Mother's Day 2017

It is after 4:30 and I have been home a short while.   The sun is out but not for long I fear but I will explain that shortly.   My day started at the normal 5:30.   I knew the grocery delivery was supposed to come sometime between 6 and 8 and I wanted to be up in time.   I fed the kitties and then heard this Gawd awful noise that turned to be a fox!   IT was behind neighbor Sean’s car.   It came around in front of it and then headed to the marsh/swamp.   Of course my phone was nowhere near me.   I would say I shooed it away but I am not sure it did it all by itself.   I told the neighbors later on in the day and they have seen it from time to time. After that bit of excitement I went back to sleep for a while.   That’s until I could hear the Delivery truck coming around quarter of 7.   He drove all the way up to the pump station and turned around.   The backing up alarm seemed loud to me (or I was just worried someon...

Man I crashed

After Mike and Roberta got up around 9 they gathered all their belongings and we headed to IHOP for Breakfast.   We were surprised at how busy it was.   Despite or even because it was so busy we managed to get in a little after we got there.   We had placed our orders.   They got the rise and shine breakfast.   When we finished we came back home and they got the last of their stuff and we said goodbye.   It won’t be for long.   They will be back around 5 tomorrow afternoon as we are having dinner with friend’s tomorrow night.   Then on Sunday and then Monday. We meet up again on Wednesday for dinner and then later on in the week as they will be doing a few more things before leaving at the beginning of the following week for home. I decided to take a shower and then get some laundry started.   It was a bout then I crashed.   I made some calls, surfed the net, and watched TV and then decided to sleep.   The kitties did the sam...

Christmas 2016

Christmas eve Day was getting last minute things done and preparation for the Christmas Eve dinner at my Nephew and Niece’s house in Fairfield. Unfortunately as I started getting ready for the day  i found out I had no hot water.  I had so much to do but couldn’t do it until the guy came about an hour later.  Luckily he was done by the time I had to meet with my friend Nancy. I originally was supposed to go to Nancy’s house to pick up the new house keys and get instructions on the menagerie I would be taking care of at the end of the week but because of the water emergency we made arrangements to meet here..  The house was still a mess and I am not sure she was comfortable about that.  Either that I was not comfortable with it.  Anyway she had a two page instructions for each of the Animals.  There are some slightly new things for Preston such as breaking the dog treats in smaller portions because his teeth aren’t as good as they used to be. ...

What a Gorgeous Day!

The sun is shining and the temperatures are comfortable (read: have no idea but) and the windows are open.  This morning I wanted to stay in bed but again my diligent alarm clock wanted me up.  Sky and Tiger were hungry I am guessing. So I got up did our regular constitution and managed to get the babes fed.  I gave them both half a can of the new food.  Friskies this time.  the 5.5 oz can.  It was shredded something or else.  They seem to both eat it.  I gave them one can of tuna yesterday (since they had run out of food) and they both ate it.  There hasn't been any reprecusions on that front and they haven't left me massive piles of fertilizer either.  I had to clean the spot more when I discovered the last bunch.  It may be time for the rug cleaning again. I laid on the couch for a short time than got ready for church.  I went to the 8:30 mass and I was glad I did.  It puts life back into perspective for me when I need ...

I am trying to figure out who

I woke up to a mess on the rug at the bottom of the stairs.  It didn’t look like “shit” but there was a mis-shot in the bathroom downstairs.  I am not sure which of the two of them did it but I think its in response to my tax prep frustration or the late night treat.  I tried to reassure them.  I have been keeping an eye on them today.  Some reason I Found what looks like food on the counter.  THey were sleeping when I got home from church and the breakfast.  THey came out when I found them.  Eventually Sky stayed downstairs and has been splitting his time between trying to catch a fly and sleeping on the chair.  Tiger roamed around here and went back upstairs. There was a three house fire about 7 minutes from here yesterday.  I heard the fire engines around 1 yesterday.  It was on the news (obviously.) No one was hurt but lots of damage. It was caused by a candle near combustible materials.  That’s one reason I don’t hav...

I am home

I got home just around 3.  I had left Allentown after breakfast and ended up getting slightly lost in part of the town unfamiliar to me. Thanks to the damn GPS.  The same GPS had me go all the way up 78 that went to Newark NJ and I ended up in NYC by the Piers.   I was quite upset because of the time it took and the route.  I spent more money on the tolls then I wanted.  I finally got to 95 and from there headed home.  The weather wasn’t so bad.  There were some flurries when I left and few times through NJ and NY and by the time I hit Connecticut it was  sunny.   I stopped at the Chinese Restaurant up the street from home.  It was to cover lunch and dinner.  I do have some extra rice and a egg roll for supper tomorrow.  It was delicious. I am doing some laundry and then I am going to finish watching the rest of the NCIS marathon.

Happy Monday

Ah Monday what a lovely day?  It is overcast and a little windy this morning.  Commuters have to deal with the repair process in Bridgeport from Friday night’s train crash and this will take a few days according to sources. Work went well today we were happy to welcome back a coworker who had been out on leave and she looked great.  We had celebratory breakfast of treats and delights. Elsewhere on campus there was a shooting over the weekend.  It was very close to the office .    It is a way I walk from Debra’s sometimes. Graduation continued on campus.  Traffic was a bit heavy throughout the city I am told.  I have to admit I didn’t really have any problems coming home today.   Most of the activities were over by then anyway.  Memorial Day weekend is Alumni Weekend and that will be as crazy if not more.  As of right now this will be the entire schedule for the week. I may not have had a difficult driv...

Dear Debra

It is almost 8:30 at night and I should be working on the minutes from last week’s 4th District meeting but I just don’t feel like it. It has been a long day for me and I am rather tired. I woke up at my regular 5:30 and did some writing. I finally write a long over due post in my NCIS blogs. Some of it was old stuff and some stuff that probably should have remained unsaid and unwritten but it was welling up in me because of recent activity on the forums. I finished it up this evening and posted it to all three of my NCIS blogs. It was nearly 7 when I left for the bus. It was certainly warm and was glad I didn’t bring a jacket. The ride into new Haven was uneventful. I noticed I had a different bus driver than the young girl (whom I was overly fond of anyway) I usually have. The bus was full of riders today. I have no idea why. Some of the riders were people whom I have ridden with since I started up again. Some new people I probably won’t see again (at least for a while). ...

We are supposed to get snow

I should say we should be getting more snow tonight and most of tomorrow. The weather reports say most of the state is slated to get 4-6 inches. We got a dusting last night and it didn’t last long (time wise and temperature wise). The meeting went to 9 and there were ten of us there. I have minutes to write up and I can do that tomorrow during the storm. We had cake for Phil for his birthday. After the meeting Mom and I talked with AB about housing and stuff. Mom suggested that she would clean up from the meeting and that I go to bed. I don’t think it took that long fro me to go to sleep. However, I know I woke up a few times from a cough now and then. When it was time for me to get up I did and got ready for work. I had to make a call to the restaurant for the breakfast order for Cami’s breakfast and by 7 then I left after 7:30 and got to the office on time. Terry helped me set up the table and Evette helped collect money (we were really short at one point) and I know I m...

Bingo, Pie Baking, Lost Family Members

Hey everyone hope all is well. It’s been a long day here and so I won’t be on long. Last night had a great time but left my cell phone in Roberta’s car last night so I was lost with out it until this evening. I can honestly say I am now into a new card game. It’s the Military Whist Card game . It was a lot of fun and I did pretty well my first time playing. Some took it way too seriously and others were just so fun with it. There were snacks and cake and coffee during the three hour game. Needless to say I part took in that as well. Ended up not feeling well and spending time in the bathroom after the event. It was quite embarrassing. We were back home by 11 and I watched TV and shortly after midnight went to bed. This morning I stayed in bed until maybe 8. I wanted to be up early so I could get to the folk mass at St Mary’s. That was not “in the cards”. I got ready for Bingo and made a quick stop for breakfast and Dunkin Doughnuts. I had their smoked house egg and cheese sandwich...

Active Week

The last few days have been busy between work, the pie baking at Hopkins; and the retirement party Thursday I haven’t slept regularly. Mom gets concerned that I don’t get enough sleep or I get up early. Work is fine we are preparing for the visit from NEMG on Monday I spent a few hours today (Saturday) at the office working on readdress mail and getting rid of it all. Most of it was old so it got dumped. Friday was my 20th anniversary as a full time employee at Yale. It was also a pre-birthday Celebration for CD as her birthday is on Thanksgiving and we wouldn’t be there. The retirement party was wonderful Carol was truly touched and there were at least 45 people there. The food was delicious and bountiful. Carol received a beautiful necklace. Mom is okay. She is currently cooking right now and will be getting ready for 5:30 mass. She had meetings this week and got her hair cut. It really looks nice. She also attended Carol’s retirement party with me. The beginning of the week...

The Holiday Breakfast

The Holiday breakfast was very nice. It started around 8:30 and had the regular foods. We were greeted by Alita F and the management team all served us. Marianne asked me how my leg was doing I told her it was coming along and that I had decided to forgo the party that night I spoke with her. Later on in the morning we were given our annual gifts. They were sweat shirts with the YMG Logo on them. I left mine at work. I can always get it on Monday. The morning went by quickly. The mail came and went and I was finished with it all by 2. The snow started shortly after 12. It came down in fine form and became heavier by 1. By then there were many who left for the day. Many opted to leave “at the first flake”. I chose to leave by 2:30. Debra had called earlier in the day to reschedule for Monday at our regular time. I took the opportunity to read the email Liz sent to Mom. She really couldn’t comment on it as she didn’t know Liz well. She knows there is history between us and I know her (Li...

Went to Mohegan Sun today

Today Jennie and I went to Mohegan Sun for their breakfast buffet. I wanted to get up at 5 but because I woke up around 2 this morning I rolled over and stayed in bed until 6. I got showered and dressed and left by 7:05. It was dark and gray. Day break was just starting and the sun hadn’t risen yet. It was sprinkling just a bit. As I was leaving I saw Sylvia and Boppie. They were doing their morning routine. Sylvia was telling me that our neighbor Marian suffered a mild stroke and was staying in a nursing home and will be going to her daughters in West Haven. She then talked about how Marian’s insurance was running out. Soon we had to say goodbye. Sylvia had to go to work and I knew Jennie would be waiting for me. I got to Jennie’s house and went to the back door. She was playing with her kitty (can’t remember the name right now). It was really cute. We left and drove to the highway and by then the sun was coming out in between the clouds. We had no problems getting to th...
