Day 2 of normal routine

I managed to get up a little after 5 and do a few things before feeding the team.  I was surprised I was in such good spirits considering I went to bed fairly late.  I put the coffee on as I was getting ready for the day, took my daily meds.  The normal start  to the day in our house.

I was able to leave a little after 7 and made it to the gas station like I should have yesterday but luckily it was okay.  I got to the office by 7:30 and chatted with SR.  I found out some stuff “is coming down the pike as for as additional tasks.  I also admitted my regret about not working more.   She admitted it was her first day back to the office too. 

I set up for the day and chatted with some more of my coworkers who came in for the first time.  I found out MC’s mom has been quite ill.    I hope she will be okay, but unfortunately it will be a long road.  I made phone calls to IT and as of now they are working on it I believe.

I have the area committee meeting at 12 pm and I will have to find a place to sit and participate.  We have an Ally meeting with other unions tomorrow I think.  I don’t know…I just wrote up the notes in my Union file on the computer. 

It doesn’t look like I am going to the meetup tomorrow night.  I want to attend that Ally meeting tomorrow night.  I would have found out about it if I could get connected.  I tried even with the suggestions.  They even said use the zoom connection for the phone.  I got so aggravated that I just gave up and went back to work with out even having lunch.

There were some issues about the mail.  We are trying to find out if they were here or not yesterday.  Kilby station was not picked up.  The other stuff in cash bags were the only thing we got.  I sometimes wonder if we all mean the same thing when we say “the courier service” was here this many times.

The rest of my day went into the crapper.  I realized I was scanning documents the wrong way and ended up losing the said files.  I was able to redo some of them that I touched today.  Luckily AC helped out and was able to rescue at least one day.  We were able to get a document access so that I can make the refund scanning  batch sheet.  IT was helpful in getting Java updated and epic reset and now I can access my time card from every place except from the laptop at home.  I took a picture of it and sent it to the guy who helped me today. I gave him the information and will check the email again tomorrow.

I came home by 4:30.  I had my lunch food as snack.  I had relaxed until it was time to get to the gym.  I missed Paiges class but after my session with Alex I stayed until 7:15.  I did thirty minutes on the treadmill and made it to 9k (not exactly the 10K as promised) and became 10Kplus by the time I got to the car.

When I got home the cats were roaming but there was a mess on the floor of my old phone and pictures and pins.  It was the second time today it was on the floor.  I am not sure what was going on.  Either I am being visited by spirits or these two where have a grand old time.

I made dinner, watched a little tv and then started the taxes.  I just finished a little before ten.  To say it was stressful would be an understatement.  Everything I worked on was zooming.  I used Turbotax and it cost me just over $150.  I was getting aggravated every time an email alert, or page alert would show up. There were so many questions they went through I couldn’t answer (like paying stuff from another state) I mean I used chewy or amazon or Newegg but I think they charged state taxes. 

I had FMLA so I think that was correct.  I just don’t know.  There were all the questions about owning the house.  I just don’t know and I didn’t want to call “HIM” or my sister because it was getting late.  I am getting alerts that they have been submitted.    I was really obnoxious and I was cussing and I never know if I am so loud that the neighbors can hear me.    Well one won’t they don’t look like they are around.     Well the kitties seem fine (they spent the last two hours downstairs)

I don’t think I will be going to bed anytime soon.

 

I swear

I swear every time I go to do my taxes.  I have issues whether it is internet connections, firewalls, or I have problems with my passwords.  I started to get it set up around 8 and ended up using CreditKarma.com and I still have to fix it.  Didn’t put info in that is needed.  Will have to do it soon.

So Easter at my friend’s house.  I have mixed feelings about it.  It was a little hectic and awkward for me.  The food phenomenal.  The behavior of some really rude.  I was asked to set the table yet this one woman who has only been here (in the country) five years doesn’t move.  I didn’t want to wait for her to finish cutting something that could have been done in the kitchen.  A few people spoke in Greek and when they know how to speak English whether it is limited or not.  Everyone left me at the table with the old Greek lady who barely spoke English.  I really didn’t appreciate it.  The hostess interrupts her daughter while the daughter is speaking and doesn’t say excuse me.   I let Roberta know when we were leaving to take me home.  I was getting too tired and needed to come home.  They were going to have another meal and I just couldn’t.

When I got home the kitties were waiting for me.  I gave them some kibble and relaxed for a while then I went to bed.

I had my Doctor’s appointment late Monday and it didn’t take long but it was concerned for the swelling in my leg. Everything else was good.  I did manage to get my dry cleaning before going. I went back to the house to pick up the phone that I left behind.  It wouldn’t be the only time I left it behind.

I headed back to my sister’s house where I would be meeting up with Roberta who had been spending most of the morning in Trumbull to visit her former co-workers and also do some business.  While I was waiting I had a quick visit with Liz who was cleaning out her car for today.  It was a short visit because soon Roberta arrived. 

While we were confirming with our companions we learned that one would not be attending as she was sick.  It sounded like she was really sick.  Once we connected with C we headed to the family we had Easter with to pick something up and we spent some time with them.

We got to Roberto’s in Monroe about 6:15.  Carol was waiting at the bar for us.  I had a flash back of meeting there a few years ago before Mama R left Connecticut.  We first had a variety of Bread and then we ordered salads and our main entries. Carol and Roberta had chicken Parm with pasta and I had Shrimp Scampi.  It was delicious. We left there around 10 and we got back to Milford by 10:30 and I got home without my cell phone by 11.

After sending an email to Mama about the cell phone who got it later on I headed to bed.   Sky followed and Tiger slept elsewhere for most of the night.

The weather on Sunday was absolutely beautiful despite the two rain showers that came through the state.  One was about 4 and the other was about 8 and neither lasted very long. I have had the windows open now for three days.  It was just as beautiful yesterday but ended up closing the windows and put the heat on it was far too cold.

Today I found out a neighbors car was broken into last night. It was parked on the street as usual.  The cops were called and all.   So I made sure nothing in my car is worth stealing the plaid suit is still in there.  However keeping an eye on things around here.

Nelson is at the hospital now.  According to Liz earlier this week he will be there a couple of days.  She will let me know via IM how he did.  I suspect she is at home sleeping or even there.  I don’t know.

Oh and things seem to be ramping up at the condo construction site down the street.  They were working last week there but now it seemed they were working on the sidewalks as well as the buildings.  Traffic was really tied up all afternoon.

I am very excited to make tentative plans in June with Siduri to go to exhibit at the Art Gallery in New Haven.  I think it will be on Saturdays.

Well I am going to watch Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations.  Then figure out how I am going to make Dinner for Thursday.

Enough Cold weather!

Man it was cold for the last two days.  Icy as well.  I am like everyone else I want it to be warmer than what it is now.  At least the sun is out.  I do have to admit the ice on the trees and bushes reminded me of some story or movie that talks about an Ice world.  In other words it was pretty.

Work went well busy with mail, some readdress mail, and did some more refund checks.  There is going to be a slight change in mail direction for the NEMG correspondence.  It is in the process of being hammered out now.  The is a collection going around for a team lead as she lost her father earlier this week.  We have until Friday to contribute or donate. 

More discussion on this whole getting Yale to pay taxes continues.  It was in several different publications and it was being joked about by my co-workers.  I have yet to read the publications but from the headlines themselves it sounds like that they don't believe it will ever happen.  It also looks like the CT Governor isn't going to be encouraging it to happen.  Some believe the move (although there hasn't been any indication they are considering it) could happen if the opportunity rises.

Liz and I spent more time on the finances yesterday.  We seemed to be off by $150 and figured we added it twice.  Now its fine.  The new register is working out fine.  We also checked out fares for traveling to North Carolina.  Still not sure if I will fly or take the train.  Either way it will be a long trip.

I decided yesterday that I would go down and visit Mama Roberta and Papa Michael the end of June and during the 4th of July Holiday.  Liz cautioned me it will be during a holiday and we need to be careful about prices, and my limitations.

I didn't do too much last night as I was very exhausted from the day.  I hadn't gone to bed until 1 am Monday.  I made up for it Tuesday by going to bed fairly early.  Tonight will not be the same way.  Considering I am writing this 40 minutes before midnight.  I wanted to stay up long enough to get the taxes done and revise some papers I was working on.

I did my taxes tonight.  I did it through the Turbo Tax app on the Credit Union and despite popular belief it isn't necessarily free.  They do only so much and then tell you that you will have to pay for additional steps.  It took me nearly an hour and half and still had a few glitches.  I have to submit the State refund via mail because they will not fix a date on the form.  I don't know why this particular date is giving them a problem.  I can still print it out and access it until a certain date.  The federal refund has been accepted.

Livia came today and did another awesome job.  Unfortunately it didn't take long for me to make a mess in the kitchen.  I did some cooking.

Well it is time for me to get on the CPAP.

Challenges

I have a few challenges I need to handle.  Everyone does this one and its the taxes.  Every year I procrastinate (because I don’t want to do it or I think its going to be a hassle for one reason or another).  This time I am going to use the H&R Block free stuff instead of the box that comes every year that you have to pay for eventually.  As soon as I finish here I am going to go and do it.
I have been up since 5:30 thanks to the furball society of one.  I feel pretty good considering I had been on the machine until about 4 this morning.  I had some issue with the mask but I just had to reposition my head (that’s usually what has to happen).

The sun is just getting up itself.  There are clouds and according to the weather page its 37 degrees out.  I have turned the heat up but when it gets warmer I am turning it down and opening the windows again.

As I mention in the Pen Pal Blog there has been some issues with the Pen pal groups on Facebook.  Some of the admins are issuing statements and reminders on behavior and some of the members are taking offense to Admins behavior and choice of words.  Considering I have used foul language on a few sites and admins and members were offended I prefer to stay out of it.

I do have to go to the Credit Union again and deposit the money I have wrapped and the money I have from closing out the account.  If I leave it here it will be spent.  I don’t want to do that.
We still have the ants for one crawling around in the cabinet last night by the stove.  Yay.  I will have to deal with that later.

Sky is somewhere and TL is sleeping near me.  Its funny every so often I hear her moan or groan and I tend to worry if she is hurting or sick.  She seems fine.  Not very cuddly today but that’s probably okay.

Monday Musings

You know you will have a great day when you leave your cell phone  at home.  At least some level of peace and quiet and no distractions of texts and pictures.  I will have to charge it when I get home.
I  had a headache and neck ache for most of the morning.  I finally took something at lunch time.  I wasn't up to eating salad even though I had a sausage egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast.
Work was good.  Spent a  big chunk of the day working on refund checks along with the mail.  At first glance there was a lot but it was small.  I also had finished Friday's work as well.  We got our tax stuff for 2015.  I guess it was mid morning.  No email alerts it just showed up in our workday.

Now that I got the tax forms Liz suggested that I may have to talk to the lawyer and see if I need to file my taxes differently then I have in the past.  I usually do the EZ form and sometimes the regular form because of the donations I have made in the last couple of years.
It was a beautiful day today.  Sunny and fairly warm.  It all changed by lunch time.  It became cloudy and much colder.  There is heavy rains predicted for tonight and only tonight.  Showers into Wednesday and rain the rest of that day.

When I got home the kitties were upstairs.  I called to them and they came a running.  It was funny.  I heard this big thud.  They must have been on the chair in the office.  It is great they came down to greet me.  Now they are exploring the house.  I let them downstairs for a little while and he was crying to go back down again.  I think they are just hanging out.

I am finally cooking the pork roast.  It was frozen and so I cooked it for 40 minutes but wasn't ready so I am cooking another 20 minutes.  The roast was about 1.64 lbs so I figured 20 mins per pound. 
After I have dinner I will work on some more of the letters I have here.  Then its bed time for me.


 

Thankful THursday 4/16/2015

1)I am thankful for my family who have helped me through this latest health crisis.

2) I am thankful for the medical profession who strived to help me on the road to recovery.  I am feeling stronger every day.

3) I am thankful for my job and coworkers for their support and love. (yes I said love too) they are my extended family.

4) I am thankful for the home I have.

5) I am thankful for the friends who are in my life.

6) I am thankful for the two kitties that have brought so much to my life.

7) I am thankful for God and his continuous blessings.

It’s Thursday and so far a beautiful a day.  According to the weatherman today would be the best day around here to do outdoor stuff as we will have rain tomorrow morning.  THe weekend is supposed to be awesome.

Who needs metal alarm clocks when I have my Sky?  He got me awake just around 5:30.  I did my “a few more minutes” stance and no sooner he jumped up on the bed.  So of course I got up.  No I didn’t feed them right away I cleaned out the box downstairs at first and then fed them and made breakfast for myself.  I also had a regular coffee (that’s probably why I think I got a good sleep).

I am relieved to see I got one of my two refunds.  I was beginning to get a little nervous because I wasn’t sure when I would get it.  It came at a good time.  I am hoping the other one comes soon. It will help with stuff for now.  I probably should not have shared that but this is also going into my blogs.  

I have a Dr. appointment this afternoon.  Its with Rheumatology/Arthritis. I was supposed to get blood work done but I wasn’t sure if it was for this one or the next appointment with Dr. Sonia (actually I am hoping that was the reason) because I didn’t get it done.   This is funny there is a radio report about cracking knuckles.  Apparently there is a new theory that its okay.  I don’t know about that.

Dear Friends

Dear Friends:

    Well its the most anticipated and stressful day of the year isn’t it?  Its Tax Day.  For those of us who waited until the last day to file.  In this tax season there has been a focus on unscrupulous and fraudulent tax preparation places here in Connecticut as well as everywhere else..  Some were referred to as Store front tax preparing companies for some reason that confused me as the legitimate ones could also be storefront types as well.  They have to be licensed I guess.  The state is offering free preparation as well.  As I mentioned yesterday I don’t have to worry as i managed to get it done on Sunday with little or no problems.  I am not sure what next year will bring but who knows.

I think we got our first April shower for the spring.  It has been raining all morning and it is in the high 50’s.  We are supposed to be getting snow into tomorrow morning.  I am not really looking forward to it and my hope is it won’t amount to much. and from what I hear we are not getting much.  That;s a relief,

Work is going okay.  I got here a little late but I overslept again.  I had set my alarm but I woke up during the night and it really took me a bit of time to get back to sleep.  I even took some cold medicine because I had been sneezing. I worked on the re-address first and then I got the lockbox around 9:30 and an hour later the first round of us mail came.

We found out that MamaJ will be out for another month and half while she is getting better from her bout with the flu and pneumonia.  So I was asked to make a flyer.  I was a little nervous about doing one because you never know how it will come out.

I am supposed to get together with Liz tonight to go shopping for the blouse.  I called her around 2 today but had to leave a message.  I am thinking if she can’t go I still have to go.  I could probably go later on in the week but I am afraid it will be too hectic..  Well I actually don’t have to worry about going alone.  We are meeting at the house and she is going to look at the suit with me and then we are taking off from there.

I have a little more work to get out so I am going to close.....

They Didn't take it

It was rabbit central last night in the back yard.  While I was eating dinner and cleaning up I saw about three or four rabbits feeding on the lawn towards the back of the yard.  I decided to throw out a carrot stick.  I broke it up and threw it out.  They didn’t take it.  I let Mom know about it as she was getting up.

This morning has been not so bad.  I got up in time for my early morning dentist.  I was out within 15 minutes and back home earlier than I expected.  Mom has been doing odds and ends and I started on my taxes.

I spent most of the morning on them and somewhere hit a snafu (it had to be debugged) and I waited for it to do whatever it was supposed to and finally got aggravated enough to get around it.  I finally got to the state refund and before I knew I was done.   Next year I am doing it earlier.  I have a feeling I may have to do it differently then through online. I am thinking of the changes that will be coming along in the near future.

After the taxes Mom and I made The Perfect Pound cake from Bless This Mess Please website.  It was fun.  I did most of the grunt work as Mom calls it and it really was fun.  I see there are many recipes that this chef/writer refers to.  I very pleased that we worked on this together.  OH and this is the first time in a while that Mom made this type of recipe. 

Mom is going to the store and I am just going to relax a little.  I have laundry yet to do and should get it done before too long.  I think we are going to church later.  Either that I will go tomorrow.

I do have to get the minutes written up for February’s 4th Distirct.

Still Recuperating from Double Pneumonia

I am still recuperating from the Double Pneumonia. I spent most of the day watching TV or online or sleeping. I still get the muscle spasms but depending on the time of day it can be strong or light. I did some tossing and turning last night to get comfortable and it took some time but finally got to sleep. I do notice if I get upset it just makes it worse so I had to calm myself down.




I started making the Phone squad messages last night. I only got as far as Janet’s number. Donna K didn’t reply back to me yet either. She really is a winner. I also called a couple of the girls on the bingo list to see if they would fill in for me. The girl did call back and say she would ask her parents. Telka sent me a couple of emails. One was a get well card and the other was to offer to go to do bingo for me. I sent her an email this morning thanking her for the offer. I made the rest of the calls this afternoon.



I got into a debate with Mom about the Taxes and e-failing. She swore last year she filed her taxes via the IRS.Gov site and she insisted we would be able to do it this year as well. if you go here you will see that they provide links to free filing sites. It was very frustrating for about 20 minutes until she saw for her self that indeed it is confusing and that she is thinking twice about using these things.



For obvious reasons I haven’t been out today but it is as forecasted on the news last cloudy and about 55 degrees. The sun did peek out a few times today. We are supposed to get some rain and wind tomorrow.



I have a little confession to make. I am a little apprehensive about going back to work on Monday. I am not sure what to find (probably lots of mail). I am also probably going to get lectures or spoken to about the stuff on top of my sorter. Patti asked me about on Thursday not to question but to see what needs to be done. However, I do think the questioning will be on Monday. The piles that are there are the readdress stuff. I do work on them on a daily basis but it just doesn’t always seem to reduce in size. Most of this stuff is the authorizations, stuff that isn’t vitally important if it is then of late I have been getting it out automatically.





Tonight Mom has her monthly dinner date with her friend Martha. I will be having stew or something not sure as I had a late lunch today.



I have a feeling that my TV viewing will not include the regular PBS fare as it is their fundraising time again. The CREATETV.com has been having all things Louisiana on today.



I am going to go surfing on the net for a bit…

Should I be worried?

As many of you who have been following my blog might know I talked about doing my taxes and completing them by April 13, 2010. The state taxes were mailed on the 15th. On line there was a message it would be six or seven weeks before I would get the state taxes. As it is the 19th right now I am wondering if I need to be worried. I have been checking my account ever other day (don’t want to be anal about it) and there has not been anything. One of the thoughts I briefly entertained was maybe I will be audited?

Work went by quickly. I was able to get all the daily mail done and made progress with the readdress mail. Despite the fact I found a pile or two of Authorizations on my desk. OT was pretty funny. Joanie and I got really silly over a joke we told each other.

Mom was home and in her pajamas when I got home. She had been at a meeting for few hours today and had only been home a short time. She put the eggplant she prepared last night in the oven for our dinner. While we waited for the eggplant to cook she worked on the nominating speeches she will be giving tomorrow at the convention at city hall. As I am writing this she is continuing to work on them. She had to make some calls regarding an issue for one of her boards. It didn’t sound good but I am sure it will be resolved.

Tomorrow is pay day and bill paying day. I will be giving mom the money for the car repair from last month. She will be happy about that. While I am working Mom will be having lunch with the Knitwits and then getting ready for the convention. We decided that we would be going in separate cars as she didn’t want to go to Stonebridge after the convention. I don’t think I want to be staying all that long either as it is NCIS marathon night with USA and ION.

I finally made an appointment to get my hair done for Saturday. I wanted it for 3 pm but I got a call back on my phone asking if it would be better at 3:30. We played telephone tag.

I moved around some emails and I was going to stay up and do it but I am starting to get tired again so I think I will just head on to bed.

Tax Day 2010

Today is the day where people across the country race to file their taxes. I did mine the other day and mailed my state taxes this morning. I hope it gets there by midnight. I am confident there won’t be a problem with it. H&R Block sent me an email the other day or this morning to let me know it was accepted.

Apparently it was also the day that the “Tea Party” made an appearance in the New Haven Area. There was a large gathering at Long Wharf around 12:30 and I saw them when I was driving back from the Dentist.

The rest of my day was okay. I didn’t get to finish the lockbox for today because of my schedule getting mucked up. I had the dentist appointment that took longer than planned. I will have to finish it tomorrow.

I spent some time with Telka and her family tonight. I had left my ID holder with other cards at her house on Wednesday. I went over and got it and then we chatted. I was back her after 8.

Now I am going to bed.

I did it

Well I did it! Just about 15 minutes ago I finished up doing my taxes. It only took an hour. I downloaded or installed and purchased the program and let it do its thing. It probably took more than an hour. I installed it and then did the step by step for both the federal which was e-filed and the state income tax. I have to mail the state income tax tomorrow morning. I don’t think it will take that long to get up there. Either that I will have to do the DSL thing and do it over night. I think I will be getting just about $2k back.

I also saw Dr. Becker today. The entire visit was over an hour and fifteen minutes. She did the exams and said I did well but she would like me to have an ultrasound. She wants me to take the multi-vitamin with D. Get more exercise (and told me ways in which to do it). She encouraged me not to think of eating right as “a diet” but as a change. She wants me to get the mammogram too. Do things for exercise. Walk, do some thing in between the commercial breaks…etc. You know the drill. I have the ultrasound next week and the mammogram as soon as I call them I guess.

I also did some other stuff today that should get me in hot water. Others have said not to worry about it but that’s easier said than done. I had gone done to pick up my breakfast and ran right into Sue R who was leaving the restaurant. I stopped short and was going to turn around and hide but that didn’t happen. I told her that I had left something there and was going to get it. Not very honorable I realize. I got my breakfast (pancakes and coffee) and headed back upstairs and prayed that I didn’t run into Sue again. Well I ran into (as I was getting off the elevator with my breakfast) Sally T (Director) instead and I wanted to die! I had been spoken to about this a few weeks go.

The rest of the day I worked on the mail. I had it all opened and sorted except for the mail from the lobby. I will put it in the piles and then deliver it. All that took me just until after 4. The rest of the time I was scanning. I did surf the web for a bit.

I was tired by the time I got home. I told Mom how the appointment went and then I came upstairs to set up the tax stuff. I admit I was getting a little antsy because I was getting impatient that the computer was taking too long and I didn’t have certain things and I was afraid the programs would conflict.

We had dinner and then I continued with the whole tax thing. Now though I am going to bed. See you tomorrow.
