Recently had a zoom meeting

Last week the New England Chapter of the Linden Hall Alumnae had an informative chat with the Dean of Academics at Linden Hall School.  He shared about the classes the students are currently taking that include lots of college classes and others that interest them that are currently not being offered and they and they have made arrangements to get it done.

I found that interesting but something that concerned me was Katherine’s comment that we are still not getting enough people to join the New England chapter.  She is afraid we may not be continuing and that would be terrible.

This kickstarted me to contact Denise B from class of 1982 and see if she would be interested in helping the chapter.  I am not sure if she is though and maybe it will kickstart me into maybe contacting others in the state.

A few days later we received  a thank you  from the school for sponsoring Mt Gretna day.  I was unable to Contribute but there apparently was a substantial amount collected.  Mt Gretna Day is a day the entire School takes off in the fall and goes to a town (MT Gretna) that has fun things to do.  Skating, Food, games etc.  My memories are hazy now but I do remember some things and I am glad we went.

Katherine sent out email invitations for the final in person luncheon for the year.  Its up in Concord New Hampshire at the common man and these are the dates:

Saturday, November 11

Sunday, November 12

Wednesday, November 14

Saturday, December 9

Sunday, December 10

Wednesday, December 14

Unfortunately none of these dates work for me so I have already sent my regrets.  Why you ask? THe 11th is the celebration of Life for my coworker Denise.  Wednesdays I work.  I have meet ups the following week and its too close to other things I need to do here in the state.

I hope to kept being active in the group.  My hope also is that others join.

New England Chapter of the Linden Hall School Alumnae Association

This past year I was invited to become a member of the New ENgland Regional/chapter Alumni Association of Linden Hall School for Girls.  In the months followed we had zoom meetings (that I ended up having to miss because of scheduling conflicts.

In early spring a few of the girls organized our first in person meeting lunch for June.  It was held at Michael’s Harborside Restaurant in Newburyport MA.  I drove up that morning while the others drove in from New Hampshire, Maine, Mass.  We spent the next couple of hours talking of our memories of our time at Linden Hall.

Near the end we got to discuss our goals and plans for the future of the chapter as we are the pilot.

We will be helping the alumnae association promote the school. We were told there is no hared Mary Dixon  Chapel.    If that's not working let  me know.  Doing this on my er. HaptE ThThe virtual  tour was an hour and let by a Debbie and one other lovely lady.  It showed the day students  lounge and the  beautiful organ.  Those of us in attendance shared memories and  asked questions.

There is a lot of interest  in other regional chapters  across  the country.

We have been given an assignment  if you will. We have to reach out to our new england sisters and encourage  them to join.  I have one for a class of 82 who lives in CT that  need to reach out too.

There are a lot of other activities coming down the pike for the Alumnae Association and although I am not going to be able to participate in all of them its nice to see.

Glad its Friday

Even though I am making progress with the mail I am still behind.  I am also trying to keep up with the claim forms but the printers have not been working since the upgrade.  So I have a couple of patients to scan to the rep.  I am also trying to keep up with CD uploading and it’s hit a snag with one of them.    Good thing? We have Monday off for Martin Luther King’s Birthday.

I almost missed the staff meeting and basically making sure we had our vaccines and boosters uploaded for them to have on record.  I did mine at lunch time.  Supervisor reviewed protocol for the time we can use (they pay for five days) it’s a one-time deal.

The printer that prints out the HFCA claim form was working by lunchtime so after the meeting and after finishing the CD uploads (yes I caught up with those) I worked on mailing out the claim forms.  I think I was done by 2:30-3 and right about then I got an email from Supervisor asking me if the printer was working.   I explained yes they were and the one claim form for one of our Reimbursement people was scanned to her (but she doesn’t have access to email as she and a few others took even longer weekend then I am.

I still have to finish the mail I was working on and sort it.  I still have to work on the Health logic correspondence as well.  Then work on everything else.  My hope is to go in early on Tuesday.  I will do the claim forms first and then the mail.

AT lunchtime I wrote another email to Attorney B2 to see if there was any progress made with Lawyer man 1.  I haven’t heard from him yet.   I am already preparing a strongly worded email to him if he doesn’t respond to this one.

It looks like I will have to do another sleep study.  The last one failed.  She is not sure what happened but it has been known to happen which it only recorded 59 minutes of sleep and that’s not enough so we scheduled another one for the 26th.  This time it will be in the lab in West Haven.  The follow up appointment was moved to February 15th in West Haven.   So I will come home and feed the cats and pack an overnight bag.  I am thinking I will take a personal day off for that week.

My fellow LH Alumnae continue to have a sad week.  One of my classmates lost her husband this week.  I don’t know the circumstances but I need to get her a card to her and her family this week.  There is an obituary finally for Mrs. Herr.  I learned many things from this obituary.  For Example she is also a member of the GFWC international organization.  She was part of woman’s club in Lititz.  I wonder if she attended any of the International conventions. I am trying to read up on Manheim.

OH and I discovered that my meetup friend Krystal was not in the Waterbury fire but this one.  I am familiar with the area.  I have been further North of there were there were some beautiful homes and such.

I had coffee tonight and surprisingly I am tired.  So I am going to take the hint and go to bed and listen to Profiles in Folk before falling  asleep.

Really don't want to go out this afternoon.

I am not really looking forward to going to the Hematologist this afternoon.  I have a couple of reasons.  One is I have get INR level checked I am sure.  The other is the weather is going to be crappy.
I am sure that the dosage for warfarin is going up and I will be a pin cushion.  The bruise from the last time I had blood taken hasn’t gone away from my left arm.
The weather really isn’t going to get crappy until later tonight with thunderstorms and possible hail of course that’s okay as I am not going anywhere tonight and of course if there isn’t anything on TV I will go to bed early.
My grocery list is getting a little longer now.  I am trying to decide if I should go this afternoon after my appointment or should I wait a couple of days.  I still have enough beef and fish, and pork for the meals and I barely make salads but I have to start using the lettuce part.  Actually the small grape tomatoes are starting to look like red raisins.
The kitties are currently at my feet on the bed.  I hate to move but I need to do the shot and get ready for my Dr. Appointment.  They have been sleeping on the bed at night most nights.  They also were sitting with me on the sofa before I went to bed and they stayed for a short time.  Of course they got up at their normal time this morning and I got up at 6.  They have been fed and watered.
A few days ago I received an email from Endicott College‘s President Steven DiSalvo with his monthly or weekly update as to what the school is doing during the pandemic.  Apparently the Alumni department is planning several virtual activities over the next several weeks to keep in practice the social distancing.  He also shared how the students and staff are helping in their own way during the pandemic.  I am a little apprehensive about going to the Alumni activities.  I have to look at what they are first.
Linden Hall Alumnae asked all of us to send cards of encouragement to the students who had to stay on campus.  Sadly I haven’t done it yet.  I need to check the FB pages and see what they are up to.
Apparently not much is going on except connecting with other classmates they haven’t seen.  They were doing that Share your senior class picture in support of the class of 2020.  Of course the BBB released an article to not do this because of the personal information.  Why do this?  I am not I don’t have a scanner and I don’t know where I can find my class picture from there online.
Oh and there is survey asking if we would like to see a woman as Headmistress of the school.  The Headmaster has retired, stepped down etc. and some of my fellow schoolmates feel that a woman should be in the position.
Haven’t heard anything about Southern (at least alumni stuff) or Gateway.
Well it time for the televisit.. check in later.

Few things bothering me

I am moving slowly again.  I knew I would.  Right now though I am a little annoyed with the laptop.  It won’t open one of my other google accounts and I wanted to do something with it.  It has also froze a few other sites and it shouldn’t.

I am also concerned about one of the titans.  One of them is having loose poo. I don’t know if it is the food I am giving them or the fact I really have to clean the litter box.  It's been hard to clean out the litter box.  Not all the clumping is coming out and it really should.  It ends up hurting my wrists.

The wrists.  For the past few days my wrists and forearms have been hurting just like they did when I was first getting the aches and pains almost sixteen years ago.  If I move it slowly it hurts.  I am trying to find the prednisone that I bought.  Can’t find it.  I may have to buy plaquenil.
Still have to figure out the GoodRX stuff.

I had my financial investment review today.  Personally I didn’t feel it was necessary to be there.  It was a waste of time for both parties.  He was trying very hard to get me to put my savings account into the investment.  I have my reason for having it.   My investments are doing well but probably could do better.  He wants me to also contribute more to it as well.  I am sure it makes sense to do it but I have other priorities first.

I got home around 1 had some lunch.  Then actually dove into getting the litter box out back cleaned up.  As always made a bigger mess in the kitchen.  I still have to do the litter mat but it can’t be put in the washing machine.  I will have to do it the way it recommends.  I just don’t know if the hose outside is working well.  I don’t use it much.

I did some laundry and need to continue to do it and get them hung up.  I was going to put some vases in boxes today but its not working for me.  Will do it tomorrow.

OH I did get  an email from ActivitiesDirector at the nursing home.  They are not having Bingo the first weekend of September so she gave me two later dates.  I picked the one at the end of the month.  So I will be doing bingo two weeks in a row at the end of September.  I just hope I will remember that when the time comes.

I got a wonderful Birthday Postcard from Linden Hall school alumni.  I posted a thank you on the FB page.  I got a couple of likes!  I was afraid there would be someone says “I didn’t get a card for my birthday.  You never know if you should post it or not or send a quick email off.  Then what would be the point of having a FB page?

The two lb roast that I cooked tonight came out really well.  Seasoned it , with italian seasons (Oregona flakes, salt, pepper, and garlic), cut up an onion and cooked it for 45 minutes to an hour.  Let it sit for about 10 minutes and cut in to it and it was great.  Cleaned up the kitchen a little and then took a shower.

Fell asleep on the couch until a short time ago and now going to bed....

Woke my Sister up

It is never a good idea to butt dial your family.  They end up calling you five minutes later.  It was about 5:15 or so and I was waking up myself and decided to check emails and get rid of stuff because “space” was limited.  In doing so I accidently dialed my sister.  She called back twice. (Cell phone wonky).  I can probably expect a halfhearted tongue lashing when I see her next.  I explained everything was fine.  She went back to bed and I went and fed the cats.

I fed them made some coffee and then came back to bed and surfed the net and did some crosswords.  I took a nap.  Tiger has been sitting at my feet for a while now.  I have about an hour or two before going to the bank and getting my haircut.  I will then go to Kohl’s and get the sweat clothes and then go to the gym for a while.

Hey guess what?  I got a large envelope from Linden Hall School Alumnae office.  It looks like they are reactivating my status as class rep which means I have to hit my classmates up for money when needed or get them to write up class notes for publication.  The only problem is…I can’t remember all the names.   I probably can look on line or in my files.  Sigh.  I keep up with most of them via FB through the Linden Hall FB pages.  It looks like I have a lot of emails and updates to download. Sigh.  Earlier this month they sent updates on upcoming activities.

Just checked for Endicott recently got an Alumnae newsletter.  They are having several gatherings in the next few weeks one is to meet the newest Head coach in Boston for a meet and greet. They already sent the newsletter booklets that usually have notes on classmates.  Apparently they are doing well in sports.  There was also some news that they don’t shout about.

The google alerts I get for Southern, and Gateway are usually about sports.  The same with Foran HS and my Elementary school but I also chat with them a little bit more and check on the FB pages for them too.

Well it’s after 9:30 and I need to start getting ready for the activities Wish me luck.

The Do Not Call List

Last night I heard the answering machine beeping.  I checked it and it was some law firm talking about a “law suit”.  The number they gave me I looked up and it was one of those IRS scam numbers.  I called the number on the ID and knew it was a scam and they wanted my name.  I told them I would contact the law if they call me again.  This is about the third or 4th time I have gotten these calls.

So my question is what is the point of having the FEDERAL “Do not call list”? When these kinds of scams continue?  I got a couple of the “Fireman’s and Policeman’s Association” calls last month and I had just put my numbers on the lists.

I did get a message from Livia she was able to arrange her schedule for today to come and clean the house after 12:30. I was grateful.  I left her money and access to the house.  She won’t have to make my bed since I changed the sheets last night.  I didn’t do the guest room yet but it wouldn’t surprise me if she does it before I get home.

Work has been good.  The mail volume very small so I worked on the refunds for most of the day.  We have one more day until the rebranding begins.  We found out the company that was helping with the rebranding went under so the stationary that we were expecting won’t be here for another couple of weeks so we have to use up the stuff we do have.  I actually still have more e training to do.  If I get lots done today I may spend the afternoon working on the training sessions.

We got word yesterday and late last week the NLRB has ruled that Grad students can and will be recognized as unions where ever they are.  Local 33 is filing certification papers with the NLRB to be certified so they can vote on unionizing.

I received message that the LH alumni bulletin will be coming out soon.  I don’t remember if its digital for me or hard copy.  It will be cool either way.  I still have to remember to send Miss S her birthday card.  It was requested that we all send one by a deadline and so she could get them all.

Apparently I need to catch up on some Endicott alumni emails.  I missed a whole bunch of stuff including a news letter, activities and invites (not that I can easily attend them).  I will update once I go through them.

Monday Musings

It turned out to be another beautiful day around here.  I wasn’t out in it long enough to enjoy it but from what I could see from any window I went to it looked great.  It turned out to be a beautiful drive home (despite the normal Monday afternoon commute traffic)

I was relieved I didn’t have to water the grass this morning as we had a good soaking overnight and it looked like it was not drying out yet.  I started to do it this evening but I was getting impatient with the sprinkler either going to high or not enough.  I do find it annoying whoever did the lawn today really should have unraveled the hose and put it back.  It looks like I don’t have to feel too bad about the sprinkler thing because we are supposed to get some rain tonight.

Work seemed busy but I did notice there wasn’t too much or very little of the NEMG stuff.  Luckily I was working a lot on the Insurance Refund Data entry.  Unfortunately near the end of the day I mixed something up so now LB and I need to find it before mailing them out.

The kitties were waiting for me in the kitchen.  When I got in I opened a window I saw Sky sunning himself at. I also had to clean up the bathroom again.  One of them made a mess this morning and I didn’t have time to do it until tonight.  I let them downstairs and I am pretty sure they are still there.  Tonight I won’t get crazy like I did last night and just let tiger come up when she is ready.

Debra called today she is back in town this week but can’t meet in person so we are had a phone session tonight.  We talked about work, family, taking care of the house and of course history.

Linden Hall revamped their website for the upcoming year.  It really looks great.  Holy Moly classes begin in 28 days.  That’s exciting.  I can’t remember when we started the year I was there.

Liz emailed me about a condo for sale over on Forest Road.  The price is fairly hefty but it is a two-bedroom condo.  I will be calling for an appointment this week.  It’s kind of funny because Debra and I talked about that after Jim asked me about it during the weekend.  If this is something that turns out it will be good then I need to start figuring out what I am going to keep and what is going to be tossed.

Well I am going to bed…I am tired and I have to do some things tomorrow (like empty the washer and dryer) and fold clothes and of course get ready for work and go to work.

Saturday Doings

Every time I have an very busy weekend I usually like to have the following weekend or part of the weekend to relax and catchup.  Today is that day.  I don't have to be anywhere if I don't need to and its pretty cold out to boot so I want to stay in with the kitties.  I have some laundry to do and some cooking but nothing that needs to be done outside.

I am sad to find out a dear friend of mine has a very sick kitty.  Jack has cancer and they don't know how long he has.  I met Jack a long time ago when I visited his Mom for our first "Andromeda" fan weekend.  At least i think that is the one.  I have followed Mardi ever since then and loved hearing about her babes.  I want her to know that we here in the  KP home are thinking of you and sending prayers.

You all remember when I wrote earlier this week that I yelled at the cats for something they did?  Well this article couldn't have come at a better time.  So since I found it on FB originally and looked into and saw some things I have found myself doing I am trying extremely hard not to do or trying to do more for them.   They still don't like getting their coats brushed.  Sky keeps trying to bite the brush and Tiger tries and walks away.  I am always checking the water bowls especially after hearing that refreshed water can cause the bug they had in early January.  I always kiss their head and body.  I speak in a calm voice all the time and work from there.  Tiger is at the foot of the bed and I am about to check on Sky.  I think he is in the box mattress again.

Got an email from DR. T today.  She had submitted an article to the GFWC International magazine Club Woman and it was posted this month.  It included our two out going girls club presidents A and J and all though I can see the entire article through the email (its probably a blurb type under the "news from around the states" section.  This is great to let the world know about what we do its always fun to read about the club.  We have been mentioned a few times over the years since we began the club.

This past week was a week to get Alumni news and reminders.  Earlier this week The Alumni Newsletter flyer arrived from Linden Hall this week.  It is a fairly different one from the ones in the past.  It had some class notes not as much as in the past (it depends on who sends stuff in. I guess).  It featured the 2015 weekend activities and staff notes as well.  I follow a couple of my classmates from LH on FB and wondered if they got it too and if they are going to this years activities.  Every year this an Alumnae Weekend and some of the classes are having their annual reunions and others get together and stuff.  I don't know if we had a 30th class reunion yet but I am sure they went to the Alumna Weekend anyway.

Endicott College is constantly having alumni gatherings all over the country and they are sponsoring a big trip to Ireland sometime this year.  On their Facebook page they recently had pictures of the snow they got this past week and how it looked on the campus.  I actually can't remember what it looked like.  i don't remember if it snowed much the year I went.

Next week is the 4th District meeting and it will be here.  I have to make sure the house stays fairly clean and neat and start looking for things to have as appetizers.  Of course finish the minutes as well.

Dear Friends

November 17, 2013

Dear Friends:

It is early Sunday Morning,  Sunday Morning Baroque is playing on the computer radio.  The sun isn’t expected to come out at all today and the weather forecast is calling for rain showers tonight.

After helping with dinner dishes I came upstairs and surfed the net.  I did my weekly clearing out of emails including ones for LH and Endicott.  I had forgotten I had gotten quarterly Fund requests and reports.  They are constantly looking for Money and as much as I would like to help them out I can’t but it is fun to see what they do with the money.   For example both LH and Endicott have new buildings for their students and administration  and provide an education with.  I would love to visit both campuses and see for myself the changes.  got so tired last night that I just plopped into bed without saying good night to Mom.

Today should be pretty much the same as yesterday.  Washing laundry  and finish changing over seasonal wardrobes.

Well I am going to get going and get ready…

Check in with you all later.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
