Candidates say thank you

Just as I walked through the door tonight Mom got a phone call from Justin R (a fellow Democrat and campaign manager for State Rep Kim Rose) informing her that she was on the front page of the Milford edition of Patch.com. We rushed upstairs and got on the computer and There it was. I have posted a link to my Facebook page (so that others may see it).

WE had creamed turkey over mashed potatoes and broccoli as a side dish. I told Mom I could taste salt in it and she insisted there wasn’t any salt on the turkey but it was in the potatoes. It was the second of two dismissals and I was annoyed. My response was “ok”.

The rest of the day went okay. I got approval (sort of) from JudyF to go in early to work on the re-address mail. The daily stuff was mostly done (will have to get the lobby mail tomorrow). I told JanetN so that she would not feel slighted or whatever and it turns out she also has permission to come in early as well. I am getting her some coffee too.

OT went well. I did about 19 batches and it came out to 345 pages. LaVonT was helping out scanning and JanetN stayed for an hour. Yeah it’s still not that impressive huh? I didn’t think so either. I am sure the ladies will probably say I can only do what I can and every little bit helps. I think some times even they have problems with the counts too.

I emailed Jamie today and asked when his confirmation is and this evening he wrote back telling me it is on March 4, 2013. I am so relieved. I didn’t want it to be the same time as the trip. I told him I was planning on going to Italy (tentatively) in April.

Aw I just looked at my online calendars and they really need to be updated. I will be doing that tonight. I am going to bed by 10 though.

Hope you all had a great afternoon and evening!

Cruise Around the Hudson Harbor

We left the house about 8:30. It was a bit strained because Mom and I had a fight over stupid stuff last night. Anyway we got the 9 am train to NY. The ride itself was quiet and quick. Mom slept while I watched the scenery pass by.

It was 10:30 when we arrived in NY. We made stops at the Market place for extra bread and to the Information booth for directions to the pier. After we did a bathroom run and keeping an eye on some woman’s bags while she did a bathroom run we headed out to the bus with our handy coin in hand. Three buses we needed drove by us. That was because we were not at the exact spot to be picked up. WE finally got a cab. That cost $11 including a tip.

When we arrived we emptied out the cab and we headed to the ticket booth. I heard Jim calling out to us and so we gave him our stuff and we went to the booth. We went to the boat. It turned out to be the wrong boat. We wanted the 12:30 –three hour tour and we got the 12 pm –two hour tour.

So for the next two hours we talked and watched the scenery pass us by while the tour guide pointed out the Bridges, The USS Intrepid , the different Piers in which was the location shoots for a variety of TV and movie. He pointed out where Ground Zero was and just important trivia of the time. He pointed out Liberty and Ellis Islands.

Around 1 or 1:30 we had lunch. The girls after awhile went back to the bow and Jamie joined them while Mom and Jim talked about a variety of things. Some I was privy too and some I wasn’t. I did have a chance to talk to Jim about the email incident with Emily and he appreciated that I was letting it go.

When the cruise was over we said Goodbye to Jim and the kids. They headed to their car and we headed to the ticket booth to get some of the money back because of the mix up on our part. We then headed to the bus. The heat was oppressive. We got back to the Train Station by 2:30 and on the 2:34 train bound for home.

It was after 4 when we got off the train. Both Mom and I were glad we got home when we did. We got to the house by 4:30 and went about our own thing. I put the towels in the dryer and went and took a nap for an hour and half. Mom was watching TV and neither of us were hungry.

The rest of the time we had a late light dinner and watched TV. Jim called a while ago to see how we did but Mom says they kept getting cut off. Before I go to sleep I am sending them an email.

Now that it is after 9:30 I best get to bed. I am getting tired again.

I was shocked when I

Found out that Paul’s Hamburger Stand on Boston Post Road was permanently closed on Wednesday. The reason they are giving is they lost their lease but could it be more? It’s been in the same spot for 62 years. In the last 46 years (that I know of) I have only been there twice in my entire life. The people I mentioned this news to were shocked and dismayed. They would tell me stories as to how many times they have gone to that place over the years. I have cousins who worked there.

I made it to the funeral home and wake for Phil’s Dad with no problem. I stayed for quite some time after some others I knew from the DTC came and paid their respects. Phil’s family is nice. I got home by 6.

No mail except junk for the AARP insurance advertisements. I spent the night doing very little. Mostly on line stuff. I was checking emails.

Today work went well considering it was my first week back after the two week vacation. The charts came and went without any problems. I even got to visit with Mike from Gofor services. He looked great.

The Patient Services staff had a luncheon to welcome Lisa Davis to the staff. Sue Carrozza extended the invitation to me as well and I accepted. It was pretty good. I had chicken wings, rice and beans, and pasta salad and éclairs, and cookies and of course soda.

It was just before 4:30 when I got home and Mom was ironing and hanging the curtains. She didn’t want to have dinner until she got the curtains up so I watched TV and helped out a little. It was nothing big moved a ladder here or there. I decided to take a bath and then start some laundry.

I also took an opportunity close out a pen pal file after receiving a letter I had sent out last week back with insufficient address. I really wish people who do that would check before sending stuff out. I moved the info sheet of this person to my journal file.

We had dinner around quarter of 7. It was spaghetti and sauce and as usual delicious. We were also trying to understand the discussions about the current financial crisis that is hitting this country.

Some of the stuff I was tossing out was from November 2005. Actually it was mostly political stuff and I made the notations in that file. I also had some medical reports from when I was diagnosed with the lupus. I am putting it with some files Mom has been holding for me.

There was a holiday card and newsletter from my friend Marie Pooley from London. I first met her many years ago on the yahoo groups and message boards that focus on Kevin Sorbo. Ever since then she sends me these great letters.

In the December 2005 folder I had letters I had sent to Debra, my appointment book for that year, Holiday cards, the Program from the Benefit Concert for Beth El Shelter.

Now I am working on the basket... There was a letter I had written to Debra in June of 2007. I told her about some activities or incidents having to do with pen paling. One of them was how I was almost scammed. This woman who wanted to be “pals” who was in some sort of “prison camp in South Africa had written me and then started with the “can you hold money for me” I told her not to contact me after this.

I also tossed copies of some letters I had written to various friends within the Kevin Sorbo Fandom.

I told mom I would try and get rid of papers for the next two hours and do even pen pal stuff later but I came across letters that I needed to answer.

I can at least write them up and print them later.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
