Had a very interesting Weekend

I was very sick on Friday.  I believe I had a stomach virus.  I was vomiting most of Friday and by Saturday I was sleeping the entire day away and getting up occasion for the required feeding and trips to the bathroom.  I was having a hard time walking but not realizing it until Sunday that it was swollen.
After several messages back and forth to neighbor Kim I decided to call my PCP and the on call doc returned and after listening to me explain he told me to go to the ER and get test for the Corvid19 virus.  I got dressed in my sweats and top and headed to YNHH.  I parked the car and the Valet parking took it and I waited for my turn.  I was taken in quickly and given basic triage.  Then   I was taken to the rest of ER and put in a room and this Doc told me I didn’t need the virus test.
However he did say I needed an ultra sound to see what the problem was with my leg.  So they eventually took me to DI.  I don’t know how long it took but after that they brought me back to ER.  It had to be 9 because NCIS:LA was on the TV.    Some time passed and they informed me I would be admitted to take care of the cellulitis and the noninclusive blood clot.  They had done some lab work earlier and put some kind of IV to start the antibiotic.
I was in the ER until about 1:30 with an occasional visit from a variety of doctors.  One was thrilled I didn’t have the Virus and I would be going to the 7th FL which was normally the Pediatric wing.   I am here to tell you it was brightly painted and brightly lit.   Once I got to the floor I was put in my room.  I was able to have a sandwich and something to drink.
They took vitals, and I think they started giving some meds then and then again around 5 in the morning.  Not long after that my roommate started waking up.  She was quite a challenge.  I suspect she was autistic because she was loud or crying and elderly.   I couldn’t tell if she was speaking out loud or on the phone.  She would be going home later that night.  I was surprised that she left so late.  The next roommate came in the room at 5 Tuesday morning.  The area was cleaned and prepped two hours prior.
Tuesday I had breakfast and watched TV and got cleaned up.  Since I didn’t have a change of clothes I didn’t want to take a shower.  They did move me from the room to a “Parent’s room” to wait for my discharge papers.  There was some hold up that was making me anxious (printer not working).  So once that was taken care of she walked me to the elevators and I headed to ER to get my car and head home to my kitties and to the bed.
Since then I made a trip to pharmacy, made appointments for follow up , ordered a couple of meals, and got back to some sort of normal living.

The Last few weeks

When I originally started this entry it March 13, 2014.  It was my first week back at work from vacation and I thought I was getting over my Lupus flare up.  That week I ended up having a 24 hour bug then by the end of the week I wasn’t feeling better.  It turned out I was having my second stage of Lupus flare up.  i started coughing and all kinds of things going on.  Last Monday I went to the doctor and shortly after that I was sent to the hospital with AFIB.  It turns out I had pneumonia/bronchitis and fluid around the heart.  So the next two days included some tests, resting, and meds.

MY roommate was an older woman who was anxious to go home and at one point she almost did.  She did end up leaving before I did on Wednesday.   She was becoming confused, and agitated.  They would move her out of the room for several hours at a time so it wouldn’t be inconvenience.  It also turned out she was resident at WRNH.

When I got home late WEdnesday it was great.  Liz and I did laundry, and got settled in.  THe kittens were happy to see me despite the fact they wouldn’t come out at first from the closet.  Sky eventually did.

Over the last couple of days LIz went and got food for me and and we had conversations that were at times proved uncomfortable.  Liz acknowledged that I have been ill but I have left things go.  So in the moments I feel up to it I do what I can.  Sweeping, finishing some laundry, paying bills.  While trying to get rest.

We did get a snow shower today and it is The first day of Spring. It is supposed to keep snowing for a few more hours.

Things have been hectic

Things have been hectic.   I helped EH with the signature and lit drop Tuesday in the pouring rain.  I had to leave by 7:30.  I still had to see Mom before meeting M&T.

I got to Gaylord by 8.  Mom was watching NCIS and was relieved to see me.  We spent about half an hour. Never did get to meet with M&T.  We both had things to do.

I was home by 9:30, exhausted and not so hungry.  I didn’t do much except watch TV and then go to bed.

Wednesday work was hectic.  We had a party for EH.  After work I was so tired I went home.  I found BC working on the roof.  Short time his son came and did the lawn.  HE had some questions about the door so we called Brother #2 and worked out what the results would be.  Later on he made a request that the final payment for the “project” be paid

Sis stopped by after having a dodgy phone conversation with her.  Partially I was having the conversation with BC and the other is the service on the phones are crappy.  Have I ever said I hate cell phones?  We went over stuff that needed to be organized and gather some stuff up for Mom.

I ordered O’s bridal shower gift.  They are two Martha Stewart mixing bowls and I am praying they will be here by Saturday.  IF not I am not going to be happy.

After all that I didn’t really get a lot done except send some emails and watch TV and get the garbage out.  I went to bed around midnight.

Thursday I woke I found Mom’s PC at the “window’s log in”.  Tried every which way I could to get to desk top-no luck.  I contacted TM and she said their computers had a lot of updates and probably will have to ask Mom her info.  Sis isn’t worried.

I went to see Mom and Sis was there.  We had the checks signed and she looked at some of the cards.  L stayed until about 6 and then I stayed for a longer visit.  We got the checks signed while I was there.  I left some time after 6.

When I got home BC was still there working and cleaning up.  I paid him and just as he was leaving I noticed a ladder on the ground.  I thought it was his and it was actually DB’s next door.  It turned into a mess.  He ran over it.  He also dented the fence.  So DB stopped and talked with him. He was annoyed and I think he was annoyed with me.  BC Promised to get him a new one.

For the rest of last night I watched TV.  I still didn’t get the laundry done.  I was supposed to make calls for the club and didn’t even do that.

Today I will work and maybe catch up on stuff.  I need to get the calls made and get the house in order.  I need to check my calendar to see what’s coming up.  This weekend is going to be busy.  Next weekend as well.

Yesterday I got to the hospital around 5 I think. When I arrived Mom was having an Echo-cardiogram and various other tests. Liz, Bob, and Nelson were all sitting there talking. Actually I think Bob was letting them do all the talking. We all had to wear gowns. Mom had been gone a long while I guess Bob had been there an hour already. He seemed very uncooperative about giving views on what the next step is for Mom. We helped Mom get back into bed and found out she does have a couple of infections. She seems more lucid but just tired. She didn’t want us to turn people away from visiting. Yet that morning she was telling me she couldn’t handle more. That was confusing.

She reminded us where to look for her check book and to see what was paid as far as bills but I tried to look at one check book and it was so confusing. I need to ask her or at least bring it to her to show her. Liz offered to help but I told her I could do it. I feel that I am definitely missing something.

I left the house after 9:30 making stops to neighbors (I just wasn’t up to going to bingo) I talked with Kim and Don and had some puppy loving from Lilly. I updated both of them on Mom’s status.

It was well after 10:15 when I got there and the troops were in full bingo mode. Ryan was calling the numbers, Jillian, Nicole (and Hanna?) were there serving and helping out. There were at least 16 players today.

After bingo I came home and hung out. I have the sprinkler watering some of the plants outside, and watching Pirates of the Caribbean. I opened Mom’s mail trying to sort the stuff will have to look at it again.

Around 1:30 started getting ready for Dave’s Party. He had called me earlier to say that Rose and her family wouldn’t be getting there until 4 and that I had a choice to either come at 2 or wait until Rose and family arrive. I went earlier.

When I got there I hung out at the pool with Dave and Jim (both Jims) and their neighbors. I never knew Jim was a smoker (I think he is a once in a blue Moon smoker). For the next several hours we talked, went to the store and ate.

After the party I came home. I called Liz a couple of times this afternoon before Liz got to the hospital. One to ask her if she could ask Mom where else the other bank account/checkbook was-didn’t have to because I found it while we were talking. I called again around 6 or so to see how Mom was doing. Mom was sleeping and of course not eating. Liz told me I didn’t have to come tonight so I didn’t. I will fill out the checks for Mom to sign tomorrow and bring them to her.

Last but not least 84 years ago today My father was born in Norwalk CT. Happy Birthday Dad! I miss you.

Update on Mom

Well it has been a few days since I wrote again.  I have either been too tired or too busy to write.  This might be short so I apologize.

Mom is still in the hospital and will be for another week at least.  The prognosis is this:  What we thought was non-aggressive cancer is now just pre-cancerous cysts.  They will not do any surgery for the foreseeable future.  She has had a blocked bowel and has been getting enemas unfortunately they are not working.  So they will be stopping those.  They started getting her to walk in the last few days.  She has had a shower at least once (thanks to Liz).  They did take her off the O2 and IV through nose.    They are concerned that there is an embolism forming in her chest and will be keeping an eye on that.

She has had many visitors through the time and it pleased her immensely.  Most of the time the Rivera clan came to visit but so has Bob a few times and Diane and Chris.  Many from various boards as well.  Jim should be next week sometime.

While Liz is looking after her care I have made sure her appointments have been rescheduled or cancelled.  The Most recent was her Prevention council Meeting.  I told her this morning it was almost taken care of.

Things at home are good.  I have regained access to the net as of Monday or Tuesday thanks to Mike B.  Despite my irritations with him over other matters (concerning Mom).  The roof on the garage is almost done.  I found the house keys I thought I lost on Tuesday.  I continue to make sure things around the house are in order.  The dehumidifier gets emptied every day.  I emptied the dishwasher after two days.  It actually has silverware in it.

I still have a pile of laundry in the middle of my bedroom to take care of but that can be done tonight when I get home.  I probably will vacuum the house in preparation for when Jim arrives.  There is still food in the house but running low.  I probably will go shopping sometime this weekend to restock things.

I know I have to go shopping for Olga’s shower that is in two weeks I have no idea what to get her.  I can check the registry when I get a chance.  It will be nice I am sure.

I have a lot of other commitments but I can’t really think of them right now.  I will check my own calendar and figure it out when I can.

I made the balance payment for the trip this morning.  It actually is being mailed today.  It should be there in time for the deadline of august 1.  I haven’t even done much for that trip in the ways of preparation.  Except wishing it was here.

Happily LiveJournal has returned albeit slowly.  I really missed it and so did many other members.  They all posted about being back on site. I had threatened to cancel my accounts there if they continue to have problems but what I think I will do is have a third back up-actually that’s what I have had anytime the blogs are down.

Okay well I need to move along now so I will check in later on tonight….have a great afternoon.

Family Update

Hello and Happy Mothers Day to all of you. I hope you had a wonderful day today. I know I did. As in the past I spent the morning playing bingo with the residents at the Nursing home. The rest of the afternoon was enjoyable. We had hot dogs and hamburgers at My sister’s and BIL’s home.

Things for me are going well. I had some Doctor’s appointments in the last few weeks and they were fine. I continue to make progress with the WW @ work program. My last weigh in was on Friday and that was very successful. Each day is a progress and I am enjoying it.

Work continued to be a little hectic as I had to change my vacation plans around when a co-worker had some serious health issues come up and we were a little understaffed and of course heading to end of FY. I have been taking long weekends to use up excess vacation time I need to use before the end of the year. The volume of work for every one has tripled. We have some challenges ahead as we get new billing assignments and new methods of doing the work.

I have been procrastinating these last few weeks at getting my passport renewed. Even though it’s only a few documents they seemed to overwhelm. I got the pictures taken Friday and submitted the application at the Post office Saturday. I am supposed to go to Niagara Falls in the late summer early part of fall.

The Woman’s club is planning on doing a fashion show at the West River Healthcare Facility here in town. WE are hoping to do it some time in June and July and we hope the residents will enjoy it. We have elections coming up in a few weeks as well as other year end activities. We are still planning on some summer activities before we start up in the fall so we should be fairly busy. Our Girls Volunteer Club was a finalist in our towns “Mayor’s Youth Award presentation and we are incredibly proud of them.

The DTC (Democratic Town Committee) has some really exciting activities and fundraisers coming up. Our State organization is having The 2011 Jefferson Jackson Bailey Dinner in May. I have been invited a few times. It basically is a get together of all the democrats and has a good time.

Locally we have an awards banquet and auction fundraiser. WE also continue to prepare for the municipal election in November.

Mom is doing okay. She did have some back issues that caused concern but she is much better these days. She received news late last month regarding my Aunt Rita. Her youngest sister and it isn’t good. She had been losing weight and not eating and various other signals. Sadly it was discovered she has Advanced Stage Pancreatic Cancer. Mom left here on Wednesday to visit. She returned on Saturday.

Bob and Ethel and their daughter came for dinner on Easter Sunday. It was a lot of fun. Bob is finishing up the semester teaching. I don’t know if he will be doing it during the summer. I think he would like to but it depends on the colleges will need and pay him.

My talented and wonderful niece and her boyfriend moved into an apartment in Brooklyn NY together last month. They are having a great time putting it together. I am not sure when she starts touring with the King and I. Her Boyfriend is awesome and we like him a lot he is from the Netherlands and they have been together (dating wise) for a few years now.

We-or I should say Mom got an email from John last month. He has been very busy in Korea. He has informed us he will be transferred to Washington State in September 2011. We are very relieved.

Rob has been kind of quiet. He has been posting now and then on Facebook. He is working still.

Jim was hoping to bring the kids up for Easter. He has been working steadily most weekends. That is until this past couple of weeks I guess the temporary assignment came to an end. He is trying to get them to hire him part time. The kids seem to have colds this past week. Jamie started Lacrosse but was sidelined for a week because of a minor strain.

Liz and Nelson and their family are doing pretty good. Liz has been a Dossier at a local museum and Nelson just graduated from Citizen’s Police Academy in Milford. Liz was nominated or asked to organize our family reunion recently so she is jumping into that with both feet.

Each of their children is doing well. The eldest Cheryl and her family are preparing for her youngest son’s HS Graduation in June.

Nelson and his wife Lisa are enjoying their baby son immensely. They have had visits with the in-laws and are both working.

Rich continues to work in construction and doesn’t bartending when construction is slow. He is a great Uncle to all the younger kids of the family.

Chris continues to work as a cook/chef at Quinnipiac College in Hamden. He spends time with his kids as much as possible.

Adam moved into an apartment in town and continues prepare for his October wedding with Olga. They have been having been spending time with their families as well.

Well its time for me to close out I am hoping you enjoyed this and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Wednesday Feb 28, 2007

It is before 9:30 at night. I am closing down the house for the night. Today was a good day despite the fact I was still tired. I woke up around 5 and stayed in bed until 6. I started getting ready for work by then. I did get online and replied to some emails and read some forums.

I got to work at my normal quarter of 8. I did my usual stuff picking up the mail and collection letters. I went to the office and looked over stuff that Nina did. AT first I was really critical because she had logged off my computer and locked it. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to get on it but I was wrong and was able to get on. She also left a disk I used for the monthly reports for the bad addresses in the disk drive. I told her about it when she stopped by for her eyeglass case I found on the floor.

I got a chance to talk to Ann and asked if there were any problems or complaints I should know about. She said no. I told her how the day went yesterday. She was glad to hear that it went well.

Shirley did come in yesterday as it was indicated by Kent but she only stayed half a day. She wasn’t in today nor will she be for the rest of the week. Gayle came around with a flyer for a collection for Shirley. Jean H asked me the particulars and I went to Gayle and asked her. The niece lived up here and had cancer. I would later find out that the woman was also Marta G’s MIL. Registration is also having a collection for her.

The volume of the mail was light I was able to finish it all in one day. I did do some readdressing but not a lot. I managed to get the last two days of the bad addresses done and did some folding for letters. Andrea and another girl were told to give me some of the Appointment scheduling reminders they were given to fold.

It seems that Andrea will be in Ophthalmology department over on Howard Avenue. I was so sad to hear this. She is a really sweet girl and I will miss her. She seemed to have mixed feelings about it. Time will tell if it is permanent or not.

Ms Daphne had to be taken to the ER today. For two days she has been very weak, and lightheaded and many other symptoms. Ouida her supervisor brought her there. I had offered to help but they thanked me and said it was okay. I checked in with Ouida and she hadn’t heard anything and was going to call the ER. I hadn’t heard any other news when I left for the day.

I called Mom earlier today but she was sleeping. She was still exhausted but they got her up at 5 a.m. this morning. I told her I would see her later on in the day.

It was four when I left. I left with several others and we were all talking about parking at least some of us were. When I got to the car I was anxious to get moving. Everyone around me seemed to go either to slow or didn’t know how to drive. My stomach was starting to feel achy.

I got to the house before 4:30. I gathered the mail, checked phone messages and printed up the messages for Mom, I made a few phone calls and watched a little bit of the TV. I decided to change my clothes and freshen up before going to the hospital.

It was nearly 5 when I left the sun was still out and shining. I drove to the hospital and got off at Plains Road and went to the hospital from there. It brought me out to where Rich lives and I avoided some traffic.

When I arrived I got the pass and headed up to Mom’s. The volunteer at the desk told me Mom was popular today. I would find out that Tessa and Liz were there. I could actually hear Tessa as I was coming in through the double doors. Mom was just finishing her dinner. We were talking about a whole bunch of stuff. Actually Mom and Tessa were talking while Liz and I were talking about Nelson’s phone call from the doctor. Mom’s friend Sis came by for a visit. Tessa and Liz left around 6. Mom and I talked about my day and things in general. The nurses came in to give Mom some more needles to have for medication (the drips I think). The nurses were having a hard time with it. I am not sure if they ever got it in. I left before they did.

Oh before I left Kerry R stopped by. She was heading to the same healthcare forum that Tessa was attending. She stayed a short while. Mom and Kerry talked about the recent finance board meeting that was held and they talked about the budget that is awaiting to be voted on in Milford.

It was dark and a little chilly when I left. I came home and put the garbage out. After that was done I decided to finish off the rotisserie chicken I had bought last night. I ate it like I was King Henry the 8th. I ate it right off the bone. After a while I thought I was going to hurl. The gagging feeling passed and I decided to throw the rest of it away. I put the rest of the garbage out and continued to watch TV.

I called Jim tonight. He had called while I was at the hospital but didn’t leave a message. I thought I would call him back and see how he was doing. Apparently he is doing okay because he wasn’t home or he was sleeping.

Well I am getting tired and my fingers are hurting so I am going to say good night. The clock is set for 6 am. That should give me plenty of time to get ready for work and do some stuff on line before going to work.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
