Halloween 2017

To all those who love Halloween may the spirits protect and guide you tonight. After the God awful attack in NY this afternoon I really mean it.  God I had to turn off the news because it was too sad.   I won’t be handing out candy considering we haven’t had large groups come to our street in years.    I have a feeling two of our newest neighbors will be highly disappointed that it's been quiet tonight.  As i said earlier this week Liz and Nel went to FAirfield to be with the grandkids.

I sent Halloween cards to Jim and his kids and to Liz.  DId talk with Jim. He told me they had TorT in his town last friday.  I can understand a little better how it possibly could be here if legislators make a statue to have Halloween on the last weekend.

Work was busy and we had some fun today.  Many participated in the call to dress up.  Around 2 we had treats provided by our admin team.  I participated in that a lot.  It is also second day of month end.  

The committee meeting for the union was brief.  We talked about tomorrow’s meeting and where we will gather before the meeting.  The discussion of why no comes.  I told them...Wednesday's are not good for my people and several of us after the meeting feel that these people are grown ass adults if they want to know what is going on they need to show up.  We can’t keep twisting their arms.  The rally this Saturday is around 9 am.  I hope it isn’t a long one.

The ride home seemed to take a long time but I was talking with a co-worker about the whole older teenagers trick or treating and groups of people from other neighborhoods or parts of the city.  That’s going been going on for years.  I don’t believe teenagers older than 15 should be trick or treating.  Not sure I am making any sense.  

When I got home talked with Neighbor Sean who was going to do some work before calling it a night.  He wasn’t expecting anyone at his door and he is hoping that we don’t get a lot of people from the condos.  No friends of residents parking and coming over on to the street.  I pointed out that if we get “No parking” then we can’t park on the street.  He countered and said get resident stickers that allows us to park her.    I really couldn’t argue with that.

Sky was at the door when I came in tonight.  I have to say this is becoming a new trend with him.  I came in and gave extra kibble and then relaxed with some hot apple cider and the news.  GAve them some treats and allowed him to go downstairs.  Tiger came down for a short time and they both were upstairs on the bed the last time I checked.  I bet when I get up there Tiger is going to leave for a while.  

I had chicken for dinner and then made a pork roast.  This time I pretty much followed directions.  When it was done I had a couple of slices and now I have stuff for lunch tomorrow and the rest of the week.  I put the stew meat in the freezer. I can’t do it it takes too much to do.

.i got a letter from DEbi in Florida.  She was telling me about her life in Florida and what her kids are up to and she sounds good.

It is now time for me to hit the sack...

We did okay

Well it is the day after the storm and we did okay.  There was a power blip that i would say happened just before 10 (I was watching weatherman Sam Kantrow report from Anchor Beach) and warning people to stay home and be safe..Um good advice but don’t  you think you should heed your own advice?  I mean I could hear the wind and I made sure the windows were locked.  Most of them locked with no problems except for height.   The kitties seemed a little agitated so you know who really cuddled with me.  Although he did venture to the rest of the house a couple of times.  Tiger finally came up around 11 I think.   The winds subsided by 1 and we finally fell back to sleep.

I had gotten up a couple of times last night.  First to take tums (the sauce was a little spicy)  and the second to have the sleepytime tea.  I have to get some more for that one.  I went back to bed feeling okay but this morning not so much.  After feeding the kids I laid on the couch until 6:30.  

The ride in wasn’t bad and I made it on time.  I even got my regular parking spot.  That means it's going to be a good day. Let's hope that by the end of the day it will be the same.  I have to be back in town to get blood work done.  

I spent the morning doing some refunds, scanning and late morning back to the mail.  THe rest of the afternoon was mail and I was hoping to get back to scanning but I knew it wasn’t going to happen.  MS came back from her two week vacation to Florida.  It was great to see her.

I was surprised to see DK in because her SIL did pass away before the weekend began.  From what she told me it was just the way the SIL wanted.  THey will have a  celebration of life later on in the spring.

I had learned that parts of Milford had trees down and no power.  I called Sis and Nel to see how they did and they were fine.  I am grateful they got rid of a huge tree earlier in the summer because it could have come down right on their home.  She did tell me that my Niece and her husband lost the pine trees lining their driveway and they had no power.

After I get the blood work done it should be a fairly quiet night.  I have to do some things around the house (hang clothes, finish the laundry) then I will have to call it a night.

Well it's time for me to get back to work.

World Record

I think I broke the World record for shopping.  I managed to spend 45 minutes and not break the budget for grocery shopping.  I was home before 8 am.  I started doing some cooking the chicken breasts should be done in another ten minutes.  I have more to make.  I am going to make sauce now.

I don’t think I have ever been in a store so early in the morning.  There wasn’t a lot of people there at 7:15 in the morning on a Sunday.  I may do that again some time.  I did get a few things not on the list but still needed.  Of course there was one thing I didn’t get.

Well now the chicken strips are done I tried a couple and wrapped the rest for snacks later.  I have sauce going and later on I might do the roast again the right way this time.  I finally decided to bring up a tray table from downstairs to put the laptop on it made it much easier on the counters.  I was certain I would have to say up late but by 5:30 I was making pizza with some of the sauce and cooling the rest in a container with plastic bag.

The rain began just before 7 I think.  It didn’t come down hard until just before 10.  Within 20 minutes or so it lightened up.  The wind is picking up though that’s for sure.  It is not helping me to stay up. I really was getting tired and hoped for some nap time.  I did a 10 minute napper and then got ready to leave after 1.

I have a feeling the laptop adaptor is starting to die on me…as it wasn’t charging really that well.  I don’t want to have to go and buy another one.  I don’t remember when I got the last one or where.

The kitties were very quiet.  I let them downstairs in the cellar and Sky came up only a couple of times and went back down.  Tiger went down and hasn’t come back yet.  Yet when I called them didn’t come up.  I checked around and didn’t see them but didn’t panic much.  When I came back home they were up one at a time.  I managed to close the door for the evening.  They are doing their own thing.  The last of the chewy.com supplies should be here next week.  Once it comes I am going to have to turn it off.  I don’t know why I didn’t do this one.

The rain was coming down hard again on the way to the nursing home but I got there okay.  Bob was there and so was Max.  They were setting up for bingo and we started just before 2.  Bob did give me a packet to fill out to update my info for Nat’s files.  It had an application; emergency contacts; then patients’ rights, volunteer requirements, and rules.  I have to get two recommendations really?  I can think of two (ladies guild and DTC).

WE had a great time.  I called some of the games and then let Max call the rest.  We didn’t have a large crowd today but to be honest I think it was still the 12 players.  We did get some chatting and had a great time. We had prizes to hand out as we ran out of nickels.  Max did most of the cleaning up and I headed to Wal*Mart.

Why did I have to Wal*Mart?  I needed more regular Tea k-cups. I also got some Hot Apple cider pods and ahem, caramel apple frosting.   I have had both while waiting for my dinner.

Now I am just sitting here watching the Star wars franchise (the last of the two).  I was surprised that it was on and so was the hobbit movies, and Narnia movie.  Among all the Horror themed movies and apparently Christmas movies.

Of course I watched TOH.  I missed it last night.

I may work on more of the pen pal files and for a little bit then hopefully go to bed earlier than usual.

Couldn't Sleep

I didn’t sleep well last night.   I was on the computer after midnight  I suspect it had to do with the amount of caffeine I had yesterday between several cups of coffee, the regular tea, and soda.   The kitties were both sleeping on the bed when I went to go to bed and then one by one they left.  I must have dozed off because next thing I know Tiger was back at the foot of the bed.  SKy went off somewhere and when he came back he took a flying leap across and back off the bed again.  I think I finally fell asleep an hour or so later because by 4:30 I was woken up by Sky and stayed until 5:30.   I will go back to sleep once I Finish a few things first.

After spending about three hours working on the pen pal files I got the feeling or sense the computer was losing its speed that he seemed to have gotten when I replaced the keyboard and the mouse.  I kept checking the wireless connection and it was perfect but going from document to document and and website to website seemed to be sluggish.  IT was about then I decided i needed to go to bed.  That and Sky came in about three times by then.

Now that the furbabies have been fed (they are eerily quiet right now) and the sunday morning routine has been completed (well almost need to finish coffee) I will be leaving shortly for the store.  I don’t think i have to get that much today but the list seems to keep getting longer.  I did go through the supplies both downstairs and upstairs and saw that we needed things.  The store doesn’t open until seven.

I hope this storm they are predicting isn’t going to be that bad.  For anyone it is supposed to be like the Hurricane Sandy five years ago.  

A Busy Morning

Happy Saturday! I had a few errands to do this morning and then spent time with my sister before she did some stuff including the Oktoberfest.  We talked about stuff.  Same stuff we always talk about (family wise) and we talked about what we were or weren’t doing for Halloween this year.   When I got home I had lunch and then finished up the day with writing letters, and laundry.  Near the end of the day I did some cooking.

Before heading to my sister’s I stopped at the pet store just to look well I fell in love with this little 3 month old Terrier mix.  So I spent some time with him in the “play” area.  He was so wiggly and cuddly and loveable.  I so was tempted to bring him home to kitties but I knew it wasn’t really going to happen.  Don’t have the money for it and I am not sure that Sky and Tiger would be appreciative.  Not only that I probably would have been disowned by my sister.

Since I didn’t go to the church this past week to get tickets for the Oktoberfest celebration at church this weekend I won’t be going.  I am not that disappointed.  I spend too much fussing and worrying about food and how I will be around it.

It is a beautiful sunny day.  It is in the high sixties with a cool breeze.   So I turned the heat down again and opened the windows not a lot of them because as I said it was a cool breeze and could turn chilly.  The last I saw the kitties were out back sitting in the sun looking out the screen door.  It won’t be like this for long.  I did see some grey clouds in the sky and according to the weather forecast we should be getting the rain starting tonight and all day tomorrow.  It is supposed to be flooding, strong winds and heavy rain.  Well we all know how much I like rainy weekend nights or for that matter rainy weekends in general.

Well I have some tea brewing so I am going to get it and do some stuff. 

Don't Understand

I get a credit card bill yesterday from one of the credit cards I use rarely (probably one of my blogging sites). and It says I owe $90.  I spent 20 irritating minutes trying to access the site and changed my info twice.  Now I can’t even access it.  According to the statement there haven’t been any payments.  I actually took the time to register again when I got home and found that the item was my Norton Anti-virus and so I have directly signed up with Capital One.  So I am hoping no more issues.  Besides I already set up payment for it anyway.

   

Today was spent pretty much like this past week. Attacking the readdress pile a little more, doing refunds, scanning for about 2 hours today, and the daily mail.  The only thing is the courier mail (that brings me the us mail and campus mail) didn’t seem to come.  I know they were there because they took the mail at 9 instead of 1.  It was a pretty good day.  A Flyer went out to announce a fun activity.  THey want us to dress up for Halloween.  I am not sure what I want to do. But I wish they thought of this earlier in the week to give us time to think and to shop.

I did get some happy exciting news today.  My Nephew’s lady Jennifer contacted me through facebook and told me they are expecting a baby in April 2018.  She sent the sonogram along with it.  I was delighted to get the news and ran over to KT and she knew by the look on my face that she finally told me.  Kari told me that she was hoping Jen would tell me so that she wouldn’t give it away.  Liz must have known for a while now.  SHe is good at keeping secrets.  Both of us are excited.  OF course I told as many people as I could before leaving for the day.

The ride home was a normal friday night ride but I managed to pass the time with a nice conversation with Mama Roberta.  She told me about her visit to the Biltmore estates and to the Town of ashville NC.  They had a great time.  The weather was great for them.  THey did notice on their trip home that some areas must have been hit but severe weather.  I told her the news about the baby, work, halloween, and other things going on in the state.

When I got home the kitties were waiting for me.  Sky was at the door literally.   This has been his routine lately.  Tiger was at the top of the stairs and wouldn’t come down at first.  I managed to get some things done before feeding them some kibble.  Eventually tiger went up into my bedroom closet that I had left open all day.  She came out around 9.  Sky was ambling around and then followed me into the bedroom while I was doing some writing.  I knew sky wanted to go to bed (and I am expecting him down here soon) and I had heard him chase Tiger downstairs.  AFter awhile I heard her crying so I came down and managed to get her to come up for 20 minutes.  She is around here somewhere.  Too Quiet for my liking.

While they did their thing I watched TV until eight.  I had some dinner and started laundry and the dishwasher both will be emptied before I leave tomorrow for the bank and hairdresser.  I then went up and wrote some letters.  I finished one and still working on another.

Aside from the bank, and hairdresser I have a few other errands to do and then finish some cooking and do more letters. I was entertaining the thought of going to the Oktoberfest but I would have had to get the tickets prior to tomorrow.

Well the kitties are getting restless and I need to go to bed.

My day was hectic and busy.  I spent most of it doing mail and a little on Refunds.  I actually have a small batch of refunds to mail out tomorrow.  I did walk to the Medical Mail room to pick up some payroll stuff but it really didn’t help my ankle in the least.  I was ecstatic that I got the daily mail off my desk.  The Post office mail came at its normal time when of late it seemed to come to me late. 

        There was a town hall meeting that started at 3:3o and went for an hour.  You could either go to it in person or catch it on line.  I did neither.  I was already online a lot today.  I have a feeling it didn’t go unnoticed.

        I was so glad to come home   by 5.  I chatted with neighbor Don and Lilly as they were playing with the wood pile in their part of the driveway.  We talked about the tree that crashed yesterday.  Don says it was a rotting tree but did no damage.  He won’t be using it for the stove. 

        The kitties seemed to be waiting for me when I walked through the door. So I gave them some kibble along with treats mixed in.  Then I fixed myself some dinner and sat down and watched TV.   At one point I fell asleep.  That was indicative of what I was not going to do.

        I decided to stay home this month from the DTC meeting.  I was very tired.  I knew it was the final meeting before the election but I haven’t been doing much for the campaigns again.  I don’t know if I will be standing outside this year.  There is one final lit drop before the election this Saturday.

        Instead I watched TV and then started writing a letter to Amorette.  I can’t believe I haven’t written in so long.  I am thinking we keep in touch via the blogs so that may be the reason I haven’t written her.  Lame.  So I have a two page letter (going to be longer) waiting to be finished.

        The kitties are around here somewhere.  I think they are on the bed waiting for me to go to bed-oops Sky is here now trying to get me to go to bed.

        Tomorrow is pretty going to be the same way it was today.  I don’t know if I will be scanning but I hope to be doing it.  I will have to pick up my slacks and prescriptions and then do some more cooking.  I had to throw out the stew meat.

My ankle as I mentioned has been giving me problems of a sort.  I was limping a lot today and I thought it would snap soon.  Its fine if I sit a certain way but when I don’t it hurts.  I may have to get a brace of some sort from the dr.

Thankful Thursday

1.         I am thankful for my family warts and all.  Everyone is good.  

2.         I am thankful for my kitties.  I am thankful they didn’t leave any delightful gifts for me this morning.  They did wake me up at a decent time (normal 5:30).    Been a little more affectionate.

3.         I am thankful for my job- Been Busy.

4.         I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health. Had my Infusion yesterday.  Saw the Pulmonary Doctor as well.  Says I am doing great.

5.         I am thankful for my neighbors.  

6.         I am thankful for my home-

7.         I am thankful for my friends-I am really enjoying my friends both online and off.  I am still making plans to get together with Siduri.  We have to talk about what we want to do.  Been getting letters out and almost done updating.

8.         I am thankful for the organizations I belong to.  Getting ready for the Auction next month.   

9          I am thankful for the weather. It's been raining for the last few days but still maintaining 70 degree temps.   Leaves have been changing and falling in the windy conditions.

10.      I am thankful for the men and women who choose to protect and serve their country and their citizens even at the worst possible times.

11. I am very thankful that I can close out the file on the 2002 car.  Everything is taken care of I have been recouped.  

I didn't kill it

The laptop and it went on.  I didn’t kill it.  I guess it was going through   really long updates.  Which is good because I have a few documents that I haven’t moved over to the PC yet.  I probably should incase it happens again.

    Yesterday was very long.  I finished monday’s mail in the morning, and did some scanning for an hour and then went back to the mail when it started coming in and at that point got frustrating because I was getting mail from departments that I don’t normally get.  Maybe in dribs and drabs but not like this so I told Supervisor Bob that I will just readdress it and send it out.  He seemed fine with it.  In the late afternoon the rest of the mail came and as usual had to finish it this morning.  I finished that by 10 today.

At lunchtime I went to the credit union and took care of depositing the check(s) and looked into getting a CD from them.  I could have gotten it if I hadn’t deposited the money first. Apparently it can’t be transferred from one account.  Well I certainly didn’t have time to wait  as it is I was taking a half hour extra.  I also had to sign a document for a debit card replacement.  The teller was kind enough to fill most of it out.  They said it would take seven to ten business days so I should be getting that sometime next week. I got back shortly before one.

GA won’t be here for the rest of the week so I will be covering the things she does (mail wise).  That’s including the lobby (I do that anyway), the trays, etc.  This will get me up and out of the seats a few times before the weekend.

After work I met with Debra at our new time.  We spent the hour talking about what had happened since our last meeting, and I got into about the entertainment world.  Specifically NCIS and its many fandoms. Of course we did speak on upcoming sessions like our next session and the holidays coming up.

From there I went to Jonathan Law HS back in town.  I was there for a forum put on by the BOE to get to know the candidates.   Unfortunately I was there an hour early.  So I hung around.   I chatted with the Custodial staff for a bit and then the hosts (PTA) started coming in and setting up. The setup was nothing what anyone expected. Eventually people I knew were coming in and I chatted with them.  I was also waiting for JM to get the auction tickets package from her.  I was also avoiding some people if I could. For those who don’t know I will call them “the bullies”.  ANyway, I left sometime before 7:30.  

It was starting to rain again around 6.  It had been raining since 3 it was also a little humid as well.  At times it was hard to drive as some of the highway lights were not lit up.  It continued for the rest of the night.  Around 10 there were flashes of lightening and thunder.  It didn’t seem to bother Tiger who sat under the coffee table in the living room but I heard SKy run into the sun room.  My boy the hero.  So it was about then I decided to go to bed.  SKy followed me half way up.  He followed and cuddled with me for the next several hours.  The thunder rumbled a few times more as did the lightning.  By 11 it was over.  Eventually Tiger came up for a few more hours and I fell asleep.

Today was equally busy and I had limited time to do it.  I didn’t finish (usually don’t anyway).  I managed to get to my infusion just barely on time.  I got there had my infusion and talked with a woman who lives near me and it turns out I work with her son.  Its like the most famous     quote by Humphrey bogart.  “Of all the gin joints....”  AFter the infusion i headed to Mickey D’s for a late lunch early supper.

I had about 35 minutes before I had to be back in New Haven for the Pulmonary appointment.  It was 3:15 by the time I got home and ate.  I also fed my suit. I finished it and then took off for the appointment.  I went along the shoreline when I heard the traffic starting up.  I got there on time.  But waited 30 minutes.  I was out of  there by 5:30 and home by 6.

Since I have been home watched TV, its garbage night, and read emails, and of course made a roast.  Its cooking as I write.  I messed up on the rub...but it should still be good.

I am kind of tired i may go to bed early again,.

I need to get a move on.

I am beginning to panic now.  Why you ask well I have four weeks to make reservations at a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner for Jim and myself.  After talking with him yesterday about it the one place (safe place) I was thinking of was not warmly received.  I am going to try and check the places that Nextdoor Don raved about.  Unfortunately I can’t do it right now.  

We just got notification that Supervisor can’t approve anymore time for the day before.  I couldn’t take it off even if I wanted to.  I just have to do something about this.

The rest of the day was filled with mailing out refunds, scanning, more refunds, and opening mail.  I didn’t get all the mail done but I will have it done tomorrow.

After work i Headed to the tailors.  I took the shoreline as the highway had a few accidents so I didn’t want to wait.  I managed to get to the tailors around 5.  I picked up the slacks and noticed they are exactly the same as the ones that were in my dia.com order.  These were from Liz!  My sister says not to wear them one after the other.  I am not planning on it. Much.

It was nearly six when I got home. It was still light out and the kitties seem to stay in their hiding place today.  It was the cellar.  

I got my dinner ready and noticed a UPS folder.  AT first I thought it was the one I left around and was going to throw it way.  Damn good thing I didn’t it was from the insurance company.  

I had steak for dinner did a little bit of laundry and then wrote some letters.  

NOw I am going to bed.

I think

Oh I think I broke the laptop tonight.  The battery charging said it wasn’t charging (I had it plugged in) so I looked at the battery area.  It looked fine (but I suspect I Have to replace it eventually) and it turned back on and was doing the circle thing and then about five minutes later it turned completely off.  No lights, no noise, nothing.  Why did I open that part of the laptop?

So what else happen?  I went to bingo.  The natives were a bit restless and rude to the boys.  The Prep boys did a great job. I called for the first half hour and then I let Max do the rest of it.  Maria was there and doing stuff she needed to do.  After bingo was finished I headed home to eat.

I relaxed for a bit and then one by one the kitties came down at various times and then went back upstairs to the spare room.  I then had stewed tomatoes and then sat down and talked with Mama Roberta for about half hour.

I had called her from the car on the way to Bingo but she was at the NC Flea Market with Friends and it was hard to hear.  So she called me some time after five.  We talked about bingo, volunteering, and family, health and work.  She did say that they had a close encounter with a deer this afternoon.  She is going to a Casino in Ashville on Tuesday and will call and tell me about it when she gets back.

After a while I left everything right where it was and headed to the store.  It was just going on six by then and I wanted to get things for the stew and for the food collection at work.  I got a pork roast that I will cook just like the roast beef.  I got chicken breasts, more wings, and some steaks.  I got a lot of canned vegetables that I plan on putting in the stew tomorrow night. 

I have been avoiding one recipe that you have to braise or precook the meat in first before putting it in the cooker for nine hours.  I just have to try it if isn’t something I am going to use again then I won’t (I certainly will not be making roast beef in the slow cooker.

The kitties have been fed for the night.  They were doing a lot of vocalizing and I was thrilled that Sky wanted me to pay attention to him while I was revising the minutes again.  I had to pay attention to him.  Not sure where he is now but I do have to get to bed.

Playing catch up again

This weekend has been catching up on things again.  I managed to get the laundry done so I don’t have it hanging around all week again.  I had them hanging in the kitchen until Sunday afternoon at least they were clean.  I still have to pick up a pair of pants at the tailors and leave the other new pair with them. That will have to be done by Monday.  The two summer dresses are in the spare room with the rest of the summer wardrobe.   I think I still have to revise my next order from Dia.

I finally cooked the chicken wings and they came out pretty good. Despite or in spite of the omission of the garlic salt.  I have to work on the garlic pressing part of it.  I may have to get more garlic some of the cloves were disintegrating.  I still have to get the stews made but I need a few more things such as vegetables.  I did some more grocery shopping on Sunday.

I spent some time writing a few update letters and responding to a couple of letters I had waiting to be answered.  I had a lovely conversation with Carol K in MN about pen paling via IM.    I did join Kitty’s pen pal group.  It should be fun.  We probably will do a holiday card swap of sorts.

I got the litterboxes cleaned out Sunday.  I had to they thought outside the box.  HUGE message they were not happy.  Of course one of them used it immediately after it was filled up again. By noon they were sleeping under the bed in the computer room.  They were running around like crazy early on Sunday.  They did a lot of sleeping in the spare room this weekend. 

I avoided the center of town today as there was an arts festival on the green.  It’s the annual arts and artisans fest that is in the fall.  Actually there are a number of festivals going on around the state.  It’s not even Halloween yet!!!

This week will be busier than usual.  My session with Debra has been moved to Tuesdays now instead of Thursdays.  I am already liking it.  It shouldn’t interfere with my Ladies guild at all.  I can be home on Thursdays earlier than usual.  The kitties should like that! 

            Wednesday is a really full day between infusion and the pulmonary doctor, and then I think I have a dentist appointment at 6.  I hope I am up for the ride back to New Haven that day.  I also hope my appointment with the Pulmonist doesn’t take long.  I am not sure I have a dentist appointment or not so I am hoping they will call on Tuesday.  I have to find time to get the blood work done for Dr. Sonia.  I see her in January or February.

            Thursday is the regular monthly DTC.  I have to revise the district minutes because I left something out. Chairman Phil contacted me yesterday and pointed it out.  Still having problems emailing another member.  Contacted her through FB and asked her to send me an email.

            Talked with Liz Sunday and she was cleaning and then heading to my nephews for the afternoon.   She sounded a little tired.  Once she relaxes hopefully she will feel a little better. 

            Haven’t heard from Jim today…need to send him a message as the texting is uncooperative.  (The phone).

            I am hoping phone will still be working for the car to use.  I am not sure if the phone will allow that to work.  I may have to break down and get the phone fixed.

            I had an embarrassing moment.  I noticed that an entry I made earlier in the week showed up on my time line.  I thought I posted it to my journal group on Facebook and I hope no one (who wasn’t supposed to) read it.

A couple of cold starts

Mid week I found it to be quite cold starting each day  but it got  warmer by the end of the day and then cooler by bed time.  I turned the furnace back up to 65 for the day and I could feel the difference.  I always wonder if that will affect the furnace in some way.  If the house blows up I will know then!

     As I mentioned on Facebook there is no rain in the forecast until tuesday. Kept the thermostat at 65 so far.  You know it's cold when both kitties get on the bed with you.  I actually brought tiger up and she stayed for a  couple of hours but she wasn’t pleased I made her.   She eventually settled down  Sky was beside me for just as long.

Today seemed a bit warmer.  It got up into the low 70’s and was beautiful.  I opened the windows when I got home and of course turned the heat down to 50.    If it gets colder during the night I will turn it up to 65.  I have heard so many different things about the weather today.  When it sounds like it's going to be for connecticut it usually is the midwest or southern states.  I just looked and the weather forecast calls  for rain next weekend.

    Speaking of the house while I was showering one day  the shower handle came off the wall.  I don’t mean out of the wall but how it gets connected.  I looked at it and I have no idea why other than the basket  that holds the shampoo wore it down.  NO one in the family can do it so I asked Chairman Phil to look at it and he was supposed to be here but never showed.  It’s okay I am not really up to getting it done tonight.

Work is going good.  Keeping busy with the scanning,   Learning more things to scan and the methods of it.  The mail is on going but seems to be arriving later and later every day.  Where it used to be most days I would get the mail done by the time I leave.  More and more I find I am finishing the next day.

We had an area committee meeting on Thursday as well as a rally.  It was a whole hour so it was good.  It was one of many solidarity marches across the country for all the Hotel union members who are in the middle of their contract negotiations.  I googled it earlier in the week and there were a few articles regarding the labor negotiations in Chicago and one other place.  

The morale boosting sessions continue in the office.  There was a gratitude seminar, a massage sessions for those of us who signed up, and of course.  Sadly I did find out one of my colleagues resigned from her positions as it was getting too much for her to work.  Combined with home and personal issues it was decided she would leave.

Well I am happy to report that I will be getting the insurance  reimbursement for the 2002 honda by the beginning of next week.  I received an email from the adjuster and he confirmed that the check would be here in a couple of days.

The newer car is doing quite well.  I am learning more and more about it just by trial and error (who wants to sit there and read about it).  I just made my first payment on it today.  I received a welcome letter from the financial company and they included information for me to sign up for auto pay.  (Oh look at that I made a pun)

Well I was going to do a few more things before going to bed but I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open now.

   

why do I do this?

I think I am going to stop sharing everything with people!  I was telling a co-worker that (I tell a lot of things to) that I got my DIA.com order and she had never heard of it but when I told her how much it came to she said that was too much.  I found myself justifying why I got it and she insisted it was too much.  I told her I wasn’t discussing it with her.   I am not sure what I was really expecting her to say probably.  I was hoping she would be “supportive” if that applies here. I do admit I wasn’t expecting it to be that much money for five pieces but I should have considering the pair of pants I paid Liz for last week were $60.

I didn’t really sleep well last night. Between the coffee and the tea and a few online aggravations in some of the forums I am on I just couldn’t sleep.  I nearly rolled over on Sky a couple of times too.  I did stay up and write a letter to my pal Aatifa and while I was sitting there on the couch princess Tiger sat above my head.  I don’t think she has done that for a while.   Maybe sit next to me and let me pet her but not that (she didn’t appreciate me trying to take her upstairs though).  Anyway, I don’t think I fell asleep until sometime after 2.  It was nearly 20 of six before I got up.  That’s when Sky came to get me. 

So, we did our morning ritual and went and laid on the couch for a bit and when it was after 6 I got ready. I was all ready by 7.  It gave me an opportunity to check for my phone and look for a few things before leaving. 

I found everything I needed for the day.  The blue carrying bag was in the car as I suspected but not confirmed until I got there this morning.  I have the title to mail and then my id’s in the right places.

The rest of the morning I spent on finishing Friday’s mail and then did some scanning for about half hour.  I had lunch then started on today’s stuff.  I will have to finish it tomorrow but I have a lot to do tomorrow. 

I went food shopping this evening.  I must have gotten there about 5 and it took me an hour.  There are a couple of things I didn’t get but can on the next shopping trip.  I got roast beef that I am cooking now.  I got stew meet to make stew later this week, and I got chicken wings to make in the oven.  I found a recipe that I will use later.  I also got a lot of herbal tea.  I know I have some already but I wanted to try these. 

I have a few more things to do so I will say good night.

The weekend has arrived

Another weekend has arrived and I can’t seem to get going.  I had all these things planned for this weekend and all I want to do is sleep.

Yesterday was a huge success for me. I worked until 1 yesterday and then had my appointment with the Rheumatologist. Actually it was with the Nurse PR actioner. I was a little late but apparently so was Anita.  Aside from the fluid in the ankles and the weight I am doing okay.  Sadly Anita is retiring in December.  She says they are looking for a replacement but they don’t know when.  When I was leaving we promised to keep in touch.  I have to get some lab work done. I might get it done today.

After that I headed to DMV and got the title to the car.  I had to pay for it again this time it was $25.  I had to sign an affidavit to say the loan was paid off.  I was out of there in 45 minutes I think.  I was home by 4.  I called Davis W at the insurance company and I called Liz.  I just want to get last minute advice from Davis before I mail it.

When I got home I had some chicken and then got ready to go to the tailor.  It didn’t take long to get there and had a chat with Liz on the phone.  Didn’t recognize the number at first.  We talked about the whole situation including the fact I had to spend MORE money on this.

  By ten I wasn’t moving all that fast still.  I had put the sauce on around 9:30 and have the utensils in the dishpan.  I will put them away later.  I was debating whether or not I should go back to sleep.  Decided that I would for a half hour.

I finally broke down and turned on the heat yesterday. Sigh.  Its official fall is finally here.  I just was too cold.  At least the furnace didn’t stop like it did the last two years. 

I really didn’t do much the rest of Saturday but made dinner and laundry.

I did get my Dia.com order and I love what I got.  1 pair of jeans,  1 black pair of slacks, 2 tops one cranberry and one light tan top and a lovely dress.  It came to about $230.  I will try them on later but I think I am keeping them all.  I can’t take pictures yet because the phone isn’t cooperating.

Today is rainy and I am not feeling great either.  I have been sleeping for most of the morning and I know I have things to do.   I can do the grocery shopping later.
