Election Day 2021

Today is the day where we vote in or reelect people running our local municipalities At least here in Connecticut that’s what’s going here; I can’t begin to think of the other states. I tried to look it up but I don’t have the time to research it.    I got up early and headed to my new Poll location and got to meet some of the candidates from the 5 th district.   I have seen the ones who are on the DTC at the zoom meetings and such but that’s it.   A few of the other Republicans I knew of from Awards night at the High Schools.   Anyway, going in was easy and voting wasn’t bad either.   I thought there would be an issue with my license because it still had my old address on the front and the new one on the back but there wasn’t.   Members of the DTC party will be meeting at    Bridge House in Devon.   It will also have zoom connections as well.   I wasn’t going to go there but made a commitment to attend so I will go after...

I am wondering

It is after 2 in the morning and I am sitting here because I couldn’t sleep.   I think I Had one of those pericardial events in my shoulder again.   It hurt like the dickens.   I couldn’t get comfortable and I put a heating pad on and I took some Tylenol a little while ago.   It feels better but that’s because I am sitting up as opposed to lying down on the pillows.   I am going to try and get back to sleep because I will be getting up in about 3 or 4 hours. I also had a panic moment when I came down to check on the cats.   Tiger was sleeping now she is preening herself but for fair amount of time I couldn’t find Sky.   I looked in his normal places.   I even thought he was under the bed.   He wasn’t.   I came down again and found him on a tote filled with Towels.   I walked by him at least once before I saw him on that. I picked him up and hugged him and put him back.   I think he may have travelled again.   The ...

Election Day 2020

It’s Election Day 2020.   The next four years are decided today and actually probably for the next week.   It’s been said we won’t know who wins until January.   Others are afraid that President Trump will be re-elected.   Others are hoping he will be.   There is a believe things will not change and get worse.   I personally agree.   I don’t believe he is good leader.    There is a certain way to behave in the office and he doesn’t.   I don’t think being a President is easy but he is making a mockery of the US. So I urge any and all of you to go and make the best decision that will befit you and your lives.   Just know the facts.   Whatever choice you make will not change our relationship(s). To those running for office here in the state and across the country good luck to you and wish you the best.   Lead us the best way you can possible. This morning I voted at my local HS.   At times the lines seemed l...

Found the Transfer Station

I found the transfer station with little to no problem except the GPS or phone went away from the map but still gave me instructions and I had to stop and reset it to the map.   I got to see some part of the town I haven’t seen in a while and it’s pretty for an industrial/rural area.   It didn’t take long and but I learned where things go.   On the way home I called Dave.   He kept me company until I got to the dry cleaners.   He questioned why I was coming from the transfer station especially if I could have the Veteran’s Organization come by.   Why couldn’t I have waited until the bulk pickup in two weeks?   I told him I needed to do it.   He told me on his way to with JimK he was caught up in the traffic block on the highway yesterday.   He hadn’t heard it was going to happen.   I knew it happened.   I think it was on Facebook or heard about it this morning on the news.   Neither of us really called it what was but it wa...

Such a long day

Today was such a long day.   I left the house around 7; 15 and got gas.   At First the pump didn’t work and when it finally did the receipt printer didn’t work.   I had to go in to get it.   I was strongly objecting and he explained it would be $10,000 to replace maybe you want to pay for it?   Ah that’s one of the responsibilities of having a fucking gas station you moron.   His snarky remark to me made me feel like I won’t be going to him again anytime seen. I got to work just around 10 of the hour and realized I didn’t do the WC mail.   DG and I strategized and discussed that and got right into giving her the stuff I worked on it.   I actually worked on the one box of heal logic until early afternoon.   WE switched and I worked on readdress mail that seemed to be growing in volume.   The US mail came again and worked on that.   When that was finished I went back to the readdress mail.   I had no choice the scanning pr...

New Month New Laws

Every October new law and new statutes start in CT.  Some I understand, some I don’t, and of course there are those I know will raise people’s hackles.  The first one that pops out to me is  the smoking age has been raised to 21.  THat hasn’t stopped anyone before.  There will be a 40 cent tax on the pre-filled E-cigarettes and a 10 cent on all other e cigarette products.  My hope is that anyone who is vaping reconsiders this real fast especially with the recent health scare and issues. The state sales tax will now be applied to digital purchases such as Spotify,  and probably netflix, or any other thing.  I don’t usually use spotify but I use Pandora or accu-radio.  I also don’t know if that will apply to places such as Wal*Mart or any online shopping sites. There are a whole bunch of laws that involve persons personal and private space, healthcare, and making some laws already in place stronger.  I put a call in to the furnace ...

Oh My

The weather has been great for the last few days.  In the 70’s and sunny. The only day we had rain was wednesday I managed to go for a walk at lunch one day and did just over a mile in 20 minutes.   I learned to use all trails recording app. ITs pretty cool. My day on Monday was pretty routine.  Did scanning, advised DG when I needed.  I am thinking today will be as well. I probably will be working on readdress mail that DG couldn’t find if we catch up with scanning.  THen refunds if they come in. Tuesday and Thursday we will be celebrating PM’s 40th anniversary with YM (and the University in general).  She has been a great friend, leader, and boss and I suspect she will be until I retire.   Also JerriK announced her retirement and her last day is next Tuesday.  We got her a card and gift card. She didn’t want to make a big deal about it. ITs also birthday celebrations as well.  I have to update my birthday list very so...

The Last Farewell...RIP Mr President.

Today was  the funeral for President George HW Bush.  IT was held at the National Cathedral in DC.  According to one of the news reports I heard you had to be invited to this funeral.  That makes sense in ways that I can’t begin to imagine. All Living Past Presidents were to be in attendance I believe.  I heard or read that the Bush Family and President Trump have put aside their differences for today (that’s a no brainer Mr. Trump). There were   many dignitaries from around the world.  There were members of President Bush Sr.’s cabinet in attendance (some of them have shared memories in interviews on the news radios, and of course on CNN) and members of the Carrier with President Bush’s name  on were his pallbearers.  USA Today printed up an Itinerary. One of my coworkers asked why the banks and Post office closed for the President’s funeral.   She made the comment no other Presidents were garnered this honor. I had ...

Long Night

I rushed out of here yesterday forgetting my cell phone.  Stopped at home got the cats fed, had something to eat so I wouldn’t overeat at HQ (didn’t help).  Then headed to the gym, and after the gym headed to HQ. I got there on time.  Alex and immediately started the squats w/30 lb kettlebell, then the rows, then the rubber band.  We talked about the brunch I went to, the fact my myfitnesspal app won’t open (they updated it), we spoke about elections, and pets.  Before we finished he reminded me that the final night of the challenge is next Monday! THat I need to behave (food intake wise/exercise wise) After the session went to HQ where there was last minute phone banking going on.  I proceeded to eat pizza (4 slices) and then as more food arrived thanks to SHARONM and Chairman Phil I ate it.  Now I didn’t just stand there and eat I also chatted with people I hadn’t seen in quite some time. I also was on the receiving end of being ignored by ...

Election Day 2018

My hope was to get there at 6 a.m.  I didn’t but I did manage to vote and ran into friends and former classmates I haven’t seen in a while and i managed to chat with Judge Beverly Streit-Kefalas, and Ted B, husband to Cindy Wolfe Boynton who is running for office.  I probably will see the others tonight at HQ. I have been getting a few updates from the Volunteers at the polls via text and just from what I saw there were a lot of people out.  I hope it goes well. OF course I want my candidates to win the election and I am thinking they will they worked hard. I am nervous about the Governor seat.  I will be totally surprised if the Independent Candidate wins over any of them but it's unlikely (so was President Trump’s win or so I thought). One thing i am grateful for?  Is these stupid political ads will be done (I hope) for now.  I understand Politics can be dirty but how can anyone actually say “I approve this message”?  What are they thinking ...

Great and Busy Weekend

Saturday I had a long day but it was great.  I went to Campaign headquarters in town and heard Congresswoman Rosa Delauro speak on the issues and what needs to be done and reminded the audience to work for the goals.  She praised our current candidates and it was great. I had an opportunity to have a picture taken with her (actually my friend James Maroney’s step mom Beth (whom I have known for years-another story for another time) took them for us.  They are on my news feed or timeline. After that kickoff I was asked to drive a canvasser around but i had a few issues.  The first being my car was pitiful. The second I had to be at the gym by 12:30. I didn’t feel I would give it enough time.  Also depending on where we were going. So I was excused from doing that. I was able to go home and do a few things including clearing out the car to look better incase I was asked to drive people around better and not feel guilty or embarrassed to drive anyone ...

TGIF-Maybe?

I should be happy it's Friday but I am not.  I awoke with a headache. My good intentions of getting up went so far south that I am disappointed with myself.    The only good things I managed to do is feed and water the cats and take care of their litter boxes. I still have things to do for this weekend that I haven’t done in preparation.  I need to go shopping, I need to prepare the two contributions for the bake sales. I did get out of the house in time for the shuttle which was good.  I have to make that a daily ritual. I also want to be there so I am not rushing around or making them wait.   The drive was okay but the sun was so bright and in my face. I thought there was a slow down but that could have been the sun rise.  Things were not so good on 91 as a woman was driving the wrong way on that part of the highway and cause a major accident. It tied up traffic for hours. When I got to work i printed out the one password list...
