I have a cold

After spending nearly 4 hours at work and it was suggested by a co-worker to go home.  I called the Dr.  and got an appointment for 1 pm.  I picked up my lunch from downstairs and headed out into the snow.  I drove to the Dr.'s in pretty good time.  I got in and had my vitals taken.  Then their system had gone down apparently parts of Milford had lost power a few times this morning.  I first heard about from Liz  when I woke her up this morning.  I think I was out of the Drs. office by 1:30 and stopped by the pharmacy.  I had to wait about 15 minutes for the prescription of Z-pak and the nasal crap.  While I waited I had my lunch.  It was good and messy.  I have to wash my scarf later.  Anyway.  I won't be going to work for a day or two.  i called my supervisors and lead and explained to them.

I think it was nearly 2:30 quarter of 3 when I got home.  I was surprised to find mail in the mailbox considering this was a federal holiday.  What the hey?  I received a fellow Linden Hall Alumnus' flyer for the alumna weekend so I am going to mail it out to her with a little note.  I hope that won't be a burden to anyone.

I made some phone calls, made some hot cocoa and took the first of the z-pak and watched TV for awhile.  The kitties did their own thing.  Sky kept meowing to go downstairs and I let him go a couple of times.  He eventually stopped meowing and came upstairs to sleep.  I also joined him.  I also was looking for tiger who was sitting on the heater vent that's on the floor.  Then she came up to sit with me and under the blanket.  Sky just jumped on the bed (and on Tiger) again and is sitting in his spot again.  Now Tiger is gone probably under the bed.

I may work on some writing but I doubt it I am getting tired again.

Be safe out there...its supposed to get really messy tonight.

Man it was cold today

It was so cold and windy today.  It was like that when I left work today and i even saw some snow flakes while at the Christmas tree shop.  According to the weather report there is a Winter weather advisory for the East coast as there is some big storm coming up.  I don’t know what to expect tomorrow whether it will be snow or rain (most likely it will be rain).  I have a feeling my northern friends will get snow (and they love that stuff :)).  I am going to climb under the covers soon to get warm.

Work went pretty well.  The mail volume was fairly normal for Monday and it allowed me to work on the re-address mail/authorization priorities.  I still believe I am making progress.

Security Guard Mike returned from Paternity Leave and he was beaming with pride.  I gave him a congratulatory hug and he told me about the baby.  He also was showing pictures like a proud papa.  It was great.

As I mentioned earlier I went to Christmas tree shop for “stuff”. You would think one would find boxed Christmas cards with the seasonal Christmas stuff right?  Not there.  They had it with the toys.  I was about ready to give up and by the stuff I did have.  (a few birthday cards, a gift bag, and um TastyKakes cupcakes.)  That is until the cashier showed me.  I was gracious but when I got back online I told her what I thought about the cards being with the toys.

After I was finished there I headed to the next card shop because I still need a few more boxes of thank you notes (you thought I was going to say Christmas cards didn’t ya?) and regular thank you cards for the office and for Neighbor Don.  I also got holiday jelly beans and a few more birthday cards.  My final destination before going home was the restaurant.

I got a gift certificate at Scribners and then headed home.  AFter I got home I had signed the card and brought it over.  We chatted for a bit.  Apparently both Don and Pam have had been fighting a really bad viral infection.  They have been on antibiotics but it was tough.

When I got back inside I got dinner ready and organized all the bags to bring upstairs.  For dinner I made scrambled eggs with vegetables.  It was good but needs more work.

I also brought the clothes that were dried upstairs.  I was going to do thank you notes but my hands are hurting a little.  I can feel it while typing.

I noticed that I can now post on live journal from the laptop.  I guess my reporting problems worked.  It was getting tedious going to Mom’s computer.

Well I am heading to bed...I probably will be going back to work after my Dr. appointment tomorrow.

Dear Mom 10/20/2014

Dear Mom,

It was a chilly and frosty morning and it didn’t    get any warmer than 60 today.  The rest of the week promises rain.

I had every intention of getting up at 5:30 this morning but after getting an early morning text message from Jim at 4 in the morning I saw no reason to get up that early.  I stayed in bed until 6.  I did get ready for work and was out the door a little after 7.  The things I had planned on doing can wait until I get home.

Work was good.  Mail volume was late and light.  It allowed me to work on the re-address mail for most of it.  We had an in-house retirement party for Gloria O.  Her dinner is next week.

I sent out the reminder yesterday for the 4th District this week.  We are having it at the Headquarters and so far its been six responses-out of twenty-five.

It looks like I will be heading to PA for Thanksgiving.  Although Jim is going to check with Ethel and see what she is doing.

I was looking at one of the mass cards I don’t recognize the name of the person and I don’t see a matching envelope.  Its frustrating because I was going to write out a thank you note.  Now that I was frustrated I didn’t get any done.

The computer (both the laptop and the other one were giving me a hard time and I could tell I was getting tired.  Things were slowing down or not moving.  There isn’t anything on the laptop except some of your files.

I am going to try and sleep but I don’t think its going to work.

Dear Friends

November 16, 2013

Dear Friends:

Another Saturday is almost gone.  I slept late because of taking the Alka-Seltzer Cold med last night.  I went to check on the  cat and fed it and stayed with it for a short time.  I might go back this afternoon if they haven’t come home yet.

I made amends with Mom although she is still piss-assed mad at me. She is getting ready for a wedding this afternoon it is at 4.  I offered to give her a ride but she declined.  She says it will be light still.  I also pointed out that if it goes later it will be dark.  I still say she is taking too many risks.

The rest of my work day went well.  I got much done and got home and got ready for the dinner.  It was great.  My meal came out late but I ate most of it and shared it with Evette.  I was pretty full by then.  I got to see some old friends that I worked with and they looked great.

It was nearly 9 when I got home and Mom was in bed.  My entire body was achy because of the foods I had through out the day.  My feet were very comfortable since I had the moccasins on.  Very comfortable and I can see them becoming my new favorite shoes…

I finally got the gumption to change the seasonal wardrobes.  I have a pile of clothes I am putting away and will be taking out others in a short time.  This may allow me to get more clothes soon

I talked with Jim today.  I think I may have hurt his feelings when I called for Mom.  I didn’t want him to miss talking with her but we were also talking.  I don’t think he has an email that works.  So I am going to jot off a note to him.  We talked about union stuff and his views on it (like stuff that’s going on at work).  For example our union uses areas on campus for meetings.  He doesn’t think that’s really a good idea and that we should do it off site (I tried to explain to him that the University owns most if not all of the city.)

I forwarded a couple of cute jokes to family and friends in the last couple of days and I managed to get replies from 2 family members (Liz, and Cousin Frank) and of course Dave.  Each of them sent a message to me.  Liz was wondering who Katherine was and I explained it to her and Frank wants me to come up with more jokes (I am really not that good) and Dave tells me he landed in LV and is about to do a half marathon.

Well I have about an hours worth of daylight left to go and get the tubs from upstairs.  I don’t like going up at ngiht.  So I am going to close out for now.

See you later.

Something Weird

I got a message sometime today from My cousin Jeremy through twitter saying someone posted a nasty blog about me.  I signed out to twitter saw the message and tried to access the link but was knocked out of twitter and had to confirm the log on.  So I went to the facebook and sent a message to Jeremy asking if he sent me one through twitter.  I don’t feel comfortable clicking on the link if screws this up.  This being the computer.  I tried doing a search but couldn’t find anything under any of my usernames to the sites.

I heard from Jeremy and he says yes he has one but doesn’t use it.  So I told him it might have been hacked.  A few seconds later he sent me another one saying it was hacked.  I am really glad that i checked it out.

I got to the nursing home after 9:30.  I kept procrastinating this morning from getting up and doing some chores, to getting ready for bingo.  Somehow I managed to start bingo on time and finish on time.  However, I didn’t leave the facility on time.  I cleaned up from Bingo and chatted with Claudia.  I was late for mass.

When I miss the readings sometimes I try and read the readings of the day.  Sometimes its better to see from the homily what was being said but It also helps me to get back into reading the bible.  I go through periods in which I try to read and then even longer periods where I don’t.

The weather changed for part of the day.  it was sunny for most of the morning and early afternoon and then at some point the clouds rolled in.  It is in the mid 70’s and I think humid. I put the ceiling fan because it got stuffy in the room.  WHen i got back from the meeting it was sprinkling for a very short time.

Mom  got back from a wake for the parent of a Bridges Colleague around 6.  She left a little after 4 when she got back from the store. I was getting concerned because I didn’t know what we were going to do about dinner.  She made me a fish filet sandwich.

I was late for the meeting so I quickly sat down and started writing.  We discussed the budget, the summer activities and the fall activities, and of course the officers responsibilities and duties.  I did sign up for hosting a couple of meetings in the winter/spring time for 2014.

Now that I am home for the night its time for me to take the Alka-seltzer plus med because I am still fighting something.  My throat was irritated earlier today and now the sniffles.

For the first day of Spring

It was pretty cold for the first day of spring.  Then again it usually is.  I was reading last year’s entries and it was just getting into the sixties by Palm Sunday and Easter.  Actually I think there was a flood warning going on at the time.

I was pretty busy with work today.  I got a lot done and was able to stay until after 6.  I was in the middle of something and wanted to stay with it until it was done.

I was late for dinner but luckily the traffic didn’t slow me down.  It was quarter of seven when I got home and put out the garbage.  Mom was watching TV when I finally came in.

We had pork and rice for dinner.  It was good and satisfying.  Mom didn’t go out at all today except for a few errands and the rest of the time she was inside.

I asked Mom about the plans for Easter and she hasn’t come up with anything definite yet.  She forgot to ask Liz about her plans which I am pretty sure (97%) they will be either of their kids house for dinner. She says she will call Ethel also to see what she wants to do.  I came away with the feeling that it will be here because Mom feels that Ethel will be too tired of cooking all week to cook Easter dinner. That’s the week JH is coming home.

After dinner I did some chores and watched TV until 10.  Now I am going to bed.  Mom went a little bit ago (to read actually).

Tomorrow I will be working until 6 and then head home to get ready for the DTC cocktail party.  It is at Bridgehouse in Devon this year.

Well Good night hope you had a great day today.

No Snow yet

The snow has not arrived yet but  from the looks of the sky I will say it will be very soon.  Once I finish my morning activities I will be home for the rest of the day.  I should be back here by 12:30.

My plans are quite simple laundry, watching NCIS marathon, and finishing up the three Thank you notes I have left to do.  I do have to make phone squad messages and that I can do later.

I got a text message from Jim last night.  He loves the DVD of NCIS that Mom gave him for Christmas.   He offered to re-gift it to me and he would get a new one for himself.  I sent back that’s very sweet but don’t have to.  The next time I come for a visit we can have a marathon.  I personally don’t like re-gifting per se.  I think its awful and really rude.  I don’t mind if its food but if it is an actual gift I do mind.

Mom is already downstairs having coffee and reading her paper.  We nearly collided in the hallway.  I got first dibs on the bathroom.  She had to go downstairs and use the one in the kitchen.  She does that frequently when I am in the bathroom.

Well its getting late and I need to move along..

What a night

I had a hard time getting to sleep again.  The coughing finally subsided  by 1 and a short time later I was sleeping.  I really thought the cough was subsiding when I wrote last night but I was wrong.  I am thinking it could be some form of asthma.

As a result of the late sleep I slept in until 6:30.  I folded some clothes and forgot the others.  I got ready for work and Mom critiqued my blouse (that I ironed). She noticed I wasn’t liking it.  Damn Straight.  You might want to work on your delivery.

I got to work before 8.  The ride in was okay.  No real traffic problems.  I chatted with JanetN.  Then hopped on the rest of yesterday's return mail.  There was well over 230 pieces yesterday.  I am hoping that won’t be the case today.  So far the mail volume is okay and the count is: 248 (yeah that was probably TMI).

I checked my-time reports and found out that I had not requested the 21st off for my eye appointment.  I did that this morning and it almost was not approved.  JudyF tells me that too many people have it off and she couldn’t approve anymore   When she heard it was just for  couple of hours it was fine.

I am still getting spammed in older blog entries.  Listen folks.  Please don’t try and sell me stuff.  I don’t need or want it.    All that will happen is you will get deleted and perhaps banned from the site.

I tried to call the phone company to cancel my home phone service and I was on the phone six minutes and waiting.  I will try at lunch time.

I better go.  I have the mail to open and not enough room on my desk.

Here we go again

While I was waiting for my turn for the INR I heard the talk of a Nor’easter coming next week. Happily it won’t be happening until the middle or end of the week.  It has turned cloudy in the last couple of hours though.  It is supposed to be partly cloudy for the night.  The temperatures are supposed to drop to the 40’s next week and then boom the storm.  I think this Nor’easter is supposed to last for two days (is that even possible?).

I have gotten the laundry going.  Two loads in two washing machines and one wating to go in once one of the others gets into the dryer.  I hope to have it finished by dinner time.

I have been trying to call the nursing home to let them know I won’t be going to do bingo on Sunday. Unfortunately all I get is busy signal.  I did post a message to the girls club Facebook page asking for help and to call me.  So far only five people have read it but have not called yet.  I did manage to friend two of the new members and they accepted.

Mom ordered the Bose radio on Neighbor Don’s recommendation and she isn’t finding it to be helping her hearing at all.  She didn’t have it on long enough but she plans on putting in another room.   I don’t see how that’s going to help.  She is disappointed though.

Mom went to see SIL but she wasn’t home.  She also called her but no answer.  So now she is working on budgetary stuff.  She will have dinner herself later I just had mine while she was out.

I heard from Jim today.  He still has no power and won’t for at least a week.  He is also entertaining the thought of getting a kitten.  This should be interesting.  He also asked about the teeth and about our cousins.

We also heard from DLH (Rita’s Daughter) and they are back in North Carolina.  They are safe and they were checking in on us.  She called Liz earlier today but didn’t connect because Liz was on the phone.

I sent out an email to the cousins but one bounced back to me.  I am not expecting responses very soon.  I am going to see if I can read local blogs from the areas that at least three of them live in.

In the mean time I am going to enjoy my Friday night and get in to my pajamas and relax for a while…see you later.

This cold seems to come in waves

What I mean by that is I woke up and was able to breathe okay with a few coughs. After a while the nose is half stuffed and a few coughs continue. I tried the saline solution. Mom had an extra one and I am not sure if I did it right but my nose seems to be clear.

Mom has been doing various things. She has been doing paper work and doing some cooking and later on attending the Martin Luther King service at the City Hall.

We are going to have dinner later. There is left over cream chicken and Mom suggested I put it over toast. It sounds good. I am not sure what Mom’s going to have but she is making stuffed mushrooms. She says she is also making something else as well.

I got a call from DM around 4 didn’t hear the phone at all. Of course I was downstairs during that time. I also didn’t notice it flashing when I came up a few times before I finally answered. She called back again after 7 but I was eating. I had just taken my Nyquil and really wanted to go to bed.

That being said hitting the sack now…

I am fighting a cold

For the last two days I have been fighting a cold. Actually I think all week I have been fighting a cold. Almost every day I have come to work with a runny nose. It went full blown yesterday with the nose bleeds and full on runny nose. The throat started hurting and I have felt miserable. My intention this three-day weekend is to get as much sleep as possible. I am not sure Mom is keen on that idea but hey it’s my weekend so there!

Work for the last two days has been hectic. In between the nose bleeds and the nose wiping I managed to get the mail opened and delivered. I still have a lot of the readdress mail and the return mail/postage tallies to do. I caught up with the lobby mail (except for today’s-I can do that Tuesday).

We said goodbye to a couple of co-workers as they moved on to other departments. KG who had only been in AR/Patient SVCS a short time is moving on to Reimbursement. TD who has in Reimbursement for 9 years is moving over to Surgery department. Cami is leaving next week for Registration over at another location.

Happily I slept until 10 this morning. Actually getting up for the bathroom earlier doesn’t count but not really caring. Yesterday I slept until 10 of 7 and had to run around crazy for work.

I am not sure what I am doing for bingo tomorrow. It all depends on how I feel this afternoon and tomorrow.

Another Party

I have been awake since 6:30 in the morning on a chilly dark Saturday. The sun came up at point but missed it. Probably because it became overcast and it wasn’t going to change much.

I want to get this room done and get the Christmas cards either done or mostly done by the middle of the week. I have the Gift Delivery this afternoon and I still need to go to the bank before I do. Then there is the party at Black Stallion restaurant.

I just paid the Car Insurance and will get that out in my travels today. I will also have the cards out as well. Trying to figure out whom to send the cards to first is still a troublesome act for me.

Well I figured out what to get the little ones and the older ones…..everyone over the age of 7 in the Rivera/Morgan Clan will be getting money. The ones under seven will be getting gift cards.

The gift delivery went off okay despite the fact the carts were not ready for us. PJ didn’t know about those. What the hell did you all think we would use? That gave me a head ache but it went off okay. Twice I gave a gift to someone and someone else gave the same people a gift. That’s really a waste of time but there seemed to be more residents then gifts. I took a few moments to talk with the strikers afterwards they asked me to make sure “Grandma” gets to bingo. I told them I would bring some coffee to them tomorrow.

When I got home I didn’t do very much I think it was nearly three. I hung out watching TV for the afternoon until it was time to get ready. I wore the pin stripe suite with the sleeveless green blouse. For accessories I had two rings on each hand, a nice necklace and a squirt of perfume. Black shoes (I really think they were dark blue but did the job fine)

I left just after 5:30 and got there by 6. It was far too early for me to be there. Gayle was supposed to come just about then or so I understood but she didn’t until closer to seven. I spent the time having some coffee and salad and talking with the waitress. It would seem the owner is not a pleasant man and his been running off his staff.

After awhile the others began to arrive and we helped decorate the tables a little. Eventually more and more came and we started to order food. Some were not happy with the service or the food. They basically didn’t understand that when people came they ordered what they wanted. Most of the others enjoyed their food. In total there were 17 for dinner and more arrived closer to the band performance? It was a disappointment for Gayle.

After paying my share of the bill (we were all supposed to pay for what we ordered) there was some question on some of the things we had. Maria B and her friends were really getting on my nerves too. They spoke amongst themselves in Spanish most of the time. Would not tell the waitress what they wanted and was dismissive. They needed to speak clearly and succinctly so the woman got the order right and not waste her time. As it was there were things on the bill (I think G & A had ordered but forgot about) that weren’t ours and Maria ended up paying for it. I left for home around 10:30.

Mom was home by the time I got home. She had been home only a short time too. She had a great time. We talked about the evening and how much fun we had.

Now that it’s getting late I am going to bed.

Exhausting night

Several of us from the office went to Wicked Wolf for dinner. Some of us got appetizers along with our meal. Man did I eat a lot. I had coffee because it was so cold out. While we were there two men from a union from Hartford were noticing us. They were waiting for the rally to begin. It wasn’t supposed to start until about 6:30 7 pm. It was being hosted by this organization: http://local.we-r-1.org/weareone/events/show/16 . Almost every labor organization, community organization came out to this rally tonight.

The meeting was held at the Church on the Green. We had several votes to take both for financial reasons and labor reasons. It went pretty fast. If you want to read more about it here and it will explain the reasons for the rally from the perspective of local labor. After the meeting we joined all the other unions including or sibling local 35. We marched across the New Haven Green and on to City Hall. For the next half hour we listened to chants, speeches, and froze my butt off. I was happy to be there because not only was this to support labor but I was happy to see people I hadn’t seen in quite some time.

As the rally drew to a close I caught up with my band of people that I had dinner with and we walked back to our cars. It was so cold that I couldn’t wait to get home and have some coffee.

It was dark by the time I got home Mom was sleeping in the chair so I got the garbage and recycle stuff out. You know I am looking forward to getting the new recycle bins (they will look like garbage cans) but not at the expense of the people losing their jobs. The bins we do have are old, cracking, and almost broken. The new ones will have a lid on it and hold more stuff. We are supposed to get them in June some time.

My cousin LC from NJ called tonight. He calls now and then to chat with Mom. They were catching up on family news. It’s amazing what time does because up until this past year he didn’t do that. I don’t know if it is because his mother is ill or because our family is getting smaller. Actually it’s the family on Mom’s side. I don’t know. What ever the reasons are I am glad he does it.

I got the minutes from Thursday’s meeting done tonight. Mom looked them over and except for one or two lines she thought they were great. I emailed them to Phil for his final approval. I should hear from him tomorrow morning. I will send them out after that.

I did make the attendance sheet for the meetings. It looks better then the first one I did a few months ago. As soon as I learn how to use the thumb drive I will save the documents. I am tempted to put last month’s minutes on the hard drive and then probably ask Mom for the ones I don’t have anymore. That will have to wait until tomorrow.

It’s almost midnight and I am tired. Have a great one and be careful out there.

Glad its Friday

I am so glad Its Friday. It is the end of what felt like a long week. I managed to get most if not all of the mail done. I still have a small pile of lockbox to finish on Monday and I realize I could have done it today but I also knew I had the lobby mail that I had been neglecting all week. The mailbox receptacle was filled to the top. I was able to get all that done by 3:30.

I was giving myself a headache by the end of the day. I tried to eat very little because I had started the http://katepshealth.blogspot.com/2011/03/weight-watchers-work-program-session-1.html  and that went well.

We got word late in the afternoon that Gayle had a high fever yesterday and went to the hospital and will probably stay the weekend there. I knew something was up when she didn’t come in this morning.

Tomorrow will be spent trying to pick up this room before or while Don is making a ghost image of the hard-drive. I am going to ask him if I should update the Adobe program as most sites need it to run properly.

I am not staying up much longer. Mom is in bed now reading. She has a memorial service to attend for a friend/classmate tomorrow around 11. She also is having Bob pick up rugs from Aunt Serena and Uncle Warren tomorrow too. They want Mom to have them.

Okay I have to go to sleep before I fall over…hugs you all.

Wednesday February 23, 2011

Can't believe its Wednesday again.  It was a cold start like it has been for the last couple of days.  Work went well.  Still didn't do the lobby mail.  I will probably do it tomorrow.

Mom checked out the laptops.you can read it here.  She is going back another time to get the answers she was looking for.  I was afraid she would just buy the wrong one or the one that was available.  I was wrong.

Mom tells me Woody popped his head out of his lair today.  She was highly disappointed.  It will be very funny.  I thought he comes out later?

We got word today that a dear friend Tom C passed away.  He was a member of the DTC before I joined but he was on several boards and committees with Mom and our friend Carla H.  Mom has sent an email to Carla about this.

The Day After

Well I got my wish. We got a lot of snow this storm and it looks lovely. It stopped snowing after 7 in the morning. I woke up and got up just about then and spent time online.

Around 8 I got ready to get to digging out and it took me a while. I made a path from the house to the driveway and cleared off my car and then nearly got stuck in the pile of snow. (I was getting agitated because I didn’t think I was going to get the driveway done and it was cold). I got it done enough where I could get out and when I came home I found that the driveway and the sidewalk had been cleared by Donny B.

The drive to Bingo was slow and I took New Haven Avenue in all the way to Gulf Street then from there to Cherry to North Street and then from there to Walnut (I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going). The roads were okay for the first major snow storm. From what I gather there were a lot of streets not done yet.

Bingo went well. Bob the Recreation therapist was there making coffee. He made it in fairly early as he told me he lives a half mile from the nursing home. He s pent his time with the residents upstairs doing exercise. The crowd I had was a bit feisty and I think that’s because of the weather. Julia C was showing off her new dentures and they sure do make her look different.

After Bingo I helped take people back to their rooms as the main dining room was closed because of staff shortages. One I got them back to the rooms I went to church. I was late but the attendance was low because of the weather. I saw Marisa and her Mom and they were doing their mother/daughter routine. Once I left them I drove to the CardSmart store close to home and got some boxes of Christmas Cards.

When I got home Mom and I discussed getting the gifts wrapped that needed wrapping. I really didn’t feel like having the discussion because I felt she was trying to pushing me to do things that I didn’t want to.

She went to the Knitwit Holiday party late this afternoon. She left around 3 and I thought she had to be there earlier. She really doesn’t like going to parties on time she feels it is chaotic. Excuse me but there is a reason they want to start at a certain time and perhaps end at a certain time. The upside is I can do what I want for the evening and she might be getting home late. As it is it is after 9:30.

I managed to get Jim’s and the kids presents ready to be mailed and Mom said she would do that for me tomorrow. I did get 8 cards addressed so far (that’s including the ones for Jim and the kids). I have also updated my address book and tried to trim my outlook express mailbox.

I have to wrap Bob and Ethel’s and of course Mom’s gifts soon. I think I will try to do it bright and early tomorrow before going to work. Mom really wants to get the wrapping paper out of the downstairs (bedroom areas) and back to the attic in their appropriate storage boxes. I am waiting on Bob’s coffee to get here I haven’t seen it and I am a little worried. I know I received an email the latter part of last week so I know its on its way.

Well alright now I am getting tired and need to get to bed. I am going to have to send the Christmas card list to my work address so that I can update it from work.

It is really cold out

It is almost 10 in the morning and I am doing the lockbox for today. I have been here since 10 after 8 and I really want to go back to bed. I really didn’t sleep well last night. I really have to make my bed when I get home. It was very cold in my room during the night and the AC cover isn’t helping it at all.

Well it is close to Noon time. I am still working on regular mail right now. I will be finished shortly and then I will do a list.

It is after 3 in the afternoon. I got everything done except the bulk mail. I didn’t get the chart request done until 1:30 or so. It feels pretty good to know that I got everything done.

I am not sure when I will be able to get the bulk mail done probably tomorrow.

I talked with Mom and she is fine she is at a meeting now and should be home by 4:30.

I also talked with Liz and she has a cold. She says she is giving a dinner for all the birthday’s she missed this past two months. That sounds like it is going to be fun. If not frantic.

Hey everyone. I am just checking in before I go to sleep. This cold has gotten a hold of me and I need my sleep. I haven’t really done very much of anything except watching TV. I watched L&O on TNT and then I watched Smallville. I haven’t watched that in a long time.

Mom has been agitating to me tonight. She got peeved she says because I left stuff open (the bins in the closet). She was goddamned insulting about it. If she continues then I just will be forced to expose her to the judge. Anyway, she finally also tells me the back rest I got her for Christmas isn’t comfortable for her. That’s its too heavy. “I don’t want to hurt your feelings”. I told her we can find her something else. What I would have loved to say to her was something entirely different.

Every time she does or says things to me that are just down right inappropriate makes me want to not do anything for the Living Treasure. Why should she get it? I am not jealous of her but the way she treats people is just down right inappropriate. I am beginning to think because I don’t feel well and that I am picking up on it more.

I got a cute card from my cousin Judy and her husband Scott and their daughter Chloe. Judy is my Aunt Rosemary’s Daughter and is living in NC. It is a picture of Chloe sitting on Santa’s lap with Mrs. Claus sitting next to them. Mom thinks its Aunt Rosemary. I seriously doubt it. Anyway, Chloe is really not happy in this picture (and I am sort of wondering why the hell they would use that picture as a card.

More and more people have told me that kids get traumatized when they get the pictures taken with Santa Claus. I am beginning to see that. Why would you do that to children?

Ok Well its way past my bedtime. I will see you all tomorrow.

It's Wednesday again

Well it is mid week and back to normal around here. Almost everyone is here. I am still not feeling all that well myself. Everyone is just so busy around here. I did get into my work. I did get online for a short time. I was looking for postal holidays for the 2008. These guys didn’t have the list ready so I did a search. I did read some other emails too. I checked some forums too. I even checked the Lee Majors one on IMDB. The reason for that is I had seen him on a show last night and was wondering if it was rebroadcast .Then I got off.

Around 11 I got back on for a bit. Just checking emails and stuff and seeing if there were any Federal Holiday lists from the Post Office. At lunch time I put the internet radio and my headset on and continued opening mail.

I talked with Mom earlier in the day. She was just getting up and having her coffee. I reminded her that I wouldn’t be home until 5:30. I am not sure what her day is going to be like.

Ann gave me back the rest of her gift to me (the hat and glove ensemble) I had to give it back to her because the security thing was still on it.

I am just heading to bed. It has been an active evening. It was so cold when I left the office this afternoon. I could feel it right through my clothes. I stopped at the car to change my shoes and drop off the bags. I headed to Debra’s and was there by 4:20. I was so cold.

The session went pretty well. We discussed the holidays and family things. We talked about how stressful and agitating it was for me. I told her how work went and how I was trying really hard to keep up with everything. I still have the other batch of “readdress mail to be sorted and delivered. I am pleased how today went. As the session drew to a close we discussed the time for the next session. Debra wants to meet on Wednesday again and then the following week we will return to our regular session. Debra is fighting a cold too. It must be that time of the season.

It was dark when I left the office. I could see the sun still setting in the west. The wind was starting to get stronger. I walked as fast as I could to the elevator and to the car. The traffic was heavy but moved. That included the highway. I got home by 5:30 as I expected I would. Mom was in the back room watching TV and the dinner was cooking in the oven. Mom still wasn’t feeling great. We would be eating close to 6. I took the opportunity to change my clothes and watch Charmed. After that ended I came downstairs.

WE had our dinner and watched the news. The State primary lottery was held today. This lottery will determine the listing of the candidates for our Primary in February. It is going to be held on Mom’s birthday. Chief Political Correspondent Mark Davis explained how the lottery is done.

While we will still eating Telka called and wanted to come over and pick up the stuff from the gift wrapping fundraiser we had in mid December. She said she would be over after 7. That was just about then when I got the garbage out and got the stuff from the trunk.

When she came we spent the next hour talking about her vacation and the holidays and I told her about the stuff with pen paling and family. She showed me the dissertation and that was just about when Mom asked her about the difference between dissertation and thesis and fellowship.

Around 7:30 she left to pick up Ted her son from scouts. We said good bye and I went upstairs.

It is so cold and windy. The AC is and its cover is not helping this room one bit. It’s freezing. I need to make the bed so that I can be warm. I guess I can do it tomorrow.

Long Day again

I am at work and would rather be home. I went to the Inauguration last night and it was very nice. I went to the reception in the BOE room. It was very crowded. The refreshments were very nice all kinds of pastry. I had one and it got all over me. I went to shake the new school superintendent’s hand and I was really embarrassed. I stayed until 9:00 or so. I was home a short time later. Mom came home around 9:30. I told her about the evening and I also told her it wasn’t in City Hall but Parson’s Complex. She was surprised.

The whole incident with the whipped cream on my hand bothered me for the rest of the night. I would think about it and get embarrassed all over again. It took me a while to get to sleep. I ended up waking up around 2 or 3.

It wasn’t just because of the incident but I started sniffling and had this urge to sneeze. I still do actually. I didn’t get back to sleep until my alarm went off at 5. I am so not feeling well. I did start a letter to Jeanette last night.

We had an impromptu meeting to decide what we were getting both Susan and Patty. Lee Ann clearly doesn’t want to give much to either of them. But the suggested amount is $5 for each of the ladies. I believe we are getting gift cards for them. There was some debate as to whether or not they (the ladies in question) are paying for our own party or not.

I called Mom this morning to make sure she got up for her dentist appointment and to remind her I have the meeting with Debra. She said that would be good because that’s the time she is getting home. I told her I would go and feed the cat first before coming home.

Well we just found out that Patti and Susan are treating us for the luncheon. They are paying for it. Apparently has everyone feeling guilty for being so ungracious about the choices of caterers.

It is after 2 pm and it is still raining. It probably will be for the rest of the day. I don’t know if we will get snow they said it would be mixed with rain. The Litchfield county and Hartford County will probably get it.

I have to finish some more work before leaving for Debra’s office. I will check in with you later.

It is after 8 and I have been home since 6. The afternoon went okay. I told Debra the events of the past week and my anger and frustrations. By the end of the session I was feeling better and knew that things despite the anger and hurt would be okay. Realizing Mom isn’t going to change that much.

After the session I walked back to the garage in the dark. It was rather warm for a November night. It was raining on and off. The traffic was rather slow through Long Wharf so I got on at exit 45. The traffic seemed to move better from there. North Bound however wasn’t going very far. I got to Mike and Roberta’s shortly after 5:30.

Junior(ette) was lying on the floor welcoming me. I played with her for a bit and then emptied her litter box. It was all over the floor. After that I fed her and called Mom. Mom wasn’t home yet so I left a message. After that I had mini sundae. I played with the cat for a bit and then left for home. It took a few minutes to get out of the driveway.

I was home before 6. Mom was watching TV. She decided to get my dinner ready. She wasn’t going to have anything but tomato soup. She had some dental work done and it really hurt her. I ate dinner halfway through the 6 pm news. I couldn’t even begin to tell you what was there. I did get to see ABC News. One of the major stories was about the major storm that is supposed to muck up the holiday travel in the Midwest. Charlie Gibson interviewed President Bush and First Lady Laura. He also did a brief history of Camp David. Mom convenient left the room. J She came back when they did a walking tour of Camp David. She had her dinner then and watched the Newshour with Jim Lehrer.

I told Mom about my sleepless night and the reasons for it. She said sometimes it is good to look at things even though it makes us uncomfortable. I also told about my dream of losing her car somewhere. She agreed that could make for a sleepless night (losing the car not the dream). I also told her that my nose was running or something. I decided I would take the nighttime stuff and go to sleep. I checked with Mom about the outdated stuff and she said it should be okay.

WE got an invitation from Kerri Rowland to have a thank you party at the Hyatt Place Hotel on Friday November 30, 2007. It is from 5:30 to 8 pm. I am planning on going but Mom isn’t sure yet what she is doing.

Well if I am going to get some sleep I better say good night. Everyone be careful traveling tonight!

Tuesday October 2, 2007

Well it is 9:30 in the morning and I am not feeling that great. I think I had coughed during the night. I took ibuprofen and should have taken something else but I wasn’t sure if I could with the plaquenil.

The drive to work was fine until I got close to the exit to get off. They would not let me out. It was really aggravating. I got to work before 8 and started doing stuff. I picked up the envelopes from Ann that I didn’t pick up yesterday.

Yes! Three hours to go before going home. It has been a hectic morning. We had to evacuate the building today for a fire alarm. We felt it was the real thing because usually the minute we get out of the building and to safety we have to go back in. I was told that one person didn’t even bother.

Tracea G is a bitch. I was coming back from the restaurant Paula's and I swiped my card and there was Tracea standing there looking at me. The door had already unlocked and I looked at her and said “open the door”. She comes shot back “don’t get snotty”. I told her that she saw me with something in my hands that’s hot. We haven’t spoken since. I was telling Terry about it and she agreed that she was rude.

Well it is 12 minutes before 4 and I will be leaving for Debra’s. In the last several hours I managed to open but not sort the mail. I still have much readdress/personal mail to deal with and I can do that tomorrow. I did get the bad Address tally done.

I don’t think I am going to Headquarters tonight. I am not feeling that great. I better post this because I need to go to the ladies room before leaving.

It is after 8 and I am getting into my pajamas. I will be going shortly after I write this entry and a little bit more of a few letters I have here.

The session with Debra went by quickly. I told her how the weekend went and from there I spent a good amount of time discussing the history with Dave. He had a wonderful thing going and he blew it. I also told her about the events of earlier today. I admit on the grand scale of things the Tracea incident isn’t that big.

The ride home was manageable. It was heavy but it moved. I could see one truck harassing a small car in front of him by flashing the lights. That little car was bound and determined to go the speed limit in the middle lane. As I got off the highway in Orange two State Trooper vehicles came whizzing on by with sirens going and lights flashing. I didn’t see them get back on the highway again so they must have gone towards West Haven. I didn’t see them on the route I took to the house.

I think it was after 5:30 when I got home. Mom had dinner ready. I also forgot to tell her that I was seeing Debra today. We ate while watching the news. The big item was the airbus that flew into Hartford today. The other big item was the Bruce Springsteen Concert in Hartford. It is the first stop of his new tour. Hartford was getting all set for the influx of concert goers. They want to be known for a place of fun and not crime and Violence.

After dinner Mom got ready for her Bridges meeting and left shortly after that. I spent the time watching TV and taking the bath. Mom got home about 10 minutes ago and is getting into her pajamas.

While writing this I had a conversation w/ a girl named Bledsel. She was from the SF-Fandom Angel/Buffy board. She wanted to know if I had a particular video and I told her no. She thought the SF-Fandom board was a Charisma Carpenter site. Well I didn’t remember being on any site recently for her. Then when she told me I realized “oh yeah” that one.

Well now that it is a little before 9 I don’t foresee myself writing major letters so I am going to say good night.

Last Day of Vacation

Considering that today is my last day of vacation.   I am going to make sure things that were not done (housework mostly) are done...
