Dear Friends:
It is mid-week and we are heading down towards the first weekend of August. Today is my Dad’s 86th Birthday . Sadly he isn’t with us anymore but I think of him quite often. Sometimes more than others especially now that Mom’s health is not the best.
Something I forgot to mention that has me puzzled and I am not sure I am pleased about it. My Sister-in-Law scheduled a memorial mass for my brother to be said on August 10th. At first she had it for 7:30 in the morning then she moved it to later that day. She asked Liz to help out and she either asked Mom or told Mom there would be a gathering here. As in our house. Now Liz can’t make it or at least I don’t think she is going to because of her grandson Bryan’s Birthday party is the same day. MY SIL isn’t going to be in town either. She is flying out to CA the day before to be with Diane my niece who is performing in “The King and I”.
I feel this is a great imposition to Mom and Me as we were invited to Bryan’s Birthday party. We have been invited every year for the last 15 years. I also think Ethel should have scheduled it for another day when she could be in town. I haven’t expressed my displeasure to Mom because she will brush it off or dismiss it.
Jim is coming up Monday and will have Kristina and James with him. I am not sure how long they will be here for but I am guessing not long. Kristina works on Weekends and has Monday off so it will be very nice to see her and of course its always cool to see young James. My hope is we should have no problems (Knock on wood).
Work was okay. I had a lot to do and was really close to getting it all done but I think I “sneezed” and had more than I thought I would. I can finish the rest of today’s mail tomorrow and get as much as I can done before I leave work at 3 for my dentist appointment.
I had a nice ride home even though the traffic was slow. Lots of things going on elsewhere on the highways of CT. The street was quiet from the construction work so I had no problem getting in or out when I headed to the farmers market at Treats farm.
Mom wanted some corn and asparagus so I went and picked up the corn but couldn’t get the asparagus. We had with dinner it was delicious along with the pork and rice dish. We had to eat late because Liz had stopped by to pick up things and I imagine chat about the upcoming gathering.
Most of the garbage is out front for the morning pick up but there is more to be thrown out so I better get to it and then go to bed...
See you in the morning.
