As you are preparing to go to bed please remember in your thoughts and prayers nine people who were killed today in Manchester Connecticut. As you may know a man who was being dismissed on disciplinary matters shot and killed 8 others and turned the gun on himself. According to the New Haven Register he had been caught on video stealing beer and was given the option of resigning or being fired. It was a horrible ordeal and apparently made national news.
I don’t feel anger I feel sadness because there were so many different stories coming out of this nightmare. Was he being racially harassed? Was he mentally ill (probably) and didn’t or couldn’t get the help he needed? People also need to feel safe in their work place and I hope this will be taken care of.
My work place is safe for now. We just barely made our goal for the month in Accounts Receivable. We worked hard at it too. Gayle is very pleased but is showing signs (at least to me) of being tired. Susan has been very quiet in the last few days and its only Tuesday. Gayle explained it was month end reports so my job is just to do my work and don’t do stupid stuff.
Mom had a busy morning and day. She had a meeting this morning at Bridges. They were putting the final touches on their biggest fundraiser “Folks on Spokes” for this October. Mom had her monthly lunch date with her class of 44. They had to prepare for the big reunion at the end of the month. They are expecting at least 30 out of 116 to attend. I don’t think they have anything else planned for the reunion except a dinner. I mean most of them are in their mid 80’s.
We had soup and rolls for dinner tonight. I got the rolls at Stop and Shop in West Haven. They were delicious. The whole dinner was great. We watched the news.
After we had dinner Mom sewed the new hemlines on my jeans that we bought at Talbots Outlets a couple of weeks ago. They looked great. I can probably wear them this Saturday at Ted’s Graduation.
Well the laundry is done for the night and it is nearly midnight and I have another long day ahead of me. I will say good night.

President's Day
Yesterday was President’s Day. It was designated the day all the President’s that were born in February are remembered and celebrated for their accomplishments in our history. Some places have the day off (Yale doesn’t). There will be no mail (just like I mentioned yesterday) banks will be closed as well. Many families will be or have already for things for the kids to do for the day. Many students have off this week.
Work was going along pretty smoothly. We all got a big scare shortly after Gayle arrived. She became ill and we were not sure if it was a stroke or what. I was so upset because I felt guilty I didn’t do enough when she walked in. I could sense something wrong. She was taken to the hospital and checked out and by the end of the day was released from the hospital. By the end of the day I was exhausted.
I went to my session with Debra and we discussed that and the previous week’s events. The session went by quickly. When I left it was after 5 and the sun hadn’t set yet. It was cloudy as the storm was coming in. I called Mom to let her know I was on my way home. I also told her I wasn’t feeling well.
Mom went ahead and had dinner without me so that she could go to an event our friend Bruce B was hosting. I stayed home and had dinner and watched TV and then went to bed. Mom came home probably a little after 9.
That’s when the latest snow storm began. It lasted until mid morning today and then another one came in around 12:30. That one finished up about an hour ago. This will probably make tomorrow’s commute rather dicey. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t stay for OT tonight.
Today was a very energetic day. We had a diversity meeting with Administration and the diversity office. The session before ours seemed very volatile and the energy washed over us like a huge wave.
Gayle decided to stay home today and rest up. She called to ask me to help her with setting up her fax from home. It worked. She apologized for scaring me. A part of me was a little embarrassed because that was really the last thing I wanted for her to worry about.
She will be coming in to work tomorrow. Hopefully she will take it easy. I will be spending the time finishing up today’s mail. It came late and because I had the diversity meeting everything was thrown off course.
Now right though I have to run around my room and get it cleaned up for the Energy Auditors visit tomorrow. Mom neglected to tell me it was this week. I really am tired and want to go to bed.

Many Thoughts
I have so much going through my head right now. I did not get a chance to write at all while at work. Although I found time to get online a few times. I left here a little after 7:15. Mom was just getting up and having coffee and about to get ready fro her meeting at Bridges.
The drive in wasn’t bad at all. Well maybe when I was pulling into the parking spot. One car was coming at me and didn’t look like he was going to stop. Thankfully he did. I kvetched about it to someone.
I got to the office a little before 8 and managed to pick up the mail from Customer Service and Registration. I even took some to Registration. The day went pretty well. I started off with the charts and there were like 32 (I counted them) MR. Mike from Gofor had to bring them in two totes (the long ones that look the chests you bring to college. I sorted them and delivered them. While I was sorting Arcenia brought me the lockbox for today. It wasn’t bad but would have to until I did yesterday’s post office mail.
Once I had the charts delivered I started the rest of the mail. It didn’t take long and so I was able to finish lockbox before post office mail came. From time to time I delivered the mail to customer service and Susan and Sally. I also was doing the labels for the personal mail.
At one point I was talking with Jocelyn and we talked about food. She gave me strudel (the frozen ones from Pillsbury) and some mini wheat box. It just about that time we decided to get wings from a Chinese place and some rice. I also got finagled into loaning Jocelyn $25. $5 for today’s mail and I have no idea for the $20. All morning I was feeling a little awkward and nervous. I didn’t want to be mean but neither did I want to give that much. Now is done with. I gave it to her. I just hope she doesn’t make a habit of it.
At lunch time I went to the bank. As I was walking near City Hall I was crossing the street and this woman came barreling down the street and almost didn’t stop. She slowed down when I didn’t move and looked right at her and yelled slow down. She did for about 30 seconds. I walked to the other side and she almost hit someone else. I swear there was a full moon because I watched woman cop give a state employee a hard time about parking in front of the city hall.
I got to the bank a short time later. I told the teller what had transpired earlier and they were shocked or disgusted I really couldn’t tell. I got the money and headed back to the office.
I made it back to the office by 12:30 I can’t remember if I was still working on opening the mail or starting on the chart request. The food came around 10 of 1. I had wings and fried rice, soda and later on got two more. I gave Jocelyn hers. She would it eat later.
I also took the opportunity to pay Michelle S my contribution to the group gift for Patti and Susan. I couldn’t pay for the candy IOU to Carol so I can do that tomorrow. I got a couple more soda’s that probably contributed to my feeling hyper this afternoon.
I worked on the individual personal mail and made more labels. I took care of the bad addresses and delivered the last of the interoffice mail.
At one point I found myself asking Patti if she has had any complaints or problems with the way I have been doing the mail. The reason I did this is all the managers and team leaders were at a staff meeting. Sometimes I get a little worried. Pattie reassured me that everything is fine and if it wasn’t I would know about it. That’s very true. I think it was because I was feeling a little hyper and sensitive.
I managed to make a few phone calls today. One of them was to Mom and the other to Liz and Nelson. Mom had just come home from her meeting and she told me it went well. She also was driving along New Haven Avenue and a doe crossed the street in front of her. I started to sing the song from Sound of Music (the scales). When I called Liz and Nelson’s house Nelson answer the phone. It was close to lunch time and Liz was still asleep. I explained the reason for my call (the question about where does everyone get their gas from) and he said anywhere.
When I left the office it was 4 on the dot. I got to the car ten minutes later and drove home. The sun was setting in the west and traffic was heavy but moving along I-95. I got home by 4:30 I think.
I checked my mail and noticed dinner was cooking. Mom was upstairs on the phone. I decided to go and watched Charmed. It was the 1st season finale where Ted King ended his run on the show. After a while and once I thought Mom was off the phone I went looking for her only to find she was still on.
She came down around 5. Checked the dinner and started cooking potatoes. We talked about whom she was talking with and some good news. She called Union plus and got info about the finance charge and then told them about mine they looked into it and I was given the finance charge in error they will be refunding me the .50 It was just about then the phone rung. It was Liz.
The conversation lasted about 10 minutes. She gave a list of the places for the gas cards. Either Mobil or Shell would be the places to go. She suggested Dicks Sporting Goods for young Brian. She thought that a gas card for Mike Junior would be wise as well.
While dinner was cooking I emptied the garbage and put out the recyclable stuff. It didn’t take long but I wanted to get it out early. I wasn’t sure if it was going to rain or not. I also managed to get some stuff out of the car too.
Dinner was great. Mom and I talked about her conversation with Judge Beverly. Mom says she will be making an appointment to see Beverly and then arrange one for us to go together. I asked what did she want to see come from this meeting. She does have some concerns that I wouldn’t be able to live here. If that were the case then she would like to see me in an apartment of the same value. I told her I think I would be able to because in the last several months I have been following through with my own bills. She also said that at one time she wanted all the kids involved but not now. She says Beverly would be in charge of it all.
Since dinner finished I have been trying to write this and watch TV and surf the net. No big news. No messages from people I have emailed. I did hear from Mary G last night. She also recommended that I don’t send/get a gift for Patrick that there is an urgency to get Dave moved out. She also sent a joke about Math...
Now that I have the Christmas gift list updated I can probably start the shopping next week sometime. I would prefer to do it when I get my paycheck next week. I might be able to get Patti’s gift and the gift swap. I probably should start the Christmas Card list. I will think about it later.

A terrifying way to start the day
I am just heading to bed but I wanted to write about today. It started off pretty dramatic. I was waiting at the traffic light down by saw mill road and all of a sudden I heard some sirens I pulled over and as I was looking in the side view mirror I noticed many cops getting out and surrounding this car and the cops had their guns drawn. I was freaking out. I was yelling at the car in front of me to fucking move. I saw three more cop cars drive up and then flash their lights. I think one of the cops saw me freaking out. I don’t give a fuck. If the cops at the construction site could see what was going on then I wished they had directed us to move a long fast. I told just about every one I could think of at work.
I spent the day working on my stuff. I even had to stop and do the collection letters because some how I got really behind. I have to finish today’s lockbox tomorrow. Unfortunately I think I could have gotten it done if I wasn’t on line as much as I was. I need to get a lot done by the time I leave tomorrow because Shirley is returning on Wednesday.
I talked with Mom while I was at work. I called basically to tell her about the early morning drama. She told me she got the results back from her other tests. They were all good. Now she is waiting on the Hematologist. She went to Fairfield to get a gift for Jamie for his first communion. She also went to the store and she cleaned some rugs. She also got dinner ready. Her legs started hurting again and she was getting tired. She went to bed shortly around 8.
On the way home I dropped off a piece of mail at the post office. It was Yale Medical group business. Ann wanted it mailed right away. I called her when I got home to let her know.
We had dinner around 5 and I cleaned up the kitchen and continued to watch TV for a bit but I also tried to start writing up the minutes for the 4th District meeting but I just didn’t feel like it.
KevFriend emailed me to day and apologized for the delay in getting me the money. She says she will have it out this week. I told her it was okay.
I heard from Ellen today as well. She told me not to worry about the phone conversation we had last week and she suggested that the club is on its way out. I forwarded the email to Telka.
I see Dr M tomorrow. Then I have to drop off the car at the service station to get serviced (that will be done on Wednesday). Thursday is the DTC meeting. That will be very interesting. Friday is my session with Debra and then nothing that night.
