The Weekend

The Weekend has officially started.  I saw Mom last night around dinner time.  I brought some clean clothes for her and she was having dinner.  I stayed with her about an hour.  We talked about a lot of different things including her visit with my Cousin Bill.  I even got some more magazines from the recreation room for her. I stayed for about an hour or so.

After I left Mom I headed to Burger King for dinner (huge mistake) and then went home.  I really didn’t do very much for the rest of the night except make some phone calls and send some emails.  I did get a text message from Liz with Pictures.  I told her about the family meeting slated for next week.  I ended up going to bed by midnight.

I woke up around 5 this morning to the NPR radio shows.  I decided to bring in my stereo from my room to Mom’s to play.  I probably could have put her stereo on the floor and plugged behind the bed like I did mine but my brain turned to mush.

I woke up this morning very tired.  I stayed in bed until 7 then got ready for my early trip to Mom who was still in bed eating breakfast.  I brought her some coffee and her papers.  I stayed with her until about 8:30 then headed to my hair appointment.

I was on time despite my round about way of getting to the salon.  Jamie was a few minutes late but I didn’t care.  She did a great job as always.  I do need to get the T-Gel dandruff (yuck) again.  I was finished by 9:30 or ten I think.  Liz’s friend Andrea was there so we chatted.

When i got home I started getting some of the things together for the wedding.  Liz suggested I wear the spandy around the house because she had to throw hers out because it was rolling.  Only women can understand that.  I tried it but I don’t seem to be having the problems she has.  Either that i am ignoring them.

I was planning on getting some laundry done today before leaving for the wedding.  It ain’t happening.  Nope no way.  I will have to do it tomorrow night after I see about the dog sitting assignment.

Well I better get going ...have to get myself beautiful

Busy Week Again

Monday I worked, saw Mom and went shoe shopping with Liz.  I did pretty well.  I got three pairs of shoes all velcro type shoes and had the same woman wait on us from the last time.  Liz was impressed with her.   They are going to be comfortable.

Tuesday was a night of rest after my visit with Mom and a trip to IHOP for dinner.  I was really exhausted.  My sleep continues to be very erratic.  I have also been achy by the time I get home and sometimes can’t lift things.

Today I met with Debra and told her of the past week’s events including the one where one of the staff members told Mom I was yelling and causing scenes over Mom not getting tea. She agreed that 1) it was very unprofessional of that person to even speak to Mom on the matter and 2) if that person had a problem with me to come to me.

Tonight is the final MYWC meeting of the year.  We are having a farewell party for the seniors and the installation of the officers.  I am bringing wings and things from Buffalo Wild Wings.

Thursday  I am getting a pedi-manicure done right after work.  I hope to get to see Mom right after.  She was having a tough day today and I just wanted to see her.

Friday I probably will do laundry and get ready for the wedding on Saturday.  I won’t be staying up too late that night either.

Saturday morning is my hair appointment and then I will get ready for the wedding   Rich and Chris are supposed to pick me up at 3:30 for the wedding.  I have to supply the address for them.

Sunday I have my morning activities and then the picnic for the woman’s club and girls club.  That evening I meet up with a new client for dog sitting.  Then I go home and get ready for the week ahead...

Father's Day Weekend

Well another holiday has come and gone and it was a pretty good one at that.  Well honestly it didn’t start off that way.  Friday night after leaving Mom for the evening I headed to GG’s Restaurant for a large pizza.  I went home not realizing I didn’t have my ID holder that had everything in it.  When I went looking for it the next morning I couldn’t find it.  I tore the house apart.  I decided to give up and get over to Mom before it was got too late.  Happily after my visit I went to the restaurant to look around.  The owner and or manager was in the back getting a suntan and so I asked him if he found it and it turns out that one of his waitresses handed it in.

Just as I was arriving home Saturday afternoon LIz called me and invited me to the Norwalk Maritime Center with her and her kids.  It was a lot of fun.  We even got to feed Lorikeets and I even got “blessed” by one.  Poor Audrey got it literally in her eye.  She came to me to get it cleared out.  I felt ten feet tall.  We had dinner at TGI Friday’s and had a great time.  When we got back to the house we made plans to go see Mom.  I would go first while Liz had some things to do and then go.

The visit was great we talked and had fun and then we left.  By the time I got home I was exhausted and got ready for bed.  It actually is becoming the usual blur.  I do remember hearing the fireworks from the harbor.  The harbor is about five to six miles away from the house.

Sunday I went to the nursing home early and MOm had her PT.  I stayed with her until it was time for bingo.  I had to drop stuff off at her room before going.  I did bingo and chatted with Natalie and then I think I said goodbye to Mom.  My original plan was to go to the parade that afternoon.  Instead I slept and did some other things.  I had my final visit with MOm for the day with some requests from Jim.   Liz and Nelson were there I think...yes we were all there.  They talked about the parade and I finished MOm’s lobster roll dinner that Nelson and Liz got.

All in all it was a great one all around.

We use Calendars to keep our lives and appointments straight.  I have been using the online calendars that are available as well as my outlook calendar and my work calendar.  For the longest time I wouldn't put my personal appointments (after work hours) on the work calendar now I am beginning to re-think that idea.  My question is What calendars do you use and do you find it useful?  Do you put your personal appointments on your work calendar?

I had my colonoscopy consult yesterday  It took just  about 45 minutes of vitals, and reviewing history and what I can expect to happen and why.  Then we scheduled it for mid July.  I talked with Liz and she will be bringing me that day.

I got to the office just after 10 and got to work I started to work on the lockbox and then the second run came so I was working on both for the rest of the day.  It was completely done by the time I left for the day.  We had a cake for Nadine who starts her new job in Reimbursement on Monday.  it was huge! Of course it was delicious too.

I had my dentist appointment as well and then I went to see Mom.  I brought some things from home she wanted including the mail.  She was less agitated than earlier in the day.  Let’s just say she is very anxious to get home.  At one point she was in pain and they didn't come with the pain medication when she asked.  Now Liz makes her write down when she gets the meds so that she will know when she can have it again.  I will go after work to see her again.  I have the newspaper and the sweaters she wants (I hope).  She will be having the Literary club coffee klatch come on Saturday morning.  She set it up with her friend Maureen.

Tonight I am doing laundry (yeah I know I have been saying that a lot this week).  I am going to make sure most of the house is in order.  Livia is coming on Wednesday instead of Thursday.  I got an email from TM last night..

This weekend continues the Celebration of Milford’s Anniversary with lots of activities including a play that my friend Nancy is directing.  I am hoping I can go at least once this weekend.  I am definitely going to the parade on Sunday.

Well whatever it is you are doing this weekend may it be a wonderful and safe weekend!!!!

Been Busy

I have edited this entry at least three different ways and I really need to go to bed.

Even though its only Wednesday I have been busy. I have been working, going to meetings, and doctors appointments and making a couple of visits to Mom.  I didn’t go today because Mom didn’t want me to come after the meeting getting out so late.

My sleep has been erratic.  Really good from Sunday into Monday and the rest of the time not so much.  I am hoping it will be better tonight.

I have my first Colonoscopy Consult tomorrow with the GAstroenterology office in town.  Then we will schedule the actual procedure.  It was highly recommended I take that entire day off when I do schedule it..

Then I am going to work and then to my dentist appointment for a check up on the tongue and whatever else he needs to do.

I am going to see Mom after that and then hopefully do the rest of my laundry.

Going to bed now

I am hoping that I will sleep better than I did last night.  I went to bed early and ended up waking up during the night.  My arms were hurting and that may have been the many things that woke me.   This morning was busy as I went to see Mom and then to bingo.

The afternoon brought some down time for me as well as a little community service activities between the DTC and Woman’s club.  I did some laundry and then did my final visit at the hospital.

Mom will be moved some time tomorrow to the WRHCC for rehab.  It is the nursing home I volunteer at and was the final home of my grandmother (Mom’s mother).  I don’t know how long she will be there but I am thinking it will be for at least two weeks.  I will go there after work with some more things she asked for (and made me take home this afternoon).

My brother Jim should be in town around 3 tomorrow afternoon.  His daughter graduated from High School today.  (I am very proud of her)Anyway I am not sure how long he will be here for either.

Well my wrist is acting weird so I better go...

Boy Did I over sleep last Wednesday

At one point I woke up at quarter of 6.  I hit the imaginary snooze button and the next thing I knew it was 7 am.  Let’s just say I broke the speed record for bath and dressing and getting out the door by 7:30.  Of course it was just after 8 am when I arrived at the office and I ran into Susan.

The rest of the day went smoothly.  I got the mail done in good time and I started sorting and batching some EOBs for Susan.  I didn’t get to finish them by the time I left but I will when I get into the office tomorrow.

I had a good session with Debra today.  We talked about the ups and downs and that i seem to be on the upside of life for for now.  We touched on the activities for the week and a little on the coming weeks when she will be on vacation for the first few weeks in July..  We will discuss it more as the time draws closer.

Getting out of the city was a challenge.  There seemed to be traffic everywhere and slow at best..  I changed my route some what beause of the grating on the road on Marsh Hill Road.

When I got home Mom had a visit from her friend Maureen.  Mom was also cooking and she had been baking.   It was great to see Maureen.  She tells me the ladies of the literary club want to come and visit for an hour one saturday.  I think that would be great.

We had some bbq pork and vegetables for dinner and for dessert we had mincemeat pie.  Both very delicious..  Cleaing up was a breeze and got the dishwasher and garbage out.

Mom went to bed early and I did some of her laundry and now I am heading there myself.

Lots going on

Thursday Mom fell and broke her hip.  She has been in the hospital since then and had surgery yesterday and is beginning the healing process as I write this.  She will be going to the nursing home I volunteer at for the rehab session.  I saw her yesterday afternoon and she seemed okay but in some pain.  I will be seeing her as soon as I post this entry.  A couple of people have said they are sending flowers and cards to her.  I am not telling her that because I want to be surprised.

It looks like my nephew JOhn is going to beat his sister to the altar as he and Heather will be getting married on July 20, 2014 in Tacoma WA.  I haven’t decided if I am going yet or not.  There are several factors  involved here Mom, finances, time and of course energy.

Last night the Democratic Party Awards dinner was held at Aldarios Restaurant.  I attended and had fun for a while.  I had a late lunch yesterday and ended up not eating my dinner.  I was not feeling that well either.  I told pretty much everyone about Mom.  I sat with several people from another district and who are wonderful people.  Some of the Dignitaries were our State Representatives and the LT Governor Nancy Wyman.  Kevin Lembo the State Comptroller and of course Senator Richard Blumenthal.

Well I better get going...Mom’s awaiting...

I am exhausted

That’s it I am going to bed.  I am so exhausted that I can’t see straight and my knee has been bothering me for quite some time now.  I have taken the tylenol so it should kick in anytime now.  I ended up waking up during the night several times and also not getting back to sleep until maybe a couple of hours before the alarm was set to go off.  This time the alarm was set for 6.  I got up and got ready for work and left just about the same time as yesterday but I managed to get the office right at 8.

I had received a package for a Doctor that had to be redirected and that took some time but after some phone calls and putting a sign on it-it will leave tomorrow morning for the right destination.  Lockbox was heavy as usual.  So much so I was unable to finish it and will do it in the morning.  There seemed to be a lot of mail from the mailbox in the lobby too.  I even mentioned it to Susan.

I finally sent the referral to Diagnostic Radiology.  i had to fax it twice because the first time I didn’t do it right.  I am just waiting on them to call me back for an appointment.  I am getting my first bone Density test..

The weather was beautiful but on the breezy side as well.  It was sunny for most of the day until 7 and it looked like the sky was going to open up and come crashing down.  It didn’t.  There was some rain and tbh I am expecting a lot more during the night   My friend Mardi in the northwest part of the state got the thunder and lightening.  I won't mind if she sent it down here.  I have a yard with new grass seed that needs to grow.

I went to the Campaign Kickoff and had a lot of fun.  I stayed for about an hour and half but ate plenty.  I was back home before the rain started.

Mom was getting ready for bed when I got home.  She is still reading the magazines and enjoying her new haircut that she got today.  Liz took her to a place near the Merritt Pkwy in Milford.

Have a great night and see you later...

A Gorgeous Day

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day from early morning right through the day.  It was in the low to mid 70’s today here in Milford and it was the same in New Haven.  I even got to walk outside even though it was just to Walgreen’s.  The weathermen at Channel 8 is recommending the AC’s go into the window and get turned on.  I have a fan I may put it because I was a little warm last night and I have a feeling its going to be the same tonight.

I really got up early this morning before 5 actually.  I told Mom I didn’t go back to bed but instead got online, watched TV, surfed the net and the got ready for work and was out the door a little before 7:15.   I managed to even get breakfast at Dunkin Doughnuts and got to New Haven in plenty of time to get to the office and get set up and have my breakfast.

i was able to get a lot done today and of course have more to do when more comes my way tomorrow.  The office continues to make me feel very organized and have a lot of room.  I managed to get some supplies (cleaning and food related) for the office at lunch time.

It was nearly five when I got in the house. The drive home was really not that eventful if it was I really didn’t notice it.  I think because something was irritating my eyes today.  Of course when I got on the street I had to see my God sons Simon and Sawyer.

When I finally got in the house Mom was waiting on me for dinner.  We were having leftover stuffed peppers and cauliflower and for dessert fruit over shortbread cookies.  It was certainly refreshing for a night like tonight.

I got a weird email from Jamie’s email account. I emailed him and asked him about it he didn’t know what it was that’s when I knew it was a phishing email.  I forwarded the email to him so he could take a look.  I also told Mom about it at dinner and the end result.

I heard from the doctor today (my primary) and he wants me to start taking Vitamin B3.  I am not sure why I have to listen to the voice mail message again.  I really have to update my health blog. Its been weeks okay may be even months since I did.

Well I am going to get to bed.  I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow that includes going to Senator Gayle Slossberg’s  Campaign kickoff Party at 5:30.   I was talking about it with Mom.  I told her I wasn’t going to be there very long.  I am thinking of going for a couple of hours.  She is a really good friend of ours.

Oh and thanks to Keith in KY for this little reminder there is less the 206 days until Christmas....:)

Not doing very much this morning
