Just Popping in to Say Hi

Hey everyone!  Just had a few moments to pop in and say Hi.  Things are going well.  As you recall I was on vacation the last we spoke and I had a great time.  Caught up with things at home, had doctors appointments, and meetups.  THose were usually at night.  I also got to rest too.

I think the blood pressure is better.  THe latest appointments indicated that.  Next week I have follow ups with Cardiology, Nephrology and of course the Oncologist (blood doctor).

My car is almost finished being repaired and I suspect that I will have it back by next Tuesday.  I was given an Audi for the interim and it's beautiful but the bells and whistles are getting on my nerves.

This week Liz and Nelson will be moving into the condo. As early as tomorrow.  The rest of the furniture and movers are arriving tomorrow.  They have been spending the last several days doing odds and ends.  When the new furniture arrived Liz showed it to me and it's beautiful.

We talked about a number of things including whether or not I said anything to big brother.  My first reaction was; ITs her job not mine but by the end of the visit she basically said I could.  So I did.  THey were pleased but I am not telling her that.

We have a baptism for Lina Di next weekend.  It will be the first time I am meeting her since her birth.  I think we are  going separately because Liz and Nelson get over tired so they can leave on their own.

I have been invited to Allentown for thanksgiving again.  I will probably go down that Wednesday.  After my infusion.  I always enjoy going down there.

The rest of the family is fine.

THe Ladies Guild is going pretty well.  We have a general meeting tonight and an auction near the end of the month.  TIckets are pretty steep for me but I do want to go.

As I mentioned, I've been doing a lot with meetups.  We had a Movie night about two weeks ago and it was fun.  IT was the House with the clock in the wall with Jack Black.  We had pizza and stuff.  THen we had our weekly beach nights but those are coming to an end sooner then we had hoped.  THe park closes at sunset and it's about 6:30.  We then head to the diner.

Steph had to cancel the Wild Life auction she had planned for November.  THAt’s Okay.  Something tells me the woman she is doing this for is becoming difficult again.  On top of that Steph is just getting back to work after surgery on her knee.

We have a Cookie swap at Faith and Jerry’s home in December.  I definitely need to do that.  I also will have to cancel bingo for that day.

I know that the other two Meetup groups have a bunch of things but they always seem to be on days I have something else to do.  I am afraid they may just remove me if I don’t participate soon.

One of my old neighborhood neighbors is having a halloween party/open house in her new home this weekend and I am looking forward to that.  I am not dressing up though.

The Dolan Clan celebrated their youngest daughter’s wedding and I am so happy for them.

Sky is doing good.  He is healthy.  I have been giving him treats (basically to call him out of the spare room when I need to close it off).  He has been sitting behind the bookcase in the spare room as well as sitting on a pillow on the couch.

So it begins

Well I believe Sky and Tiger-Lilly (thanks to Liz) are becoming comfortable in their new surroundings.  When I got home last night I found several papers, and address book, and cards that I had on the dresser on the floor.  This morning I found the Hurricane Lamp from out back on the floor.  The bulb and the Glass lampshade is broken.  Its all cleaned up and I checked Sky and he is fine.  Couldn’t find Tiger-Lily but I will try later.

Good news Sky kissed my finger twice!  Twirls..He also let me hold him a little longer than he has since I got him home.  I wish TL would but she goes into hiding and i tried to look for her and then I give her space.  I will check on them when I stop home this evening.

At least I know either one or both of them is eating the kibble.  it was much lower than a day or two.  I don’t fill it every night because its already full. Let’s hope they eat the wet crap (although I don’t blame them if they don’t).

As I expected Preston growled from his bed for about 10 minutes when I got there. i talked to both of them.  I took Preston out but he only peed he didn’t want to walk (which is okay) but Packy didn’t even want to go outside-at all.  I couldn’t wait ten minutes for him either.  As it was I was late for work.

When i left the boys I headed to D&D on Route 1.  Big Mistake!  Long line. Anyway I got two large coffee’s one I gave to LAS when I got here (I was late too) since then I feel as though i haven’t gotten a lot done.  The post office was closed for some reason so there wasn’t mail from that venue.

I have heard from Nancy a few times already via text and I have heard from Nutmeg Clinic and the kids have an appointment on January 5 and will be there overnight.  It will cost about $40 down payment and with the vouchers it should be taken care of.

Christmas shopping is down (cards are not and for those who have not gotten them yet still send them out up until January 31, 2014.  When I spoke to Liz this morning she was getting a last minute gift.  We talked about Christmas, the kids, the kitties, and she sounds very excited I think.

Well I have a few more things to do before going home so I better get to them.

Today was our Christmas Party

The Christmas Holiday Committee went all out this year and sent invitations back in November for the luncheon that was held in three different areas for availability.  They even had tables so that we could sit and mingle and eat.  The menu included ziti, chicken, eggplant rollatini,  potatoes, salad, and dessert.  We all received lovely coffee cups with the University Logo on it

Liz called me and told me there were two sets of kittens from different litters that there are 3 months old and 5 months old I think she told me they were tabbies.  Anyway we will see them tomorrow.  After work tonight I went to Petco and got “supplies” that included a scratching post, 1 set of dishes, two litter boxes and scoopers. and a cat carrier.  oh and I forgot to mention the 25 lbs of kitty litter.  It was too heavy to bring in. and will tomorrow.

Since I have been home I put the boxes in the rooms I want them to be and straightened up a few places and closed off some of the rooms.  Now this is going to sound a little out there but I swear I heard a cat meowing.  I called Liz and I Think she thinks I have lost it..  Maybe I just imagined it.

Tomorrow I am going to get an early start on stuff.  Make sure things are still in place in case I do bring the kittens home.  There also may be a good chance I won’t bring them home too.

Right now though I am so tired and achy I need to go to bed.

Dear Friends

September 20, 2013

Dear Friends

It is Friday night and its quiet time.  The pups are on their assigned pillows/chairs in the bedroom.  I have been updating my Google Documents Ledger and surfing the net.  I have been here since 5.  I spent a short time with Grandma and Papa.  The pups came to me and of course preston sat on my lap and began to lick my face.  AFter the visit I came up here and settled in.

AFter a while I fed them a treat and their dinner and then I walked them.  I took a look around and noticed a few things.  The two mice who had been upstairs are now in the computer room/office.  Its much easier than going up the stairs all the time.  I think it would be much easier to watch TV in the bedroom as I am not sure if the Preston is allowed on the sofa in the living room..  It would seem Nancy has been training him to sleep on the pillow on a chair in the bedroom instead of on their bed.

Work went really well today.  The mail volume was exceedingly light and that allowed me to work on the readdress mail for most of the day again.  I didn’t get as many done as yesterday and that may be a relief for the couriers.  My Friend Jim whom I haven’t seen in quite a while was shocked at the amount he picked up this morning.

As you may recall I mentioned that the 4th District Committee was meeting yesterday and it was decided that it would stay at our house.  We had nine members in attendance.  The meeting was until about 9 and when it was finished a small group of us stuffed Absentee Ballot applications in envelopes.  I cleaned up the kitchen from the refreshments during the meeting.  I did manage to get last months minutes written for the meeting but had to revise them this morning and sent them off to the chairman..  I will be working on this months during the weekend sometime.

I have offered my services to candidates who need to be driven for the door knocking this weekend..  MVB sent out an email and I replied.  I hope he got it before taking off for his business trip.  I even sent it out to the person making the request.  I will have to check my emails as soon as I am done here.

I finally sent an email to James before taking off for work this morning.  I don’t know if he got it or will respond but I hope he does.  I am going to try and write him every chance I get.  I know that Jim does it but that’s because they are father and son.  I hope to get some emails or texts off to the girls too..

I talked with Sis today.  She is making final preparations for her class reunion tomorrow for Laurelton Hall.  I think she is pretty excited and one of the things she was trying to learn or remember to do is use the skype application so that her classmate from the south can join in.  Unfortunately Nel has bronchitis.  He has some Knight’s of Columbus event on Sunday.

I have checked in with Miss Junior and she is fine.  Well I accidently stepped on her tail as I was attempting to pet her but she recovered once I got her in my arms and paid close attention to her.  I have to see her in the morning before I go to the Grocery store for the bracelet sale..

Well it is time for me to take them on one final walk for the night.  I will see you in the morning.  I hope you are all well.

Not Feeling Well

I guess it started last night but I had the beginnings of a headache and it seemed to be with me this morning.  I took some tylenol and it went away for awhile.  I feel like it is coming back as I write this..  I think it is because of the chocolate I had yesterday.  I was afraid  it would turn into a migraine but it didn’t.  I was able to have some food and it didn’t bother me until I started lying down.   I can’t tell if it is sinus pressure or not.

I was able to run some errands today.  I went to the bank, and then got some cards ($30 worth).  MOm nearly had a coronary but she is okay with it now.  I just have to get them written out.    I have several for the graduates in my life.  Several for Mother’s Day but some of them will get it late.

I had the opportunity to go and get my glasses fixed (they have been bent out of shape giving me the look of lopsided and driving everyone who looks at me crazy.  Unfortunately the optical store was closed by 11:30.  I got there mid afternoon.  SIgh.  Timing isn’t one of my strong suits lately.

Mom did some number crunching for me today.  She gave me what she spends (or better put we spend) for the house so that I have some idea of what to expect in the future.  I have yet to look it over but I will.  She also did some of her stuff and some shopping she went to the 4:30 mass and we had dinner way after she got home.

I went to check on Junior and she seemed happy to see me.  I gave her some fresh crunchy food because it looked like she hadn’t finished the canned stuff.  I also found some cookies and pop tarts...They do love me.

Oh and did I mention it was raining?  Yep it started around 3:30 or 4 and hasn’t really stopped.  Have I also mentioned I love rainy Saturday nights?

Had a Scary Moment

I had just gotten home from feeding Junior.  It was just about 5 and I was getting dinner ready when the door bell rang.  It was the owner of the garage we take the cars to be serviced.  He explained to me that Mom’s breaks had given out while she was driving.  All of a sudden I see Mom coming down the stairs.   Not once did I think she was upstairs.  I took the opportunity to tell him that my car needs to be serviced.

Anyway, when he left we had an opportunity to talk.  I had received a package of Silkies stockings.  I didn’t order them and I am royally pissed.  Now I have to go through the rig morrow of calling the company and canceling my membership with them.

She also asked if I remembered Jim’s birthday.  She shamed me into calling him and so I talked with him.  He didn’t care that I didn’t get him anything (at least that’s why I am sticking with).

I was debating whether or not to do laundry tonight and I was really close to saying “not” but I see the blouse I had on today now has a spot.  I still have time before bed time to get it washed.

AC brought her Mom in for a brief visit today.  You could see they were related.  They looked a like and she walked straight and militaristic.  They didn’t stay long.

Yay….West River got their Phones working!!! J  I left a message on Natalie’s office.

Okay I need to get going.  The daytime cold medicine is starting to wear off and I need to do the laundry before I take the night time stuff.

Early Morning

I was up before 8 and sending out emails from Chairman Phil.  I didn’t quite understand one of his emails but I sent what I could out.  I was over Roberta and Mikes by 8:15 feeding Junior and spending a little time with her.

When I got back to the house and told Mom that I have been trying to contact the nursing home she suggested I go there.  I was hesitant at first but after I did it was a good idea.  They have no phone but they just got their computers back online.

I heard from Cousins Jane and Lee C in Matawan.  Jane spent a few days with her Brother Don in Brattleboro and Lee says they have a generator but no full power right now.

Mom left to do the canvassing around 11.   I am not going to because I don’t feel well.    She seemed to be okay with it.  She came back an hour later because they didn’t want her coughing.  I am expecting some emails telling me I shouldn’t have let her go.  You try telling an 85 year old woman what she can or can’t do.

I am trying to read other blogs and most of the ones I read about projects they are working on or herbs and I think witchcraft. I read some others that were from Alaska.  Some I may follow as the type to write when the time comes.

I haven’t really done much in between. I have been watching TV, hung some clothes that needed hanging.  I might take a nap.  I have a few hours before I go check on kitty.

Goodbye Surra

I met Surra 16 years ago at my Sister Liz’s house when Liz lived on prospect Street here in Milford. Surra was a kitten and along with her Sister Kitara belonged to my nephews Rich and Christian. As the boys grew to men and moved out on their own the cats become the owners to Liz and Nelson. Surra’s Sister died last year in Liz’s arms. Surra found the same comfort in Liz’s arms last night as her battle with cancer ended. Surra would always be very affable and would want you to pay attention to her. She will be missed. I know I will miss her.

When I emailed Liz last night to ask her about taking the AC out of the window for me I didn’t realize she had sent the email w/pictures of Surra. The pictures can be found at www.MYspace.com/katep06460 under pictures

I finally worked on my outlook express and it is currently filling up again. I think it will be for ever before it stops. I have been trying to empty it and move emails around.

I couldn’t sleep so I went to have warm milk. I don’t think adding ice cream helped one bit. I was still awake at quarter of 3. I tried everything including taking night time cold medicine. Nothing helped.

I don’t know what time it was when I fell asleep but it wasn’t long before I heard the alarms go off. I turned them off and turned over and overslept! It was quarter of 7 when I got up and rushed around and left by 7:20.

I stopped at the gas station got some gas and headed to Roberta’s house. I got the cat fed and I think I got a few minutes with pups. After that I headed to the highway.

It was after 8 when I arrived the morning gifts were there. I got to work on them and called Donna to pick them up. I had to reorder the charts I ordered a week ago for tomorrow. I am hoping they will be pulled for tomorrow.

I found out today that PJK a dear friend of mine for the last 18 years became a grandmother. Her Daughter Pia had a baby. A baby what you ask? I forgot to ask her. I will have to send PJK a card soon.

On a more disheartening note Liz R was told as of the end of the year she will not be needed. She found out last night and this morning she found out why. Budgetary reasons were given for the layoff. Gayle got into it with Sue over it and lost.

I managed to get most everything done. I still have more readdress mail to do but again I will be able to get it done tomorrow. I was feeling very comfortable when I left even though I was kind of worried about Gayle being in a sour mood. I was afraid I may have done things wrong. I was much better about staying off the net and getting the work done (even though it did take me all day).

After work I managed to get to Kitty before dark and see the pups too. Everyone was fine and fed. I was home by quarter of 5.

Mom was upstairs when I arrived. She was doing some paper work and I wanted to relax Dinner was almost done. I watched TV and opened my mail. I got a letter from a pal and my insurance bill.

The rest of the night I watched TV and played with my outlook express and talked with Telka and made calls.

Now I am going to bed.

I think I am getting a sore throat

Hey all, it is me heading to bed. I think I am getting a sore throat. Throat has been hurting for a couple of hours now and I took the night time cold medicine and I suspect I will be getting tired soon.

I slept late this morning so I found myself rushing around getting ready for the day. As soon as I could I went to feed Junior. When I finished and was about to leave the pups were out waiting for me but I had no treats (or so I thought). I gave them some hugs and kiss and drove away.

Traffic was a bit heavy but it was also just after 7:30. I managed to get to work before 8 and hung out for a bit. I told a lot of people about the weekend and the holiday.

Today was hectic after the holiday and semi long weekend. There were no charts delivered because no one worked at the Medical records department. So that means today’s charts will be send along with the ones I ordered from today. This time I left the list from Wednesday and put today’s on with it. I found stuff to do (including going online) while I was waiting for the lockbox. I worked some EOB pulling as well.

I will have to finish the lockbox tomorrow. Everything else is done. I am not sure why it took so long but it did. I plan on getting to work early so I can jump start it so that the next bunch won’t be delayed.

A discussion about grouply showed up on the lists again. Most if not all of the owners are now making it mandatory for those who join with the grouply address to rejoin using another one or be banned. I had to send Tracy S in WI an email asking her to not use the grouply address she has. I haven’t heard from her but it is here. I also made it a requirement on my groups that I own and moderate.

After work I went to Debra and had our session. We talked about the weekend and how it went. Mom had asked me what Debra thought of the situation and I told her she was more concerned on how I handled it. I think I am going to write her and tell her what Mom asked me and see if I was off the mark.

After my session with Debra I headed back to Junior. It had been raining and traffic was terrible. I got to the house after 4:30. I came inside and was about to start feeding her until I saw one of the pups at the door. I let her in and she ate the leftover food for the cat. I called Roberta to find out where the dog treats were. I found them after I hung up. I gave Missy some and fed the cat. The cat waited until the dog left.

I gave equal treats to both Missy and Charlie. I rubbed Charlie’s back and then I went home and found the downstairs in total darkness. Mom was working upstairs and it was nearly 6. A short time later she started dinner.

For the next hour Roberta and I played Telephone Tag. We were not connecting on the phone very well but in the messages she told me where to find the treats (done that) and she said that wehre she and Mike were it was snowing. We finally got to talk with each other and talked aobut the weather.

I have also been trying to write some letters but I just can’t seem to do it tonight. I have been moving emails around and stuff like that. Now I am just going to bed.

It Snowed Today!

Mom and I got up around 7 and started our day. She got her meds and paper and I got online and stripped the beds in the blue room. Then about ten of 8 I was in the bathroom on the throne and looked out the window to see the white flakes. I ran downstairs and told Mom to look out the window and she said where? Just look! She couldn’t believe her eyes! The snow then turned to rain then sleet and then back to snow and for the rest of the day rain.

It was after 9 when I left to go feed Junior. She welcomed me at the door and then ran to the middle of the room and rolled over so I could rub her belly. After that I got her breakfast and gave her fresh water. I was finished with her 10 minutes later and on my way to Dunkin donuts.

After picking up a Pumpkin Spice coffee I headed down to the nursing home. By this time it was slushy and turning back to rain. Virgie was getting things together and so I chatted with them and then started serving coffee. A short time later Andrea and Marisa arrived and they started getting the residents. I continued to serve coffee.

We started the games around 10 after 10 and all three of us noticed through out the games the residents were cranky. They were demanding and at times belligerent. We were anxious for the hour to pass so we could get out of there and to church and to our homes.

I arrived to the church on time. This was a first in a while. I sat in the second row in what is supposedly the crying room. Andrea and Marisa joined me a few moments later. Today is the first Sunday of Advent so the advent Wreath was lit and the blessing after the homily was done. It seemed like the mass was long but the room was cold. After Mass we said goodbye to each other and headed home.

Mom was home when I arrived and was starting to prepare the soup. I decided to do laundry and Mom folded the sheets I started earlier in the morning. After a while we decided we would go shopping.

We needed a few things at the grocery store and Mom said she wanted to get more sheets for me. So around 2 we went to Macy’s first and spent an hour shopping. We even picked up utensils Mom has been interested in getting. After that was done we headed to Costco. We picked up the things we needed and headed home. It was nearly 4.

It was after 4 when Claudia called. Mom wanted to know how the trip home was and to talk about next week. The idea that the kids would come to Milford with us that night was nixed. It would be too late and mostly too much for us. They will come another weekend.

While Mom talked with Claudia I went over to feed Junior and try out the new U-Verse Cable system. They have more channels and at different allocations. I fed the kitty had some snacks and watched Bonanza. I even played with the kitty and then came home.

We had leftovers (I mean what else we would have?) for dinner. We watched Great Performances on PBS and then after that folded the sheets and watched TV and started to make the bed with the sheets we bought at Macy’s.

I took my time making the bed. I was also watching the original Star Wars trilogy. As I write this The Return of the Jedi is on. It is the revamped one where they have the image of young Anakin (before he turns to Vader) at the end of the movie.

I have some things to do before going to bed. I would like to write some letters and move some emails around. I will see you tomorrow. Be well!

Plans changed

I got up around 7. Spent time online and then got ready to feed Junior and see the pups next door. The weather was so different then last night. It was much cooler and of course brighter. Mom was reading the paper when I came down. She saved the obituary for Mr. Oliver.

I left shortly after 8 to feed kitty and have some cookies. Apparently I left them out and some of them were stale. I made sure I put them away before I left. At least I think I did. After cleaning out the litter box and feeding the kitty I had a visit from missy who was waiting at the door for me. I could hear Junior meowing. I looked and there she was. I spent time with the dogs and then headed out to Mediplex.

Since it was really very early for me to go to Mediplex I stopped at the Dunkin Doughnuts and got some hot chocolate and a doughnut. I drove to Mediplex and turned on the lights and started getting stuff out. Then Mr. Merly told me there was no bingo. I looked at the calendar and he was right. This was a little annoying but I hung out and watch TV until Natalie came. It was decided I would help get the residents down. I sat and watched TV with the residents and gave them coffee. I also talked with Phil in the kitchen. After the residents were brought down I left. I asked if I needed to hang around. I really needed to get back here. I explained my plans and then took off.

I dropped off the envelopes to Telka’s house came home and read the paper a little bit. Around 11:30 I went to Mass at St Agnes. There was a lot of activity on the church grounds. They were setting up for their annual End of Summer picnic.

When I got home from church Mom was upstairs in her office and starting to clean out stuff. She reminded me to continue to do mine. It was annoying and a little frustrating.

I did manage to get rid of some papers and deleted a bunch of documents. From the different files I have. I didn’t go into great detail with them. I can’t do that with the political ones or the schools or the GFWC.

Liz sent an invitation to the End of Summer party that’s being held at their house on the 20th. I will be making some cakes and stuff like that. I get the feeling that they are trying to catch me in a lie as though I didn’t really bake the cake the first time and how good it was. IF that’s the case I will tell them off.

Well Mom just got some good news. Our friend Mary is out of the Nursing home and back home to recuperate. She came home Friday and has a visiting nurse that comes in and someone to cook and look after her.

Well it is getting late and I am tired. My arm is starting to ache so I am going to take some stuff for it.

September 5, 2008

I got up around 6:30 and watched TV until 9 Mom started to bug me about the cleaning. I also was talking to my pal Janet about some pen pal stuff. When Mom found out she got really upset. It really annoyed me because she has these ideas on what pen paling is or isn’t. I told her I wouldn’t be giving out my number and quite frankly she does have a point. She basically feels I shouldn’t be calling people I will never lay eyes on.

I had my appointment with Debra today. I was a little bit late because of traffic of course but I also left the house late too. I told her of the events in the last few days and about my birthday after the session I went to the bank to get money because I parked in the parking garage (and that was outrageous too).

The ride home was uneventful. When I got home the yard had been mowed and the thing is it was just done before my birthday. Mom is a little anxious about that. She also did some shopping while I was out.

The rest of the afternoon I was cleaning and watching some TV and answering emails. It was about five when I went to feed Junior but she was no where to be found. I hope she will be there in the AM.

When I came home I relaxed a bit and then we had dinner. Mom grilled steak for steak sandwiches and had home made eggplant recipe from the paper yesterday. It was pretty good.

After dinner I started back with the cleaning and emptied out some stuff and checked emails. I talked with Aunt Betty. She is doing well but she thought she was talking to my cousin Kathleen.

It was about 7 when I got a call from Dave. His father was found dead this morning. He died in his sleep. Dave was in Florida on one of his trips and came back tonight. (He was working). His sisters got some call from neighbors and the youngest one went and checked in on him and found him dead...

Now that I have finished the closet I am tired and going to bed. See you all in the morning.

Didn't get much done today

I was so bad today. I spent a lot of time online and writing a letter to Debra. I have to finish the lockbox on Monday. Next week is going to be a short week and i would think some pressure on me to get a lot done.

JUnior and the pups are doing just fine. The pups were waiting for me when I arrived at the house. I let Missy come in and immediately Junior stood on the stairs to the cellar as she has in the last three days that Missy came in. Missy dutifily waited outside while I fed the cat. I gave the pups their treats making sure they were not full. i get the feeling that Charlie is getting turned off by them.

When I got home Mom was starting dinner. Whiele she was cooking I watched Charmed and reading my letter from Bambi in ME. She sent me some lovely pictures but as is the norm she sent me a one page letter.

Tomorrow one of the girls from the Juniors is coming by to show me her dog. I have no idea why but that's okay. I have a lot to do tomorrow. I need to finish letters, do laundry, and get the room cleaned.

Didn't get a lot of sleep last night

I am so tired! I didn’t sleep very well last night. I know it’s because of the coffee, diet soda, and the decaffeinated tea. This morning I got some coffee and this afternoon I had some decaffeinated coffee. I have also been eating little pieces of candy to keep myself from becoming ravenous (it just isn’t working).

My hunger pains left mid afternoon. I know that I will be scoffing up the cookies when I get to Roberta’s later on. I will probably ruin my idnner. Although I am thinking the spaghetti will do fine. Mom won’t want to eat when she gets home either.

The rest of the day went by with out incident. I did not get to finish all of the readdress/personal mail but I can do that tomorrow.

Well it is after 10 and I was in bed trying to sleep but couldn’t. My session with Debra went pretty well. She had gotten both pieces of mail that I sent her. I read the letter and parts of the journal entries from earlier this month. She asked me what I ended up doing about the situation and I told her I just don’t interact with that person. Then we talked about forgiveness. She made the observation that I am always one to forgive quickly no matter how angry I get or expect others to own up. I told her it’s because I believe that we all need to take responsibility for our parts in any thing. When the session was over we said we would meet next week. Unfortunately I just took a look at my calendar and I see Dr. Martin next week at 4:20. I have to call her or write her a note.

After the session I headed back to the car and headed to Roberta’s house. The cat was a bit more receptive then yesterday and so I fed her and had some cookies. I called Mom while I was there too. She said she wasn’t feeling well so she wouldn’t be eating with me.

Mom was heating up the soup when I got home. I looked at the mail and there was an invitation from Telka and her family to join them for a graduation party for Telka. It will be on the 19th or 20th. It will be a pool party. I will need to respond to that tomorrow.

I also got an email invitation to a reception for State Representative Paul Davis. It is going to be at Mike and Tessa’s on July 1st. I need to respond to that one as well.

My legs (and wrist) were hurting tonight. I couldn’t even type for long either. I did take some ibuprofen and Tylenol and it stopped for a while. The pain started coming back before going to bed.

I had a nice online chat with my pen pal Lisa from Kansas. I owe her a long letter. I told her I would write her before long.

When Mom went to bed I watched TV and had some cereal. Now I am going back to bed.

January 21, 2008

I cant’ believe it. Monday night has arrived. Where did the time go? Yesterday was a lovely and enjoyable day. It was cold too. I fed the cat. Then I went to bingo. Bingo went well. I had twenty one players. Sam got a little feisty and said shut up and I just walked up to him and in his good ear said we are not using that word again.

After bingo I went to church. I was late so I slipped into the crying room next to the altar. I left right after communion. I went to the post office after that and then came home. Mom was already home.

Over the next few hours I did some laundry, worked on the pen pal files. However, I didn’t do what I was supposed to do. I haven’t done any writing in the journals I was supposed to be mailing out today. I am really upset. I have been procrastinating about it for the last two days.

I got a call late in the day from Dave. He had to make himself scarce so that Patrick could entertain a guest. So we were going to run some errands and then go to dinner.

He picked me up around 4:30 or so and we then headed to Mike and Roberta’s to feed Junior. After that we went to the post office and then to Barnes and Noble. I called Mom to let her know Dave and I were going to dinner later. She reminded me of my diet. Dave asked me if I was on a diet. I said to her “what diet?”

Anyway, we spent like two hours at Barnes and Noble. We had coffee and looked at books and by 6 I was starting to get hungry. Dave kept on going. We decided to go to the new restaurant the Bear & Grill Restaurant.

The Restaurant was huge. It had a large backroom with booths and tables. The murals and the walls were done in log cabin and picturesque scenery. The bar was in front and had one of the two most important football games of the 2007-2008 seasons.

We started off with bread and biscuits. I had tea and Dave had wine. We had salads with dressing and I had honey and apple baby back ribs with cole slaw and French fries. I didn’t have dessert. I couldn’t I was too full. While we ate we continued to talk about the holidays, Dave’s plan for the future would be. It was 9 when we left. We were home a short time later. We made plans to have dinner at “Patrick’s House” next weekend. Dave said he would give me his gift then. I gave him the gift card that’s been sitting here for the longest time.

When I got home I didn’t do very much. I watched some TV and did some pen pals stuff. I am still moving address books around. I have been updating my outlook express address book and it is taking time.

Today was fairly quiet as well. I fed the cat a couple of times did some laundry and continued to do some pen pal stuff. Again not everything because I still have three journals to be writing in and mailing out tomorrow. It just isn’t going to happen.

Well I can try a marathon writing session but I am now getting tired. I can’t sign up for these types of things in the future it’s just not right. It isn’t fair to the other people.

Tomorrow I work and feed kitty. I have to get my finances all together for Thursday’s meeting with TIAA Cref. It really shouldn’t take that long.

It is getting late now. I have been watching TV in between writing this because the computer seems slow tonight.

Oh I got an email from Missy Anderson from Linden Hall this weekend. It was to promote Alumnae Weekend coming up in the spring. I am supposed to be the class rep (the one who reminds the others in our graduating class about news and events such as fundraisers etc). I haven’t written anyone in months.

Endicott College is having their annual alumni fundraising phone-a-thon. I got a call from one of the students tonight asking for donations. The guy tried really hard to get me to pledge some donation but I kept saying I would love to but.

I attended Endicott right after I graduated from Linden Hall. Back then it was a 2 year woman’s college. I wanted to go into Early Childhood Education. I was not the best student and unfortunately switched majors by the end of the year. I went into communications something I enjoyed but still didn’t do well in. I made some friends but had a falling out with them during the semester then it was better. I had to make some changes because I wasn’t being the best. By the end of the year I was going to move to another dorm (the one I was in was not the greatest) by the end of the summer it was clear I wasn’t going back to Endicott.

Twelve years after I left Endicott College it became a coeducational school. The History is really very interesting. I have had some interesting things happen there. It was cool that two of my classmates from Linden Hall also attended the school.

Now I am going to go to sleep. I am a little achy tonight.

A cold January

It is after 11:30 on this cold January Saturday. Mom is in bed reading the newspaper from today. I have been watching TV. I have to say I just can’t get into this season’s L&O. It just doesn’t feel right.

I am getting tired again and I should go to bed. I just have more things to do for my address book for outlook and I should be writing in my journals for the swap. I just haven’t done that.

Things with Mom are settling down after an argument I had with her Thursday. I think it was Thursday. It was over Personal Hygiene. She was being incredibly rude about it I am not stupid I know hygiene is important but she was going beyond trying to prove a point.

The argument got very intense. I was about to throw in the towel and tell her do what ever she wanted to do with the house. Anyway the next morning I apologized to her and she said the apology was accepted (but she clearly had a tone and attitude about it). When I talked to her about it later on in the day she said she was still upset but that she would get over it. I surmised that her “apology accepted” was a bunch of crap. I think I asked her something like…”so the apology accepted wasn’t really accepted?” When I got back to my room I told her she had until tonight to “get over it”. I will not be subjected to her rudeness or to her head games. Thankfully it has gotten better though.

We had no heat last night. We also didn’t have it for most of today either. It was the furnace and the new gauge on the tank again. Matthew said he would be here first thing this morning. He and his father came around 3. Mom was very disappointed. Actually I was highly annoyed. We had to spend most of the day extremely cold. Anyway they got it going and so now the house is semi normal again.

When I wasn’t shivering and trying to keep warm I managed to get some bills paid. I have to still send out two more. I mailed most of them this morning.

I did get to see kitty and she is fine. I cleaned up the kitty litter and hopefully I didn’t break the vacuums.

Well its time for me to say good night.

Thanksgiving 2007

Good Morning! I am up before the sun this morning. I woke up out of a sound sleep from a dream that I can’t remember. I decided to get online and found that I had a couple of emails I didn’t reply to. They were from Tessa. I was supposed to send out a reminder last week for the 4th District meeting next week. I got it out this morning.

I decided to get some laundry started. I figured we are not eating until 3 this afternoon I can do some cleaning around here until Jim comes. That’s if he does come. I can’t remember if Mom said Jim went to Gettysburg with Liz and Nelson or not. I guess it will be one of those “wait and see” moments.

If at all possible I am hoping to get my Christmas stuff going. At least the Christmas cards started. I am going to give my immediate family the cards and then everyone else e-cards.

Well I finally got some more sleep and some really weird dreams. A cylon (the robot on the original Battlestar Galactica) and Chewbacca were there and then we were in someone’s home. I saw some relatives or people I thought were relatives. It is getting fuzzy now.

I got up around 7 and got dressed and saw Sylvia and Boppie going for their morning ritual. We chatted about stuff for a bit. I told her about the incident a week ago (Mom asking Liz to see if Jim was drinking and how I objected). After that I brought in the paper got my coat and took off to feed the cat.

While I was at the house I had to clean up the cat box. She had made a mess and so I moved the box and it was precariously on the hearth and it was knocked over completely. So I spent about 20 minutes cleaning that up and then feeding her. Junior didn’t eat much of what I left out for her last night. I am hoping she will today.

When I got home it was after 8. Mom was emptying the dishwasher. I emptied the dryer and we talked about how we slept. I am afraid she is going to worry about my sleeping habits. The upside is I started my laundry really early.

Right now though she is on the internet looking at carving tips from the NY Times website. She is doing odds and ends and I saw a few minutes of the Charmed Thanksgiving Marathon.

I have some more laundry to get to and make the bed. I have ironing I want to get done too. I will try nad check in before leaving for Bob’s.

Be safe and be happy and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

Well it is raining and after 6 pm. I am so angry right now that it isn’t even funny. As you all know we went to my brother’s for dinner. Mom had been cooking some food for us for the next few days. It wasn’t ready when we left. We left it in the oven for an hour. We got to Bob’s and he was surprised that his turkey was done early or so we thought.

Everyone was there and food was being put out on the table. Everyone eventually came to the table. Until there was a small oven fire the drippings caused a fire and smoke everywhere. Some of us went outside (Mom refused to go out). That was the first thing that pissed me off. After a few minutes it was fine. We finally sat down and Bob’s turkey wasn’t done. So Mom and I came home and got the turkey from the oven. WE drove it over back to Bob’s only to find THAT wasn’t done. So we ended up having the side dishes and some Asian spaghetti and the scallops. All of a sudden Rob comes busting in thinking there was a fire. He saw us all sitting down eating dinner.

He was white as a ghost and shaking. Mom couldn’t understand what was going on. We find out that Rich (Liz’s son) called Rob to tell him there were police and a fire at his folk’s house. I could feel my blood pressure going up. We told Mom what was going on and she didn’t believe it until we were freaking going home. The other guests (Ethel’s friend) thought I was being harsh with Rich. I know my nephew’s sense of humor.

What gets me is Diane was so okay with it. She told me no harm was done. OH you want to bet? Does she realize that Robert could have been in accident or careless about driving to get home?

What was worse is that while Bob put the turkey back in the oven everyone else left the table while we were THERE. Diane was having her own conversation as though her friend Rich was talking about wine and his job with WWE (yeah the Vince McMahon’s Dynasty).

We left there a little before 6. Unfortunately we couldn’t find Mom’s pocketbook I brought it in for her to find Diane’s address. Apparently she never got her birthday gift. We did look but Diane kept saying you must have brought it home. I knew we didn’t.

Oh and on top of that when we left to pick up the turkey there were two west Haven police cars next door. If you thought there was a problem why wouldn't you go and see what was going on?

Well have a slight update which is making me feel like an idiot. My sister just called to see how we were doing and mentioned what happened "all the excitement there". Well it turns out my cousin Dan was driving by and saw the cop cars and called Rich and told him and then Rich called Rob. So thankfully Rich wasn't pulling a prank of any kind.

My saturday

It is almost 4:30 and I have been up about an hour or so. I have been reading my emails from the groups and answering them as well. It seems some people have left Liz Crasten’s list because of the way things are handled there. These same people have opened another forum in which I joined. However, I am going to just watch how things are done because one of the owners I think is the Tricia (the nice lady who thinks she can talk to anyone she wants to the way she wants to) and they all bitched about how they were spoken to. I know I am probably being stupid here considering I am waiting to be approved for this group but it’s the “whole pot calling the kettle black” scenario that was playing out on the list anyway.

In another one we talked about Thanksgiving. What we have for desserts and how the day went for some of us. One woman found a mouse in her laundry room. Yuck.

I finally got to sleep and woke up again around 8 but dozed until 9. Mom was up doing some stuff she showed me an article about a glass house dealing with wild turkeys. This place in New Canaan was built by a respected architect and apparently is considered to be a masterpiece. Here is some info I found this morning. The article talks about their solutions.

I heard from Mardi today via my Kate's Diary she says her mother’s surgery has been cancelled and says she will be in Wallingford on Friday. So we will be meeting for Lunch.

It is now after 6. Mom is at church and I have been to Roberta’s to feed Junior and to do some snacking. We have been home from the party since 4. The party was really nice and small. The food I liked. Having Mom tell me to slow down was very annoying and she better not do it again.

Right now I have a little headache and I think it was brought on by the frosting on the birthday cake at the party. It was way too sweet. I am going to have a piece of pie and perhaps go to bed. I am so very tired.

It is almost 9 now and I am still up and a little headache. Mom came home around 6:30 and put some candles out and lit to get rid of the honey smelling bacon smell. She got into her pajamas and sat down to watch TV. I decided to eat the left over shrimp and have a piece of pie.

The rest of the night had been watching TV. The first hour of Titanic is just finishing up. I was also listening to Show tunes on line. It was pretty good. Heard stuff from Cats, Fiddler on the Roof, and of course West Side Story. I also heard stuff from shows I didn’t recognize.

Well I am off to bed…see ya in the morning… (smile)

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
