Halloween 2012

Dear Milford Residents due to the recent Hurricane and its aftermath Halloween will be postponed until Wednesday November 7, 2012.  This will be so that our future generations will be safe as we clean up and get Milford back in order.  According to Milford Patch.com city officials surveyed the hardest hit and canceled school for the rest of the week.

Work was as I pretty much expected.  Busy and hectic the volume of the mail was heavy but I was expecting more lockbox.  The lockbox wasn’t handed to me until 11 just about the same time as the second wave arrived.    I spent the hours before its arrival doing re-address mail and chatting with others over storm stories.   . 

I saw Liz and Nelson today.  Their street had wires down (and dead for now) and the fire department was trying to remove their neighbors’ tree from the house.   It really cut a huge hole in the roof.  She tells me that Nephew Chris lost everything in his basement apartment.  He will be staying with his girl friend but the weekends he has the kids he will be staying with Liz.  The kids will too.

My appointment with the Hematologist was good.  I got my B-12 shot as well.  I hadn’t been taking my iron pills of late because the last time he said the anemia was low.  He does want me to get more blood work to see how much longer I have to take the Coumadin.  He wants me to do it a week after I get my INR (and I don’t have a cold)

My scratchy throat is not getting any better.  I think I am getting a cold.  I found myself sneezing coughing and the like.  I just took the night time cold medicine from Costco.  I hope it starts to work.

I am going to watch NCIS until 10 and then watch H: TLJ at 10 and then hit the sack.  I am going too definitely try getting in early to finish today’s mail and then work on what ever comes in. 

Hanna is coming

It has been raining on and off this morning but it is suppose to arrive sometime after 2 pm and last until 2 am tomorrow. That’s according to the latest report. Mom is going to the rally and then depending on the weather out to dinner with Martha. I will be spending the day getting rid of papers and writing letters and updating files.

I remembered that I have to feed the cat today. It was after 8 when I realized what I had to do. On the way to the house I saw a small flock of Turkeys on the Church lawns. They were huge. Missy was out waiting for me when I was leaving so I gave her some treats.

Many organizations have cancelled their activities and events for today. Around Noon there was a siren alert and a message to evacuate. I mean come on. It’s a tropical Storm and we have had this type of weather before. Why are you trying to cause a panic?

The rain finally started around here by 4. I was watching TV when all of the sudden I heard it coming down and looked up and saw it. Mom and I closed some of the windows to make sure it didn’t come in. The rain and wind picked up by 6. The rain seemed to come down hard at times but the wind continued.

Mom had dinner with her friend Martha this evening it is a once a month date they have. They go to this one restaurant they like in West Haven and have a great time talking. Mom came home by 7 or so.

The rest of the night I surfed the net because there really isn’t anything worth watching tonight.

Intense Morning

Hey everyone! We have had some excitement here at the office. There is a fire about two blocks from here. I have never heard of this place but people could see the smoke from as far as East Haven. I didn’t notice it until I was getting closer to the garage where I park the car. Someone (Donna G) told me it was a strip club. I asked others and they said “never heard that”. Why do I listen to that woman???? Anyway the fire looks like it out now.

It is almost 11 and I am working on the mail. The post office mail was light and I am just starting the lockbox. I was working on some readdress mail and labels. So far it’s been going pretty well.

I am trying to figure out if I want to go to the bank or not today. I don’t feel like going out and yet I have 15 or 16 gas cards to get for birthdays and Christmas Gifts. There is snow predicted for tomorrow.

I emailed my cousin Dan and he sent me a picture he took from his office building. He says it was pretty intense. He had taken the picture about 8:15. By then the fire had been going for nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Well it is after 2:30 and I am about to work on the Bad Addresses. I have the rejections sorted and delivered. I still have readdress mail to do and bulk mail but I don’t think I will be able to do it.

I have the three intro letters written and I have posted it to the lists and to my pen pal blog.

I am going to go through the personal mail and then clean up and go home.

It is almost lunch time. The day started out pretty rainy but has since gotten sunny and a little warmer. I made sure I got up early enough to go to Costco. I got dressed and put the news on.

There was a fire in West Haven. It destroyed one house and jumped and partially damaged the other. It happened about 1:30 this morning. The house is about a minute from this house and just past the rotary. There was a two truck roll over in New Haven. It was at the exit ramp where I get off in the morning. I had to get off one exit earlier.

Well it is after 1:30 and I am working on lockbox from this morning. I have just been doing this and that around here. I had a brief conversation with Irma Hammer. She is one of the six people who were fired for HIPAA violations last year. I think it’s been a year. She is doing okay. She tells me she was recently working for her lawn guy and will be doing temping jobs. I also had a lovely conversation with Lisa S in Reimbursement. She has returned from a medical leave. She had surgery on her leg/knee.

Oh guess what I found today? For all of you who don’t know what Mom looks like here you go. J I tried calling her at home but she is out. At least I think she is…

Well I am going to post this now that it is after 3:30 and I am going to Debra’s after this.

I am never using the elevators in the parking garage again

Why you ask? Well this morning about 20 of 8 there were 8 of us in the elevator and it stopped--in between 2nd Floor and the street. The other seven were from KOF (Knights of Columbus) and that was the cosmic joke. If any of you have read my blogs you know I kvetch about how the employees from that organization wlaks down the ramps to get to their building. One of them used the call button and got the company operator (or who ever) and they said they would send someone. We had to call them back and then it was decided to call 911. They got us out after 8. Luckily I was able to call Susan R and leave message. I couldn't get Patti. That's why I am not using their elevators. They really need to do something about it.

Later on I called Mom. First to let her know what happened (not that she could do anything about it) and then again to let her know that I would like her to invite Bob and Ethel. She was telling me yesterday that she felt bad she couldn't invite them because Liz resents him. Mom admitted that Bob is abrasive and doesn't mean. I told her that he is difficult to be with. She dismissed Liz's feelings as "seeing things that not really there". Mom is also upset that Jim hasn't returned any of her calls.

Oh this day just got better. I just called Mom a little after 2 and guess what? Good News: Bob and ethel are coming. Bad news: Mom "inadvertantly" opened my union plus bill. She went into the "you could have had a good life" "i don't have the money to get my medication". I told her I am working on it and thinking of getting rid of it.

WE had the discussion and it didn't go well. She told me that what I do effects the house and that she has a right to know. SHe didn't like my attitude she told me I could get out and do things on my own. and she feels that i need help and she asked me what Debra thought of it (she had the audacity to call her barbara). Before dinner we talked about it and I asked her if any of those credit councelors would work.

I also told her about the AARP. Now she is going to be on the look out for that. Where does she get off thinking because its her house she needs to know everything? if anyone told her she was out of line she would probably tell him to "keep still" and "I am going to do what I want".

The meeting went very well. Lee was honored and given a citation. Near the end Linda Stevenson told me I should get the letter of resignation from Barbara S. That anything should come from me and not mike. Mom jumped into the discussion sticking her damn nose into it.

I am being civil to her but down deep I am so damn angry that she thinks she needs to control everything

I got an email from Jim tonight. He was wishing me a happy birthday. I was concerned that he didn't return any calls of Mom's. I went downstairs and asked her and she told me he called. He isn't talking about the divorce. I asked her if she told him about the credit card and she said yes. He is upset and says I need help. I asked her again what did he say? He better of told her that she was in violation of my civil rights to privacy.
