My Weekend

This weekend was awesome!  Saturday I spent two and half hours at the gym.  I had two classes from 8-10. The first one was just a regular one with Alex and the second was Challenge class.  The trainers and instructors also had to take pictures. I tried really hard to keep up and I think I did okay. At the time I didn’t think so but I seem to be feeling it this morning.  At 12:30 I had my session with Alex. We did some review of the week and did some rope stuff and then well that’s starting to get fuzzy. Let’s just say I was really tired. I had weighed in earlier that morning and I am up to 218.  Gained one pound but he wasn’t worried he can see I am trying. I have signed up for two classes this week.

In between my trips to the gym I managed to get to the vet, ANimal shelter, and the bank all before 12.  Of course I had to go home and pick up the fecal sample for the vet and the three bags of kibble that needed to go to the animal shelter.

The fecal test cost $48.  It must have been puppy dog day because there were at least 5 or 6 puppies of different sizes, shapes and cuteness.  Tugged at my heart a little then I remembered I have enough at home.

After that I went to the Animal Shelter and for some reason Google sent me via Boston Post Road to 95 and get off at Saw Mill Road.  I drove past the street and had to do a complete turn around and when I saw the street and found it. It is literally around the corner from the Public works department.  I went in to the building with one bag and someone came and helped me with the other two. I was able to get to see some cute kittens and I met Sally who was a real talker.

Later on in the afternoon I got ready for my ride up to Hartford.  The ride was much like my trip last month but because the weather was nicer I could see more than I did that night.  I was early and I parked in a lot by the Russian Lady and the service entry of xL center. I had gotten texts from Antoinette who by then had said she was at the restaurant with ehr sons.  I walked to the restaurant the long way *read* got a little lost. But found it and waited for her a couple of her friends and Marisol who really got lost.

After eating some really great food and having great talks we walked to Antoinette's car and dropped stuff there and then headed to the XL Center.  We got our tickets. I was in a different section then Antoinette, Mari, and Nina (who joined us there). I was originally supposed to be closer to the ice but I thought I was still sitting in different seats.  Graciously with others who were nice to talk to and patient with my questions.

The game was okay.  Wolfpack suck at the game.  There were a few questionable activities that I didn’t particularly care for especially with the volume of kids there.  At one point a woman *not sure who she was* was sitting on the Zamboni and showed off her chest. HELLO???? Then of course in the the teams fighting each other near the end.  To be clear about the woman thing I wasn’t the only who questioned it. When the game ended we walked to our cars and said goodbye to each other (I drove Mari and Nina to Mari’s car for safety) and headed home.

I was home by 10:30.  In bed a short time later.  Exhausted.

Sunday I was able to sleep in a little.  The early morning Milford Challenge walk was moved to 11 and so I managed to get more sleep and then dash to the other side of town.  I was the first to arrive and found a Green Heron on the fence in the marsh. I managed to take a picture of it and my cousin tells me its a Green Heron.  When JS arrived she brought Dash and Buddy with us and we had a great time. We walked 1.7 miles. My walking app to work so JS sent me a copy of hers.

The rest of the day I did the laundry that I left the day before. I watched everything but what was going to be on (the Super bowl).  I went to bed sometime around 8. I was so tired and the dinner I had didn’t help. (Wings and ribs from Adams).

Over all the weekend was pretty cool.  Hope to have more like that and I believe I will be very soon.

Busy Weekend

I am glad last night was a fairly quiet night.  I did some laundry and had dinner and watched TV for a while.  I didn’t get on the computer much.  I was getting tired.

I did get an invitation to the Municipal Inauguration next Tuesday at Parson’s complex.  Its early but it lasts two hours.  Everyone who was elected to boards and commissions and offices of Mayor and CIty Clerk will be sworn in.  I have gone every year since our Mayor was elected.

I also got two phone calls.  One was from the woman who ordered five tickets and reserved a table for the AUction tomorrow night.  She wanted to give me her phone number.  She was flighty.  As of our conversation she didn’t receive the tickets.  I mailed them out Sunday.  I told her to call me if she didn’t get them.

The other call was from the Cardiologist’s office they needed to change the appointment in December to January 2 (the day we come back to work).  I believe it's 2 in the afternoon.  Will have to call them and confirm.

So why is it a busy weekend?  For me we are setting up tonight and tomorrow for the Ladies Guild Auction and Dinner.  YOu have read it's our biggest fundraiser of the year.  I need to get money to do the raffles!  It starts at 6:30 tomorrow night and it should be fun.  I think I will wear the purple pantsuit I just got out of the cleaners.

In New Haven the city and the University is preparing for the biggest sports event of the year.  The annual Yale VS Harvard game is tomorrow afternoon.  It's been featured on at least one news station (the only one I watch) and it's been bantered about around at work.  Handsome Dan 18 will be there too.  He is the 1 year 48 lb Mascot for Yale.  It certainly will tie up traffic around the Bowl not sure if downtown will be affected by this or not.  Maybe for those who come in from out of town.  What I mean by that is if they go to the local businesses during the weekend.  I just hope the rain that’s before predicted holds off.

Sunday morning will be grocery shopping and some letter writing before going off to Bingo and perhaps go to church.  Then of course it's getting ready to go back work.

Snow?

Last night before I went to bed I checked the weather report for today.  Do you know they were saying it was going to snow last night?  IT didn’t.  I checked a few times.  Now granted it could have from the time I actually fell asleep but I didn’t when I woke up during the night.  There was no snow on the ground when I got up this morning in fact the sun was shining.  I did get to watch an interesting video on why it's so quiet after it snows.  Very interesting (it is sound proofing material and as it melts it lessens). Anyway there is no snow in the forecast for this weekend only clouds and cold winds.

Today is my hair appointment.  I think it includes the touch up to the haircolor.  I am not sure if it is also the trim.  I am not sure if I could have cancelled it to go to the UConn game.

What you ask?  Last week Dr. T asked me to go with her and her family to the UConn final game.  She really wanted me to change my plans because they were going to see the pre-game activities.  It's also their last game of the season.  I just couldn’t see me changing it for that.

We will be meeting up later this afternoon for the Birdhouse project and dinner.  I am supposed to bring ice cream.  I don’t know how much building I will be doing but I am going to try.

The rest of the day will be laundry and the bookkeeping and letter writing.

I don't think I want...

After hearing about a cyber-attack today on some sites I frequent (Okay so one) I am not so sure I want to go to those sites tonight.  After I heard Anchorman (do the still call them Anchorpersons?) David Muir open the newscast with the Cyber-attack report I got online to read more about it.  Apparently someone hacked into the company DYN and disrupted many sites.  They are not sure who is behind it.  There are some theories but I didn’t hear them.  I had checked my Bank account on the office Computer even though I brought the laptop.   It wasn’t charging today so I had to wait until I got home to use it.  However I went to a few sites on break.  I have to wonder if it will effect work computer.

Work was very busy.  I split my time between the refund checks and the mail.  The mail I didn’t finish yesterday and the mail that came today and all the refund checks that came to me both in personal and insurance refunds.  Most if not all have been documented but I had to stop and think of what needed to be done (don’t we all at one point or another?).  I talked it over with the Supervisor and he suggested that I go with the dates that are earlier (I think I had the14th and 19th in personal and I had the 18th but put them back.  My GA had today off so she couldn’t finish the one pile that had to be labeled and mailed.

We had a short Staff meeting today. We had been given a list of our new team leads and was told there was no overtime available.  Well I never did have OT or I would have been there doing it.  But there isn’t always a lot of mail to do and probably the refund checks which get done anyway.  The others are going to be getting lists of their credit balances and they didn’t seem happy about it.

I was anxious to get out of the office today that I left my cell phone in my desk.  I feel so hollow without it.  I called my sister on the house and had to leave a message and I called Jim too because I heard bad weather has hit PA.  I am wondering if we are going to get it up here tonight.

I found out last night that Yale bowl got new lights and The Bulldogs will be playing their very first Friday night game.  It will eventually air on MSNBC sports channel.  Actually all their games are going to be aired from now on.   It will make traffic around the bowl hectic according to the news reports.  It is also Employee night for the game.

I slept in the sofa recliner last night and guess who slept beside me?  Nope not sky but my little Princess Tiger Lilly and she is beside me tonight as well.  Sky was lying on the back of the sofa for a few hours last night and I am hoping he will do the same tonight.  He has been upstairs most of this evening, and when was down here he seemed to be crying a lot.  Not sure what that’s about but I also think Tiger has been doing the same thing.  I gave them fresh kibble already but need to clean their box out again and the bathroom.

I was quite surprised at how humid it was this morning. There was a light misting rain until I got to work. The sun came out for part of the day and by the time I left the office clouds rolled in and a short time later it the misting rain returned.  By the time I got home the streets were completely wet and a few puddles had developed.  Now its just foggy and overnight we are supposed to get more rain.  I am wondering just how much rain we will get tomorrow.  I do have to be at my niece and nephew’s house for their son’s 7th birthday party.  It will be late in the day so I probably won’t be having dinner tomorrow night or if I do it will be light.

I got a couple of emails from Mama R today.  The first one was a forward about a Smithsonian article on cats.  Honestly I didn’t read it all because I was at work.  The second one was later on this evening responding to my question of their return to NC.  They did late Tuesday early Wednesday.  They had to wait for their suitcase quite a long time.  Something I think would happen here these days.  The email was fairly long.  I told her about Yale having their first night game and the accident that occurred today and the holidays.

Now that the lights are out and the kitties are not playing with their water bowl for the millionth time I think I am going to bed.

WE got snow

This was the view from my back door tonight.  It started around 3 and stopped around an hour ago.  There is more predicted for the early morning commute which is a relief because I don't have to go to work tomorrow.  If the snow continues all day then I am not leaving the house.  If it does I can do some errands.

Bingo went well we had almost a full house.  Bob was there and as usual exhausted.  I don't know if that man ever gets any rest.  At least he says he has tomorrow off.

I made lamb chops and vegetables for dinner tonight.  I cooked four chops and they will be eaten through out the week.   I may even try some other stuff.

After talking with Jim via Messenger I watched the last 45 minutes of the broncos vs Steelers game.  I have no idea how they decide the scoring but it was close at one point then Broncos pulled ahead.  Now they play Patriots next Sunday.

I heard from Kris tonight.  He thanked me for the Christmas card and ITunes I got him.  I showed him the snow and told him about the football game.  He is a big Pittsburg fan but likes the broncos.

I got a letter from Linda in WV today.  It must have come earlier this week.  There was postage date or whatever you call it so I don't know how long its been at the post office.  I will be writing her tomorrow if I can.

Super Bow Sunday

Well Hello  Sports Fans!  I hope you are all having a great day and getting ready for tonight’s game.  Whom ever your favorite is I hope they win.  I will be watching the NCIS Marathon.  Be sure to look out for the Smilow cancer Center Ad and tell me what you thought of it.  Mom tells me everyone she knows is talking about it .

As you may remember it was 5 this morning the last time I was on line.  I did fall back to sleep and managed to get up for the day by 8:30.  I was showered and dressed by 9 and checking out some stuff online before going.  Mom was already downstairs having her coffee and reading the paper.

As I was leaving I saw my Neighbor Darcy.  She is on a new schedule at work so now she is able to do things differently.  She is doing quite well and is expecting her family to come up for part of the Easter Holiday.  I had to rush to the gas station and to Bingo because I was late.

“A” was there as the Recreation Liaison today.  She was looking much better than I saw her last week.  She is on her medication and making sure she is eating when she is supposed to.  Young Matt wasn’t there today but that’s okay because I don’t think I had more than ten resident’s playing.  We had a late start but finished by 11:30.

Before leaving for home I went t o see the few remaining picket line workers.  They were getting ready to go home for the day.  They  got the final judgment from the judge and they won.  They don’t have a return date yet but they are all very happy.

The snow has all but melted away and it is a little warmer but not by much.  The weather report calls for more snow later on but even Mom thinks it won’t be much.  I haven’t made plans to go out again for the rest of the day.

When I got home Mom was in our office.  She was doing some paper work I guess. Now she is working on our dinner.    Lamb Osso Buco For Two .  I am going to find it and post it here.  She also has some laundry going and when she is done with that I will get e rest of mine done.

I had something I haven’t had in a while.  I had an egg salad sandwich.  It was good.  But not enough for me..  However I am not going to give into the need to feed more ,  I can and will have to wait until may be six (the recipe as you can see is three and half hours all together.)

Well If I am going to get my laundry done I think its time I get it into the machines.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

It is three hours and fifteen minutes before game time. There are supposedly a number of pre-game shows on that would make most sports enthusiasts slobber over the tube. Not me. I have been doing nothing really. I had left over shrimp and rice from the Dominoes game dinner we had last night. I watched TV for a short time the rest I have been sleeping.

This morning I went to bingo and despite the behavior of one resident I had a good time. I was able to start on time and finish on time but still went to church late. The reason I was late is partly because I went and chatted with the workers picketing outside.

We had a great time playing Mexican Train last night. DebbieM was the first to arrive then D&D from WH. Followed by M&R who were a little late but at least they got there. We ordered dinner and started playing the food arrived and we ate and talked about everything. Once we finished dinner we continued playing until 10. We still have to schedule the next night out. It was suggested that instead of playing we have dinner only.

I will be babysitting Junior in Mid March and again in May. R&M are going to North Carolina and Las Vegas. It will be good to see Junior I miss her.

I just got the shock of my life! I received an email alert that Brother B finally accepted my Facebook Friend Request. I don’t even remember how long ago I did it. He is definitely too funny. He also lived longer than Dad. We lost Dad 21 years ago at the age of 62.

I have been trying to find blog entries from Indiana mentioning activities going on in their state for the Super bowl. I haven’t seen any-yet.

I like to see blogs that write about their daily lives (not list links to various stuff) and definitely not just pictures alone. I realize people will write about their views on certain things about certain subjects but I want to know about everything-if I can’t be able to visit your town or state tell me about it. I would like to do the same for you.

It continues to be

It continues to be a sad week for the World of UCONN Huskies. Memorial Services and Days of Reflections will be held all week for the murdered UCONN Husky play Jasper Howard. His family came to the campus yesterday to participate and to thank those who tried to save his life.

In other work related/College related news Russell Clark the Lab Tech who is suspected of killing Grad student Annie Le is expected to plead not guilty. There is some ruling coming down about sealed documents. I am trying to read the articles as I write this but it is not working.

Work is getting better. I just have a ton of readdress mail to deal with and I hope to get that done. We found out that Tevis and Bob lost their grandmother yesterday. According to Tevis’ facebook they really miss her. We as a team are supposed to be doing something but not sure when.

Progress is being made for our annual holiday party. We have picked our secret Santa and this year I will be Annette C’s secret Santa. I am not sure who mine will be this year but we are scheduled to have our party on the 18th I think. There is also an after work party at Sages. That is the restaurant the family had Mothers Day dinner last year.

On the political front things are hopping. Tomorrow night is City Clerk Alan Jepson’s retirement party at the Yacht Club. It was by invitation only. Mom was supposed to go but because she isn’t feeling well I have invited Roberta but haven’t heard back from her.

The municipal campaigns are winding down to a close. The final fundraiser and campaign party for 2009 is on October 30, 2009 at Stonebridge. It will be $25 and light fare. Of course the final events are Election Day and Election night. I have been thinking about this for a short time. This year I haven’t really done much for the campaign. I have been to a few fundraisers and helped out for our meet and greet but other than that I haven’t really done much.

The 4th District is going to be held Friday instead of Thursday because of the retirement party. I need to get the minutes done for that. I hope I have time before the party or afterwards.

Oh I am getting tired. I have had a touch of a headache on and off today. I think I better get to bed….

Superbowl Sunday

It is Superbowl Sunday. Most important day of the year for sports fans, advertisers, network(S), players etc. There were pregame activities all day and from what I read the city of Pittsburgh had pep rallies through out the weekend. I wish I could say I am interested but if you read this blog long enough or knew me at all you would know I am not interested. I was watching other things or on line with the emails and websites

I didn’t write at all yesterday because I didn’t feel like it. On top of that things are still unsettling as far as Jim is concerned. He was supposed to contact Liz for a ticket to Florida so he could get into a facility to get him some help with his health crisis. Mom has been worried and made calls and talked with Liz and inadvertently hurt her feelings for telling her she should have stayed with Jim until he got on the plane. He never did and didn’t answer any of his phones and so Liz called the police and when it was done Jim disowned her. Apparently he was with the kids. Mom has been trying to let her know that Mom has been grateful.

Mom is talking with Liz right now and telling her that she talked with our Bob (my older brother). He did talk with Mr. B and I am not sure what he feels but Mom is disappointed in the Bob B because he left Jim alone for two days and never returned her call yesterday.

It really is a big mess right now and Mom is so incredibly worried and frightened. I am probably not getting all the facts right but if you were here you would know.

Don Imus is gone

It is after 6 am in the morning. I am listening to the report about Don Imus’ firing. It happened yesterday by CBS after this past week where he made those very ignorant and inflammatory remarks about Rutgers woman’s Basketball when they won the basketball tourney. MSNBC decided to not continue to air the simulcast of his radio show. Imus did meet with the team yesterday and apologized. The Governor of NJ was supposed to be there but was in an accident on the way to the meeting. He was in emergency surgery as of last night. A pick up truck hit him after trying to avoid another pick up truck.

I am usually NOT very worried about today’s date. I can’t think of the word that it is called but I do know a few people are at work. Today is going to be a good day for me. I will be able to work on a lot of stuff that has been accumulating. I do know that I ordered a lot of charts and I am hoping they all are not going to be delivered. It is my short day today.

Well it is almost 10 pm and I am heading to bed. This day was really busy and incredibly long. I always get the feeling of leaving something behind or undone when I leave on Fridays. I know I can’t always finish everything on Fridays but it would be nice if I could.

One of the collectors had ordered a Medical Record for today and I delivered it to her. Later on in the day I found it in the mail tray to be taken back to the office. I looked at it briefly and asked who did this? The girl admitted she did. I told “Oh you can’t do that!” I went on to explain that when she finished with it she is supposed to bring it down to my office and check it off. She got annoyed. I later came to check on another chart that wasn’t returned yet. I apologized for jumping down her throat. She point blank said yes you did. I really wanted to tell her to take a leap out the window but I couldn’t.

I mean really these people know or should know they don’t leave freaking Medical Records out like that. Especially with all the HiPAA problems we have had recently. I had already given a heads up to the supervisor.

I had my session with Debra today. I was really agitated. I went through the entire week. The funeral, the crap with the Woman’s Club, you might want to read this to see what I mean, the way I have been feeling lately. The concern I had for Mom going to bed almost every night before 8:15. Once I let it out I felt better.

After the session I headed back to the car and on my way home. The Drive wasn’t bad at all. The only concern I had was the engine light was on. I need to call the garage and have them look at it. I probably will need to get the oil change since it is time.

The rest of the night we had leftovers for dinner, and a visit from Cousin Donna and her husband who are leaving for a 15 day trip to North Carolina. They are looking at property down there. They have plans to move down there in late September. They stayed for about half hour.

The rest of the weekend should be interesting. Tomorrow will be the normal morning activities of cleaning. In the afternoon I am meeting with Tessa and Mike to go over the website for the DTC to learn about it so I can use it in the future. I don’t exactly what Mom will be doing.

Sunday we should be in the midst of a Nor Easter. We are supposed to get lots of rain, and coastal and inland flooding from rivers and streams. I am supposed to go to bingo but I am not sure if I want to be out in all that rain. I will have to see how it goes Sunday. Mom has been invited to a celebration in Wallingford for my cousin Judy. She is a dance instructor and puts on these wonderful performances (like the ones I was in growing up) every year. Now her daughter is taking over the business.

All in all despite the weather it will be a busy weekend. Well it is getting late. I will see you tomorrow.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
