Didn't get much accomplished today

Well it is late Thursday afternoon and the most I did today was having an hour long chat with my friend Dave about work, family, and plans for the rest of this year.  I told him about my experience with the hematology office earlier this week an d he just listened.  He asked a couple of questions about it but what else can he say?
I spent a good part of the day watching TV and made lunch.  I was still hungry by the time I left for the store.
I got to the store probably about quarter of 4 and it took me 45 minutes to get my list that consisted of a mixture of healthy and not so healthy.  It would have been fine if the woman who checked me out got rude with me and I told her off.  She told me there was a limit on the meats that I got and I told her they are different cuts and she told me “I don’t make the rules”.  I looked at her and told her she was rude.  I did give her the one I wanted to give back but I ended up telling her that she was rude and to tell me “I don’t make the rules” snotty was in appropriate.  She walked away.  There was someone watching and I looked at her and she said she was rude.  I believe the woman and the guy who ended up waiting up agreed with me.   I packed up and left.
When I got home I noticed it was nearly 5.  I emptied the groceries but didn’t wipe anything down (it is only me) and then I fed the cats and got ready for the Trivia game.  I still had an hour and half before it started so I relaxed and watched TV.
I got on to the trivia game about ten minutes before it started and saw Tricia (moderator for the night) and of course Gillion, and the rest of the crew including Authoress51.  I was so pleased she made it.  We all had a great time and I only jumped the gun a few times.  I hope you had a great time Authoress51.
I was thrilled that half way through the game Sky came down and sat behind me for the rest of the time.  Unfortunately I had a small lamp on and you really couldn’t see him.  Tiger came down just as we finished and is sitting next time and Sky took off for an unknown location.  I am guessing back up to the bed waiting for me to get there.  The coffee has other ideas.
My Friend JoanS is going to be really disappointed with me.  I didn’t sign up for the Walk the shoreline challenge that starts tomorrow afternoon and goes the entire weekend.  She told me when I saw her last that I could choose my walk anywhere along the beach but I don’t have $25 donation entry fee.  I already made a couple of donations this month to other things including the Volunteer Fireman’s association and I just got the receipt for that in today’s mail.
I got some alerts that my car needs servicing and that the emissions is due.  I will call the service department for the Honda tomorrow and look to see where the emissions can be done. The last time I did it was at firestone near my sister’s house.
I definitely don’t want to spend the day watching TV and I say that every day and unfortunately end up doing it anyway.  The same with the crossword puzzles. I think I will update my Honey do list and make sure I do it.
The rain stopped for a while this afternoon and is expected to start up again before the night is over.  I may have mentioned it is supposed to rain tomorrow all day as well.  Saturday is supposed to be dryer and nearly 70 degrees and partial cloudy.
Well I straightened the kitchen up.  Dishwasher is emptied and refilled for the next wash and the floor is swept.
I am going to bed and get some sleep.

Have a great one.

Last Day of My Adventure

Today is my last full day of my adventures in Las Vegas.  I wasn't expecting much except to prepare for the flight home tomorrow. That changed after last night's meet up.

We were invited to another game Mexican train at Einstein bagels at 1.  It will be in likelihood our dinner as well.

We will be leaving here around 10 and have to get a check up for one of the cars first.

Then tonight last minute laundry. I will also print out the boarding pass and then bed for me.  I haven't been sleeping all that well lately. As a matter of fact I wrote this at 4 in the morning.  I had an alarm set for seven so I could get my walk in before the day started. I woke up late.

I received my schedule for Bingo this month.  I am doing Bingo at 10:30 in the morning on the 7th and my regular time on Easter Sunday.  Which means whatever plans I did have got boggled.

It was about that time I also got my appointment confirmations for this week for the infusion and the dermatologist later on in the week.

Happily we didn't have to wait long for the car to be serviced.  We had a late breakfast at Bagelmania. The spinach omelette egg white was delicious

After breakfast we killed some time at Freyes electronics.  That store is huge.

Soon we were heading to the Mexican train Meetup.

On the way there I got my check in email for my flight.  I was a little unsure on how to do it by the phone but it wasn't hard at all the boarding pass is now in my email.  I am glad because I want to save paper.

The Mexican train was fun two tables like last night.  Met some new people and recognized others I have met early this week.

I  had some coffee and chocolate croissant. I expect that the coffee will kick in later.

We got back home by 4:30.  I made a call to big bro and took a nap.

The rest of the night quiet.

Trying to find Keys

Okay it's late and I have been trying to find all three sets of my car keys.  I have found two  of them but there is another one that I gave to the garage to use while they were servicing it.  I had it when I came home Thursday.  I have been looking for two days for that one and more than once I had a sense of panic.  I am sure it is around here because I couldn’t have gone anywhere without it.   I have a feeling its wrapped up in the blankets on here.

I had a great time today.  Mom got up before me and had her coffee and paper and I got online and surfed the net for a bit and wrote in all of my NCIS blogs. I write the same thing in all of them much like I do with my RL blogs.  My inbox had a reply to my entry.  After a while we got ready for the afternoon.

I got some chores done before the afternoon arrived and Mom baked the dessert. AFter I got the chores done I ran to the bank and the to Liz and Nelson’s to drop some stuff off from Mom.

Liz and Nelson got home from their Maryland trip around 1 yesterday.  However they were not home long before they took off for Killingworth for more family time.  Nelson 3 had a recital and they were there to watch.  I saw them around 1 and spent some time with them.

Everything was all ready for the game session when I got back to the house.  SHortly after 2 everyone began arriving.  First it was Debbie then Carol and then Debbie’s Friend Stan and last be not least Mike and Roberta.  We started the games and then ordered the food and it arrived around 3:30.

While we were playing we got to know Debbie’s new guy Stan.  He is very nice somewhat shy I think but really nice and I hope this works out for Debbie.  He will be joining us the next time and for our Boomers night as well.

It was sometime after 8:30 when everyone left.  We cleaned up the kitchen and dining room and now I have been watching TV and will be going to bed soon.

Fabulous Friday

The weather today was absolutely fabulous.  A little on the windy side but beautiful.  While it was wonderful here my thoughts drifted to the midwest and the west coast where both are dealing with terrible conditions.  The midwest was hit but an unusual May snowstorm that effects from MN all the way down towards Oklahoma..  California is experiencing the worst wildfire in many years..  Four THousand homes are being lost.  School and universities canceling classes because of the fires.  Connecticut has some wildfire alerts in the northern part of the state as well as southeast part of the state.  My heart goes out to everyone in this unfortunate time..

Work was good I got a lot done and even managed a birthday song or two.  There was an employee participation meeting that I had to miss.   Apparently there was a picture of me in the presentation taken a couple of years back.  Several people mentioned it to me in the last two days.

I had my session with Debra today.  I told her about the bumps in the road that I experienced this week with Mom.  We talked about work, and the plans for the next couple of weeks.  We will meet again next Friday.

When I came home tonight the guys were still working on the sewer project on our street and worked until 7:30.  I think I am going to take a walk down in that direction to see what has been going on.

Mom and I had lasagna that was already made from Costco (it was frozen) and we agreed it was pretty good. for $10.  Mom has broken it down into smaller portions for the future.

I managed to get some laundry done and  are getting some things done for tomorrow’s Mexican train game.

We set the table up tonight (added the leaf and tablecloth) and put out plates for our dinner tomorrow.  I will bring up the chairs before taking off for the labs tomorrow.  We have the coffee and we also have to get the ice maker ready for fresh ice.  I hope everyone can find a place to park tomorrow.  Some of the equipment has been moved around.
My right leg has been bothering me this evening.  I am not sure why.  I know I walked pretty fast today and i caught my leg in between the bed and the chair a couple of times.  IF I get off it soon it will be fine.

OKay I am going to bed.  I hope you had a great Friday.

A Busy Sunday

From start to finish yesterday was a Busy Sunday.  I woke up fairly early to get some online time and get some bills paid bright and early.  I did some surfing and TV watching until it was time for me to get ready for bingo.

When I left I headed to Dunkin Donuts and got some heavy duty sugar rations (two jelly filled donuts and coffee).  A short time later I got to the nursing home. PJ was there doing odds and ends.  It was good to see her.  I even shared some coffee with her.

As usual bingo started late.  I had to forcefully tell one resident that if she continued to be argumentative, rude and obnoxious she would have to leave.  She was fine for the rest of the time.  Our bingo session ended earlier than I planned because it was time for St Peter’s Eucharist service.  I was glad to get out early because there was Pomp and Circumstance going on at church.  What?

Liz had called me to remind me that the Knights were participating in the mass today because they were going to have their induction ceremony after church.  Many people were dressed up.   That included the Candidates and their families and of course current members too.  BIL was in his full uniform.  After the mass I said goodbye to Liz while she walked to the Wives Tea (snicker) and the men folk did their induction ceremony.

When I got home Mom in the kitchen she had been cleaning and getting things ready for the Mexican Train game.  She was also making soup and stuff like that.  I got the chairs out too.

We had a visit from Cousin Donna.  She and her husband are up here for the summer.  She even brought her 2 year old cat with her.  It likes to travel it’s a cutie pie.  After that visit was over we had a few more things to do and then my guests arrived.

Debbie was first and the after a bit Mike and Roberta were next.  Our other players couldn’t attend so it was just the four of us.  We ordered the food around 2:30 and we played until it arrived.  We had a great time and we were finished by 7.

When they all left (we have the next one already planned) I cleaned the kitchen and started laundry.  Mom had finally come downstairs again in her pajamas and watched TV.  I did watch TV with her for awhile then she went to bed and I stayed awake long enough to at least finish some of the laundry.
I was exhausted by the time I went to sleep.  I had a good sleep and when I woke I saw the most beautiful sunrise.  Words can’t really describe it and of course I don’t have a camera to show you.

I had a good day at work.  I got a lot done and managed to get most of it done by the time I started OT.  We were all shocked to learn of the bombings at the Boston Marathon this afternoon.  I had heard about it from co-workers and on the radio this evening.  I saw pictures and nearly cried.

Dave sent me a message asking about the news I replied and asked if he had gone up because he is a runner.  He usually does run some marathons.  Happily he was on his way to do a flight.

Mom called me while I was at lunch.  She has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and wanted to know if I would come along.  I jumped at the invitation.  Liz will also be there.  It will be the same Dr. I go for the hematologist.  I get to see him in two weeks myself.  I let my manager know and put the time in.

Mom had a meeting tonight and got home about an hour ago.  She had warmed up the soup from yesterday and I ate the chicken.  I watched TV and then totally forgot to put away the rest of the food.  Mom cleared it before she came upstairs to get into her pajamas.

I actually did some walking today.  I had to go the bank on the other side of town.  I took my water bottle with me too.  It took me a little longer to get back but that’s okay.  I just kept on working until I got it done.

I can barely keep my eyes open so I am going to say good night.  I hope you are all safe and sound.

Rough

It was really rough getting up at 8 am this morning.  I know that I set my alarm for that time but part of the reason it was so rough is I took the night time Aspirin?  The stuff that has a sleep aid in it well I am here to tell you it made me want to sleep longer.  I didn’t like that feeling and it has happened almost every time I have used it.  I certainly can’t take it when I have to go to work the next day.  Yeesh!

I started getting ready for Bingo around 8:30.  While I was showering I got a phone call from DebbieM.  We were coordinating schedules for April for the Mexican Train game.  I distinctly remember telling her to call between 1 and 4.  As it was I had the phone on Vibrate and didn’t hear it anyway.   This afternoon I called Roberta to let her know that any time in April will be fine.

I was really running late for bingo this morning and I knew it would be shortened because there was to be a Eucharistic Service provided by St Peters Episcopalian Church today.  This was a God send for me.  I would be able to get to church on time this morning.  MB came in looking as groggy as I did with his caramel coffee in hand.  I let him do a lot of the coffee serving and put out the bingo stuff.  Natalie was on duty today but she came a little bit later.  I had a great time catching up with her.  The next time she works the weekend will be in mid to late April.

We had twelve players despite the time change and we had fun.  I also had the opportunity to see some of the members of 1199 who had to strike for fair wages and their benefits.  Unfortunately Bridge Haven has declared bankruptcy so they would not have to fulfill their obligations to the returning workers.  Of course I welcomed those that I could back to the facility.

After the bingo I did go and get more coffee and mid morning snack.  I opted for the Dunkin Donuts hash browns instead of their featured donut for the month Irish Cream.

It was still early for the mass so I sat in the car and ate breakfast until I saw Liz and Nelson.  We ended up sitting near the church hall and Liz served communion to those parishioners who sat there.  We could have gone t here but we didn’t.  Before mass stared the Arch Bishop’s Appeal movie that I saw last Sunday was played for the ST Mary’s parish.  I would have liked to sleep through it but indifference to Liz I didn’t.

After Mass I headed home.  Mom was cooking so I let her be with that.  She has the garbage ready to go out after cooking so I will put it out.

I spent some time talking Neighbor Chris down the street.  We talked about the weekend and the weather.  He had to finish some stuff and I need to go to start taking a nap.

Dave sent me a message that he will be picking me up for dinner at 4:30 (it probably will be later) so I am going to take a nap for now so I will see you later.

My Calendar is getting full

I noticed that my online calendars are not coordinated with my appointment books.  I have a lot of stuff that need to be added to both.  For Example DMarcus emailed us about two upcoming activities.  The first is the Military Whist at her Synagogue on March 9th, and then the dinner gathering at Vito’s in Newington on the 16th.

Tonight DMarcus called with updates.  She had talked with M&R and they are all set for the 9th.  So I will be riding up with them.  I still have to coordinate the time.  It starts at 7:30.  They are not how ever going to be at the Vito’s with us.  So Debbie and I discussed the possibility of me driving to her house in Wallingford and then we drive to Newington together.  It will be late by the time we get back to her house and then of course back home.

In April our group will be attending DMarcus’ Synagogue’s Anniversary Dinner and that’s on the 20th.  I will have to get a new outfit for that one.  (OMG Did I really say a new outfit?)

The woman’s Club has a lot of things coming up.  The first thing we have going is a clothing drive.   We have a place in New York that will take it for us.  I think Dr. T said something along the lines of 200 lbs of clothes for a price.

The Creative writing contest is currently going on and the winners will be awarded in May 22 at the City Hall reception we will have.

In April we have our International dinner at the Beth El Shelter.  There are new regulations too.  All the main cooking has to be done on site instead of being brought to the facility.  We have our Fashion Show at the Nursing home on the 27th of April.  I am “the transportation” squad.

We have election of officers in May.  For all intensive purposes I will remain as Secretary.  Then in the late spring early summer we have to plan for our summer activities.

The DTC has a number of activities coming up (mostly fundraisers).  We have a membership cocktail party in March (the same night as our 4th District).  I have an email to the district chairman asking about our next meeting.  We may or may not be marching in the City’s St Patrick’s Day parade.  It depends on anyone who wants to march.  It is on March 9th.  Truthfully I may not be able to march anyway.  My legs may not cooperate.  I have to prepare for that night.

We also have to prepare for our annual Awards Banquet.  That’s in June and we may be having some highly important guests.  That’s usually a fun night.

Well I think its time for me to crash.  The hands are feeling a little stiff tonight.

Tonight is Mexican Train Game

Good Morning everyone I finally got some sleep after one. I have already started laundry and had breakfast. I was watching TV for a little while. I am going to work on the room for a bit and then get ready for tonight.

Mom was up before me but she isn’t feeling great. It’s clear she has a sinus infection. She is working on her taxes now at least it’s a little darker in there.

Everyone should be here by 5. We were supposed to play last month but because of the snow storm and messy weather we delayed it until this month. We are going to play a couple of rounds of the dominoes game then have dinner.

We usually have Chinese food from the restaurant down the street from us. We usually get something different and mine is usally General Tsao’s Chicken but I think I may go with Shrimp and rice or something. We will have snacks as well. I think Mom made some pie. I believe we have cookies too.

I am hoping we won’t be still playing after Midnight. I have a full morning of things to do and I want the afternoon to do my own things-even though it is Mom’s birthday and Bob’s.

Okay time to check Laundry.

Mexican Train Game

I had a great time last night. Roberta and Mike picked me up after 5 and we headed to Carol and Gary’s house. We were the last to arrive. It was quite unusual to be the last ones instead of the first. I first met all of the attendees’ years ago at Roberta and Mike’s Daughters showers. They all knew each other attending the same Synagogue. They became good friends over the years and they get together a couple of times a month and play the Mexican Train Game.

What is the Mexican Train Game you ask? Well Wikipedia best explains it. Mexican Train Game is a dominos game. You can have up to six or seven players I think and there are thirteen rounds. The Wikipedia article best explains the different aspects. There have been times where we have played until 1 in the morning. We usually have dinner either at a restaurant or order in. We talk about things that are going in our lives, current events and of course joke. I am still a newbie at it but have done pretty well in the short time I have been attending. We haven’t scheduled the next one but it probably will be sometime in October.

I was feeling very proud of myself yesterday I managed to get all the laundry and my room cleaned before the day was finished. I actually have my desk and probably the closet to work on next but I am going to do that later on after bingo. Well at least try. I have a mount of stuff on this desk.

I had only one little mishap. As I was vacuuming I pulled it back on to my Big toe and literally broke the nail! It got a little bloody but hurt like hell. It is still cracked and every time I think about it I cringe. I have it covered with a band aid but it brushes against anything and it feels like it gets pulled.

Well it is after 1 in the morning and I need to get some sleep. I shouldn’t have had the coffee but it was a chilly night and Carol keeps the back door opened for their dogs to come in and out at will.

Good night…

Early Start

It is only 8:15 in the morning and I have already started my day. I have started the last of the laundry and had breakfast. Mom is encouraging me to get the room cleaned as we have only two weeks until the thirty one year tradition.

I got an email from Roberta last night reminding me about tonight’s game. They will be picking me up around 5:15 and we are going to Gary & Carol’s house and having dinner first. We are having Chinese. Roberta and Mike say they want to pay for it but they also want to take me out for taking care of Junior. She also got a phone survey from the Republican Party and as soon as she told them who she planned on voting for they ended the survey and informed her that the Republican Candidate paid for the survey. This should be a good indicator to the Republicans to what to expect in November.

Well I better get going I have another load of laundry and vacuuming and cleaning to do before the morning gets away.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
