Yesterday was Awesome!

Yesterday was absolutely awesome!  I got Daimian’s home a little after 1:30 as many others were as well.  We spent the afternoon talking about everything.  Including Condo’s, and history of the holocaust and how some movies and TV shows take liberties with historical moments such as the Nazi Occupation.   We also touched on certain situations that happened early in the history of the group.  For those who didn’t know about it.  There were so many other conversations.  We also celebrated Paula’s birthday.(it actually .was on Friday so I need to update the birthday list).

There was s variety of delectable foods.  I tried so hard to be good.  I had the salad and fruit salad unfortunately; I had a piece of cake and biscotti, and candy.  I was feeling guilty.  I thought I would be so prepared.  I had had some nuts and protein drink before leaving for the meetup.

The meetup started breaking up after 2 and I was home by 3:30.  I stopped and talked with another member named Rita who I just met that day.  We talked about meetups in general.  I was home by 3:30 and the kitties were waiting on me.

I had about 2 hours before I had to leave for the second meetup of the evening.  I did some laundry, made a dinner of steak (even though I wasn’t hungry).  I eventually fed the cats and got ready for the trip to Ivoryton Playhouse.

When I left the sun was just going down and made the ride a really awesome.   The temperatures were in the mid 40’s well until after night fall.  The traffic wasn’t bad and as I approached Ivoryton there the roads were getting very hilly, and dark and beautiful.  Yet it got unnerving because I wasn’t sure if Bambi or his family would jump out.

I arrived to the theater and d the area was absolutely beautiful.  I ended up parking in a park down the street from the theater and walked to the theater.  I was early and as the time of the play approached many people were arriving.  I met Red and she was wonderful.

We were able to get seats closer to the stage.  The Ivoryton Playhouse was very intimate and fun.  We sat down in our seats and Red brought me some water.   We chatted and for the next hour and half we watched two plays.  This event was basically a rehearsal to see how the potential audience would like it.   They read from their scripts.   Some of it was awkward but some of it was fun and probably supposed to be awkward.  There was a panel afterwards.  There was a reception in the foyer afterwards but we took the time to look around at the pictures of all the actors who performed at the theater.  It was fun telling Red how many I recognized.

We went to the restaurant down the street from the theater where we talked for another hour with coffee and hot chocolate.  Eventually a group of firefighters and their wives and significant others came in to celebrate someone getting Firefighter of the year.  It was so cool.

It was nearly 11 when we said goodbye to each other and I headed home.  It was midnight by the time I got home.

I did a few things and then got into bed.

This morning I was going to go up and look at the things I wanted to put on Market place on FB but I discovered Joan S is having a walk at 9:30.  So of course I am going.  I may still go to the gym for class it depends on how much time I have.

I have bingo this afternoon and I am going to have to the house cleaning this week as Livia is on vacation.   I have known about it since midweek.

Well I need to say good morning to some siblings so I will talk later….

Iconic theater burned down

sad news over night as an Iconic regional theater burns to the ground.  It was a theater that had produced featured Shakespearian productions and in later years could be used for other things until it closed in the early 80s.   I am sure i went there but no memory of it.  I just also knew about it because people talked about it.  I let Jim know about it and when I write Telka I will tell her about it.

So how did the walk go this morning?  Joan had to work and Alice couldn’t make it and only one other person let us know they were not able to come.  So i pretty much walked the same route as last time but not as long.    I was finished by quarter of ten.  I was home 15 minutes later.  No mud bath or injuries.

The funny thing is if I continued down on Rivercliff I would have been on a street that the Post Office frequently confused our mail with.  Quite often we would get the mail  for Grove Circle delivered to us.

Since I have been home I folded clothes and had some thing to eat and slept.  I watched TV and fell asleep again.  I still have to clean the kitchen and then do some cooking.  Not really in the mood to do that but I have to or all of it will go bad-again.

I may go for another walk this afternoon my current steps are under 5K.  It will still be cold (currently 27 degrees) out but I really want to get more walking done.

The kitties have either been sleeping or playing around.  They loved the fact I let them in the closet, cellar.  They are both sleeping on the bed now.  They will be up for their dinner in about 4 hours.

Well I have laundry waiting....not a lot but enough.

Looking Forward

Good morning everyone it is a quiet Sunday morning and I have been relaxing.  As I expected I didn’t fall asleep until way after Midnight so I stayed in bed well past 6 this morning.  I saw a lovely orange sky in between the houses come up over the horizon.  The kitties sure were not happy about that.

After doing our morning ritual I headed back to bed and tried to sleep but Sky had been asking to go into the computer room (aka my old bedroom).  I didn’t want them in there yet but I broke down a short while ago because he was giving me a headache.  Tiger who had been at the foot of the bed headed in there as well.  I will be going there shortly to use the computer and do some organizing of files.  I won’t be there for long though.

Today is the theater date with Liz.  I have to meet her at quarter of 1 at her house and then we will drive to Long Wharf theater in New Haven and see: Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery.  I had never seen this particular play but I am looking forward to it and spending an afternoon with Liz. Actually it’s been a while since I saw a live production of anything.  I think the last time I saw a play was Wicked at the Oakdale theater.

I just sent an IM to Jim and he responded. I had sent him a message via IM yesterday but didn’t reply to me not sure if he sent me a regular text or if my text is working.  He doesn’t seem very talkative on this messenger but when he texts he says more.  He hasn’t asked me about Liz or anyone else lately.  Like at all.  That’s probably a good thing.   I am waiting to read his response to my going to the theater.

It is about 24 degrees out and supposed to get a little warmer but not by much.  The weather reports are still calling for snow in the middle of the week but I have heard the 4th Nor Easter is going to change to rain and nothing more.  It says mostly cloudy for the week for New Haven.  It looks like the snow won’t show up until the following weekend.  Here in this part of the city where I live can expect clouds and rain.  I can handle that as long as there is no flooding or downed trees from the wind.

Well its time for breakfast and then getting ready for the afternoon.  After the play I will do some grocery shopping.

Going to see Wicked

Later today I will be meeting up with Liz and several of her friends and Jenn (my nephew’s fiancĂ©) at her house and then meet with others to the restaurant Serafino in Wallingford for dinner and then to Oakdale and see Wicked.  I am really looking forward to seeing it.  I have seen the advertisements and over the years have seen WOZ and the sequels and various side stories about it.  Many of my friends from FB have seen it and have had mixed reviews about it.

I thought I would get up early today and get started on the day.  I had so many goals today.  Work on the e-cards, continue emptying my emails out and sort them and work on the bookkeeping.  All I have done so far is feed the cats, and made coffee for myself.

At some point today I will have to take a nap (probably lunch time) so that I don’t get overtired and cranky (nor fall asleep through the performance) later.

Speaking of the coffee I have tried both new flavors.  I have to say when it is first brewed  you can smell the aromas of the mocha marshmallow and the sugar cookies (the other flavor) but then it doesn’t seem sweet throughout unless you put the sweetener or sugar in it.  I will still drink it but I am not sure I will be getting the mocha marshmallow one again.

I think I am going back to sleep for a bit then do some stuff...

Dear Friends

October 26, 2013

Dear Friends:

Well as promised here is my post dinner check in.  We had a great time.  Mike & Roberta picked me up a little after 5 and we headed  to the North Haven Red Lobster on Universal Drive.  We had to wait a bit but that was fine.  We were seated and I feel waited on very well.

We started off with cheddar biscuits I think.  We ordered our salads and then our meals. I had Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp with broccoli and mashed potatoes.  Mike had stuffed scrod with baked potato and Roberta had breaded tilapia.  We didn’t have dessert there we went to Friendly’s for ice cream.

We had a good time as we laughed and talked about a lot of things including “politics”.  We didn’t get in deep but it was about who hired the website company for the affordable Healthcare site.  We also discussed local government stuff as well.  We then talked about Mike and Roberta’s future in CT.  Their plans to move to North Carolina are still in formulation plans but they have to wait four years when Mike’s Contract with the Credit Union is up.

They were very interested in learning about Mom’s Justice of the Peace.  So when we got home I had Mom tell them how it all started and what the procedure was to get started.  I think Mike is interested in doing that when he retires.

We also showed them the parting gifts from Bridges that Mom got last week.  They loved them.  After that they left and I have been watching TV.

Mostly Horror movies and Halloween themed stories are on.  Okay so is the X-Men trilogy and the Lord of the Rings.  I am getting kind of tired so I am not really interested in watching.

I found out the concert we are going to see is the Laurelton Hall performance of Jesus Christ Superstar and Chris and the kids are going to be there.  Liz replied to my email but I also knew she must have called to plan with Mom.  So we are meeting at 1:30 at Parson’s.  So I will come home and freshen up from the morning activities and will go with Mom back into town to the Parson’s complex.  I haven’t seen this in so long but I remember seeing it else where and loved it.  The music was always cool.

Well its getting late and my hands are getting tired and achy again.

Have a great night!!!!

Love ya…

Father's Day 2010

There is just 58 minutes of this day left. It has been incredibly busy from morning until I got home by 9. I got up around 7:30 had breakfast and then got ready for bingo. I left the house around 9 and arrived a short time later to the nursing home. PJ was there as well. She would be running the annual Father’s Day social. We chatted about things such as my ankle and life in general. She did some stuff upstairs and I ran the bingo.

I am a little disappointed that the girls did not come and help today. This is like the second week this has been going on. I am going to ask Telka to speak to them about it. If she doesn’t then I will.

After Bingo I managed to get over to see Liz and Nelson so I could give Nelson his Father’s day card. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to see Adam, Jason, and of course little princess. Adam was on his way to Cheryl’s for a picnic and the kids were playing twister with Liz. The kids were awesome. At one point as they were running around both of them ran really fast into my arms. I thought for sure we would fall to the ground. Nelson who had been napping woke up and came out and after that I came home.

I was home by 12 and started getting ready for the theater. I wore my brown floral print dress with a white (off white) sweater and a pair of white shoes. Mom and I talked about our week’s events and then I waited for Roberta.

The ride up to the theater was very nice. The theater is up in Waterbury and must have been a sports complex at one time. The play was “Swing, Swing, Swing” and it was very good. The music was from the 40’s and about the War. After the play was done Roberta drove me to Dave’s house.

Surprisingly I was early. Not so surprisingly is he changed the time without telling me. Rose and her family came after 5:30. We had pizza and sherbert and watched LuLu open her presents and then we talked about different thngs. Around 8 or so we left and Rose took her brother hoem then me and then they wetn home.

Mom was in the back watching TV and I came upstairs and watched a few hours of the NCIS marathon. Unfortunately I found myself falling a sleep so now I am going to bed.

We had a pretty good time yesterday

Just have some time to write before getting ready for bed. Today was rather busy with everyone getting ready to leave for the trip back to Allentown and me off to bingo and church.

Mom and I went to the Shiva for Senator Gayle Slosberg’s Father this afternoon. We had missed the mini service but we stayed until 8 and to me felt like a wake. Mom will probably go tomorrow for the Tessa had given us a little insight at the district meeting as to what to expect. I also remembered what Donna Grossman said to me earlier in the week.

I got a call from the garage yesterday. The water hose is leaking and the timing belt needed to be replaced as well. The labor is what is going to kill me I think. In total it will be $650.00. He said that it would be Monday or Tuesday by the time it was ready. I called Dolette and asked her for a ride and she said she would pick me up but wasn’t sure what time.

In between waiting for everyone to get ready and to arrive for the convoy I spent a lot of time clearing out old emails and updating logs and trying to get to use the Outlook for the rest of my emails so I don’t have to go the website.

We were on the road by 12:30 and had a good ride. Dave and I drove with Liz and Nelson. I have to admit there were a few times Liz annoyed me and so did Dave but I am guessing I annoyed them too. Overall it was a good time. We all arrived at the theater a few minutes a part from each other and waited until they let us in. Mom’s former literary club advisor Peter Ullise was there as well.

The show was great I thought. The music (its Roger and Hammerstein) is great what else could it be. At the end the lead actor made a plea for contributions to the “Broadway for Aids pledge. I gave twenty dollars and got an autographed program.

After the show we waited for Diane at the Stage Door and she took the kids backstage. Rob was there to keep an eye on them. He was great. It was really great seeing him and he looked great.

WE all went to Prospect Café in West Hartford. It was small and we were the only ones inside it seemed. Everyone had something different. I had pasta with shrimp and chicken and we had garlic bread and it was delicious. The price for it was surprisingly low. After dinner we all headed back to Milford. Liz and Nelson dropped Dave and I off at the house and they went home. The kids (Rob and Celia brought them home) and waited with them until the older adults came. After a while they left and most of us got ready for bed.

Well it is getting to be 10:30 and I need to get to sleep. See ya in the morning.

Diane Comes to Town

Sometime today Diane (my niece) along with the rest of the cast and crew of South Pacific arrived in the state to prepare for their five day performances at the Bushnell. I don’t know if she is going to be stopping in West Haven to see her parents or if she will be staying at the hotels near the theater.

Had a pretty good day despite the fact I nearly knocked my manager into some cubicle walls. I didn’t realize how hard but I was just turning around from talking to Toni D and nearly ran into Susan. I felt awful. I asked her later if she was alright and she just said to me “gotta watch where you going…” my response was absolutely. When I told some others they rolled their eyes at me and some said I should have tried harder.

Now to the best news! Toni D returned to work after a 6 week absence. She had some health issues and it was taken care of. Happily she looked great. She is back to her old self again.

The new mail shelves for my desk arrived and they looked great. My desk looks 100% better. OF course I have stuff on top of the shelves but it will be a matter of time until I get those off.

Omigod! I am watching the Shamu cam and I just saw two people dive into the tank. There are no whales or dolphins yet but I did actually see the orca’s on Saturday. Anyway it’s really fun to watch if you have nothing to do.

I left the office quarter after 4. I was making sure the mail was all done and all that’s left is the bad address tallies. I will do that first thing in the morning. I hope my mouse won’t be acting up like it did this morning. I had to unplug it several times before it would work.

My session with Debra was at 5. It went really well and we just talked about how things went this week and how I am a little anxious about this weekend. Well for a couple of reasons. I am still thinking that DO will bail on me even though he said he wouldn’t. I am also kind of apprehensive that things will be said and it will cause problems. Anyway our session ended just before 6 and I was home by 6:20 or so.

Mom was working on the computer when I got home my dinner was in the oven almost ready. I had to wait for the potatoes for a bit but around 6:30 I ate. Mom had to go to her meeting for Bridges and I watched TV while eating dinner.

After dinner I cleared the dinner watched more TV and then got online for a bit. The photo shoot for “men of NCIS” for this week’s upcoming TV guide magazine has been released and oh man very cool.

Now that my laundry is done for the night I need to go to bed…

Something is Going on at Work

Friday was a bit of a tense day. The newbie to the Team Bruce had a problem with another team mate. I am not sure who it was as neither was he. Anyway there was a problem about attitudes and it really upset Bruce all morning. He talked with Gayle about it for a bit and she suggested he take cues from me (as be aggressive) about the files. Anyway he is going to talk more with Gayle on Monday.

The revised petition is still going around the office in regards to the incident between Jerri K and Linda B I mentioned earlier this week Some people still have problems with the language and they really should. It is good to question and need to be specific as I told the newest organizer this past week. She seemed genuinely glad to hear what I have to say and she promised to let the committee know.

Today I asked Linda B’s teammate (cubicle mate if you will) how she was doing. I regaled her with the fact it took me two months to find what happened. We then discussed what had occurred with me. We agreed that we are a dysfunctional family. We love/care/hate/annoy each other but we have each others’ back.

Yesterday I could tell there was something up with Gayle. Apparently someone she trusted betrayed her. Susan spoke to her about being too close to the team. So she warned me that she would be turning into a bitch and to not take it personally. I really hope that it wasn’t me. I had told Lee Ann that Gayle was going to pay get the six staff members who came in on Wednesday breakfast. I just hope that Lee Ann didn’t say anything or Susan didn’t hear me. As Evelyn said Gayle has been through this before. I am hoping it won’t go on for long.

I did manage to get the daily work done. I can start to get the readdress mail done and the mail for other floors done on Monday since there will be limited mail delivery. I always say the mail volume should be light or non existent and something always happens to not make it happen.

I had dinner with Dave last night it was part of his Christmas gift to me. We met at Café Atlantique in Milford. There was a website for it but it is an old one and there are new owners now. Dave had a chicken Panini. I had a tomato and cheese crepe with salad and we each had a coffee or tea. We shared a piece of carrot cake. We spent the time catching up with our families, life, work and stuff like that.

The second half of the Christmas gift was tickets to the East Bound Theater play Sex, Lies, and the IRS. It was a two and half hour show that was very good. I met up with several people I knew from the DTC, the woman’s club, and school. It was very good. The play finished around 10:30 and after chatting some more with Dave we left for our perspective homes.

Mom was still watching TV when I got home. We talked about the evening and then after awhile I came up here and did some web browsing. I stayed up until Midnight. Mom went to bed before me.

Today I got up and got ready for work. Mom was up and reading her paper before I left. Mom suggested I get some new jeans at the LL Bean. She has been trying to get rid of one of those $10 gift things she got in the mail I guess.

I got to the office by 7:40. I got set up and then chatted with a number of people. Bob hadn’t arrived yet so we couldn’t sign in. The six hours were productive and long. I chatted with co workers, got online, and then finished a really big batch that had 178 pages.

I got home by 2:30. Mom was working on her taxes and I had lunch. I watched TV. I watched a little of the Olympics today and they were pretty cool.

The rest of the afternoon I was online and did some laundry. Mom went to 5:30 mass and when she came home we had eggs and bacon.

After a few stops to various websites I am now going to bed.

Our Annual Trip to NY

We had a late start getting up for the day but we managed to leave the house a little after 9. We headed straight to town for the train and while we waited for the train (it was brutally cold) we waited in the waiting area inside the small train station. It was the first time either of us had been inside and it was a pleasant experience. There was a coffee clutch but in the next area there was a sitting room to watch TV and above were vintage model trains from a circus train to the updated Amtrak line on rails near the ceiling. We didn’t have long to wait. After having a brief chat with the cashier in the coffee clutch we caught our train.

The train ride was uneventful (except for the loud young woman sitting in front of us) Mom found her annoying. I think it was the pitch of the young girl’s voice. Mom couldn’t hear the other woman occasionally speaking but I could. We made several stops until we got to Westport where the rest of the ride became an express to Grand Central Station. I took the opportunity to sleep. We got into GCS by 11:30 Mom had a hard time walking up the ramp to the main concourse so we had to take it slow. We stopped at the info booth to get info about the bus we needed to take to get to the Met. After that we made run to the ladies room and then walked back to the bus stop. We didn’t have long to wait.

The bus ride was nice. The bus was also crowded and it didn’t take long for us to get to the Opera House. We stopped in one of the buildings that hosues Avery Fisher Hall and the coffee shop to see if it was opened and it was. We walked over to where the Hansel and Gretel Performance was to be held to wait for Jim. We walked in and stood near the shop and as we were waiting I saw a girl it turned out to be Emily. The next person I saw was Jim. I pointed them out to Mom and we walked over and greeted each other.

Soon it was time to go into the theater Jim wanted the kids to sit in between each adult the girls had other ideas and objected. They lost. Kristina sat between Mom and me while Emily sat next to Mom.

The performance was a little disappointing and made three of us (yes I did) fall asleep within the first act. At the intermission it was decided we would leave before the show ended. When it was time for us to leave I left my scarf behind and was a little upset but I was able to get it when the show ended.

We had a late supper in the coffee shop in the Avery Fisher Hall next door. The girls were not behaving very well and caused Mom to get a little upset. After we ate and after Mom and Jim had a long discussion we said Goodbye and left for home.

Mom and I made the 5 pm train and got home by 6:30. I spent the rest of the evening watching the NCIS Marathon on USA.

Busy few days

i wrote out an entry but haven't posted it yet so i decided to do this cold. it has been rather a few busy days.

Thursday i worked and went to the DTC event and won the raffle. :) will come in very handy. i ate lots too. We couldn't park in the parking lot for some reason.

Friday-worked, and hung out at home. Did some letter writing and laundry (whoohoo).

Saturday went and finally picked up dry cleaning. New Policy is any thing below $50 cash only and above checks are accepted. That was a little inconvenient because i had to go to the bank prior to going.

Sunday-Wow what a day! Went to Bingo and in the afternoon went to NYC to see Diane's play. "Honor" taken from "As you Like it". it was held at The Hudson Guild Theater on West 26th Street. We got to see Diane before and after the performance. She was part of the Talk back and it was awesome. WE had dinner at Chipolte on 7th Avenue. The 5 borough Bike Ride was also taking place and delayed the start of the play almost 4o minutes. Many people who participated in the bike ride and one of them was a friend of Mom's. We got back home by 10.

Today is the Retirement Dinner for LM. I will be home after that.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
