I saw David Yesterday

I left the house later then I should but I did get to stop at the DD near the nursing home.  I chatted with the picket line and then went inside.  Shelly was there and so was Matt we chatted.  Some of the residents were getting a little rowdy and I put my foot down.  I just said if they couldn’t behave they would leave.  As the morning progressed we had six or seven games but no coin for the games. After the games I went to church.  I  was only a few minutes late but they were just finishing prayers between the two readings.  After church I was about to call Liz (I had the gifts that Claudia sent) but I got a call from Dave.  He wanted me to accompany him to Vinny’s Garden Center and run some errands with him and then we would go to the movies later.  We agreed to meet back at the house by 1:15. After the call I called Liz and made arrangements to come over for a short time.  Chris, Audrey, Jason were tehre when I got ...

Dear Debra

Image
Dear Debra: I had a great time yesterday being with my family watching my niece perform here at Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts (JORG) at the Storrs Campus UCONN.   I never realized just how big the campus was!   It is a huge city within itself.   I guess it is not unlike Yale University.   The ride up was lovely.   The ride back was “ok”.   We got a little lost and tempers flared but it was resolved.   We had dinner at the Nathan Hale Inn and Conference center right there.   I asked the waiter who served us if it gets crazy on game nights and his response was “Oh yeah”.    The food was good. Mom and I got home by 8 and we did our own things.   I answered emails from friends and the various email lists I belong to.   I also sent out emails to cousins who might want to know about our cousin that was killed last week.   I had one response from a cousin.   I was getting tired so I think I went to be...

I watched Jay last night

Image
Most of you who read this blog or know me know I am not a late night talk show viewer.   I usually find the monologues stupid, boring and belittling.   The only times I will actually endure this crap is if a celebrity I like is on.   Last night was just that night.   They had First Lady Michelle Obama as the first guest.   She was funny, witty, and informative and I found the anecdotes about what life is like in the White House for the Obama’s to be very interesting.   They keep some form of normalcy in their lives despite the fish bowl existence.   She barely if at all touched on political issues.   She talked about the things she is involved with (the military, kids health).   Of course I loved the interview with Mark Harmon.   Jay did interrupt him a few times but it wasn’t as bad as usual.   I watched it a few more times on line. I did have a hard time getting back to sleep last night and when it was time for me ...

Farewell Paul Newman!

Good Morning everyone! I am just doing some odds and ends right now, emptying out email boxes of old stuff and saving old entries from online. I hope I don’t do anything to the computer for saving from the web. I am also chatting on line with Emily in PA. I haven’t talked with her in quite some time. So far all I know is she is good and her brother and sister are good. School is good. This conversation is going to be short I can tell. Well as I suspected it was a short conversation. I was waiting and decided to go and get some breakfast and watch TV. When I came back I IM’d her and asked if she was back. Now she has to study. I don’t know if I should feel offended or what. Aw nuts. I just got back online and found out that actor Paul Newman has died! He was 83 years old and lived in Westport CT. He died from cancer. He has been living in Westport Connecticut for probably 25 years or more. Here is one article. He was also the bane of my sister’s existence a while bac...

Its been another one of those weekends

Hey everyone! It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I hope all is well with you and yours. It has been another one of those weekends. I am trying to relax before going out tonight. This weekend was full of excitement and stress. Friday I went to the Pilot Pen Tourney in New Haven with my friend Dave for his birthday. Have any of you been following it or have heard of it? It was fun even though the players didn’t seem to be doing the whole best. Even people we sat with who had been to both sessions felt the same way. I had the pleasure of meeting Kassie & James DePaiva (One Life to Live Fame). Now here comes the stressful part. When I stopped to drop Dave off at his house I couldn’t get the car to start. It was nearly midnight and had to call my mother to pick me up. I was really worried about the car and about how much it would cost and just a whole bunch of things. Saturday was spent getting the car back running. It needed a new battery. I ended up at sears getting t...

The neatness begins

It is after 10 and I am at work. I have been working on lockbox. I had 17 charts to deliver. It has been a little busy here for the last two days since I have been a day behind almost for two weeks. I did manage to keep up on some things like the bad addresses, and the bulk mail and picked up the mail from the lobby. I worked on that this morning. Because of the recent complaints of bugs there were modifications to the office. New “decorative” bug lights were installed over the weekend. Also we got word that the office is “Going Green” with new trash baskets and new recycle bins. We also have been giving instructions on what can and what can’t go into the bins/baskets etc. When I walked in here this morning I noticed that things that were on the floor were no longer there and I suspect it was mentioned to my immediate supervisors/management team. I have never claimed I was the neatest person in the world. I mean I am constantly leaving stuff around papers on the floor, dishes around, e...

I met Governor Gaitling!

Today I had a wonderful day. It started off with Breakfast with my two nieces who were visiting from PA and with my sister and her husband. The day ended with a fundraiser for CT House Speaker James Amann. For those who don't know he is running for the Democratic Party for Governor in 2010. Among the guest was Actor James Noble. Mr. Noble is best known as Governor Gene Gaitling (sp?) of the TV show Benson. I had a lovely chat with him. We talked about his co-stars from the show and what they were up to. Mr. Noble has been living in lower Fairfield CT for the last four years. He told me about his lovely late wife and how they were looking into moving into Milford. He told me about how he met Mr. Amann while on a set for a movie that was being filmed here in CT. Connecticut is becoming known as Hollywood East to help not only the entertainment industry to find new locations but to Make connecticut more available for films such as the one Mr Noble was starring in. I really enjoyed my...

People are pissing me off

Hey all! It is afternoon and the house is quiet. Everyone started leaving by 10:30 this morning and I have been trying to figure out what to do next. I am doing the towels and Mom’s mattress cover and my own laundry. I had emptied the garbage and threw out Joe and Ria’s Chinese food from Tuesday. I knew Mom didn’t want me to eat so I figured I would throw it out. Other than that not much is going on. Even though sun is out the sky is overcast and by the time I get to bed again it will be raining. I am a little warm but I do have my heavy pajamas on. Joe and Ria came home last night by 11. We talked about family news and (clearing up) misinformation. After that some of us went to bed. I had the dubious task of waking Joe and Ria up by 7:30. I was five minutes late. They showered, ate, got packed up and did odds and ends. Well I got a nice surprise. I just got my car tax bill and I just have to pay once this year. In the past it’s usually twice a year. The first is usual...

Friday March 8, 2008

Good Morning everyone, it is after 10:30 and I am at work. Things are moving along. I am just waiting for the campus mail run to come through for any stragglers of post office mail. I stopped at Dunkin Doughnuts this morning for an extra large White Hot Chocolate (or is it Hot White Chocolate?). I thought by the middle of the morning I would be very hyper with instead I was more tired. I did have more coffee not sure if has effected me or not. I guess I will be able to notice when I try to sleep tonight. I called Liz and Nelson today they were sleeping. Liz doesn’t seem to be feeling well today. I will call her over the weekend as she is starting her week long vacation tomorrow. I was able to get almost everything done (except of course the bulk mail) I was going to start some more of it today but other things got in the way. Well it is already to be started Monday. I had to verify my new account at IMDB.com today. I had to use my cc I hope they don’t charge me if they do I will cancel...

Still not feeling completely well

Well its noon time here and I am still working on yesterday’s mail. I am taking it slow. I haven’t been feeling well all day. It started yesterday sometime. I would get these pains as though someone was kicking me in the stomach and probably the rib cage. I had a few “spells” earlier but it seems to be fine. When I went home yesterday I didn’t have to see Kitty. Roberta and Mike had just come home. Roberta had called and talked with Mom while I was sitting in the TV room watching TV. I told Mom what my problem was. I didn’t eat dinner. Around 6 I had learned of the drug overdose/death of actor Heath Ledger. I was so surprised. I had come in half way through and they were listing his credits and his bio and then I saw the picture with his dates on it. Today there are more stories and speculation about how and why he died. Some say its accidental over dose. He had so much going for him. Well it is almost 11:30. I have been taking it slow. When I left the office I was still having those...
