Happy Birthday Dad

Today would have been my Dad’s 95th birthdays.   I always wonder what he would be doing or we would be doing if he hadn’t died early.   Not sure it would have been any better or worse than it was with Mom.   He had some serious health issues back then. Today was my regular Saturday activities. I did the dusting and window washing but decided to do the vacuuming and the bathroom tomorrow before I go to bingo..     Early in the morning I put the stew in the slow cooker and let it cook until 2.   I got about three small containers of it to put in the freezer and had a bowl late in the day.   I didn’t do too much cooking except a brunch (grilled cheese) and a late dinner of beef patties. I am still eating crazily despite the fact I gained weight recently. In the afternoon the association President called to remind me to be careful about pulling into our newly painted parking spots.   As there was evidence that some of our neighbors messed...

I was so pleased with myself.

I was so pleased with myself for getting Tiger to take her meds but this morning and late last night she didn’t take it at all and when I left this morning I gave her some wet food to hide (she eats around it now in the kibble) and I had to prevent Sky from eating it.  It was suggested to me to crush the pills up and put it in her food.  I am going to have to do that.  I am not sure how successful that will be.  I may have to separate them again as well. It was 71 degrees when I left the house and was going to be in the 80’s but not as humid.  Overcast for the day but no rain is expected.  I think the rest of the week will be nice. The office is a little quiet and not the full compliment that I have become accustomed to.  The scanning is light for the daily batches but I can do the refund batches if need be.  I am hoping to have some CDs come in too. I got an email from the Patient access Manager asking me what the images were for one of th...

My hope for today

It is after 8 am and it’s been raining this morning.   A whole lot different than yesterday was it was Sunny and warm.   It wasn’t too humid and that gave me an opportunity to have my breakfast out on the patio. Yesterday I spent too much time doing the house cleaning and watching TV.   I stopped more times than usual.   I don’t like it.   I start to feel guilty that I am taking so long to clean a four room condo. I did get to see the guys at the other end (the former president) and I told him about Tiger.   We talked about a few things going on here (read: Criticizing the current president-again he was and I just listened).   He told me about the pets he had over the years and where they go for the winter (Vermont) I also met another neighbor it was Paulette, she and other members of the board was handing out announcement about the driveway being resealing the parking lot and street this Friday and Monday.   Mine will be done on Frid...

7 Years

Friday was an anniversary or two my family said goodbye to Mom as she succumbed to pancreatic cancer.   She died with us around her and the Nursing staff that Liz got for her so that she would not die in a nursing home or hospital.   It was a very stressful and hard time.   Relationships were strained between siblings; I continued to work while mom was being cared for until the final days.   So called friends would interfere in things they had no right to.   In the days leading up to the funeral some preparations had changed.   Jim had gone home to do some things and returned in time for the funeral service and his family followed.   I remember how annoyed Liz was at his behavior and treatment of her.   It frustrated me because it was unnecessary.   Just as we were saying goodbye to Mom, the world was welcoming a four different short haired kittens.   They were eventually brought to Woodbridge Animal shelter.   Where they...

Tiger is

Giving Tiger her meds has been a little easier now that I got the pill pockets.  EVen though they are still too small I put two together and put the meds in.  Then bury it in the kibble or the canned food and she seems to eat it.    I also stand nearby to make sure Sky does it inadvertently take it. Anyways, up until Tuesday she was walking normally with no limp and not knucling.  On Tuesday her limp was a little more noticeable.  Yet she still slept on the bed or under the end table in the living room.  I had a text  conversation with Sis.  I told her Tiger is doing well with the meds and that she is walking normally..  She seemed pleased and reassured me this was the right way to go and there will be days ahead where it may not be as good. I heard from the vet Monday to check in on Tiger. I relayed the same info to them as I told Sis and they were pleased.  I also filled out a survey for the VCA office.  OF course I ga...

blah end to the week

Thursday was the day I took Tiger to the Neurologist to see what was going on.   The place was beautiful and spacious.   I had to sign a DNR in case they had to do some sort of surgery.   It would have cost money that I don’t have (they totally understood that).   They had a welcome sign for Tiger in the exam room.   They did a neurological exam and found some spinal injury and that it’s possible she has cancer.   They didn’t push the MRI (and admitted it was expensive) and   shared they wouldn’t do any chemo on their pets.   They were not judging me anything.   They reassured me I was a great/good Mom.   Tiger was so well behaved.   She would pop her head out of the carrier.   She did also sit on the floor trying to hide but she great.   When I got home with her I fed her and sky an early dinner and gave her the meds.   I have been trying to give it in her food but I am finding I need to get those pill pocke...

I Have done it again

I have done it again.  I have gone weeks without writing in the blogs.  There is an app (when isn’t there an app?) that I tried to make notes on so I wouldn’t forget anything.  So yeah, did some writing but not where anyone can see it.  So I am going to do a bullet point and semi explanation. *Work has been productive.  Contract negotiations continue.  I missed a couple of committee meetings.  We don’t have to wear masks in the office or outside.  Those in the clinics do (for obvious reasons).    *Home is good.  Finally got the sofa bed and it looks gorgeous.  I also got a beautiful begonia for the stoop outside from David.  Still having a hard time getting pictures up.   *Neighbors are doing well.   *The holidays brought some long overdue family time.  First Nephew Chris and his family came up from South Carolina for visits.  Little Sophie and Aiden were great.  Teenagers Jas...
