Turning the clocks back

So did you all turn your clocks back?  I got up at 5:30 this morning to feed the cats and started to.  The first one was the stove and microwave. I have to change the one on the radio upstairs and the clock above the sink.  Over the years my family and I would either do it before we went to bed, or in the morning we would take the time out to do it.  Every time we did it I would think “well what time is it really?” and of course I noticed how it got dark earlier at night and how early the sun came up.  Sunrise isn’t for another thirteen minutes but it is starting to get light out.

I was just reading this article from Reader’s digest about states opting out and what happens when we stop doing the changing of the clocks.  One thing the article says that crime goes down when we have Daylight savings time.  I don’t agree.  I think it can stay the same.

I am not sure if I want to stop the Daylight savings to stop.  I like seeing the sun still out when I leave work and it stays out until 7 or 8.  It does seem to grow shorter every year though.  There is so much that you can do longer if you needed to.  I don’t relish losing the hour as much my whole Psyche goes awry at least that I have noticed lately.

Yesterday wasn’t a complete wash out.  I had a conversation with Jim.  He really wants me to stay somewhere else when I go to visit him.  He says he will look at the AirBnB’s near his place to see what they look like and see if they meet with his approval.  My one stipulation is that I don’t want to have still driven an hour more to get to see him.  The trip alone should be about 3 hours.

Our next conversation was about finances and how I was doing with it.  He reminded me that doing minimum payments take a long time to pay off the debt.  I told him my hope is that he who will not be mentioned will allow me to use the money to pay off the debt.  WE also talked about the condo and where it is.  I have to send him the information on it again and I iwlll do that tomorrow at work.

After that I headed out to go shopping.  I went to target and got the Swiffer and a few other things.  Some medium sized bags for the poop baskets and bleach ($30 and change).  Then I went to pick up my prescriptions and that was a little more than I expected ($31 and change). Then I went to Aldi’s and got groceries.  That was $79 and change.  I am guessing the cookies and ice cream I could have done without.

I did get more chicken and some ground beef and a pork roast but I am going to try and make this last and not waste it like I have been with the last chicken dish. I also got more frozen vegetables…the fresh stuff would just go to waste.   I haven’t touched the salad fixings.

On the way home I took a ride to the condo.  I didn’t go in (felt too weird besides I don’t have a key) .  I wanted to see if my condo was an end unit or not.  It is not.  I can’t remember if there were blinds or shades in the windows either.  There was a food delivery going on the other side and some people coming home from something. I came home by 5 I think and fed the cats and just fixed myself cookies, coffee, and a bowl of cereal.

The rest of the night I was watching TV, and saw the blue moon and sent pictures.  As I expected no one came down our street but I did hear people’s voices down the road a piece.  It would seem many did celebrate the night.  I read on one of the Milford FB pages that some members had many while others didn’t.  I guess that’s usually the way it is.

I did get a call from Vchair John Moffitt yesterday asking for help on Tuesday.  He asked if I could either do phone banking or Poll standing.  I chose poll standing for 3 hours.  I will have to put the time in tomorrow.  I also told him the news about me moving to the new place soon.  He did tell me it’s the 5th District.  The same were TM and her husbands are.  Whoopee.  I am told the chairman for that district will not take crap from them.  In the end he wished me well and I would be missed.  It’s not as though I am moving to another planet.

On that note, I am a bit annoyed that Kerri didn’t answer my email from Friday.  I know it’s a busy time for her but how hard can it be to say “Hey can’t answer that right now” but I will get back to you on that?

The cats are being exasperating.  The missed the target a few times this weekend (a couple).  They have been climbing to new heights lately as well.  I found Sky on Top of the Refrigerator yesterday and refused to come down.  Tiger was on the counter next to the refrigerator she doesn’t normally sit there.  Sky followed shortly afterwards.  I found Sky sleeping on top of one of my boxes that have kitchen on it.  I just found him in a box with cleaning stuff.  I have no idea where he is now.  I think Tiger went up to my bedroom.

Well I am going to relax for a little bit longer and then get going on the projects I need to do.  I hope I will not be disappointed in the Swiffer Mop.

Turn Back Time

If that title reminds you of the Cher song it’s exactly where I got it from.  My Friend Dave sent it in a text with the following “Cher with friends”.  This weekend its Daylight savings time, where we turn the clocks back to get an extra hour.  I am not sure I like having to be up at 7 and it’s dark.  It was like that this morning and I just wanted to stay in bed.  The night time is not so bad I don’t seem to remember it getting dark at 4 in the past.  Unless it was raining, snowing, cloudy I never noticed but I will be aware.

I got up around 6:30 and did the normal routine and lay down until 7 and got ready for exercise class.  I was there for both classes and came home for two hours and fell asleep.  I went back just before noon for the training session.  We discussed the week’s activities and what should I do now.  I have to schedule at least the next few days of exercise and make sure I eat right.

I got back here by 1 and had lunch and haven’t done very much.  So much for my plan at decluttering today!

I talked with next door and he says there are two resident Eagles in the marsh.  The ospreys are gone but these two moved in.  They have seen them for a while now.  I heard what sounded like an eagle’s caw this morning but didn’t see anything.

I am very excited I signed up for a hike/walk for next Sunday morning in Suffield Ct or as Alex call it Bumfuck boon town. It actually will be an hour away close to the state border.   I plan on leaving here after 8:30 to get there for 10 am walk.  I hope I will be able to find them.  The temperatures will be in the high 30’s next week.  I am going to have to wear warm clothes.

I was just about to write another letter to my Pal Karyn when I opened up the email and she sent one earlier today.  So when I get up tomorrow I will write her a letter before getting my day going.

I made shrimp for dinner.  I had lots of it.  I didn’t finish it because it was too much but it was delicious.  I just have to learn to cook some of them a little longer.

Well I am going to close out and do some crosswords puzzles and go to bed.

Have a blessed one..

Been Having a Hard time

Ever since we turned the clocks ahead I am having a hard time getting up.  Even with Sky’s help. I have slept through some alarms and them. After feeding them I will normally go back to my spot on the couch and either sleep or watch TV.    ONce I have gotten on the move to get ready I sit and watch TV while getting ready. Yet I seem to manage at least in the last two days to get to work within a reasonable time.

I had a pleasant surprise last night.  I found out I was recognized for most attendance for February to the gym.  NewFriend from Gym posted it for himself and I noticed I was like #2 under the Gold list.  Sent message to A and see if he noticed. He did. We met tonight and talked about the week’s appearances.  We talked about what I should have and can have while in LV. I am planning on showing him everything I eat via text and email.

Tonight is the ladies guild and then shopping.  We are having a speaker from the Mercy Center and so it should be great.

As for the shopping I am getting the new shoes and a windbreaker.  Not sure where to go yet. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on either of these things.

A regular Weekend

Yesterday was a regular Saturday-almost  I got ready for my early morning exercise class and discovered i wasn’t ready.  I thought my gym clothes were ready and in the bag.  They weren’t so I headed back home and got them.  I went back for the 9 am class.

The class was great R and S taught it and A was watching for most of it.  I learned some new exercises that were combos of other exercises.  After the class I chatted with A and then headed home until it was time for my session.

Of course I was almost late for them because of traffic around the highway entrances, exits.   Did the inbody. Lost 2 1/2 lbs.  One of the percentages is up and shouldn’t be.  We went over the food Log and steps.  Then did 110 calories of rowing.  Took Forever.  Then I did half hour treadmill.  I was tired by then.

After that I headed home and relaxed and became couch potato for a while and then straightened the kitchen and fed the cats.  Then I went to the store and got salad

The rest of the night I surfed the net.

Today was a sleeping in day especially with the time change.  The kitties were very put out by this.  Of course they were satiated once i fed them and i went back to bed for a while.

We did get a little snow and sleet this morning.  It made the street look like it had ice on it,  By the time I left the house for the gym it was soggy and was only going to get soggier by the time I was going to the Milford Challenge clean up.

I went to the exercise class. It was a little tough for me today. My ankle was  hurting and so did my knees.   I have enrolled in a few more classes for the next few days.

After class I headed to the Grocery store to get some salad from the salad bar.  They don’t normally open it on sunday.  I got two pre packaged.  Before leaving I ran into JM from ladies guild and my co-greeter (can’t think of her initial).

I had gotten IM from JS about the walk.  By then it was raining a little harder and getting colder.  It was still on and we were both heading there.   She was leaving by 1:15 and I was already there.   EcoAG was there with the garbage pickers and so we decided to walk around the parking lot at Walnut beach.  There was a Leprechaun Leap into the water setting up .  They were freaking crazy. Brave but crazy.
We stayed for about a half hour.  To be honest my heart wasn’t into it.  I was cold and wet and starting to get a runny nose and very cold.   So we headed home.  I stopped for Coffee.  Drank it when i got home.

I really should have gone to the shoe store to get some stuff for the trip (the rain jacket, shoes) but I ended up going home and spending time on the couch eating the rest of the salads i had gotten and watching TV.

AFter a while I took a shower, made some vegetarian dinner (read: cooked brussel sprouts).   Did some laundry.

Oh forgot to mention that Friday the nursing home contacted me via email and phone to let me know they were canceling bingo.  No reason given so I am now off from Bingo until I get back from LV.

LIke I said been putting off packing and getting ready for the trip.  However, I did manage to get the suitcase down without and incident yesterday and submitted the hold mail request.

I will probably kick it into high gear come thursday,  In between everything else I need to do.

Right now though I am going to bed.  I have a long day tomorrow.

Got Lazy Again

After doing a few odds and ends yesterday and going to the hairdresser and then to the gym I got lazy.  I was tired from the hour long work out.

I came home around 2 and started getting tired.  I surfed the net and then started to fall asleep.  I made lunch sometime afterwards.

I finally broke down and tried to reset the TV remote on the downstairs TV and of course it didn’t work so I called and got some assistance.  We got it done but the remote does need to be replaced.  It will be here in about a week.  I can’t turn it on by the cable remote.  I can with the other remote.

The rest of the night I sat downstairs watching TV and doing crossword puzzles.  I went to bed by the normal time.  The funny thing is I decided to leave the laptop downstairs and it felt weird because I usually grab it during the night if I wake up.  I slept through the night.

It was Daylight’s saving day today and I ended up staying in bed a lot longer than expected.  It was nearly 7 when I got up.  The kitties were none too happy with me.  I took care of the stove ovens but everything else is going to take “time”.

I am not going to bingo today.  Need to do stuff and need to be with myself.

I found out that parts of the borough had a power outage.  Actually parts of Milford did too again. They got it back by 9.  Customers of Eversource however are still in the dark as of this writing.  Many are outraged and even a rep from Essex has been aggravated.  According to Eversource they are working on things the best they can.

Eversource used to be Northeast Utilities which rebranded in 2015 into Eversource.  I seem to remember that NU had its shares of troubles over the years and it doesn’t seem to be changing much for Eversource.  It’s funny according to their site they service Milford.  I figured all of Milford would be under United Illuminating (who have their problems too).  I would be interested in finding out just how much they service here.

Talked with Jim a while ago.  I don’t think he is handling the time change well.  He told me he was grumpy.

Talked with Liz.  She was wondering if she had hurt my feelings on Friday by rushing me out the window.  I told her not to worry about it.  We talked about our day, the weather and the upcoming week.

So I think I am going to take a cue from my sister and do a few things before the weekend gets finished.

As one Holiday Closes

Well Halloween 2015 is officially over.  If I read my Facebook friends correctly the trick or treaters ranged from 1 up to 30 kids at a time.  I checked in with Liz and she had 8 including her grandson Nelson and granddaughter Olivia.  They closed up shop around 8:30.

Now that this holiday is over we now look forward to the next couple of holidays.  The first is Veteran’s Day.  Obviously it’s the day we honor our Veterans who have served in the Military.  There will be many events around the country and around the city honoring the Veterans.  As you might remember the woman’s Club will be having their annual Veteran’s Program next week.  The venue will be in a different Nursing home as we couldn’t come to terms with a time or date for the one we usually do it for.  (is that vague enough?)

Then of course the biggest holiday that begins the next huge holiday and that would be Thanksgiving.  I have made reservations at Stonebridge one of the most popular restaurants in Milford for ten of us.  I usually start the Christmas cards by then.

I chatted with Jim via text yesterday and I asked if he had talked with his kids about coming up and they will check their schedule.  If they do come up he wants to get a room at the hotel by Outback Restaurant at exit 41.  I wanted to get the rollaway bed and my old room cleaned up so the kids can stay here.  I still may do it.

I also asked him if he was giving out candy he wrote he had other plans but he was going to leave a dish of it out for the crowds (can’t say kids anymore) but from what I read again on Facebook some people could take the dish with them.

The weather this morning has been cool and rainy.  We must have gotten some showers early this morning as the road looked wet and the leaves were all over the road.  It is supposed to be cloudy all day.  If I didn’t have things to do outside the house I would stay in my pajamas and do what I normally do (Veg) but I do have commitments and letters to write.

Sky having no concept of time change what so ever (when did he ever?). Woke me up at quarter of 4 I think.  I managed to stay in bed until 6 again.  I knew both he and Tiger would be hungry.  I got them fed, got my coffee, and cleared out the litterboxes.

Now they are both sleeping.  Tiger on the rocking chair in the back room and Sky in the spring mattress.  Earlier he had been meowing/crying to get somewhere and it just wasn’t happening.  I did let them both in the cellar for an hour and was quite surprised Sky came up when I called.  Tiger came up by herself.

Well I have an email to my niece Kris to answer so I am going to go for now.  Have a great day…

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Yesterday afternoon  Roberta called me around 1 yesterday afternoon and invited me to an impromptu Mexican TRain game with the Krevlins, CHarlie & His wife and of course MOM Roberta and Papa Mike.  They picked me up around 5 pm.  We had \pizza from Zuppardi’s in West Haven..  I had believed I had never been in Krevlin’s home before once I got there I remember being there..   It was a lot of fun.  .  I haven’t seen them in so long too.  I didn’t get back home until after 11.  We talked about lots of stuff and of course the setting the clocks back for Daylight savings or whatever.

For some reason the USA network is blacked out on the TV in the bedroom.    I think I may have pushed a button to mess it up because its working on the other TVs.  I tried to see if there was anything I can do to reset it but I have decided to just let it reset itself.

Today I am doing bingo and then later on this afternoon head over to Liz and Nelson’s for dinner.  Liz won’t be there until 4:30 but Nelson is cooking for the “kids” so I am heading there about 3.  She called me late yesterday afternoon after I called her a couple of times.  SHe got herself a new car.   She is getting it next week and its a Honda fit.  Right now she is driving around in a Camaro and she doesn’t like it.
Now that we turned the clocks back I managed to get up at 6:30 this morning just about the time the lights went on. I am glad because now I can get dressed in the semi dark.  That means they will be going off by 8 I think.  I am not adjusting the timers.  I have a feeling the one downstairs will now go on at 3:30 instead of 4:20.  the one in the bedroom will now probably go on an hour earlier.  I  am sitting here thinking I shouldn’t be writing the schedule of the timers should I?

I just remember the clock above the sink needs to be changed.  Yuck.  I don’t want to have to climb up there.  I will have to do it later today before I head over to Liz’s.

Well I am going to read some blogs and then get ready for bingo.

Snow

It is snowing outside this morning. It is hitting the window with full force. I have been up since five and could hear the wind blowing hard. I turned the TV on and said there was snow coming. I looked outside and there was nothing but now its coming down hard. I was in no way prepared for this. I even wondered why Mom was talking to me about boots yesterday. I hope they are down in the cellar because if they are not I am in deep trouble.

Yesterday was great. It was 50 degrees out for most of yesterday. The sun was shining too. Bingo went well and we had fun. I had roughly 16 to 20 players and we pretty much had no problems. Apparently Bernie and Julia are not speaking to each other. Gee what a surprise.

I talked with Natalie about the activity dates for the next month. I told her I would get back to her on the time for the gift delivery on the 18th. I will call her today about that.

After bingo I was late for church (as usual) I am going to have to start going either on Saturdays or go to an early mass. St Mary’s has a 7 am and 8:30 mass. They do have 4:30 mass Sunday afternoons but I don’t want to get into that habit again.

The Board meeting went well. I was a little late but that’s nothing unusual. There was a traffic tie up on the highway. The meeting was about two hours and we talked about the Discovery trips, the Veteran’s Day activities, and the new members being installed.

After the meeting I went and fed Junior. Roberta left out all the goodies for both the cat and me with a note “only a couple a day”. I am not sure if she was referring to the walnuts or the vast amount of cookies or the cans of food. There is only one problem. The phone numbers and address they left me to contact them or Miriam I can’t find. I have no idea where they went. Let’s hope I don’t need to call them. I can probably find Miriam and Ben’s name online but that’s it.

I tried to drop off the car last night but no one was at the garage at 7 so I have to do it this morning. I called Dolette last night to remind her to pick me up but she didn’t forget but I wanted her to pick me up at the Garage. She said she would between 7:30-7:40. Why can’t she do it earlier? We won’t be getting there until after 8.

The rest of the night I waited for the clothes to be dry. I have to still put the folded sweaters in the sweater holder instead of my bed. I will do that after Debra tonight.

Okay it’s after 6 now and I still have to shower and dress. I have already ironed the clothes I am going to wear but I need to find the boots.

Day Light Savings Time Begins

Daylight Saving Time began at 2 am this morning which in turn became 3 am. There were times over the years infrequent as they were where I would get up at 2 am and change the clocks at the time it said. Mostly we did it either at the time before going to bed or when we got up the next day. This means that it stays lighter longer until maybe June?

I did clean out the car just like Mom asked and did use the glass cleaner on the matt so that looks better but it rally does need a good vacuuming so that I will do the next time we have a sunny day. I am not sure when that will be. As I have said you can’t really count on the weather forecasters in this country anymore. But I do check out weather.com and they say what’s going on or not. Yes they have been known to be wrong.

Telka called me last night around 6 and she told me that the flyers were ready to be delivered to Mediplex and that she would be dropping them off and I think that’s great. We talked about the club meeting and how successful it was and it really was too. I asked her where she got the idea from and she said from the elementary school kids at her school while doing a Black History month project. WE also talked about her getting her accreditation for Special Education. She has run into some trouble in regards to some of the stuff she has done won’t be accepted. So now she has to fill out the paperwork again.

Diane called from Texas last night. She was in between shows and wanted to talk to Mom. She wanted to discuss about getting together in between the shows for the April 24 at Bushnell. We also talked about our health and work and how she is going back to school online. I am so proud of her. I just hope I didn’t sound stupid to her.

Sylvia called last night a bit concerned that she received a phone call from the fire department to remind her to move her car to higher ground in case the area floods tonight. There is a flood warning watch for the shoreline. She wanted to know what we thought about it. I told her I would be very surprised if the water came up this high. This is the first time in the ten years she has been here that she got this type of call. I told her that perhaps down at the mouth of Oyster River might happen but with the houses right across the street basically blocking it from the beach they would get the brunt of it. Now if the rivers or the sewers (or what ever they are called) start to flood then there is a strong possibility but we have never had that type of problems in the entire time I was living here. I told her if she felt uncomfortable that she and her puppy (6 year old Yorkshire terrier Boppie) could come and stay with us.

Mom didn’t get home until 8:30. She loves having dinner with Martha and they have been friends for years. They do this every month. They talk about everything you can imagine.

I called Dave to see how he was but all I got was his voice mail. About 20 minutes to an hour later I received a text message that he was in Texas visiting his sister and her family. I totally forgot that. He also said he definitely wants to go to the play in April. I let Mom know and told her I would be paying for our share.

When I got up this morning it was way after 8 am. That put me behind a bit for getting ready for Bingo. So I was rushing around getting dressed and showered.

Bingo went very well. We had Judy and Rebecca from the club join me along with Jill V. Telka came around 10:30 or so to drop off the flyers. Natalie came in probably 15 minutes before. There was one woman that Judy was transporting and apparently the woman who complains about every pain didn’t move her leg and when she realized she caused a scene she started to cry. I made sure to reassure she didn’t do anything wrong (despite the fact the head nurse was dismissive of the woman’s feelings.

You are not going to believe this but I left the headlights on while I was in Mediplex so I had to get one of the guys from the kitchen to help me out. I ended up missing the 11:30 mass but went to 4:30 mass. I really have to stop doing that. I haven’t done it in quite some time so I don’t know what they heck I was thinking.

When I got home I had to once again pick up our garbage can from the middle of the back yard and put it back. There were several large branches in the yard from the wind. I suspect it was from the tree next to us. One day that entire tree will be either in our yard or give us a sun roof on the back room.

I spent the time before the next mass just hanging out. I was mostly online or watching TV. Never even touched the whole quicken project I left in the dust.

Oh I finally responded to the Birthday invitation from Lisa R for Cheryl. Her birthday party is next Saturday. It looks like we will be carpooling with Liz and Nelson SR because they live in the boondocks. Liz is afraid we will end up in Canada. Ha-Ha.

Something very weird is happening. I went to check emails and every so often I get knocked off the net. I am not sure why but it happened at least three times in the last few days. I will have to keep and eye on it. I have a feeling I pressed the wrong button and throw me off.

Well you know I have emails that need to be moved around or deleted so I think I am going to do that.

Have a great evening.

The Days are getting shorter

It is happening. The days are getting shorter. I have noticed for the past several nights that it has gotten dark before 8:30 when just weeks ago it was still light out. It means that the fall season will be here in no time. I actually don’t mind it. I really do like all the seasons for all the reasons. They would be the different activities, the weather changes, and of course the time change. I think the time change is in October this year but I will have to check again.

Today went pretty well. I was late to work again (just about the same time as in the last few days). This time I was trying to get the CD adapter/.player that Liz gave me to work. It doesn’t. I probably could have done it when I got home but I was hoping to be playing the music on the way in.

I got most of the daily mail done by the time I left. There was one pile or batch from yesterday that I decided to put with tomorrow’s mail. I couldn’t finish it today because I was tired and not feeling well and I wanted to get out early.

I had a dull headache early on but I did eat and seemed okay after taking the ibuprofen and the plaquenil. Unfortunately after having soup and the cheese and tomato salad it came back and it was late in the day. I was so happy to be going home.

When I got home Mom was in her office relaxing. She told me the window facing the back yard in my room is not staying up and will need to be fixed. My brother Bob will be doing that. That’s not a problem. Mom started in on how my room was.

I was starting to get aggravated when she said she couldn’t understand how I could think it was okay. I looked at her ready to loose my temper. I told her simply that the room was/is vacuumed and dusted. I can walk into the room and see the rug. The desk is messy but I will be working on it AT MY LEISURE. That shut her up quick.

I do admit there a few things on the bed that could either be hung or put away but I can do that before going to bed. The things on the floor in the closet is simple for now just close the door. Besides no one needs to be in there. I will be making the bed before I leave tomorrow so that Bob isn’t uncomfortable.

Mom says that we will be going to the Salvatore Campaign fundraiser tomorrow night at the Yacht Club. I will be dressed up. I will also need to get to the bank tomorrow. It should be fun and the food at the Yacht club is pretty good. I have been there lots of times over the years. It was when Mom was honored by United Way a few years ago.

We also will be attending the MHA Fundraiser at Lake Quassy on August 29, 2009. I have not been a big fan of the amusement rides but there will be food and dancing. I am pretty sure we will not be there for a long time.

After we discussed those activities I took a nap before dinner. It felt good and for the most part the headache had gone. The wrists and the arms still hurt but not as much as before.

Dinner was great. Lamb chops and vegetables. It looks like the tank will need to be refilled it was not lighting up the grill and Mom wants me to check it out. She kept hitting it and it sounded hollow.

After dinner I watched some of the NCIS mini marathon. It was all from the first two seasons. I had seen them already and decided to go online. I checked the net for a bit and then watched the second of the 4 episode arc of West Wing that brought Mark Harmon to the attention of Donald Belisario.

Now I am going to bed. Mom has to be up early for a Bridges meeting and lunch with her Knitwit club.

Good night everyone!

Did you change your clocks?

Hey I was just heading to bed on this first night on DLS time. I totally forgot to change the clocks last night so when I thought I was getting up at 6 it was actually 7. It was a matter of minutes that entire hour went away. Every time I looked outside today I kept thinking how bright it was. I guess I though the time change had something to do with it.

I had a pretty good day today. I got to bingo in a pretty decent time. I did get to stop at DD for some hot chocolate and their hash browns. It was good. The store had ice in its drive through lane and a huge puddle in the back of the store. I am glad I didn’t have to do anything with it. I would image with the temperature drop tonight it will be all frozen over again.

I had at least 20 residents playing bingo today. Sam was being playful but apparently some of the other ladies were not taking it that way. Natalie came in around 10:30 to do some paper work. She said there were a lot of trees down in her neighborhood. She lives in Branford I think.

After Bingo I went to church and then went to Costco for gas. The lines were long. As I was waiting for my turn at the pumps I saw Roberta and Mike R. I am not sure where they were heading but she wasn’t really feeling that well. We had a moment to chat while the gas was filling our cars. It was too funny. After we finished that we went our separate ways.

After getting the gas I came home. Mom was already home. She was reading her papers and having coffee. She was going to spend the afternoon working on pulling papers together for meetings. I don’t know if she did that or not. I know she did some cooking.

I spent the afternoon watching TV, and printing up a letter of introduction. I also read some emails. I have to admit I was watching TV more than anything else. I did update a few pen pal files. I have two letters ready to be mailed.

I haven’t really answered many of my pen pal letters that are sitting in my bag. I don’t know why I just haven’t. I am going to give it a try tomorrow when I get home. I am going to have a few unhappy pen pals.

Oh and once again on one of the lists someone was complaining about the cross posting that has been going on. For those who wonder what that means-it means the same message on different lists. My first reaction was going to post something along the lines of “I really get tired of seeing this same question being asked and I think its unfair for anyone to bring this up yet again’. However, I thought better of it. I just wrote that if someone wants to get the same message out to several lists they don’t want to retype it.

Oh Jim called tonight. He had a great time in Boston. He and Mom talked for nearly an hour about things. She was trying to encourage him about things. I hope it was received well. It usually is with Jim. I don’t know if they talked about her visit down there but from what I gather they will be going to a play that Emily is in.

Well I have a long day tomorrow. I better get to bed.

Turned the clocks back

Good Morning! Did you remember to turn your clocks back? I did that this morning. The computer did it already. There are only a few clocks that have to be done manually. I have been up for about a couple of hours now. I got online and answered some emails and found out that my pen pal Lyn from Australia replied to my invite for Multiply.com

I got the papers from outside. It is chilly but nice. The sun is shining and it will be for the day. I got a response from Dan at CEO Blues thanking me for the update on Noel. It supposedly headed toward his town in Canada during the night.

Sadly there was a Milford connection to that horrible accident on Friday in Old Lyme. A Milford man was killed in that accident. He lived here It is a beautiful home and you can read more about Fred Held here. I didn’t know him personally but I always admired his house. My sympathies go to his family and friends.

Mom is still sleeping and probably will for a while but she wants to go see Father Whitson at Mercy Center. I will get her up after I take my shower. On that note I best get my shower going. Like I mentioned before I have a long day today.

Mom came home a short while ago and we changed the clocks back. Mom was contemplating on helping out with the lit drop but I don’t know if she will do it or not. I told her she could drive to each of the houses if necessary. She will see what happens.

Well I better go…I will see you later.

Hey it is almost quarter of 1 and I will be leaving shortly to meet up with Claire C and the others for the lit drop. Bingo went ve4ry well. I had 18 people and we had fun. Afterwards I came home to look for my sunglasses and I couldn’t find them talk about aggravating. I figure it is on my desk at work (keeping my fingers crossed until then).

Okay well it’s been several hours now and the lit drop was very successful. I got to Claire’s house by 12:45 pm and we started on the rest of the streets we got yesterday. Snowapple Lane, Marino Drive (part of it was already done). They were Clark Hill Road, Berner Terrace, and Morris Lane. Claire and I stopped at the Mobil and got gas and some snacks. I had coffee and Ice cream. We finished by 3:15 and we headed back to her house so I could get my car and then we went to Mike and Tessa’s. They were not home so we left the stuff and headed in separate directions. She went home and I stopped to see Patrick.

Patrick is still recovering or fighting the cold. I asked him how he was doing and we talked. He told me David went to the casino today. I said “you know I am going to say this…but you really need to start putting your foot down. I mentioned Dave’ self esteem must be low. The whole it isn’t easy on you. I also said I am empathizing with you when I should be loyal to Dave but I know how he treats everyone. Patrick did say that he ahs packed some stuff. I also told him I am not going to keep calling Dave all the time if he wants a relationship he needs to work at it. I didn’t stay long because Patrick was really not feeling well.

I came home and Mom was upstairs and on the computer. She was very groggy she told me a few times. She had taken a sleeping pill last night. I decided to watch TV and have soup and a sandwich.

I spent time on the computer. Donny next door came by to help Mom with hers and apparently fixed the remote for the living room TV. I called Roberta and made arrangements to hitch a ride with her for the meeting.

Roberta unintentionally gave me some anxious moments. The meeting was at 6:45 and she picked me up at 25 of 7. We didn’t get there until 7. She went the long route. Avoiding the highway altogether.

The meeting went by quickly and we got a few updates. MOM cashed the check we have been waiting on for all these months. We have officially severed all ties with this organization.

After the meeting I showed Telka the minutes from the 4th District and even she question part of it (the drive time section of the minutes about some radio spots). Overall she liked them. We also had conversations about politics, the whole check issue with Mom, and the fact only one of us was invited to the ice show and others were not. I think we stayed for about 20 minutes longer and then we all went home. It was close to 9 when we got back here.

When I got home the TV in the living room was on. Donny fixed the remote control (the batteries were in it wrong).. It will take some time getting use to it.

I answered some emails. I opened a pen pal blog on wordpress.com It is a little raw right now and I am not sure if it will make sense but it should be fun.

Mom is in bed reading still. She was unable to stay awake and I suspect she won’t be awake for much longer.

I am on my way there now.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
