Another Monday draws to a close

As another Monday drifts off into a memory I am sitting here thinking what memories I will remember fondly and what memories I will try and forget? There were many. My bus ride was pretty good. A man got on in West Haven and didn’t have enough change. He clearly had issues and I couldn’t begin to tell you what they were. He didn’t have enough money for the bus fair. I gave him a dollar. He said he would use on the next leg of his journey since this bus driver gave him a pass. Did I do the right thing? I don’t know. Work was hectic. I had not received the bulk of the lockbox and when I do it will be a lot. Volume wise the post office mail seemed heavy. I had to stay until 5:30 to make sure the bulk of it was done and delivered. I was almost finished with readdress mail from last week but got more today. My first priority tomorrow though will be the postage tallies (I had over 100 pieces). I was really annoyed that once again someone was stupid enough to send cash for payment for a visi...

I think I may be getting my wish

The 31 year tradition is over. This may be the last one and those words came from Mom after we learned about the numbers of people who were invited and confirmed and who basically showed up. Tessa told us she sent out 300 invitations/flyers in the mail. They were to those who were in the fourth district that were families with children in the school system, Single mothers with teenagers all that could come and meet the candidates. Of the 300 people 28 confirmed (RSVP) and said they would be here. Guess what? This was the list: Three of our neighbors from the street came One of my neighbor’s sisters and two friends of hers. 1 friend of Mom’s from Bridges Six Candidates Four other 4th District Members Kevin Lembo the state Treasurer One woman I didn’t recognize My friends Mike and Roberta came in support. Tessa was thoroughly disgusted. She says and I agree with her that the people in this town are apathetic. They are not informed and could have learned so much...

the Woman's Financial Conference

I woke up around 4.started getting ready and was out the door by 6:20. The Moon was in the western sky and was just as beautiful as the night before. It was still dark when I got to Telka’s house but an hour later as we made our way through the Merritt parkway the sun was rising in the sky which made the surrounding trees look beautiful. On the way to the convention Telka and I talked about club stuff and about Ted. The club stuff is Telka is interested in taking five girls and go on trip (that’s usually done through schools) and use it as community service. She is in the process of getting mrore information on and will send it to us via email. There are some international trips as well as one here in the states. It is something I am very interested in doing. We got to the convention center a little after 7. We registered and got a “good bag” with things inside it including a book “The Power to Prosper” from the keynote speaker Michelle Singletary. We went to the various tables...

President's Day

Yesterday was President’s Day. It was designated the day all the President’s that were born in February are remembered and celebrated for their accomplishments in our history. Some places have the day off (Yale doesn’t). There will be no mail (just like I mentioned yesterday) banks will be closed as well. Many families will be or have already for things for the kids to do for the day. Many students have off this week. Work was going along pretty smoothly. We all got a big scare shortly after Gayle arrived. She became ill and we were not sure if it was a stroke or what. I was so upset because I felt guilty I didn’t do enough when she walked in. I could sense something wrong. She was taken to the hospital and checked out and by the end of the day was released from the hospital. By the end of the day I was exhausted. I went to my session with Debra and we discussed that and the previous week’s events. The session went by quickly. When I left it was after 5 and the sun hadn’t...

Crazy Day

Hey this is going to be a short entry tonight as I have laundry to do and things that need doing before I get to bed. Besides I am working tomorrow for some hours and I need to get rested. Things at work are pretty much the same as yesterday tense and testy. I understand that Sue R was yelled at by her boss and as a result Sue has been riding everyone else. She barely talked with me and I know I kept busy and got the mail mostly done. I have just one pile to do and I will do that on Tuesday. I heard from Liz today. She wanted to know the name of my hair cutters place I gave it to her and the number. WE talked about the pictures and how I could get copies. I still will probably have to pay for them. We had the birthday party for Niamba today. WE had pizza instead of wings and of course ice cream and cake. As always it was delicious and filling. All but 2 bills are paid. They are the payment for Debra and the Silkies pantyhose. They will both be paid by the time I go to bed. O...

Totally Tubular Tuesday

Today was totally tubular. I got up early and got my day started. I ironed my clothes made my bed and folded the clothes I left in the dryer downstairs. I even managed to catch some of Angel on TNT. It was the one where Holt takes baby Connor to the other dimension. I got to Roberta’s house to find the pups waiting for me and so gave them some attention and then went inside to get the cat fed (and get some treats for the pups). It didn’t take long and I was on the road again a short time later. The drive was okay even though I thought the highway seemed busy. Maybe it was where I got on. Once I got to New Haven it seemed better. I was glad because I didn’t want to be late. It was before 8 when I got to the building so I got some coffee and then went upstairs and got settled in. It took me some time to start my work. I really should have started on yesterday’s work immediately but I didn’t. I chatted with Joan for a bit and with Terry. A short time later the charts and morni...

I was thinking

I was thinking yesterday that I have noticed in the last couple of days I was slipping back into some old habits. For example I haven’t made my bed since Saturday. The whole point of me waking up at five is not to turn over and go to sleep for an hour more. It is to get up and make the bed, have breakfast perhaps, get online for a bit and most importantly get ready for work without rushing around. I have caught myself leaving my desk a little cluttered. I didn’t like it. It was a small mount of papers and not neatly either. I have since rectified it by throwing out the papers I have gotten the information from it. I have organized the piles to a neater way. Now I make sure that if I take something out or have dropped it on the floor to pick it up and put it away. In the Blue room where most of my work clothes and special occasion clothes are in the wardrobe or even the back of the door found themselves on the bed after being in the laundry. I made myself take the time and hang t...

November 14, 2008

It was a pretty good day. We celebrated Toni’s birthday with cake and we said goodbye to Nora C from Reimbursement as she has taken a position in the OB/GYN department within the Medical Group. I was able to finish all of my work by 2:15 and spent the rest of the day pulling EOB’s and picking up the NOPPs from Registration. They are really privacy papers the patients sign to allow us to deal with the insurance companies and healthcare facilities. Terry and I were laughing that I could be talking to people on the way to my car and she wondered what time I get home with all the chatting. I told her about the time I hugged a complete stranger thinking I knew them. Earlier this week I wrote about how I was aggravated by several occurrences well I didn’t mention one. It was over a bill I had paid (at least I thought I did) for Union Plus back on November 1. That was thirteen days ago and they still haven’t received it! I am going to have to write them a letter and then if they don’t ...

Going Apple Picking Today

Good Morning! I am leaving in 15 minutes with Dave to meet Mary and her sons at the restaurant for lunch and then go to the Orchard. I suspect we will also do the Corn Maze. That should be fun. Not really but what the hay. Hey everyone I am back. It has been a long day. Dave didn’t get here until around 11:15 and we had to wait a bit because Mary was still at church. I told Dave they should have said this originally. I mean I could have done bingo if I tried and also went to church. I was going to go at 8:30 but by the time it came time I didn’t. We started off at 11:30 and headed to the Meeting place while we were driving Mary called and said she would not be getting there until 1. So we made a few side stops. (Now that I am writing this so late I can’t remember what order they were.) They were Dunkin Doughnuts, Vinnie’s garden shop they all didn’t take very long. Mary and the kids were just ordering when got there (we had no trouble finding it). It was in a lovely place on Route 66. ...

November 29, 2007

Well it is almost 9:30 on this chilly and cloudy day. The “weather gang” predicted some light rain during the day. As long as it doesn’t interfere with me getting to Betty’s retirement party then that’s fine. I slept until 6:30 this morning. When I got up I put the remaining papers out and the paper guy was delivering the NYTimes. Great just what I wanted the world to see-me in my pajamas. After that was done I got into the shower and when I finished with that I went back to my room and got online longer than I should have. I managed to leave before 7:30 and get the rest of the garbage out. The ride in was fine for the most part. There were one or two people driving very close to me while I was in the fast lane. I was going like 60. There was a car in front of me that I wanted to give room to (isn’t that what you are supposed to do anyway?) I walked part of the way with this woman from Training and software (I can’t remember her name) but we were talking about the increased number of e...

House cleaning

Well it is a beautiful day here in Milford. I am listening to a radio station in Danbury CT online. It is 98.3 Q. I am wondering if this is one that Mary G or Mardi listens to when they are home. The current temperature is 40. It apparently it rained during the night because the street and pavement and car were wet. I think it is supposed to stay this way for today. In some areas there was black ice. I got to bingo early and found that Bunny was there today. She was working with out Chilly because there were some problems because she was docked because she was late one day. Natalie came in as well. I had seventeen residents for bingo. That was a lot of people. I came straight home and got changed and started to set up my radio and then decided to start vacuuming so I did and now I need to get back down there. I took a couple of breaks and managed to go talk to Sylvia. We talked about the party. I told her about Claire D and how she made her seating request. When I finishe...
