away.

Tomorrow is another story.  AFter work I will head over to the hair salon and get the ad from Karen and then bring it to SHaron.  I will then pay her for the dinner next week and for my portion of the 4th District ad.

I will have a phone session with Courtney the health coach tomorrow.  It's been a couple of weeks since we last spoke and we were supposed to meet tomorrow but the Angel hair thing came up.

THursday is the scholarship presentation at Foran.  The coordinator of the event contacted both Chairman Rich and I about who is presenting it and will we have the checks.  I didn’t want to be responsible for getting the checks there but Rich said he would.  I also will be presenting it alone this time.  I am very nervous about it.  WHen I talked with Liz she reassured me I would be fine.

Friday is the start of the long weekend.  I don’t have any tentative plans for that night.  IF it is raining I probably will call it an early night and curl up in bed and watch TV with the kitties.

Saturday I probably will order my groceries for that day and in the afternoon head over to Liz’s for a short visit.  I Have a birdhouse for her from the club and I want to give it to her.  When I talked with her on the phone she was telling me how Nelson had really over did his activities on Sunday and got sick.  They hope to recuperate this weekend so I know I won’t be staying long that day.
Sunday is the normal activities.  Quiet in the morning (and maybe cooking) and bingo in the afternoon.   The city's Memorial Day parade is that afternoon so it would behoove us to avoid the center.

For Memorial Day head back to Liz’s for a small picnic or something in the afternoon and get ready for a short week.

I can hear tiger and sky running around making noises upstairs and things falling to the floor.  They had an opportunity to come into my old room while I was updating the pen pal files and they took it for about five minutes.  One of them totally missed the box today.  I had cleaned it out thoroughly this morning and did it again when I saw the pile of crap on the mat.  I guess this means I have to wash it completely out again this weekend.

Well it is now 9:30 and i need to get going to bed....Be safe and sound..

April 23, 2017

The House began to stir at quarter of 6 this morning.  The cats and I did our regular early morning routine.  After a while Sky started caterwauling so I let him downstairs.  I did not want him to wake R and M as they had to be out of here around 8.

Dr. T called this morning to see if they were available so I explained that they would be home by 6 tonight so she decided that she would come at that time and would call first.  I had sent a text to her around 1 before falling asleep with that message something tells me it didn’t work,

I spent the rest of the morning getting better scores on the crossword puzzle site.  It worked for a bit and then I slept until Sky woke me up because he was meowing so much.

I heard from Liz this morning they are both still very tired (can understand that) .  She hoped that the kids would stay away so they could rest.  There is nothing wrong with that but I think that also should mean all of their friends as well.  I told her that’s why I am not running over there or calling as much.  At least I hope I wasn’t.

In the afternoon I had bingo and that went fairly well.  I had completely forgotten to call the nursing home last week and say I wouldn’t be coming for the Easter Sunday activities. I do remember telling them the week before but that’s it.

After bingo I came home and stopped at Neighbor Chris’s house and chatted with him and of course said hi to Sawyer and Simon (the Dalmatian brothers).  I was back at the house 15 minutes later watching Star Trek Generations on Universal TV channel…

I didn’t do very much after that…my ten crossword puzzles…did pretty well   for eight of them.  Maybe later on I will do more.  I chatted with Nephew Chris in NC.  He told me he has a father daughter Dance next week with his Daughter.

I checked my emails from work and I noticed that Guardian Angel sent a recent coverage email.  She will be taking a few days off next week and again in May and June.  I have to be sure I don’t take the same time off.

It looks like an Administrators in HR is retiring very soon.  OF course someone is stepping up to replace him.  I recognized the name from the past but may be Siduri remembers…

Mama and Papa came home around 6:30 and we relaxed until Dr. T came over and presented us with GFWC Membership pins celebrating 20 years.  You can see the pin on my FB.  We chatted for a bit and then Dr. T left and we had dinner.

We ordered Pizza for dinner and watched TV for the evening.

Around 9 I started getting ready for bed.  It took me a while to get to sleep.

Another Successful and Long Day

As you know I did the cheesecake bright and early this morning.  In the afternoon I went to my friend Dr. T’s house to make 15 apple pies and watched them make the dog treats.  As usual there were a handful of girls who didn’t show, or didn’t call until last minute.  This is an issue that has been ongoing for quite some time and it will be addressed at the next meeting.

I stayed until six to wait for the treats to cool and get packaged.  It gave me an opportunity to catch up with Dr. T since our last activity and without the girls present.  We even had an opportunity to catch up with our friend Jolyn when she stopped by to pick up her pie order.  She is one busy lady.

I went to Boston Market for dinner and came home and ate it while the beasts continue to sleep.  After I cleaned up and filled the kibble (they came down stairs for a bit).  I did only a fwe things as Livia was coming tomorrow.

I am so tired that I am heading to bed and crashing have a great night.  I am burying myself under the blankets.

Sunday Afternoon

The Peapod arrived just after 11:30 but I didn’t see a text alert or the email to let me know.  I see the furry behind of Tiger who must have been sleeping under the sofa this morning running up the stairs.

I don’t know if I should complain much but the first thing the guy did was to park in the neighbor’s driveway.  Granted he didn’t know that it was not mine if you look at it quickly you could easily think it belonged to the house.  I asked him to move and he did.  The couple of things that I got were either crushed (cereal boxes, and some of the frozen dinners).  It isn’t the first time but I don’t want it to become regular occurrence.  I have already started my next list.

Once the food was put away I made my standard steak lunch with no additional foods.  I was thinking of what to do for future meals and I was thinking of making meatloaf.  It has been a while but while watching Pioneer Woman I saw how easy it looked and figured I would do it again.  Unfortunately it was too hot for me to be cooking so I haven’t done anything yet.

Bingo went well I managed to get there very early and helped set up and we managed to start on time.  We had sixteen residents and almost all of them one.  Some even won a couple of times.  In one of the earlier games I had four winners.  I haven’t had that happen in like years!

I got home a little after 3 and laid down and watched TV.  I fell asleep a good long time.  Sky came down from his spot and had been wandering and meowing.  Tiger who laid down under the night table came down around 5.  They are just ambling around right now.

I am very excited to read I had a reply from a member of Ann Campbell of The Fuquay-Varina Woman's Club.  She thanked me for encouraging Mama Roberta to contact them.  She told me there are clubs closer to her and they will point her in that direction.  I am very glad this will be moving ahead.

I watered the lawn around 7.  I was sorely tempted to stand out there and get wet.  I have a shower for that.    I may just take a cold shower and hunker down to watch the Star Trek 5 on Heroes and Icons.

Well I am going to say good night for now…

Another Beautiful Sunday

It is so beautiful out.  It was in the 70’s when I woke up at 6 this morning and it has been a pleasant breeze too.  I got the kitties fed and watered took care of the litterboxes and then went back to sleep on the couches for a couple of hours.

The kitties are each in their spot sleeping I think.  I was a little worried about them yesterday.  I was watching Tiger chew on the material under the spring mattress and I stopped her and then ten minutes later after she jumped from the cedar chest heaved it back up.  We came downstairs and I noticed deposits on the dining room floor.  I don’t know which one did it but I kept talking with them and looking them over.  I am not sure if they are reacting to the new flaky filet stuff or it’s just the heat.  I notice they do eat it all when I feed it to them.

Then I read something on Facebook from the PetMD site that says it’s not a good sign when cats continue to run away when people come in as you know these two do it all the time.  Then if the people are here long enough they do come out (at least for relatives and a few friends).  I am trying to find it but it gets me worried.  I just read something from Petful.com about what to do.  Positive praise and don’t raise your voice (I am thinking bribery works too).

I heard from Mama Roberta yesterday they were out shopping for a new mattress for the guest bedroom that I will be in when I visit.  I ended up calling them because I wanted to talk to her and they were also taking their daughter to the airport who was quite put out that she had to sleep on an air mattress while I will get the new mattress.  I mentioned the issue with the dues and the state organization and I later found out it has gotten much worse.

I had received several emails from Dr. T regarding the dues yesterday and she wants me to save them.  It is unbelievable at what some of the people did.  Apparently the state level officers can’t find the check or evidence it was sent and they are being really smarmy about it.  Roberta says she will call Dr. T and discuss it further as well.

I ended up just watching TV last night and then going to bed.  I kept thinking there wasn’t anything good on last night but then find out movies are on that I would watch again and again.  I watched part of the Pirates of the Caribbean at World’s end.

The kitchen needs to be straightened up again.  I had mini pizzas for dinner yesterday.  I had both of them this time and I may regret it soon.

This afternoon I have bingo and will probably run out and get a few things at the stores.  It looks like I need a new mattress cover for the bed.  It seems like it is stretched out.  I still want to look at some clothes at Wal*mart and places like that.

I heard from Jim and he is doing well.  I don’t know if I mentioned in my previous entry that he was at a street festival and doing voter registration activities.  I sent him the current link to the Arts and Ideas festival that is going on in the city.  I don’t think he can come up but maybe next year he can.

Just heard from Liz.  They are going to the garden tour in Westport.  We will have a lot to talk about when I see her on Tuesday.  Her grandkids are with the other grandmother for the day.  I have to wonder what that grandma thinks about the situation.

Well I am going to attempt the letter writing at least a couple of them.

Saturday Doings

Every time I have an very busy weekend I usually like to have the following weekend or part of the weekend to relax and catchup.  Today is that day.  I don't have to be anywhere if I don't need to and its pretty cold out to boot so I want to stay in with the kitties.  I have some laundry to do and some cooking but nothing that needs to be done outside.

I am sad to find out a dear friend of mine has a very sick kitty.  Jack has cancer and they don't know how long he has.  I met Jack a long time ago when I visited his Mom for our first "Andromeda" fan weekend.  At least i think that is the one.  I have followed Mardi ever since then and loved hearing about her babes.  I want her to know that we here in the  KP home are thinking of you and sending prayers.

You all remember when I wrote earlier this week that I yelled at the cats for something they did?  Well this article couldn't have come at a better time.  So since I found it on FB originally and looked into and saw some things I have found myself doing I am trying extremely hard not to do or trying to do more for them.   They still don't like getting their coats brushed.  Sky keeps trying to bite the brush and Tiger tries and walks away.  I am always checking the water bowls especially after hearing that refreshed water can cause the bug they had in early January.  I always kiss their head and body.  I speak in a calm voice all the time and work from there.  Tiger is at the foot of the bed and I am about to check on Sky.  I think he is in the box mattress again.

Got an email from DR. T today.  She had submitted an article to the GFWC International magazine Club Woman and it was posted this month.  It included our two out going girls club presidents A and J and all though I can see the entire article through the email (its probably a blurb type under the "news from around the states" section.  This is great to let the world know about what we do its always fun to read about the club.  We have been mentioned a few times over the years since we began the club.

This past week was a week to get Alumni news and reminders.  Earlier this week The Alumni Newsletter flyer arrived from Linden Hall this week.  It is a fairly different one from the ones in the past.  It had some class notes not as much as in the past (it depends on who sends stuff in. I guess).  It featured the 2015 weekend activities and staff notes as well.  I follow a couple of my classmates from LH on FB and wondered if they got it too and if they are going to this years activities.  Every year this an Alumnae Weekend and some of the classes are having their annual reunions and others get together and stuff.  I don't know if we had a 30th class reunion yet but I am sure they went to the Alumna Weekend anyway.

Endicott College is constantly having alumni gatherings all over the country and they are sponsoring a big trip to Ireland sometime this year.  On their Facebook page they recently had pictures of the snow they got this past week and how it looked on the campus.  I actually can't remember what it looked like.  i don't remember if it snowed much the year I went.

Next week is the 4th District meeting and it will be here.  I have to make sure the house stays fairly clean and neat and start looking for things to have as appetizers.  Of course finish the minutes as well.

Mid-Week Reflection a day late

It has been quite chilly and frosty this week.  I had to use the scraper on the car before I left a couple of times this week.  The week  seemed to be ending with rain showers and gray skies.

I managed to get TL to sleep with us for a little while this week until about 4 when Sky and she started wrestling by my legs and waist and I could hear Tiger making sounds.  She got up and left and he followed but not before I chastised him.  I was really  getting concerned about this.  They managed to sit on the same chair over the weekend but my concern was dissipated when Wednesday night into Thursday I found Tiger at my side and not my regular Sky.  He came later and he ended up sitting in Tiger’s regular spot.  It's all confusing at that hour.

Had a good Gastroenterology appointment.  Has me set up for another colonoscopy in ten years September 2024.   The Benlysta session was a little awkward my veins were not cooperating in the regular arm so now there is a spot on my left hand.  I did finish early and that surprised Ms Roberta and I together.

The only other appointment is Debra on Thursday.  I will tell her my usual stuff, work, health, family, activities.   We have to go over the calendar and rearrange our sessions for the rest of the month.

The only appointments I have are next week and they are health Coach on Wednesday the Dentist for the filling on Thursday and they are both after work.  Each are half hour.

The Woman’s Club/Girls club went very well.  We have a lot of activities coming up including a date change for one meeting since it's our holiday party and the girls have exams the following week.  We will be doing an additional activity at Birmingham Health Care in December.  It will be a sing-a-long.  Luckily it will be the day after our other sing-a-long but in the morning.  It will not conflict with  the afternoon activities I have planned for that day.

I know have a complete understanding of our new fundraiser.  We will take orders for gift cards at face value and then send the order to the company and when they come we give them to the people who ordered.  I don’t even want to tell you how I was understanding the whole thing.  Sometimes it takes several explanations.

I got an invitation to the 2015 Inauguration today. It will be on MOnday.  November 16, 2015 at the Government Center.  i went two years ago as well and it will be all the candidates.

I may have mentioned in previous entries that I got a letter from the Sewer commission to inform us there will be an important meeting to discuss the sewer systems that were put in.  I will say we all got a letter and feel it's about getting additional paying.   I know we paid taxes on it but I guess this is all part of it.

The next 4th DIstrict is on the 19th I believe it will be at Sharon’s house.  I have the minutes ready to be filled in.  I want to get back into getting them done in a timely manner.  Even if no one really cares when it gets done.

Tonight I had steak for dinner.  Nothing much else either...yeah not the best but it was in honor of this week’s episode of NCIS.  It was a good episode.

I threw some laundry in and probably won’t go to bed until it gets done.  STraightening up here and there.

Oh and finally for weeks maybe even months I have been seeing the ads for FanDuel and the other “Fantasy Football” sites and over those months I came to the conclusion it was basically gambling.  Well today the NY state government came to the same conclusion.  They banned both sites from taking bets in the state.  Apparently some other states are doing the same.

Wednesday Mid Week Reflection

Still trying to deal with the family drama issue.  I haven’t written the email to big brother yet.  I was getting tired and didn’t want to deal with it.  Maybe tomorrow.

I have doctor’s appointments and meetings for the rest of the week and a fun night Friday night.  so that should be an upbeat time.

the other day I was listening to a round table discussion on books and got to thinking I really need to do more reading again.  Yet I have the attention span of a flea.  I could go to the library but what would I start with?  mystery? romance?

I have to admit today was not the most productive day for work.  I was out of the office for nearly three and half hours for my appointment with the Rheumatologist.  She apparently had to see most of her co-workers patients and it made it crazy for her.  ANyway, she was pleased with my progress but wants me to see my primary for Pulmonary recommendations and a sleep study test.  I will see Dr. Sonia again in July.

The woman’s club meeting went really well. We just approved our budget for the 2015-2016 year and it looks like we will try and do more fundraising now that we will not be able to apply for chamber of commerce grants (they stopped those this year-not sure why).  We did some brainstorming sessions with old Clubwoman magazines.  It was quite clever.  We all looked through them to get ideas for our club to do by what our fellow/sister clubs did with theirs.  Some ideas were reading to military personnel families, a number of fundraising ideas, and I suggested having speakers at meetings on health issues.  We have several things going on for June and August.

The kitties are sleeping at the foot of the bed right now but they were pretty good tonight.  Sky sat with me in his favorite chair earlier tonight and was cuddly.  Tiger was her usual self.  They were both waiting for me on the stairs when I got home tonight.  I am seriously considering giving up the Blue Wilderness kibble after reading some serious  reports and complaints about the food (Blue Wilderness is from Blue Buffalo)

I have a small load of laundry going through right now and I am going to check on it to see if it needs to be moved to the dryer and then I am going to bed.

Going to bed early

I am really tired and need to get up early to catch a bus.  I put the car in for service after the engine light went on Monday.  I called the garage earlier in the week and have an appointment for tomorrow.  It was time to get an oil change as well.

My week at work got much better after the last entry.  I have gotten a lot done and have been keeping up.  The only thing is I ran out of campus envelopes but Gargoyle ordered more and they should arrive tomorrow.  She thought it would be today but I managed to get few from others.

There is an in-house retirement party for Mama Dottie on her last day.  It basically will be cake and gift.  It will be in the board room.  Her last day is on January 30.  That’s literally eight days away.  I am going to really miss her.  My hope is to keep in touch with her and have lunch now and then.  There have been others that I haven’t “kept in touch” with.

The union is having a 35th anniversary party on January 30th at Anthony’s Oceanview the same day of the retirement party.  It is $35 but I am not sure I can go.  I have a few things that are somewhat of a priority (bills wise).  From what I hear its going to be a really excellent party.

The woman’s club meeting was held last night and it went pretty good.  We discussed our activities of last month and the ones coming up in the next couple of months.  The carnival at the nursing home, and the Beth-El shelter dinner.  We also had a new member installation.  It was great that we were finished by 8 but we didn’t get home until 9.

Roberta and I shared the trip to Telka’s yesterday.  Among the subjects of course the cats, the pending snow storm that may affect our Mexican Train game session on Saturday and her recent trip Girls only trip to FLorida.  As always she enjoyed herself.

The kitties are doing pretty good.  They seem to be behaving for the most part.  THey are both under the bed right now but there have been some really funny moments between them.  For example I was cleaning out the litter box and Sky sat on my back.  I was bending over and I looked like a table to him.  He did this a couple of times.  I have watched them wrestle with each other and its funny to watch.    Of course Sky comes and cuddles and has also slept on the bed.  Tiger has come up a few times but she doesn’t cuddle.  SHe did rub against my legs while I was getting their dinner.

AS I mentioned there is a pending coastal snow storm predicted for Saturday.  It now looks like it will start Friday night.  It is supposed to be a couple of inches or so.  This may cut into the game and my hair appointment that was rescheduled for that morning.  I am really looking forward to it actually.  Anyway I do have some rock salt but it is very little left.  I ordered some from Lowes and will pick it up tomorrow night after I pick up the car.  I also am going to pick up some more food just to be on the safe side.

You are all not going to believe what I have on TV right now.  You would think it would be SVU, L&O or the Walton’s or whatever else might be on right?  Wrong I am watching the Spurs playing the Bulls.  I think the Spurs are winning so far.

Okay I am going to read some blogs and then get to bed...

See you tomorrow.

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Morning!  I actually got up around 6:30 and roughly through the bed together and put a load of laundry in the wash.  I even straightened the kitchen all because Liz is supposed to be coming over this morning so we can clear out your closets a little more (its tough no question).   Liz suggested we put it in consignment shops.  Sounds like a good plan.  Although we will have to go through and see which of them will go to the consignment shop and the others through the “clothes closet”.

I have a couple more bills to pay this weekend and it should be good until next week.  I am sure you know getting into a rhythm with it is an interesting journey.   Liz had asked me last week if I was starting to panic about getting the bills paid.  My answer at the time was no I am not but I didn’t want to admit that there were moments of future bills.

This afternoon we have the sing-along at the nursing home.  As you know I don’t sing very well to some that would be at all.  It still is fun.  It should be a couple of hours.  I don’t know if I will be doing anything else after that.

It is going to be a rainy Saturday.  I am hoping to get into the CHristmas spirit by getting Christmas Cards.  I think I need to go the CHristmas tree shop.  That’s about all the holiday spirit that I have.

Tomorrow is bingo and the memorial service at the funeral home.  This should be very interesting.

Well better get going...

Dear Mom

Dear Mom

Well it is Sunday night. I am exhausted and my shoulder is hurting every so often when I move.  As I mentioned earlier today was busy.

Bingo went really well.  I would say we had a full house.  Natalie and Bob were getting Christmas decorations out for the facility and also going to do soup.  Helen from Christ the Redeemer came and gave us communion.  She was later than usual which usually is not her way because it kind of collides with the church service in the next room.  After bingo I cleaned up the room and headed to Telka’s

On the way over I made some calls. Roberta was getting ready and was bringing her sister to the activity.  I  was the third one there eventually everyone arrived including Janet Kelly’s Mom.  We spent the next couple of hours we peeled and cored and talked while others mixed and baked.  A few times Roberta looked at me and asked me if I understand better what she is like.  The woman was indeed a bit odd and a little opinionated.  We were pretty much done by three I think.  I spent some time talking and visiting with a few of the girls.  We even got to visit with Alumni.  I headed home a short time later.

I checked in with Liz on the way home.  She was doing some big chores before her surgery tomorrow.  She reminded me of you when you get ready for the holidays or even a big event like the annual meet and greet.  I sort of understand it.  I had these big plans to make sure the house was in order before Wednesday.  I managed to finish some laundry and have dinner.

When I got home I saw Kim...she told me Sean would be over to help put the storm door when he got home.  He did and it feels different already.

I got a chance to see the Jeffries who arrived for the holidays today.  They look great.  Patty retired this year.  She is enjoying retirement very much.

I put some more of my old clothes in a bag.  Eventually I will be doing more of yours as well.  It is difficult no doubt.  Right now though I better check the my daily stuff is done.  I have to turn the heat down anyway.

I guess whatever needs to be done can be done tomorrow

Dear Friends

December 8, 2013

Dear Friends:

It has been a long day and the pups spent a big chunk of it alone today so I have to make it quick.

We started waking up around 5 but stayed in bed until 7 or 8.  I showered dressed and got the pups out for their morning walk.  It wasn’t bad out then but it looked like it would be cold and cloudy and start snowing soon..  While I was getting ready I had the Law & Order marathon (mothership) on and left around 9.  I was starting another headache but managed to get something in my stomach.

When I got to the nursing home I saw BoBM.  He was the Staff member on duty.  We talked about the holidays, the impending weather, and today’s activities.  We eventually got ready for bingo and ended up with a really full house.  Twenty one players and I think a few of them were being difficult but I think it was my headache that was making me annoyed more.  We finished early as it was St Peters Church eucharist service.  This allowed me to go to church on time.

I got to the church early and found it very crowed.  I would later find out that the school was having a “holiday bazaar breakfast” in the school.  When I got into the vestibule I sat down and started to fall asleep-several times.  I couldn’t wait to get home.

After mass I came back to the pups and relaxed with them.  Preston was very cuddly and I suspect he knew I had a headache. I told him I was fine.  When it got closer to 1 I started getting ready. i had to check my phone as there were messages from both Telka, and Roberta.  I called Roberta back and she was fine (she got to the nursing home too early).  We chatted for a few minutes and then I left for the nursing home.

I got to the nursing home by 1:20.  I could see Telka was there getting set up.  The girls came as I was asking BobM to move a podium.  We started getting residents and got the show going before 2.  It was a good show.  We had many residents probably about 40.  We were finished by 2:30 and Telka and Roberta wanted to do the wreath thing.   I told Roberta how the holiday was and then we all left.

I think it was around 3:30-4 when I got to the house.  The snow hadn’t started yet and I was relieved..  Mom was on the phone with Jim and I checked emails and got lunch/supper.  The spaghetti we had about a week ago.  I talked with Mom for a bit.

Mom felt pretty good.  She had a good sleep and today did some shopping and was debating with herself about going back out.  I think she decided not to.  I told her I would be home some time tomorrow night after I have fed and walked the dogs.  As much as I would like to be here when Nancy and Pat get home I want to be in my own bed..

I think I will go and the L&O SVU marathon..  I need to get to bed early to make sure I am up early enough to walk the dogs and make sure the bed is made for them when they get home tomorrow night.

Have a great one.

Dear Friends

Dear Friends:

It was really a cold Morning.  It was in the low thirties mid morning and It wasn’t supposed to get any warmer either.  I guess the snow fall we were supposed to get today came a day earlier.    I looked at the Weather page for Milford and its supposed to get in the 50’s for the rest of the week.

Work was busy.  I worked on the re-address mail before the lockbox came and boy did it come!  It was heavy.  It was supposed to be Tuesday's but because the banks were closed Monday it was pushed back (or is it up?).

I guess the University IT is converting all computers from Public IP to private.  According to our local IT its to prevent people from hacking and seeing where you are.  The process takes about five minutes and I guess mine will be done later on today or any time after 3.

There is going to be a union department Caucus meeting Thursday.  It is to update people on the current activities in the department and the Med School (and probably throughout the campus).  It will be from 12-2.  I probably will go at 12 that day

Mom was to have an Eye Doctor appointment this morning for new prescription.   It is supposed to help for driving at least during the day or perhaps at night.    I am not sure what else she is doing for the day.  I would imagine getting ready for Thanksgiving.    ACtually she may be getting the car checked.  Her Engine light came on last  night while I was driving home.

Tonight is the woman’s Club and Girl’s Club Meeting.  I am looking forward to it because we will be wrapping the gifts for the residents at the Nursing home and working on the final preps for the  Pie in the Sky Activity in a couple of weeks.

I just have to put the garbage out for the pick up tomorrow.  They really come early  so it is prudent I get it out there.

I have no idea what happened but Mom and I got into another fight again.  She mentioned I didn’t clean the microwave last night after I ate.  I told her I did and she  was contradicting me and I told her don’t tell me what I didn’t do.  When we started raising our voices I told her I will talk to her later that I was going to stand and argue.  She made some more comments about walking away isn’t being an adult.  I think she  must have heard me when said something like shut the fuck up.

She was out back when I left sulking like some stupid bitch.  I don’t give a shit that the doctor gave her bad news (her numbers are low).    She doesn’t have the freaking right to take it out on me.  I am sorry she isn’t feeling well.  NOT MY FUCKING FAULT.

She doesn’t realize that if she keeps treating me and  Liz like crap by being dismissive or short with us  or anyone else she is going to wonder why people are avoiding her.  She is becoming ungrateful again and I am tired of it.

So I didn’t eat dinner but ate junk at the meeting.  My hands are starting to ache right now.  I took the plaquenil.

The meeting went well we wrapped the gifts for the residents and as i mentioned earlier  discussed upcoming events and some of the recent activities and the end results.

I have a little more  garbage to empty and then I am going to bed.

Dear Friends

October 3, 2013

Dear Friends:

Happy Thursday to you all.  I am really getting tired so I don't know how long I will be writing tonight.  First off I want to wish a couple of wonderful people a Happy Birthday.  First to Young Audrey who is 7 today and her handsome Uncle Adam.   I wasn’t prepared for their birthdays this year but I will send them each a card soon.

Last night is becoming a huge blur to me but I spent most of the night watching TV like Return of the Mummy with Brendan Fraser.  I was actually channel surfing for the most part.  That is until I went to bed at 11.

Today was not starting off to well.  I left here around Before 7:30.  I was going to take a different route then the highway because I heard there was an accident in the area where I get on.  The sun glare was so bad I couldn’t see anything.  As I got closer to New Haven I couldn’t get on the highway because there was another accident.  So I took side roads and got to the office after 8.

The day turned out okay.  I managed to get the daily mail done at a decent time and got some more of the re-address mail done as well.  As Always lots more where it came from.  I was pretty happy for the end of the day.

My ride home was bugging me out.  There was an ugly spider crawling around and it unnerved me.  I tried to get it to go out the window but it didn’t.  I think it may have landed in my pocketbook.  I think some people thought I was losing it.

Before getting home I dropped off the comic show tickets to MIke and Roberta.  They were not home yet so I left them on the counter.  I called later on to check if they got them and they did.  We made arrangements to ride together on Saturday for the clothing drive at Telka’s.

When I got home Jim was here.  He had only been there an hour and we were talking about a whole bunch of stuff.  Eventually we had dinner and then chatted some more.  Around 7 I took a shower and got into my pajamas.

I have to contact Mardi to ask her to send some smoothie recipes to me to give to Mom.  I am hoping it will work.

OKay I am going to say good night for now.  I want to send an email to YOung James before going to bed.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
