This Weekend has Been awesome!

Friday was pretty nice weather wise.  Got into the 70’s.  Work was great.  Did some scanning the rest of the time did some refund batches.  Still have more to do will finish it on Tuesday.   WE did get a second update on the move/space expectations.  It's just stills of video presentation at the Town Hall Meeting earlier this month.  It looks like it impressed some of my readers! :)

Friday night was the DTC 4th district we had just about ten people and some didn’t show and said they were coming.  Others had said they were coming and didn’t.  Some said they were not too.   We talked about the elections coming up in NOV.  More pressingly we discussed the awards dinner next month.  Of course we had updates from the municipal boards and  committees in town.  I still have to finish the minutes before next Thursday.

I did have a little hard time getting to sleep.  I had pain in the upper chest and arm and was making it hard to breath.  However, it wasn’t indigestion.  I also don’t think it was cardio either it was the second day it was happening.  Saturday was much better and I slept better (think it had to do with taking supplements and tylenol.

Saturday was a busy morning.  It was the first Edge Challenge Class and I took that after Alex’s class.  Here is a picture of said exercises.  I was tired when I got home but did some stuff on the computer and then napped before going back to Alex.  Before I got there Alex sent me a text message letting me know someone found my old ID with the cc and my union card in it!!!! How Fucking Awesome is that????  I picked it up when I arrived and immediately put it in my card under lock and key.  Hasn’t quite made it to my wallet yet.

My session with Alex went very well.  We did talk about the week the gym will be closed.  For those wondering the gym will be closed for renovations from June 6 to the 13 and reopen on June 14. Based on Alex’s stories I am not sure all of them are thrilled by this.  Anyway he isn’t sure if he will take the week off or work at the other facilities.  I on the other hand can go for their classes at the Orange one.  Stratford, Derby and Shelton are inconvenient as is the Hamden one unless I have a class or something.

They are having some special activity at the gym tomorrow called a Murf.  i said i would come.  AT least I will be in the gym.

Saturday afternoon was fairly quiet.  Channel surfed for most of the afternoon and or did some web browsing and did end the early evening with a walk.

My Nephew Doc John posted an explanation for his year long absence from FB and the world in general.  It would seem their separation was a full on divorce.  Unfortunately as he is family he is susceptible to alcoholic tendencies.  Like the rest of the members of my family.  Mine is food.  So now he is trying to move on and be a better person.  I sent messages to my brother J (Doc John’s uncle) with the news.  He later wrote that he sent a note to John.  Happily he has gotten a lot of support from his friends, family and colleagues.  I know he will be okay.  I am sad.  He is  special guy.

This morning was beautiful.  We had an early morning shower and then sunshine for the entire rest of the day.  The clouds rolled in just about 6 tonight and they are predicting thunderstorms overnight.  It seems that changed (surprise!)  The Temperatures were in the 80’s, 90’s but now are in the Low 70’s.  It was  bit warm in here so I opened windows and turned on ceiling fans.

Around lunch time I made some lunch before taking off for the Walk with Buddy Meetup.  I had made salmon and watched TV then got dressed.  I got to the parking lot fairly early and watched some of the parade participants  get ready.  Ran into an old friend and chatted with her then met up with JS and one other who signed up earlier today.  WE headed to Downtown and walked the green.  We got to a really great spot to watch the parade.

I tried to video tape it but didn’t get much. We all agreed that there were a lot of people downtown.  I read later that others thought the attendance was awful along the beginning of the parade route.  The parade started at 2.  It finished by 2:30.  The Parades in Milford are usually not very long.  I was back home by 3:30.

When I got home the kitties seem to be doing their own thing somewhere.  So I hunkered down and watched TV.  Charmed was on until 10 tonight.  The kitties came out for Dinner around 4 I tried not to feed them until 5 but it didn’t work.  They spent the rest of the evening watching the rabbits outback and walking around and now are probably waiting for me to come to bed.

I did manage to finish and send an email to Dr. T and she wrote me back today.  She says her youngest son is visiting for nine days and has a beard.  It doesn’t sound like she likes it but I sure would like to see it.  He has always been a challenge.  I didn’t think he would get out of pre-adolescence.

I also got a very odd IM from one of my former pen pals family.  I am not sure why but she either wanted to know how she was doing or have me send things to her.   Apparently this woman used to live in Milford and is friends with a few of my DTC colleagues (she was trying to reassure me of her Identity) and is estranged from them.  Great just what I needed.

I explained to her the current situation and how I thought she was trying to get me to be her driver.  I don’ t know if we will remain in contact with each other but for now we are.

Right now though it's after 10:30 and I hear things in the other room I better check it out and then go to bed.

Veteran's Day 2018

To all those who serve in our Armed Forces past present and those will serve thank you for your service and dedication.  Today we honor those who are in the armed forces. My father, Uncles, Cousins, nephews and my friends. The armistice for the end of World War I was held at 11:11 on the 11th day of November.

Milford had their Parade at 2 pm. The group  attended the parade right after the Veteran’s Day walk that we took at 1.. I was ready and out the door by quarter of.  I have been told that the parade attendance has been lacking over the years.  I don’t know why (although the weather may have something to do with it.).  It indeed was short but very nice.

The chili was made this morning.  It was still cooking when I left as  I didn't start it at 6 like would have liked or it would have been done before I left.  I did make sure I took my time and measured everything. I have come to the realization that my crockpot isn’t 6 quarts but 4.  It was leaking all over the counter wehn I got home.  There is a small hole at the bottom of the outer shell and there were pools of the juice all over.   I do admit i understand somethings mom must have felt when she cooked over the years.  For one I am really clutter nut.  I need to get better organized than I am now.

It was sometime after 3 when I got home.  I had stopped at the store to pick up shredded cheese for the chili and some paper towels.  I didn’t have any in the house and Livia is coming tomorrow.

I had the chili and continued to watch TV for the next several hours.  The cats were in various states of agitation.  I apparently left someone in the cellar.  I don’t know if she even ate her dinner.  I know Sky did but I don’t know where he disappeared to.

I did a few odds and ends and had became tired.  I even fell asleep during Starz Encore Action channels Star Trek marathon.  As soon as I finish this I am going to bed.

Going back to work

I think I am one of many bloggers who have started their weekly blog entry with the same title.  Probably not very original but it works for me for now.

I am also probably one in a billion who will also attest to the fact that this week zoomed by quickly.  I really didn’t have a lot planned for these last several days.  I knew I had Doctor’s appointments to go to (and they worked out) and things at home I wanted to do as well.

We had a nice visit with Jim for a few days before Memorial Day weekend.  It was laid back to say the least.

I went to my great-nephew Nelson’s Day care concert in Clinton Connecticut and it was all Disney music (at least I think it was) it was about an hour long and it was very good.  The night ended with pizza with the family.

Sunday was Milford’s Memorial Day Parade and it was well attended and of course short.  I think all of our parades are short.  Some feel this is great for kids some feel it should be longer.  After the parade I went to my Sister’s for a picnic.

The picnic was great lots of food and lots of little cute kids and family members.  I stayed until about 5 and then headed home.  The rest of the night was quiet except for a nagging sore throat.

Yep that’s right I think I am getting a cold or something.  My throat has been scratchy and my nose running and I have had a few sneezing fits.  I would prefer not get sick.  I have been taking the Alka Seltzer since last night.

This week I know is going to be hectic.  The mail schedule may be all mucked up because of the holiday.  I am also probably moving into my new location/office  some time this week also.

Well the Cold Med is starting to kick in so I better get to bed...

Had a great time today

I got to the center of town just about quarter of 1 and found a place to park (precarious to boot) and watched the crowds gather on Broad Street.  I found a spot across from a law firm.  I sat next to the loveliest woman.  She was a former resident who now lives in Orange who just loves the town.  We started talking about being in the sun (it wasn’t good for either of us) and our health and that of our families.  Then it moved to our family and we discovered she knew my family.   She knew most of my aunts and uncles.  She is a local artist but only has an email.

A short time later the parade started and it was a lot of fun.  Our politicians were all there with their families.  I got to see my neighbors Shea and Shannon.  I met up with Patrick and Nancy (my god pups in town).  I met new puppy friends who were adorable.  What I am about to say may sound weird but as much as I love dogs they really don’t belong out at parades or large crowds.  I saw all sorts of them and as cute as they are and I don’t care how responsible the owners are something could go horribly wrong.  Luckily nothing of that sort happened.  I made sure I would ask the owners if I could pet them and I let them lick me…and again luckily nothing happened.

As the parade drew to a close there was a serious medical problem by a restaurant and the call for a doctor was put out.  I do know that 911 were called and a fire truck was driving by so hopefully it was resolved.

I also ran into my friends Dave and Jim.  They were caught in the traffic jam on South Broad Street.  I chatted with them for a few moments (they were not going anywhere fast).  They were heading to the Camera Store in town.  I headed back to the car and managed to hurry up and wait in the traffic as well.  I finally got out and managed to head home within fifteen or twenty minutes.

I did make some calls while waiting.  First to Mom to let her know I was heading home.  I also called M&R to coordinate meeting time for tonight.  She managed to call me back about an hour ago.

When I got home Mom was in the back organizing her recipe binders.  I told her about the woman I met and the people I saw.  I had lunch.  I decided to relax for a while

Mom went to church but had to come back because the brakes went on her car.  She just had them repaired or checked before the trip.  My mind went to two places.  1) The people who “repaired” them didn’t repair them or 2) someone fraked them while we were in PA.    Now I really hope the people we have trusted our vehicles with for years didn’t frak up because if they did I know I am going to find someone else.

I did offer to take Mom to church and back but she turned it down.  She did decide to take the car back to the garage.  So while she drove I cleared out my car enough so she wouldn’t freak and met her over there.  Now she is just hanging out and stuff.

As I mentioned I heard from R and she will be picking me up at 6:30.  I can’t put my finger on it but I am getting a weird feeling she is bothered by something.  I don’t know what yet but I will find out when she picks me up in an hour and half.

I am just going to relax for a bit and then get ready.  I am not sure what time I will be home.

Have a great night.

My Calendar is getting full

I noticed that my online calendars are not coordinated with my appointment books.  I have a lot of stuff that need to be added to both.  For Example DMarcus emailed us about two upcoming activities.  The first is the Military Whist at her Synagogue on March 9th, and then the dinner gathering at Vito’s in Newington on the 16th.

Tonight DMarcus called with updates.  She had talked with M&R and they are all set for the 9th.  So I will be riding up with them.  I still have to coordinate the time.  It starts at 7:30.  They are not how ever going to be at the Vito’s with us.  So Debbie and I discussed the possibility of me driving to her house in Wallingford and then we drive to Newington together.  It will be late by the time we get back to her house and then of course back home.

In April our group will be attending DMarcus’ Synagogue’s Anniversary Dinner and that’s on the 20th.  I will have to get a new outfit for that one.  (OMG Did I really say a new outfit?)

The woman’s Club has a lot of things coming up.  The first thing we have going is a clothing drive.   We have a place in New York that will take it for us.  I think Dr. T said something along the lines of 200 lbs of clothes for a price.

The Creative writing contest is currently going on and the winners will be awarded in May 22 at the City Hall reception we will have.

In April we have our International dinner at the Beth El Shelter.  There are new regulations too.  All the main cooking has to be done on site instead of being brought to the facility.  We have our Fashion Show at the Nursing home on the 27th of April.  I am “the transportation” squad.

We have election of officers in May.  For all intensive purposes I will remain as Secretary.  Then in the late spring early summer we have to plan for our summer activities.

The DTC has a number of activities coming up (mostly fundraisers).  We have a membership cocktail party in March (the same night as our 4th District).  I have an email to the district chairman asking about our next meeting.  We may or may not be marching in the City’s St Patrick’s Day parade.  It depends on anyone who wants to march.  It is on March 9th.  Truthfully I may not be able to march anyway.  My legs may not cooperate.  I have to prepare for that night.

We also have to prepare for our annual Awards Banquet.  That’s in June and we may be having some highly important guests.  That’s usually a fun night.

Well I think its time for me to crash.  The hands are feeling a little stiff tonight.

The Stamford Thanksgiving Parade

Today was the Stamford Thanksgiving Parade sponsored by local businesses and I believe this is the 8th year for it. It was starting at 12 noon so Dave and I left his house by quarter of 9 and we stopped at the Darien McDonalds and had breakfast. We got to Stamford by 10. The street was going to be shutdown starting at 10. So Dave and I walked around the book store Barnes and Noble and then at 10 I went to St. Johns Church which was right on the parade route for mass. Dave didn’t want to go so he walked around and then we got together after mass. We played telephone tag and apparently missed each other after the mass. We finally found each other a short time later.

We stood in the spot directly across and watched as the crowds gathered and a saw clowns, police (from various cities and towns) drive around. We even talked with other parade watchers. It was really fun. As the time came the parade started at 12 but got to see it by 12:20. There several marching bands from Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, NY towns such as Uniondale, and New Rochelle. The floats were wonderful. I can’t even begin to go through the list but it was fun. The grand marshals were Mauri Povich and his wife Connie Chung who apparently tape the shows right at the Rich forum auditorium on Atlantic Avenue. Dignitaries included Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy and Governor Jody Rell. Of course Santa Claus was there as well.

After the parade we decided to walk down to a Dunkin Doughnuts and get some hot chocolate. We were going to stop at Atlantic Pizza but the lines were long so we went there first and then walked back and got in and had dinner. After dinner we went back to the bookstore and I bought two books. They were Treasures of nursery rhymes, fairytales and poems for children. There were ones for 1 year olds, up to 6 year olds. I got one for Jason and Audrey. After we bought them we went back to the car and drove home.

It was probably 4:30 before I got home. I made a stop to the Pharmacy to get some essentials and then was home after that. All in all it was a great day.

I have gotten into my pajamas put some stuff in the laundry and did some web surfing the net and set the VCR up to tape tomorrows Regis and Kelly. Here’s hoping it works.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day. I will be getting up early and out to work early. I see Debra and then I will come home. Mom has virtually given me permission to not attend our Cousin Mary’s wake. That’s okay too because I am looking around this room and it will need to straightened up.

Well my eyes are beginning to droop so I best get this posted and get some stuff done before I can’t do anything…see you tomorrow.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
